An Absolutely Exceptional Stay -- Silver Sands Is Something Special…read more My wife and I spent three days at Silver Sands celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary, and although this was our first visit, it certainly will not be our last. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the experience was exceptional. The entire staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. What impressed us most was how incredibly organized, attentive, and welcoming everyone was without ever being intrusive. It was almost as if the staff had mastered the art of being there exactly when you needed something, while somehow remaining nearly invisible the rest of the time. That level of service is very difficult to achieve, and Silver Sands does it beautifully. The property itself is immaculate. The grounds are meticulously maintained while still allowing the natural beauty of the surroundings to remain part of the experience. The private beach was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully organized. Throughout the day, we would notice staff quietly moving through, straightening and maintaining everything, yet they were so unobtrusive you could barely tell it was happening. The attention to detail throughout Silver Sands is remarkable. From the design and atmosphere of the property to the pour-over coffee in the room, the thoughtfully selected shampoos and conditioners, linens, amenities, and overall cleanliness -- everything feels intentional. Our room was absolutely impeccable. Silver Sands somehow manages to capture the nostalgia and charm of the classic American motel while feeling modern, sophisticated, and luxurious at the same time. Calling it a "motel" almost doesn't do it justice. It is a truly unique property that can easily rival some of the best hotels and resorts we've stayed at. And then there are Eddie's and Nookie's! Both onsite restaurants were fantastic. The staff and service were wonderful, and everything we ate was top-notch. We left already talking about coming back so we can try more of the menu. Over our 31 years together, my wife and I have been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful and far-off destinations. Yet there were moments during our stay at Silver Sands when we genuinely felt transported somewhere else entirely -- certainly not like we were still on Long Island, and at times not even like we were anywhere in the United States. It has a special atmosphere that is difficult to describe until you experience it yourself. Thank you to the entire Silver Sands team, as well as everyone at Eddie's and Nookie's, for making our 31st anniversary one of our most memorable, relaxing, and enjoyable staycations. You helped make an already special occasion even more special. We arrived as first-time guests and left knowing we'll be back and bringing others to experience what we had. Thank you again, Silver Sands. See you all soon!

But we eventually grabbed a spot. Walking in the front door and to the right is a beautiful bar. That is where the continental breakfast is served. The breakfast included bagels, fruit, coffee tea etc. The bar does not serve any alcohol; however there are many bars you can walk to if you want. The ladies at the front desk are very very accommodating. We were assisted by Jessica and Monica and both were very helpful. We loved our rooms overlooking the harbor. The balcony had two chairs and a small end table. Very nice. The rooms were inviting, spacious and clean. There were different pictures on the wall, dried flower arrangements and a gorgeous marble table with two chairs around it. The rooms also had a nice leather chair in each one. I felt the beds were comfortable and it had four comfy pillows per bed, along with some decorative pillows. The bathroom was large with a big sink and counter space. The showers were huge. They had several different sprays on the shower walls, which could be turned on. The bathrooms were nice and clean and the towels were huge. The kids loved the pool. It's not too big but it was ok. There are tables and chairs around the pool as well as umbrellas and lounge chairs. All in all, we loved the hotel and are considering another stay next summer. To myself and my family, this is a five star hotel. We loved it!

We were looking for a restful, beautiful place to spend our first non-staycation vacation in over…read moretwenty years and we were lucky enough to find the Bartlett House Inn. Actually, lucky isn't a strong enough word-- blessed is more like it. Bartlett House is a sumptuously decorated restored 19th century home that felt like OUR home almost as soon as our hosts, Diane & Jack Gilmore, checked us in. We stayed in the French Room on the third floor. It is beautifully decorated with period furniture and one of the most comfortable beds it's ever been my pleasure to sleep in. The climate control in the rooms is excellent-- although the weather outside during our 5 day stay varied wildly from gale-force winds and rain to chilly drizzle and then spring-like conditions, the weather inside our room was always comfy-cozy. The bathroom has a wonderful deep soaking tub and a sunflower shower head (and GREAT water pressure! I was really surprised at that!!). Everything in our room-- even in the walk-in sized closet!--was absolutely spotless. All the linens, bed and bath, were of very high quality and for the first time in my life, I felt like there were enough towels (as well as lovely oversized terry bathrobes for each of us). But the breakfasts....well, the breakfasts are what will bring us back again next year (we are already planning another stay, a longer one next time). Jack and Diane outdo themselves every morning with a bottomless buffet of coffee, cereals, smoked salmon (my fave!), black forest ham, fresh tomatoes, breads/bagels/muffins, streusel cake, cheeses, hard- and soft-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, and Diane's incomparable breakfast quiches. The buffet is served in their beautifully decorated dining room (also on the porch if weather permits) on lovely mix-and-match china. It is, in a word, sublime. By the time we had to leave for home, we didn't want to go. Diane and Jack made us feel like family, and made Bartlett House feel like a second home to us. We simply can't wait to return.

The host(s) would not answer our calls & the email address was kicking back as undeliverable. We had to search the entire place to find the master keys. She clearly watched us on camera because she knew we located them but provided us no assistance at the time. Not even an apology. Very disappointing. Never again! There are many places far better than this one in the area. I recommend you look into those.
