This was extremely upsetting and a fundamental waste of $20 and my time. The brisket had absolutely zero bark as if it wasn't smoked but rather baked. It was also tough as if they rushed it and cooked it at a high temperature. The fat was completely backwards. Their was almost 0 inter muscular fat however their was a ridiculous thick fat cap. This was the hard fat that doesn't render to a tender flavorful bite, but rather remains hard and excretes a disgusting grease causing the whole brisket to taste rather horrendous. The Mac and cheese was flavorless and the ribs were greasy with almost no seasoning. Tried this again after several years and still disappointing overall. the plus was the bbq pork was still really good. definitely smoked and the sweet bbq sauce added the flavor. on its own, doesn't have any real flavor with no noticeable salt or vinegar . also had a brisket sandwich and while the meat was tender and had good fat , it had no flavor besides smoke some salt goes a long way. the sides were not too good. cole slaw was flavorless -no salt, zero sugar, and no taste of vinegar. but it was fresh. macaroni and cheese also pretty flavorless. they have a lot of things on the menu and also a buffet. they prob should keep a very limited menu and try to do those as well as possible. read more

BBQ that melts in your mouth. I ordered the chicken and pork combo meal with green beans, baked beans, and Mac n' cheese. The pork was was juicy and soft the chicken was tender with crispy skin. All the side were up to snuff as well, they had solid flavor to compliment the meat. I tried their three sauces they had available. The one that caught my taste buds by surprise was the mustard based one. I can drink a cup of this stuff. It literally would taste great on any meat. I ordered a brisket sandwich and half a chicken with sides and it was ordered thru yelp. When I got home I saw I had only received 1/4 chicken w/sides and a brisket sandwich. The beef brisket on the sandwich was full of fat on the brisket and it was served on a regular bun not a brioche bun. When I called to notify them of the wrong order, I was told to call tomorrow and ask for "Momma June" to replace the order. This didn't make sense to me because I want to eat tonight. I wasn't even offered a refund for my incorrect order. I will NEVER return to that dump. After I trimmed most of the fat off my sandwich, which was half the meat on the sandwich, it tasted plain with no seasoning. I didn't eat the 1/4 chicken because it was dry and overcooked. read more

I am going to be honest here. My mother is a picky eater. She doesn't eat much outside of salad or a steak and baked potato. But she does have room in her heart (and stomach) for barbecue. So when my parents came to visit I knew I needed to make a return trip here. Of course the signature sign was waiting ("You can smell our butts for a mile") and the grill out front was smoking (just for looks though). As we opened the car doors, that luxurious smell filled our nostrils. I had to go straight for the brisket (my barbecue go-to), some slaw, fries, and the peach cobbler. The team here is always super friendly and willing to accommodate. After I placed my order, we decided to add some fried pickles. They took care of it without hesitation. One often overlooked aspect of barbecue restaurants is the importance of sauce. First, every one of them should have house made sauces (personal opinion here). And at least 3 varieties. Well Pot Smoker's has 3 on the dot. Sweet, spicy, and mustard based. The spicy is so, so good. But I keep a little dab of the sweet on hand as well. Fast doesn't even describe begin to describe the turnaround here. Before we knew it, the table was full of food. If you wonder about the quantity, wonder no more. I came in swinging (aka, very hungry) and left with leftovers. Now that might have been because I stopped in order to have room for dessert, but I have no regrets over that decision. The peach cobbler was on point. If they ever pair up with a ice cream shop, I am there on a weekly basis. The brisket was flavored and cooked perfectly, with a nice ring of fat on the exterior (that's part of the flavor). The slaw was moist, but not overly. The fries weren't overcooked. This is some of the best BBQ and service I've ever had. The staff was so happy and helpful and FAST. Even though this isn't a table service place, the girl came to our table to bring everything out and asked us several times if we needed anything. Ok here is another BBQ place near Augusta Georgia. This place is in South Carolina or what the locals refer as to North Augusta. So it's Saturday and I went to this place because they had the beef ribs only on Saturday and was going to give them a try. For the people who read my posts I first talk about the food which is the most important thing. I don't care if the service is bad. The end results is the food and is it worth it. So let start. I looked at the menu prior to going so I had an idea what I was looking for. Now for this place I asked for a sample (very small, just to taste) of the brisket, pork rib, chop pork and the big beef rib. In tasting all of these I liked them all. I loved the beef rib, pork rib, chop pork. The Brisket is a hard one. You either under cook it or you over cook it. In this case it was over cooked. What I mean by that is that it fell apart completely. It has to have that "snap" in it and this didn't. As for the taste it was good not over smoked and the right amount of seasoning. For me I passed on it. But again "it's all relative". Everyone has their own taste. You will have to be the judge. What I really liked and enjoyed the most was the Big beef rib and the pork ribs. Both were great! So far the best I have tasted in the Augusta area and I have been to some other places and they were not so good. Both had real good favors, not over smoked and the taste was real good. I would recommend these but you can only get the beef ribs on Saturday. As for the chop pork it was good but you have to put the sauce on them. We all know that chop pork can dry out but in this case it was moist but need a little help. I would order it on a bun topped with the good cold slaw and Brenda's yummy BBQ sauce. That sauce was good enough for me that I bought a bottle to take home and try on my BBQ. If it works like I think it's going to work, I will call down and buy a case which they have for sale too. Now for the service. First this is a mom and pop/family business. If you know these types of business you know the service is going to be great. They take care of the customer and all businesses should be ran like that. No difference here. The people are so friendly and helpful and they treat you like you are family. All the people that I had contact with from the servers, cooks and mama June (I hope I got that right ehehe), was special to me. I enjoy going to places like that where no matter if they know you or not they welcome you with open arms. So bottom line is I would recommend this place for a good old country BBQ with great people. But I know it's not some people's cup of tea but at least give it a try, I think you will enjoy the food and the hospitality ("southern" ;) ) read more

