Food is totally disgusting. This is not what I call barbecue. People just go there because they want unlimited of everything. I'd rather have something that's really good and have everything nasty. My husband and I in our 10-year-old went in our 10-year-old wouldn't touch anything there and neither would I. I tasted a few things and they were disgusting.. I wish Aiken had a good barbecue restaurant, but they don't. This place is no more, then unlimited helpings. TLDR: over-hyped, over-priced, limited menu buffet with disappointing food. Epitomizes the phrase "all you CARE to eat!" Sorry, I just don't get the hype. Went to Duke's for lunch right after it opened after the fire & was really disappointed. It was my first visit, so I chalked it up to bad timing. It didn't make me want to go back, but we decided on a last-minute dinner out last night & thought we'd give it another try. More disappointing this time - just your basic buffet food! Normally I like buffets but nothing about the pans of sad looking glop was particularly appealing. There were the regulatory sides: pans of ordinary Mac & Cheese, potato salad, beans, greens & a few other non-descript sides as well as small, overcooked-looking cobs of corn floating in greasy looking water. Nothing outstanding, taste-wise but not bad either, just ordinary. Lots of fried stuff: chicken, tiny mushrooms, fritters & potato chips. Meat was limited to large chunks of beef ribs & pulled pork. SO said fried chicken was very good & the pulled pork was fine. The beef rib didn't have much meat, but since they give you tiny, flimsy, cheapo plastic utensils it was difficult to get much meat off the bones unless you want to just chew it off (not my favorite method of eating). As far as I could tell, there was no Cole Slaw (a BBQ staple as far as I'm concerned) & no buns to let you make BBQ sandwiches! Apparently, there is white bread in a tin metal box at the BBQ sauce counter, but it was impossible to open the box & anyway, white bread for a BBQ sandwich?? Eeuuww! There were a few desserts that weren't particularly tempting, although I did get some of the peach cobbler to put on my soft-serve & that worked ok. So will I be going back or recommending it to my AirBnB guests? Oh, h*** no! Too many other, better BBQ places in Aiken. If you can't resist going to check it out yourself, my advice is to take your own utensils (esp a knife) & a nice bun to make a sandwich. read more

This is the first time I've experienced a restaurant like Duke's Bar-B-Que. This South Carolina joint is truly an experience. It felt like a fancy school cafeteria. If you want something fancy, this place is not for you; this is for families and friends. Duke's had so much food I couldn't try it all. The rice and hash were an exciting blend, but not for me. The bone-in wings, pulled pork, and ribs were delicious. Everyone was raving about the peach cobbler, but I got none. The cookies and cream mixed with ice cream were perfect. It was a self-service style establishment, but the employees were quickly rotating out new trays of food. Dukes was an experience that I hope to return to one day. read more

I was dubious after a coworker said Duke's is a must stop while I was in town. He uttered that scary word for a small town restaurant - buffet. It was excellent. I grew up in the south and very infrequently over the past 12 years living in CA, DC area and Alaska have I gotten decent BBQ. This brought me home. This place gets busy, so they're constantly changing out the dishes. The ribs were phenomenal. The pulled pork was delicious. The sides had some hits and a couple misses - but you just go back up and grab something you liked! 18 bucks for a drink and all you can eat, quality, home-cooked southern food. read more

