I am so surprised this place gets such high reviews. I feel bad that, maybe, many of the women that come here have not experienced high quality waxing treatment before. For one, I should've known that 15 minutes for a Brazilian is a no no, unless you want a half-assed job, then go ahead. For $10-15 more you can go with someone that has more experience, caters to your needs, and actually puts time and effort into their work. A real Brazilian wax should be a 30-45 minute appointment. This is definitely my happy getaway "me time". After having a horrible experience elsewhere and being beyond terrified of waxing again I gave this a shot. It was my first time here and Jasmine was A M A Z I N G. It was my first time coming for a wax. I was so nervous and excited at the same time. I forget the name of my esthetician but she was so nice we talked the whole time it was an awkward talk or Force talk it was a nice chat. I didn't feel weird having everything exposed or legs wide open LOL. The wax was so nice and I know I'm going to be back again. I usually wax my armpits myself but I think next time I'm going to have them wax that. The whole process only took about 28 minutes she was quick but she wasn't too fast. My first time experience at the pretty kitty was Everything . My tech was Laura and she was amazing from start to finish . She talked me through the entire process made sure to describe the products she was using on me. Explained what after care needed to take place after my wax . I was already aware some spots were going to be left due to uneven hair growth from my constant shaving years, so I wasn't bothered by that at all. Plus is easy very minimal. Also they use a soft Italian wax that is very different from hard waxes found at our every day name salon. All in all these lady's are the best . My experience was definitely a good one! My esthestician was April and she was amazing! So I made my appointment yesterday over the phone and I was able to book an appointment the next day. I went in about 20 minutes early because I hate being late in general and usually the area around Victoria gardens can get hectic. So I go in, and I'm greeted by the woman at the front. She was nice and had me fill out a small paper form, basically seeing if you're on any acne medication or have allergies. As soon as I was done, April called me back about 3 minutes later. She was very sweet and friendly. I thought it was going to be super awkward and uncomfortable but it was anything but that! I felt like I was talking to a friend. We were laughing during the whole time. I thought I would've been screaming in pain but she made the pain very minimal. As she was doing the wax, she was very informative as to what she was doing. I appreciated that.. The whole process was very quick. I was out of there within 10-15 minutes. Overall, my experience was great! I will definitely be back! read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! The staff is friendly, the environment is welcoming and it is very CLEAN. I love that I can see what the ladies are doing and the bottles are labeled so there's no question of what's in the container. The ladies are very organized and professional and April is a complete doll! If you have any questions about anything they will answer to the best of their ability and they have clean instructions for after care which includes some great product recommendations. I had an amazing first experience at the Pretty Kitty with Hailey! All of the awkward-ness at the beginning of the appointment went away instantly because she was so easy to talk to--it was almost as if I wasn't laying down pantsless on a table, and talking to a friend at a coffeeshop instead, hahah. The wax was great, it made my skin very soft and I didn't see any growth for a substantial period of time (yay!). My second time here was with Jasmine and the experience was a little different than my first. I work 9 hours Mon-Fri and my commute is roughly an 1 hour and 30 minutes. Because of this, all of my appointments are around 7:00PM, which I understand is pretty late. Because of my late appointment, I felt like Jasmine wanted to finish as fast as she could and have me out as soon as possible. So...the result of the wax was horrible--I had a bunch of bumps caused by irritation and the hair grew back instantly by Day 2 after the wax. Along with this, the experience was itself was unpleasant, uncomfortable and very unwelcoming. read more

But I do have to mention..When I walked in for my appointment the lobby was empty and I was about 15mins early for my appointment. I checked in and while I was filling out the paper work I could hear a woman SCREAMING down the hall..(intermittent screams) I was immediately NERVOUS! Luckily I have had brazilians in the past but I never been here so I wasn't sure what was going on in that room. Needless to say I sat there for 15mins hearing this lady screaming..my nerves were shot and I was even thinking about walking out LOL..Finally the lady that was screaming comes out all smiles and I was brought back to the room. I asked if that previous client was overly dramatic or was it really that painful and Tiffany (the lady that works there) said she was a special case but assured me I would be fine....and she was RIGHT..she was super quick, and no I DID NOT SCREAM LOL.. very clean place she was very professional and I will definitely come back. I came here and the girl who did my wax was amazing her name is April and I highly recommend her. However their records are not accurate. I have had a gift certificate that I clearly NEVER used and they said that it had been redeemed. If it was redeemed then why did I still have it? Wouldn't they have kept it for their records? And the manager was AWFUL and she just dismissed my problem like "too bad" I wrote two emails to corporate and never got a response. Why would I recommend this place to anyone? I have recently moved around a lot and was hesitant to try a new place for a wax. Unfortunately, I have not found a replacement just yet. Yesterday, I asked for a full leg and Brazilian. The aesthetician (I will protect her identity) who saw me was nice, however I could tell that this was not her passion. First, when doing my Brazilian, she did not tighten my skin before she pulled, making the experience a little more painful than what it had to be. She repeatedly pulled hair from the same side, rather than change sides to let my skin rest. When she applied the wax, I felt she did not take the time to let the wax harden. When pulling hair from my full leg, she used a wax roller, because it was faster. She applied large cloths to cover a large section, rather than work on my leg piece by piece. I would have preferred her using soft wax and working on smaller sections. As a result, I can feel that the hair that she pulled out was broken from the skin (what shaving does), rather than pulled from the root. Before moving around, I have gotten waxed regularly and know great technique versus "meh" technique. I know about hair growth and that hair grows in several cycles. I also know when hair is pulled from the root versus being broken. In my case, my hair was broken and not pulled from the root. I will check in two weeks to update you on my hair growth process. In the meantime, I recommend that Pretty Kitty employees get professional development to learn better techniques and do better work. I spent my entire session thinking there is a better way, and I am disappointed in my final product. I will not be back until I see or hear of improvement. If you are looking for a person who is passionate about her work and knows what she is doing go to the Wax Queen (in Rosemead), a professional waxologist. Never go there again , bad customer service , didn't even ask how I liked it , just collected the payment and said I should come back in 6 weeks , I normally go to European wax center , but decided to give this spot a chance, I was lied to about the type of wax they use , they use SOFT WAX , not hard wax like European wax center , and btw SOFT WAX hurt 10 x's more ! I was in pain for 3 days ! Which never happens at European wax center , because they know what they r doing , I don't recommend this place to anyone ! At all ! I've always had a good waxing experience here - the girls are quick and pain free. I've gone to European Wax Center as well and Pretty Kitty hands down has better methods and products. (5 star) I was not happy tonight though, not due to the wax but due to the service before. My appointment was at 6:45 and so I arrived at 6:35 - I gave the receptionist my name and told her I was there for a 6:45 appointment. I sat on the couch right before her and waited - waited, waited...saw people come and go, listened to the girls talk about their weekend plans. I kept on thinking why am I waiting here while there are clearly employees with down time? 25-30 minutes later the receptionist acknowledged that I had been waiting a while, I said I had been waiting at least 25 minutes. She asked for my name, again, and said she tried to call me on my mobile phone. I told her I received no call and was sitting in front of her the whole time ( which was true!). They finally took me and afterwards the receptionist apologized and when we checked my phone number on file she acknowledged she had dialed the wrong number. Again, she was very apologetic but I was in a hurry and I wish she would have offered something other than an apology for wasting my time (2 stars). read more