I ordered the new brisket sandwich ($8.99) and I'm glad I didn't get the platter. The way it arrived was super unappealing, so I had to restack all the meat just to eat it. I was okay with all of that but it was burnt almost to jerky and super dry. I put some slaw and sauce on it, but it wasn't too good. I told the manager the brisket was really dry when he asked and he said, "are you serious?" And then said I should try the barbecue next time. He didn't seem to care, so if they ask you and you don't like the food just tell them it's good, hah! My wife got the pulled pork and rib platter ($11.99) with some potato and hash. The sides were much better than the macaroni or slaw. The ribs were the best I have had since moving here, with the moist meat and smokey flavor. The pulled pork was really delicious too. Driving across I 20, we stopped and drove off the highway about 3 miles to have some barbecue soon as we hit South Carolina. We were met by Peewee, master barbecue artist, to explain to us how he makes his brisket, his ribs, and his pulled pork taste like nothing I've ever had before. In the hands of this virtuoso, the meat transforms from ordinary into superlative. He told us about his son-in-law over in Afghanistan, EOD technician, who calls him regularly to tell him how much he loves them. The brisket is good, but they seem to run out of it my last couple visits. The sides are ok. Staff are very friendly and restaurant is clean. The buffet bar on Sunday was awful. All of the meat was dried out and tough. There was not enough BBQ sauce to moisten up the pork tenderloin. You have to pay an additional $12 up-charge for the brisket. It looked gray and dry in the pan, so I didn't waist my money. When I asked about gravy for the rice they said that the hash was used for that. When I asked where the hash was, they pointed to this orange goop that looked like sweet potato soufflé. That was certainly worth the trip over to North Augusta! Quick Highlights: Pulled Pork Ribs Super friendly and courteous staff I had the pulled pork platter with green beans and "greens"(collards). Pulled Pork was spot on, and I used Brenda's sauce and the vinegar based, unlabeled concoction that was on the table. I'll tell you- It is unusual for me not to choose a "gold" or mustard based sauce! The greens were good- I liked how they were flavored. The green beans were super salty!!! I ate them, but whew! Platter also came with a slice of white bread. Make sure to reference my photo of the different sauces! The hubs had the pulled pork and ribs combo platter- and I did get a small bite of a rib. Y'all that was good. He was really happy with it, because he does not liked sauced ribs and these were not sauced. Just the dry rub. He used the "hot" bbq sauce that was on the table. He had the black eyed peas and hash as his 2 sides. The black eyed peas fell in with the green beans apparently- because they were also super salty. He said the hash was good. I'm not sure he could get past how awesome the ribs were to give me anymore feedback about the sides! We were there at 7PM on a Friday night, and they close at 8. I was kinda expecting it to be packed- but we walked right in, ordered and had our food in 5 minutes. As the waitress brought the platters over, some of the black eyed peas splashed over the side of their little bowl. She was very quick to offer to bring a fresh bowl. This blew me away.