First time here with family. Omg, this place is so nice and clean, the food is amazing everything was delicious and fresh. The only questionable thing was the salad bar the lettuce was kinda pinkish brown and the cucumbers looked kinda rotten. But other than that it was good. You come in pay first it's buffet style it's $18 for adults all you can eat and drink . They have bbq, ribs, fried chicken, wings , a lot of stuff for everyone lots of different kinds of veggies and lots of desserts . The staff was nice . The service is great. It's a buffet so minimal interaction with the staff but everyone was outstandingly polite. They were constantly making sure the lines were stocked, cutlery/napkins were available and the seating areas were clean. It's a nice place to go. The food is good but not exceptional. If you like buffets, you'll like Duke's! We are still somewhat new to the area and weren't around when the old Duke's was in business (they had a fire and only recently rebuilt and opened up). We finally got around to trying their new location a few weeks ago and the food was good- their hash was as good as if not better than my homemade hash, and their BBQ was great. The sides were pretty average, desserts good, and they had some breads and what I thought were hush puppies but turned out to be pretty gross creamed corn nuggets (???). Labels would've been nice for the bread items but that's a minor issue. From our visit and what I hear at other times, seating is almost always an issue and it's crowded and the tables and chairs are pretty close together. It's tough to navigate through with a high chair. Service was friendly enough but we had minimal encounters as most things are self serve. I am not big on buffet style restaurants as I rarely can (or should) eat enough for the cost to be worth it and as a food lover myself, I can cook most of it if not all of it myself. I recommend Duke's if you can't cook these southern staples yourself or just don't feel like it, but it's also a nice place to take visitors as long as you can get a seat. read more

This place just reopened after a long rebuild due to fire. It was very nice inside with large seating areas and a patio seating area. There was live music when we went on a Thursday. The buffet area was clean and well organized. The smoked pork was pretty good but the hash is not like it was before the fire. The large assortment of vegetables was just ok with some of them being pretty bland. The BBQ chicken was dry with very little flavor. The fried chicken was pretty good. There were no hush puppies which was very disappointing. One the wait staff said they were still trying to figure out how to use the hush puppy machine. They need to work on getting tables wiped off more quickly as we had to wipe our own table before we sat down. We were left disappointed due to the lack of flavor and the fact that it was kind of pricey for what we got. read more

We finally made it to "DUKES BBQ" today, and we found it to be very good. The Ribs were meaty and tasty, some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. They had a plethora of sides to choose from, that were all fresh and flavorful! The BBQ SAUCES were all delicious... We enjoyed our visit and will be back. The prices were incredibly cheap. Went in to pick up some pork, hash, and hush puppies for the 4th. Very disappointed. Pork was almost smokeless and tasted like it had been sitting in water. The hush puppies were overcooked , chewy, and gummy. I want to think that the volume of the holiday may have caused these issues since their food was better back before the place was rebuilt. First off, the service was great. My requests for water and paper towels were immediate, and with a smile. I was excited to try the rebuilt Dukes as we have eaten there many times and I looked forward to their southern veggies. I was disappointed. Every vegetable was over salted and not what I expected from Dukes. The rib was tasty and the roast chicken was fine but the pork steak? It Was without taste or merit, plus hard to chew. The dessert options were standard, serving cobbler and banana pudding, and some revolting concoction call Oreo pudding or some such. It took last place for taste and one spoonful was enough for me. Every table was filled that day, a tribute to the devotion of long-time fans but I also noticed that so many were elderly and I don't think all that salt is good for them. I have enjoyed many fine meals at Dukes and I hope the food evolves into more taste, less salt. Nice new building tho. read more

As everyone else in Aiken, we couldn't wait to try Duke's BBQ again after such a long closure. It's a nice new building with plenty of seating and an enclosed porch to sit outside. The barbecue pulled pork was good as I recall, but the BBQ chicken was dry and way overcooked. The ribs were very tough and the home made chips had so much salt on them, that for me, were inedible. Some of the sauces are definitely not the same. The custard machine was not working and the chocolate eclare pudding in the desserts wasn't made this trip. So many of our favorites that we looked forward to enjoying were not there. So, we may go again, but definitely not the same as before. read more

Best BBQ sauce we've ever had! We eat a LOT of bbq and this is PRIME. We've eaten here for decades and love it so much. The bbq is always clean and tasty. This time I got the bbq, rice and hash, Mac, and green beans. The green beans were not very good this go around. No seasoning and tasted just like they came out of the can a minute before.
