Absolutely fantastic. The steak was one of the best I have had in my life. The bread was so delicious I ate the whole loaf before dinner. When a place's bread kicks butt then you know the steak is great. And in a town where there are not a lot of mixology bars, here they have killer cocktails where my $10 goes towards something I can't make at home for cheap. I tried the Mainstreet mule, which is their take of the Moscow mule and it was to die for. As well as their Shirley cocktail which is just like a mojito but adds a cherry twist to it. If at the bar, ask for Kristen. She is very knowledgeable and personable. Gents if you have a hot date, this is the place to go. read more

What a gem! Beautifully appointed hotel near to North Fork wineries and South Fork beaches! Located in the heart of Riverhead across from the Aquarium accessible by foot to many restaurants and pubs. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the rooms were great with polished concrete floors and shiplap walls. The luxurious bathroom is larger than most NYC apartments and guests are provided with fluffy spa bathrobes and slippers. The bed is heavenly and there are big screen TVs with DirectTV. In room coffee and water are provided. The housekeeping was superb. The ice bucket was full on arrival and the turn down service was prompt. Continental breakfast is included in the lobby with selections of breads, muffins, fruits and yogurt accompanied by milk, juice, coffee and tea. A frittata was available on request as was cappuccino,latte and espresso. The staff was so helpful and courteous. Check in and check out were a breeze. Parking is free in the attched lot. If you get a chance dine in the attached Preston Restaurant. You won't be disappointed. We will definitely be back! read more

I just left the Preston hotel no more than an hour ago and I wished I was already back. My experience was nothing short of flawless. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean, and a home away from home. What made my experience second to none were the friendly and dedicated staff! Danielle checked us in and helped us with any and every request we had, I was so grateful that she went above and beyond for us! This was followed by Alberto, who was there in the morning and made sure we had everything we needed, including mushroom quiches that he personally made himself even though breakfast was over, due to us being late. Such a beautiful hotel. The lobby is so clean and crisp. Even the bathroom is impressive. I have never stayed here but stopped in a few times for drinks. A cute porch in the front to sit and relax with a nice beverage. Great alcohol selections and a nice wine selection. I love that they have Moët sparkling rose' splits for a very reasonable price. My husband and I were looking for a new restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We decided to try the Preston - what a great decision and discovery! To begin, we imbibed in signature cocktails; that were not only delicious, but beautifully presented with edible flowers. We chose to order from the price fixe menu. The market soup of the day was asparagus bisque, and was delicious and served hot. My husband's clams casino were served chopped and piquante. For the entree, fisherman 's pot and prime rib meatloaf did not disappoint. For dessert, we both chose the salted caramel cookies n cream ice cream- which was a substantial scoop. Service was attentive and sitting on the front porch on a beautiful evening added to the experience. I strongly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for an exceptional dining experience. read more

Disappointed with the food. The bacon appetizer was over done and chewy, and the steak was chewy as well. The duck was over cooked, and the sauce pairing was poor. The artichoke appetizer was essentially tasteless. The coffee was fine, and the fudge brownie dessert was delicious. The wait staff was very nice, and the restaurant was a very pleasant environment to have dinner in. Overall it was disappointing because of the problems described above, coupled with the price of food. A four star location with four star prices and two star food. read more

Stayed for one night in king corner suite for our girls weekend.. so impressed with the friendliness and way staff accommodated is (early checkin and making sure everything was ready and waiting in our room!), the cleanliness was 10/10 (for those worried with covid.. just amazing) and the coffee in the am was phenomenal. I am a little torn about this place. It is very pretty and it is very nice to sit outside. Our server was very pleasant although a few delays here and there. My drink was delicious and my dinner was very good as well. I ordered the chicken dish and would recommend it. We also had the artichoke appetizer which was very yummy too. The fish was not as good as you'd expect so that was kind of disappointing but for the most part the food was great. The main reason I am torn is because I don't think the staff was very professional. When we arrived we were sat outside on the deck Which was lovely but then the manager I assume came over and said I am not sure if you are aware but this table is reserved. How in the world would we be aware of that? We were sat here by the hostess. Which was obviously a mix up but it seemed a bit unprofessional and we were not offered anything for the awkward mix up. We may try it again because it has a pretty and relaxing atmosphere. read more

We decided after enjoying their BBQ night to have dinner last night. Sadly, the experience was not the enjoyable one we were hoping for. We ordered the ravioli special, which came with (4) which I thought was rather tasty, but portion was very small, our biggest complaint was ordering a $47 steak, which came out over cooked, they gladly offered to to redo, which left me eating my 4 ravioli at a very slow pace while waiting for steak to be replaced, 2nd steak came cooked perfectly, however it made for a somewhat uncomfortable dining experience. To make up for steak we were offered a $12 credit, which certainly did not make up for the experience had they credited the portion of the meal that was not done correctly, we would have given it another shot, but sadly we were very disappointed server was delightful and handled in professional manner, could not blame her, clearly management did the wrong thing. read more

Beautiful restaurant, exquisite actually. They really paid attention to detail. Probably explains the price which is needed to pay for the build. But, that said, the food was excellent. I started with the tuna tartar which was well seasoned with a delicate mousse. My husband had the fried artichokes which were light and flavorful. We shared a steak and a fish and both were good. Desserts were excellent. Just be prepared to pay a whole lot of money for your meal, but then again you get what you pay for. read more

