Definitely one of our new favorites!!! They mainly do take out. There are only had two tables and a small counter if you want to eat in. We had no problem getting a table though. The pork ribs were yummy. No sauce needed! The beef brisket was very lean and tasty. I did add some sauce to that, which was also good. The beef rib (special of the day) was huge and flavorful. My girlfriend took most of it home after she got full. The sides were all good. At first I thought a vegetarian could make a meal of the sides, but then I realized the German potato salad had bacon in it. I also had the cucumber salad. We also had the mac' n' cheese, and coleslaw. Aside from the delicious meats is the amazing corn bread. Eating pretty much any New England cornbread is like trying to swallow a fist full of sand. I'm not an expert on Texas bbq, and rarely get American bbq in general, but this place seems worth checking out. We ordered takeout for lunch. I got the brisket fried rice. The brisket was tender and I didn't need a knife to cut it, it was delicious. The fried rice is actually Asian style, not the best I've ever had, but not bad at all. My husband got the burnt ends sandwich which was also melt in your mouth tender and juicy and seasoned really well, but seemed a little pricey at $22 for the portion size. Cornbread was pretty good, not dry at all. The corn elote salad wasn't really our favorite--I think I want to try the cucumber next time. This time was for a work lunch and we're already kind of planning our next order. Maybe one of the combos so we can try multiple bbq meats. read more

TLDR: No customer service at the high level. Cocky attitude. Doesn't see customers as people or care about the struggle of being on your last dime until pay day. No accountability. They don't stand behind their own website. It's your fault not theirs. If I could give zero stars I would. I've been going to this place since they opened. Gave rave reviews because the truth is that their food IS bomb. What has changed my mind? I attempted to place an order online with the last of my money because I wanted something good after a long and very bad day at work. The money was taken and the order did not fully place. I spoke with the kid up front and the manager- who were pretty reasonable and maybe understand the struggle of life nowadays that we are all feeling a bit more than the "chef" aka owner MIKE. I had explained to the manager that it was the last of my money, and if they could please just honor the food I would really appreciate it and that if the money ended up being refunded back to me I would come back and pay them. And I would have. As you can see by my previous reviews I was a big fan. The manager told me to come in and if the transaction looked legit they would help me out. When I arrived at the store, I showed the manager the transaction showing that I was in fact charged the money, but the order would not place. He had a completely different tune and said he had "talked to the chef" and he would not let food leave the kitchen without payment. I asked to speak with him. He put the call on speaker for everyone to hear which was humiliating mind you, and proceeded to talk to me like I was a number not a person. Over $19.12 he preferred to lose me as a customer and told me that I was never his customer anyway if this interaction lost me. Not only that, after HIS website and payment system FAILED to place my order even though I was charged he literally said it was MY fault. At that point I couldn't believe I wasted my time talking to these people and expecting to be treated like a customer. Their business must not be doing all that great if he was willing to treat me in such a way over such a small order too. I was pretty angered by this. And you know what the staff did in reaction? They laughed. I have to say this is probably the worst customer service I have EVER experienced in my life. I've been working in customer service for 30+ years and I can't even IMAGINE treating someone this way. The Purple Pig BBQ should have way more reviews--unless the locals are intentionally keeping it a secret! I consider myself somewhat of a pit master when it comes to brisket, so my standards are high. After eating here, all hope of finding anything better has pretty much disappeared. This is, hands down, the best brisket I've ever had. The texture was absolutely perfect, and the bark was unreal. I honestly wanted to ask the pitmaster to reveal the secrets behind it. The collard greens were another standout. I actually asked if they were good before ordering because great collards are hard to find. The best I'd had before were in Fort Myers back in March, and nothing since had come close--until now. These were another easy 10/10 and, once again, the best I've had. The sausage was very good, but it's almost unfair to compare anything to that incredible brisket. The cowboy beans were also delicious. The hush puppies just weren't my personal favorite, but when everything else is this exceptional, that's a minor detail. The corn bread was also incredible, almost didn't get to try it before I finished writing this! So run, don't walk, to Purple Pig BBQ. One of the best BBQ places I've been to happens to be in the middle of Massachusetts. I know, it's crazy, but hear me out. I've been all over the country looking for great BBQ. I've made a point to get to Franklin BBQ, Lewis BBQ in Charleston, South Carolina, Horn BBQ IN Oakland, CA, or even Matt's BBQ in Portland, OR. I feel like I can actually tell people something about good BBQ, and why it's worth visiting a place over others. The Purple Pig is run by a guy who grew up in Texas and obviously trained under some great pit masters. The place itself is really not much. There are two tables and a little bar to sit at. They have no restroom, which was pretty disappointing. Thankfully, the dispensary next door was very nice to let us use theirs. Anyway, my uncle and my nephew were with me and we were hungry, so we ordered their family dinner for $95. It had a full rack of ribs, a pound of brisket, two huge sausages, three sides and lots of cornbread. I think this is a great deal for the amount of food you get. After ordering the food came out very quickly. The beef brisket was really amazing. The cut he gave us was a perfect mix of fat and meat. The rub he makes is savory a good blend of salt, pepper and onion. It was really tender meat but also still had firmness as well. The pork ribs were perfectly cooked and fell off the bone nicely. I love the rub he makes for the ribs as well. It is both sweet and savory. The sausages were smoky and peppery. There were two sauces and both were Texan style with a tangy tomato base, but one was spicy and the other not. Both excellent! For the sides, the Cowboy Beans were a standout: these were some of the best beans I've had at a BBQ joint. The cornbread was also really good and the Mac and cheese was solid. The coleslaw was the only side that I thought was just pretty average. I hope that was a helpful review of things. They have so many other things to try on their menu, but sadly I won't be back in this area anytime soon. I hope others will venture out and find this place. read more

