This was our first time staying here and we will 100% come back. I took my husband here for his 40th birthday as a surprise and they were so helpful from the first email where I asked questions all the way to the very end. They helped me make the hotel reservation, book a tee time, and even had a birthday card, chocolates and wine in the room for my husband when we arrived. Such a nice surprise to walk into. We did a little of everything while we were there. We golfed at the beautiful golf course. Everything there was perfect. We rented the ebikes. And we ate at the Covey three times. The first time we came after checking in a little bit on the later side that evening. We had small bites and a few drinks. We were talking with the (very nice) bar tender and waiter and one other gentleman who may have been the manager. We came back the next day for a togo breakfast and drink while golfing and made reservations for dinner that evening. The dinner was great and at the end they came and sang my husband happy birthday and brought him dessert. (I did not ask them to, they remembered us from the first evening and that it was his birthday. It was very unexpected but so very appreciated.) Great experience from beginning to end! This was a nice place to stay at. It is situated close to some shopping centers, grocery store near by etc. We stayed for four nights here and had no really big complaints about our stay. We normally get a suite with two rooms due to our kids but this room had two queen beds in the room. Came furnished with a small refrigerator, breakfast nook, patio chairs, separate bath tub, and stand up shower. It fit us well: my only qualm about the room was that it was hardwood floors style where the floor was extremely dusty/dirty. We ended up getting a swifter to clean the floor since when I went to sleep it felt grimy and felt like sand was in my bed even though we didn't go to the beach yet!!!! The staff at the front desk was always friendly and helpful. I was telling one of the front hosts that it felt like Xmas since they have a gas fire in the lobby and it just feels like a scene out of a hallmark movie! The place has a heated pool. They have floaties for the kids to play with and there is a spa/massage area next to it with a yoga station and work out station building. I wish they had a spa to relax in but they do not have one. They have a putting greens all around the place. A nine hole putting green course. At night you can get these glow in the dark balls to putt. The kids and I loved it since we golfed each night to unwind. I didn't get a chance to play a round here or hit the range but it is located down the street with a nice quiet restaurant. They have a boche area near the pool for you to play and in the lodge they have a billiard and dart area to play. In the morning you can get breakfast there. They have a nice selection of food but a bit on the pricey side. The staff that helps with the food are friendly and hospitable. I would love to come back and play around!! read more