My partner and I stayed at the hotel and sampled the restaurant as well. The hotel is first rate- 5 stars no question. Everything was as good as we might expect. Absolutely no complaints. The restaurant was very good, but not of the caliber of the hotel. We sampled both oysters and calms on the half shell. Neither was anything to write home about (consensus opinion). I had the seafood special "A nice piece of fish". It was fresh and nicely cooked but over-seasoned and salty to the point that it detracted from the texture. My partner's "Today's Braise" (veal) was excellent. He enjoyed it very much. The service had issues, but that's another story. Overall, for the price (which is considerable) I'd give the restaurant 3 stars, thus the overall of 4. In short, the restaurant (which is beautiful and a wonderful ambience) is not worth the money and I'd be unlikely to return given the number of good restaurants in the area. And we really did want to like it more than we did. The hotel, however, I'd return to in a heartbeat. read more

"Too bad we don't live closer" we quipped the next day about our splendid dinner experience at The Preston House. Sitting at the bar, Katie M. was professional, informative and kind. We enjoyed the $30 prixe fixe, selecting the greens (beautiful ribbons topped with homemade lemon aioli) bombolni with pesto and pignoli nuts and a single scoop of cookies and cream to finish. My better half stayed with the zucchini fries then the delightful burger. Cocktails, one of which was made custom based on our ingredient preferences were sublime. Decor is beautiful. We had the best dining experience Wednesday night July 22, 2020. The manager Joe welcomed us and sat us on the grand porch overlooking the Hyatt hotel and the Long Island Aquarium. A light summer rain began to fall and lightning danced off in the distance. We started off the he night with a champagne toast followed by a Bellini and a Cab Franc. Or waiter Jacob was the most attentive and knowledgeable waitperson we had had, if I did not know any better I would swear he was an executive chef in his past life! The bartender / mixologist Katie sent out some special cocktails, a Chambord raspberry delicious drink followed by espresso martinis. We sampled several appetizers like the Tuna Tartare with strawberries, such a unique pairing and incredible tasty. Fried Calimari with a basil aioli, Burrata toast with chunks of lobster Andy an incredible salad. I told Joe how incredible tasty this was and compliments to the chef and two minutes later.....out comes Chef Drew to our table to say hello and thank us. He was very cordial and gave us a dinner suggestion. My lady took 5at suggestion and had he Montauk Stiped Bass, which was out of this world! I had the 1905 House Burger medium, with chef Drew's homemade smoked tomato dressing, cooked to perfection! My daughter had the Fresh Capellini, very satisfying. For desert we had the Stawberry shortcake, Grilled Peaches and my absolute new favorite desert, S'mores, made with chocolate ice cream, melted marshmellows and caramel with crushed graham crackers! What an unexpected and unplanned beautiful night of dining! I highly recommend! read more

This was our first time staying at the Preston House and Hotel and it was INCREDIBLE. We worked closely with Alberto and Leigh on several aspects of our wedding weekend and were beyond happy with their hospitality. Not only did they go out of their way to help us with additional items we needed in our room to help us get ready for our big day, but they were constantly checking on us to make sure we were happy and had an amazing stay each day. Our suite had Prosecco waiting for us on ice when we arrived (such a nice wedding week touch), the beds were super comfy and allowed for a great nights sleep for the bride and groom. The bathroom and soaker tub was incredible and we very much enjoyed the space and finishes. Everything was very upscale. We were there for 4 nights and had zero complaints. We have stayed at a lots of hotels, as we travel often all over the world and this was a favorite just based on the accommodations, staff, and attention to detail. The hotel really doesn't miss a beat with anything, and the food at the restaurant was great, as we hosted a coursed dinner there for family and friends on our last night. A true gourmet restaurant in Riverhead. The decor is simple and unpretentious. All of the emphasis is on food. And what magnificent flavors. The pappardelle pasta was perfectly al dente, and the Parmesan sauce was savory. The black truffles looked impressive but added little flavor, at least to my palette. Duck is difficult to prepare, but Kyle did it perfectly. Crisp skin, moist tender meat, rich orange sauce. The best duck I have tasted outside of Beijing. The Wagyu flat steak was seared on the outside. Pink and tender on the inside. The bordelaise sauce was a perfect complement. The mushroom side dish was doused in a sauce that brought out the intense mushroom flavor - it almost tasted like steak. The service was attentive without being obnoxious. Kyle, the master chef, shaved the truffles at our table and engaged the guests in frank conversation. I sincerely hope this restaurant is a big success - but not so big that I can't get a reservation. read more

My daughter and I like to try new (to us) restaurants during Restaurant Week and The Preston House was our pick last night. Wow. Excellent decor, spotlessly clean, extremely courteous, friendly and attentive staff. The choices from the Restaurant Week menu were excellent and varied. We took a peek at their regular menu and liked what we saw. Fried artichoke hearts, clams casino, Fisherman's Pot, pasta with pesto, and, to finish, a perfect brownie (crispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside) topped with buttermilk ice cream and fudge sauce and an espresso. A perfect meal! This has definitely become one of our go-to restaurants! We didn't have reservations last night, but since it's directly across from the Long Island Aquarium, we'll be sure to make reservations next time. Things will be getting busy with Spring coming.