They have made some changes like offering more specials and highlighting using local quality ingredients. The Purple Pig did not disappoint!! Delicious BBQ and great service! You can't go wrong with any of the meats but I ordered a tasty brisket and pulled pork. Spicy collards and beans as my side were great and the huge cornbread cube made for a perfect meal. The burnt ends were large and Mac a cheese hit the spot. I have food allergies and sensitivities. For me. This means dining out is tricky. This quaint BBQ spot treated me with kindness and consideration. I said that if I have garlic or onion, I get very sick..but i really wanted the chicken fingers (which usually have onion powder in the breading). Without skipping a beat, the chef said that he could absolutely accommodate my allergy and just use plain flour. They were PERFECT Crunchy outside, tender juicy inside and full of flavor. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich and cornbread. He adored both. He said the pork was tender and full of flavor. The cornbread was delicious and moist. Purple Pig is your simple casual bbq small takeout spot. They also got a few bar stools and two other tables to sit in to eat. I thought this spot was pretty solid with some good bbq. We had the three meat plate that comes along with sides. We went with two portions of pulled pork and roasted turkey. Both pulled pork and turkey were very moist. Corn bread was also included and was tasty. They also have their sauces in house which was pretty good too. Also had their Mac and cheese which was also tasty. I was thrilled to see Purple Pig when I searched for local food options. I'm not sure how I missed it for so long (they've apparently been open since 2023), but it's a welcome surprise. The Mac & cheese with smoked chopped brisket is tasty, especially the brisket. The Mac & cheese is.. "good", maybe a 6/10. It's a fairly standard creamy cheese. It would be better with a mixture of cheeses that includes at least some sharper flavor, and a little texture variation. I'd eat it again for sure, but not as a main. The hush puppies are also good, and I liked the Cajun sauce they serve it with. The cornbread was better than most in the area. Nice big piece and moist. It's a sweeter variety without kernels or graininess, but that's a preference thing. All in all this is a good local barbecue option. read more

It's not southern bbq, no real flavors other than a strong vinegar even on the nachos. The portions are good size. The prices, ouch, I say prices are a reflection of the current economy. For nachos and 1 meal it was over $65 dollars. For that, I can go to Costco buy ribs, 10 whole chickens and nachos. It's a small shop 2 tables to sit. Not in the nicest shopping plaza. Staff are friendly and attentive. We're not going for any second visits between the price and no flavor. Remember that's all personal preferences not necessarily the business's intention. read more