My stay at the Quail Lodge really began with a lot of research into what kind of experience I wanted in a short two-night stay which was really focused on a bicycle ride from Castroville along bikeways to Point Lobos. What this means is my focus was not on playing tourist in Monterey, strolling along Cannery Row, or visiting the Aquarium or taking photos everywhere. Others had told me to beware of hotels which charge for parking, to decide on if I wanted the hustle-and-bustle of Carmel, and if a more quiet area like Carmel Valley would be nicer. I used Yelp to research places and found the majority of reviews to support what I wanted in a hotel and zeroed in on the Quail Lodge and Golf Club, albeit they were written pre-Pandemic. Many reviews were centered on a stay which included playing golf but many reviews seemed to resonate with my desire for peace and quiet. Once I eliminated the others and found the Quail doesn't charge parking and was therefore not in a crazy-busy area, I used my AAA membership to research the rate and get what I hoped was a break on the stay, a Fri and Sat night, verifying by calling the hotel directly. I also made sure they knew our dog Lola was with us. No problem! It was Lola's first stay with me away from home. Arriving Friday night, both Lola and I had a tough time sleeping all night due to some sort of mechanical noise that would cycle on/off, which really ruined my Saturday, unfortunately. However, I believe the Quail folks will see to this, perhaps making sure they concentrate if they visit the room, and listen intently while inside room 274 to isolate what I think was a fan with an old bearing. Perhaps an ice machine? Ventilation machinery closet nearby? Not having slept well before a ride made me pretty upset but in the end, that didn't totally taint my ride the next day. That afternoon, we did some shopping at The Crossroads shopping center (not far, as the junction of 1 and one stop S of Carmel Valley road). On the way back we overshot the Quail and I took us up the road, up the Valley to Carmel Village and found a small winery off the beaten path behind all the other tasting rooms which was really nice. The vintner had lost a great deal of equipment in a fire but was there, still pouring wine! It was nice to get to know real people in the middle of such a touristy area. He was so nice and recommended several places to eat, but I desired somewhere close, so we went to his recommendation, the Corkscrew, a simple restaurant with nice wines he liked, the Cowgirl and Endless Summer wines, which were nice! Back to reviewing Quail, the Pandemic has affected the ambiance as the ability to serve food was lessened, and the restaurant/bar was closed when we arrived around 9pm on a Friday. Bummer, as I really could've used one glass of wine after a 3 hour drive. But the front staff was unusually firm and instead offered a $44 bottle of wine they sold near the entrance they knew nothing about. Pass! I don't think it would've killed them to offer a simple glass to each of us on arrival. I would've paid for it. Anyway, the room was clean and nicely laid out. The staff was very unassuming and kept to the background and the whole area was QUIET! Very very nice. If I golfed, I think I would've been in heaven. I loved my room as it was on the bottom floor and had a patio (I didn't know it was there until Sunday morning as it was dark every time we were there it seemed) which in retrospect I could've enjoyed if I brought a cooler with my own food, beverages and plates/utensils/table cloth! That is what I'll do next time. My little complaint about the mechanical noise is probably attributed to the buildings actually being old (they sort of look it from the inside----'70's?) with updated furnishings. Another problem we had was we had no idea the TV had any sort of program guide to what was playing so instead we were forced to scroll channels one by one, all 60 plus of them! Not a big deal, but I think communicating that, as well as where the WiFi password was at check-in would've been ducky. I also loved the proximity of my parking spot to the room which was nice as we had to make about 4 trips each to lug our stuff back-forth, whew! There are plenty of places (malls/villages/shopping centers) to shop/eat down the road which makes a stay here convenient. Everything else, like I said before, was nice, bathroom, linens, overall cleanliness, all good! Would I come again? Yes, I think the Quail Lodge is a nice place to stay, especially if you play golf, especially if you want to get a flavor of the Carmel Valley, especially if you want a break from the "Disneyland" aura of the Monterey Peninsula and enjoy a really nice quiet stay in a relaxing setting. But, next time I'll bring some earplugs and my own bottle of wine! read more

You don't have to be a golfer to enjoy the spectacular grounds and immaculate rooms. I love the quiet and peacefully relaxed atmosphere here. It's convenient to drive into downtown Carmel or visit the beautiful shops and restaurants near the lodge. You don't really need to leave for anything if you're in the mood to relax and have a completely different quiet holiday. I went with a dear friend and we did some exploring and ate at some fantastic places. I think I could have stayed for a week. I really love the huge deep bathtub. I treated myself to three decadent baths a day. Everything was immaculate when we returned to our room. We didn't eat at the lodge as we had a few places we really wanted to try. Next visit, will try The Covey. Highly recommend this quintessential California lodge. You will feel relaxed and happy. Plan to return soon. I love it!! read more

Here's my full and honest review: The rooms need updating.... they're outdated and far from luxury. For $500 a night I was expecting much nicer. The bed and sheets were budget hotel quality. Paper thin comforter, stiff bed, bad pillows. The towels were scratchy and cheap. I'm not a big fan of tiled bathroom flooring in hotels. Grout is difficult to clean... time to rip it out and put in some marble floors. Overall shitty quality room for the price. They didn't even try to make it nice. On a brighter note: the staff is fantastic and very hospitable. They leave you a bottle of wine to enjoy in your room and you can play put put for free during your stay. Also free parking, which is a nice perk. Not much to do in Carmel Valley and restaurants are limited... but it's a short 15 minute drive to Carmel-By-The-Sea. I personally wouldn't stay here again unless they were to gut and re-do the rooms. read more

