The Klondike Tavern - Cauliflower soup and blueberry martini!

Had dinner at the Klondike Tavern in St. Helens and it was exceptional from start to finish - I'm…read moretalking really, really good. I ordered the pasta bolognese and a seasonal lemon drop, and both were genuinely the best I've ever had. The bolognese was rich and perfectly balanced, with deep, slow-cooked flavor and pasta cooked exactly right. Every bite felt thoughtful and well executed. The lemon drop was just as impressive -- bright, fresh, and not overly sweet, with a clean citrus finish that made it hard not to order another. The atmosphere strikes that ideal balance of relaxed and refined, and the service was attentive with a splash of "feels like home." Everything was clearly itemized on our bill, and there were no surprises. It's clear they care about quality and providing a complete dining experience beyond a great plate of food. Large portions, delicious food, well-made cocktails, solid service, and a unique setting compelled us to tip handsomely. It was a great experience. If you are in St. Helens, this place is worth your time. I'll absolutely be back. We left genuinely impressed!

Food's good. We're usually here after an appearance so only snacking, but the snacking options are…read moresolid. Wasn't here for the food, though, was here for the absolutely stunning whiskey selection and the fact that this is easily the best Old Fashioned between the Willamette and the ocean. No, really, your fancy stuffy Portland bar does not pour as good and Old Fashioned. And every time, that's the Klondike. The bartenders are awesome and friendly, the...no, sorry, man, the Old Fashioned. I gotta keep talking about it, because it's that good. (Oh, also the zero proof selection is fire. Had some egg nog concoction back around Xmas when I had to drive and you know for an 0.0 that was 100% tasty.) I don't know the magic. Their Manhattan and Brooklyn, also solid, but it's getting the perfect balance in the cocktail and it's real hard to find anything that holds a candle at twice the price. Now, is it Decibel good? Yes, actually, with the same vibe of that I don't feel weird as a blue-collar type here, nor am I surrounded by blue-collarosplayers, a big problem in Portland. So, yeah, amazing to get a snotty bar quality Old Fashioned at a welcoming place for a welcoming price. You should stop in and make sure you're not wearing socks you're too attached to because it will knock them off.