Over the counter joint with two 4-tops. Blackboard menu. No bathroom. New York pricing without New York overhead or quality (or amenities). Got a 3-meat combo that included a half rack of ribs (can't get less) for $38. A 3-meal without ribs is $33. It's still early, so food may improve. Nice people. The run-down: Brisket: Somewhat juicy, more flat than point, semi moist but on the steamy side and dried out quickly. Not much color, smoke, rub or flavor, but no dealbreakers. Good tenderness. Ribs: Saucy but not crazily so; it's just that the sauce was sort of a 1980s generic flavor. The ribs underneath were certainly smoked but no color and very little rub or smoke flavor. On the plus side: nicely juicy and tender, though the meat pulled off maybe a little too easily, like a rib canoe. Pulled Pork: Saucier than the ribs, almost to the point of being a chili. Had the texture of whipped mashed potatoes. Seriously. But under the sauce and whipped texture was a flavorful batch of pulled pork. This has potential once they get their sea legs. Mac and Cheese: Decent; creamy. Coleslaw: Meh; too mayoey; tasted storebought. Cornbread: Huge block; sweet but one of the better Twinkie versions out there. Moist with a Play-Doh texture in a good way. Was hoping to see a place in the same city give Firefly's some competition so that they put more effort in, but this ain't it, unfortunately. BEST CORNBREAD EVER!!! The restaurant is cute, mostly takeout but two tables for those who want to dine in. The service was great! Very attentive and friendly staff, and wait time was under 20 minutes on a Saturday night. The food was great! The ribs were fabulous! Burnt ends and tots were solid. Mac and cheese could use some seasoning - but still okay. The cornbread on the other hand.... absolutely to die for. The BEST cornbread i have ever ever had it absolutely is indescribable. This BBQ takeout place serves up a variety of smoked meats (chicken, pulled pork, brisket, sausage, burnt ends, wings, St. Louis ribs), sandwiches/paninis & snash burgers (with tots), meat plates, fried haddoc, chicken & waffles, sides (mac & cheese, salads, cole slaw, cajun rice, baked beans, brussel sprouts, chili), street corn, Lays bagged chips, loaded baked potatoes, Fritos Pie, and corn pudding. The prices are moderate here. They offer online ordering through Square and DoorDash. The place is cozy which has an order/pickup counter with open kitchen, big menu boards, 2 tables, and Mortal Kombat game. Southern blues music plays over the speakers here. I placed an online order for takeout recently. I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Tater Tots ($14 plus tax), Mac & Cheese ($6 plus tax), Potato Salad ($5 plus tax) and Corn Pudding ($7 plus tax). My order was bagged and ready in about 15 minutes after ordering. The place was steady busy when I arrived here with plenty of DoorDash orders here. I enjoyed some of my dinner in the eatery. The portions of food were appropriate for the pricing.  First, the good. The Mac & Cheese had a great cheese flavor and not overly cheesy sauced with bacon bits and firm elbow macaroni in the mix. The chilled Potato Salad was creamy with firm potato pieces. The Tater Tots were hot and crispy. The Pulled Pork Sandwich had a dense soft mix of pulled pork, slaw, and melted American cheese on a toasted buttery bun. However, the pulled pork was way too salty and I tried some Purple Pig BBQ sauce with the meat, but the saltiness was overwhelming.  The Corn Pudding was served hot and I was expecting some sweet flavors, but this corn pudding was also very salty to eat. I would have thought both would have a slightly sweet taste (sugar & salt look similar?) Overall, it was okay and I would try this place again, but order different BBQ meats and sides next time and hopefully I get a less salty experience. Ordered from the Purple Pig today. I got the Combo #3 which included Ribs, burnt ends and brisket. The ribs and burnt ends were some of the best I've had. The brisket had decent flavor and was tender, however it was a bit dry. As for the sides. The collared greens were great. The Mac and cheese were ok at best. The Mac was creamy yet bland. The standout as far as sides go was the cornbread, very moist and delicious. The banana pudding was ok, not great, not bad, probably wouldn't order it again. Meats were good but sides disappointed. Both sides we ordered were prepackaged as of four day ago (the date was noted on the bottom of the cup). I am a chef myself and would never serve anyone salad which spend four days in my fridge. We were left with meat and no sides to go with it. Had to take it home and make sides myself. The first thought when the food entered my mouth was, "What the FLIP am I eating?" Instead of being tender, delicious, and buttery, it was so tough to chew that it seemed like nothing but fat. I ended up with explosive diarrhea and had to go to the ER for treatment. When you look at the food, it really does resemble something you'd see in an alien world--something that might make you lose consciousness. I had to mentally prepare myself before eating it, thinking this restaurant would offer a unique and delightful experience. However, it was anything but enjoyable. It resulted in days of trouble with my toilet due to the severity of the diarrhea. The service was a bit strange because it was a takeout order, so I didn't interact with the staff directly. Based on my experience, I won't be returning. If you enjoy this kind of food, that's great for you, but if you're sensitive to meat or prone to digestive issues, I'd advise you to avoid this restaurant. read more

First time, seated in the restaurant, the pulled pork bowl was just ok as it was served tepid. Second time was take out for the brisket sandwich. Mediocre is too generous a description. Once again, tepid temperature, stale bun and the meat had that shiny/rainbow sheen that says to me "old meat." Gross. I was so disappointed because the brisket sandwich was 18 bucks and I was really in the mood for some excellent BBQ. Well, fooled me twice, shame on me. Never again. read more

I got the brisket sandwich, potato salad and corn bread for take out. Takes about 20 min from when I ordered to be ready. Slightly disappointed by the sandwich as it was sort of served as cold, the cheese wasn't even melted. The meat is tender and breaks rather well but it's and uneven coating of seasoning and bbq sauce was lackluster. The tater tots were seasoned nicely and still crispy, but it wasn't as hot either. The potato salad was solid. It's more on the celery/mustard flavored taste. The corn bread was probably the best, you get a good size for $5 and it is soft that it breaks off pretty easily. it's just a perfect amount of sweetness with not too much cornmeal that could make it too dry. read more

The ribs were tough and chewy, the chicken was dry underneath nicely tasting skin, and the brisket was acceptable but not as moist as it should be.