I have been a fortunate guest of Quail Lodge three times now. My first was in 2017, and the experience was on point. Being pet friendly drove our decision to give them a try. We were absolutely delighted. My next was one month ago when we were saying our goodbyes to our Standard Poodle of nearly 18 years. Quail was the sanctuary we needed for the last few days together. Our most recent stay was this last week. Their two bedroom suite is truly the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy time with family and friends! Every interaction with Quail associates has been delightful...in every way. There has clearly been a concerted effort to create a positive atmosphere and uplifting experience for guests. They succeed. I love this special spot and deeply appreciate the people that make this establishment what it is. My sincere gratitude to one and all at Quail. Pros: reasonably priced for the area, large rooms, pet friendly, employees have always been very nice Cons: this is NOT a luxurious or romantic place to stay- which is fine, but I think that's not clear from the website. Rooms are dated, amenities are very basic, and the patios attached to the rooms are old & don't offer great views. Overall its a very relaxed, pleasant place. I love this place! We are lucky enough to stay a few times a year and it's just beautiful. The rooms, the grounds, the restaurants and the golf course. The employees are so accommodating and treat you as if you are the only guest staying at the resort. The course is incredible and the weather makes it even better. You feel like you are a million miles away when you are out there. It's so peaceful and the condition of the golf course is outstanding-one of the best. I will definitely be back-this is our favorite place to stay when we are in Carmel. You get the best of both worlds. You are close to Carmel but you are far enough out to have the beautiful sunny warm weather. Give it a try-you will never want to stay anywhere else. read more

This is a really cute place to stay. I enjoyed it very much. Nice drive to the location and the golfing area is kept up real nice. I had no problems finding parking on a Wednesday afternoon. The room felt cozy with a large bathroom. Super comfy king-sized bed, pillows and comforter! The shower had shampoo, conditioner & shower gel dispensers. Good sized tub, although we didn't use it. Mini Keurig coffee maker, mini fridge & $6 bottles of water. Coming back at night, it was amazing to hear so many frogs crooking! I was worried it would affect my sleep since I'm such a light sleeper, but I didn't hear a thing from the room. It was hard to leave that bed in the morning... We have traveled A LOT. But I do have to give Quail Lodge high marks. The property was clean, quiet, the staff was super-friendly and the pool and fitness facilities were top shelf. We didn't even have time to sit by the fire pits or try the putting course so we will try to stay longer next time. If you ever have a chance to stay, & golf here, I highly recommend it. It was my 3rd time golfing here, but the 1st overnight stay, & it did not disappoint me. We've been annually golfing here for the last 3 years, but actually stayed in the lodge this year. From our check-in, breakfast, round of Golf, to lodging, it was an excellent experience. The staff here was very gracious, pleasant, & outstanding. From the Front desk, Restaurant staff, Bar staff, Golf Club staff, down to the Housekeeping staff. The Course, & Accommodations are kept up to a high standard in my opinion, but you can decide that for yourself if you get the chance. The lodge was very roomy, I believe 2,000+ Sq. ft. with a lot of complimentary gifts, & Extra necessities if you forgot to bring something. The Course is Beautifully kept, with a great view of the Carmel Valley surrounding it. Key words are that this is a Lodge which means decent resort facilities with guest rooms that are fairly basic, no frills yet comfortable. Far from luxurious, but it is cozy/comfy. The guest rooms are spread out mostly surrounding their golf course. The pool and gym were not very populated which was nice. I noticed mostly older adults and very young families with some business groups mixed in. The restaurant and bar close very early and everything seems quite isolated and off the beaten path although there is a Mexican restaurant across the street that gets fairly popular on certain nights with a band and bar. I don't believe they offer any room service of any sort. Rooms had safes, iron/board, mini fridge and coffee maker with coffee. Milton Brown was their soap/shampoo/conditioner set on the vanity and shower. The towels were large and fluffy as they should be. Everything felt well-maintained and cleaned. Room walls are fairly thin so heard the people that stayed next door. read more

They were charging us $1400 per night - we stayed one night and I never got any sleep in their old bed - then just by luck (as very hard to get in last minute) we were able to get a room at the Lodge at Pebble Beach for $100 less per night. Facility grounds were well kept, the fireplace king room we booked was very spacious and updated, got to play a round of golf too. What stood out the most was their service. Ever since we checked in the front desk kept checking in via text messages, to make sure we had everything we needed. I requested slippers and robes, both were delivered directly to the room within an hour. The check out process was also very easy, we just confirmed via text and left without having to visit the front desk again. Only downside is the price tag, could be more reasonably priced especially considering there's no onsite spa. But overall a very nice resort. read more

My wife found Quail Lodge on Expedia as we were looking for a place to celebrate our 26th anniversary. She was looking for a quiet, relaxing place for us to take a break from our frenetic lives. She found the right place! Check in was seamless, the desk checked in with us via text messaging, and when we walked into the beautiful room here was a bottle of champagne on ice from our kids. The room was simple, but beautiful with vaulted ceilings and a fireplace. It was a room hat you didn't want to leave, I spent hours on the daybed next to the window. The staff was great, the electric bikes were really fun to ride, and dinner at Edgar's was great. Away from the tourist focus of the coastal areas, Quail Lodge was just what we needed. read more

After finding a pretty awesome rate via the HotelTonight mobile app, I decided to jump on it and take my family here for one night from Friday to Saturday. Checking in was a breeze and we were in our room in under 5 minutes after arriving. Front desk staff - VERY helpful, friendly, courteous, and everything you would want from the front desk staff. The room - we were given room 234, two queen beds in a first floor room not too far away from the lobby. Not sure how to describe the decor... old/modern with lots of rustic tile work in the bathroom? Shower was huge, large soaking tub to wash the kids down, mini fridge that can fit a couple bottles of wine, and the beds were decent. I wish they had more pillows on the bed though. I liked the little nook to sit down, have a snack and look out onto the grounds. The outside patio area only had one seat, but I was surprised how private it felt even though the neighbors were probably just 10 feet away. The grounds - beautiful landscaping, well kept, awesome putting greens for kids and adults, the pool was heated at 85 degrees, towels provided at the pool, it was simply beautiful... perfect for an engagement or family shoot. The food - I was told that we could order some light bites from the bar and sure enough, they packed it up "to go" for me. The fries cooked in duck fat were pretty awesome, but if they were cooked in the fryer just a minute or two longer, it wouldve been fantastic. The chicken and waffles were delicious as well. Other notes - This place is kid, family and dog friendly. I love the fact that they offer putters for the little ones so everyone can hit some balls around the property. Also, when we checked out, the lady at the front desk let my daughter talk on the walky talky and say "234 check out". It was a nice little touch as we departed the property. Summer getaway from 100 degree in LA to 60 degree in Carmel. It turned out to be golden 3 day vacation thanks to broken refrigerator in our room when we arrived.... Soon as we arrived, I tried to put some left over food and drinks into refrigerator but it was broken. We waited for service but they took a while to swap to different one. I think it might be the manager who was trying to assist us but it was late in the night so he just switched our room to junior suite from regular room. We didn't complain and We didn't say anything. We just patiently waited. We got the beautiful room with big living room and big bathroom. It was so nice we didn't want to leave our suite. Thank you so much for making our mini vacation into grand vacation. So happy and so grateful! Thank you for the accommodation! We will definitely come back again! Just stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights. Such a great place! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would suggest this place if you are a golfer or just love the outdoors. There is a 9 hole putting course throughout the lodge which is a fun thing to do to pass the time. The restaurant has great food (a little expensive) and they have a full bar with great bartenders. Our room was right over the pond and was so relaxing sitting on the balcony. I would recommend this place to any person who loves the outdoors. I have to drop my rating to a 1 star. We looked forward to a wonderful Christmas stay here and ended up disappointed. The heater broke overnight in our room leaving us to decide between floor heaters and blankets or move rooms. We had to cut our Christmas Day event short in order to go deal with this. After switching rooms a couple times, we found one that was suitable and comparable to what we reserved and planned to enjoy the holiday in. The next night however, there were people next door discussing and doing drugs - the smell wafted from their patio into our room. I called the front desk and asked security to do something or I would call the police. Suddenly a woman came running to the room - before security - and they all dispersed - to the other room next to us. Seems like employees were having some fun in an empty room and got a heads up about the complaint. We then got to hear them talk and chat loudly for the rest of the night. Yay. Front desk staff is great. Many thanks to Amanda for making our stay more bearable. The rooms need some TLC. Our rooms had lights that were burnt out and overall seemed a bit worn. read more

The managers of this beautiful hotel need to Improve a Lot. It feels very very impersonal and like all they care about is their bottom line. Check-in was a disaster, rooms not ready until well after 3pm, check-in staff uninformed, dull, not very friendly. They rebooted their check-in software while many folks were already waiting in line to get their room keys.. Showers at the swimming-pool changing rooms had no hot water, and the drains were plugged up. No coffee was available in the lobby, and the staff was too dumb to get me a cup so I could avoid waking my wife at 0600. We felt like the staff training was very bad. We expect to be treated better in a place like Quail Lodge, not worse than at a 3-star hotel. They were fairly good at apologizing ! But, I did not want apologies; I wanted the seamless experience I paid for. read more

Unless you are a golfer go elsewhere. This "resort" has 5 star prices but 3 star service. There are limited activities other than golf. The rooms are far from luxury... more like a basic motel room. There is no room service and the bar/restaurants close very early. No valet. No concierge. No room service. No mini bars. Coffee maker didn't work either. It is very quiet and there is very little if anything to do in the nearby vicinity. For the pricey accommodations I'd recommend staying closer to the center of town. Very basic. This place is a nightmare. Service is not a word I would use to describe my experience. We were missing linens for the extra sleeping sofa. When they brought our linens to us, they only brought only blankets and no linens. One of the lamps wasn't working. When we finally received the linens, the gentleman who brought them would/could not make up the bed for us. Then we called for some silverware and it didn't show up. Asked for some TP. Never showed up. This place is a giant sham. It's absolutely the WORST hotel I've ever stayed at. I cannot believe the price we were charged only to be forced to endure their torture. A disgrace. I've got mixed feelings. My husband and I got married at Quail Lodge on September 8, 2018. We immediately loved the grounds and it was the only venue we looked at. The actual cost of a wedding was affordable compared to other places. However, it turned out that the wedding coordinator we were working with was very unresponsive and gave us some false information regarding room rates. By the time we found this out, we had already signed a contract to get married there. So, we felt misled. Luckily, about 1.5 months before our wedding, the coordinator that gave us a headache through the planning process let us know that she was leaving Quail Lodge and that we would be dealing with Jenn and Alyssa on our wedding day. We had met them at our food tasting and we really liked them so this was a relief! From that day forward, Jenn was there to answer any and all of my questions....she is really great. Our families loved her as well. She made the day run smooth with the help of Francine. One other hiccup was that my mom and 94 year old grandma did not have a room that was ready on-time. Everyone else checking into the room block had no issues, but they were given the runaround. When they finally got into their room (after 3 hours of waiting around), the hardwood floors were soaking wet and it was now 3:45. Our rehearsal was at 4:00. They still had to get ready and the whole afternoon turned into a hurried, stressful time for 2 very important people. Aside from all of this, we loved the venue itself and the grounds. Our guests enjoyed their time at Quail Lodge as well and we have many people tell us how beautiful our wedding was. Maybe the first wedding coordinator didn't like us for some reason but when you are paying so much money for a wedding, you expect a certain level of service. To this day, my mom is trying to recoup some cost for the inconvenience during check-in but Quail Lodge continues to argue that nothing was done wrong. If you expect a wedding party coming in and have 20 rooms blocked, all rooms should be ready...no excuses. If you're interested, tour the venue and see how you like it! We loved it from day 1 and would not change that aspect at all. read more

Wife and spent the weekend there. Stayed in a premier king suites very spacious for the two of us. Great view of the golf course (putting greens and tee box). We were adjacent to the pool and fitness room, however, we did not use it. The staff were very helpful and hospitable. We are planning to come back again with our little one. Such a nice relaxing place to stay for the weekend. My wife and I were visiting the Carmel area for an event and stayed here. They price matched a discount that we found online and we enjoyed 3 nights here. The location is great and close to everything. It's just a short drive to Carmel By-The-Sea to walk around, shop, and only 15 minutes to Monterey. The pool area and fitness center were clean and convenient. Directly across the street from bar and dining options plus you have the club food called Edgar's. We were allowed to bring our pet and saw many other guests walking their 4 legged friends as well. The room decor is warm and tasteful. Everything was modern and the bathroom was quite large containing both a tub and shower. Each of the staff members that we encountered were friendly and always said "Hello" in passing. Chloe was very nice upon arrival and checked in with us throughout our stay to make sure all was well. Extremely expensive for a terrible experience. Tiny room, barely any lighting, dangerous bed frames, flickering lights, sketchy design, VERY thin walls, and it's like buying a new iPad each night. Would rate 0 if I could. read more
