First timers over here! Took the family to do something fun and something new - and this place did not disappoint! The ambience was a bit crazy due to a rock climbing completion going on but we were still able to get our climb on without it being super duper crowded. The people here (climbers and their families) are super friendly and gave us tips on how to get started, even helped us do a climb! The kids were ecstatic and got their wiggles out, and got to be active for an afternoon...I'm afraid we might be converted! read more

Local gyms are my favorite. Less crowds and it's not as intimidating. They have an interesting rating system, it's based on consensus, sometimes climbs are harder or easier than it should be. But the gym has good routes, bouldering, top-rope, and lead. The only problem I run into, are the Summer camps and classes, they're at least twice a day so you have to plan around it. read more

Not bad, as the only climbing gym in the Provo/Orem area. The facilities are nice. It is a bit pricey, compared with other (and even nicer) gyms we've been to, but you can get some great climbs in. You do have to be very careful about picking a good time to go, this place can get overcrowded very quickly, especially when schools is out for BYU/UVU. read more

The gym invests a lot of money into new equipment, setting and holds which means that the gym stays fresh and the holds don't get too polished. Thanks to the GM, Willis Knapp, for making sure that the gym is in tip-top shape. Special rates are available for groups and parties. Getting a membership is definitely the way to go even if you only plan on going a few times a week. read more

the quarry has been kind of a let down. with the gym being small, its made even smaller when the "quarry kids" occupy large portions of the gym during peak hours. the climbing sets seem wonky and disjointed. it's a nice enough gym with friendly staff but it's getting hard to pretend it's worth the cost. read more

This is a pretty sweet rock climbing gym, especially if you go with people who know what they're doing. I've been here many times, though I don't climb enough for it to be worth the $25 a month for a membership. On a Friday night, you're going to find a lot of people here on dates, which sucks. The guys usually take girls who haven't gone, because if it's your first time, it's either free or deeply discounted to climb (I can't remember which). If you can imagine a typical BYU date, this would be a prime example. Ishck. The climbs are constantly changing, which is pretty sweet. While the facility is not huge, they utilize the space really well. Nights are a good time to go during the week just because it doesn't seem to be too crowded. There's a wall that you have to be "licensed" to go on, just because there aren't any ropes at the top and you have to clip as you go. I haven't even attempted to do that. Overall, I love this place. There's a shop just off to the side of the gym, and they sometimes have some good sales on their shoes. I got a really nice pair of Mad Rocks for about $80...not too bad. They have all of the gear that you need, though you might want to price that stuff out elsewhere as well. The Quarry gives you a great workout and is a lot of fun...never disappointing. read more

The Quarry is pretty awesome. There are a lot of routes for all different levels, with top roping (rope is already set up), lead climbing (you bring your own rope), a few cracks, and a large bouldering area. The bouldering area is nice because that means you can still go to the gym even if you don't have anybody to belay you. They change out the routes pretty frequently. If you know someone that has a membership, you come for free with them on Fridays and cheaper on other days, though that doesn't include gear rentals, which is about $5ish for shoes and a harness. You can borrow a belay device and carabiner for free. They also have discounts for other things like ladies night, family night, etc. The prices for a pass have gone up, it's about $45/mon for single non-students, but the good thing is that now it's month-to-month whereas previously you had to sign a 12 month contract that was non-transferable. You may want to buy a pass at the beginning/end of summer or around Christmas as usually there are deals. In any case a regular day pass is $13 for adults so if you go 4 or 5 times a month then it's worth it, especially if you bring friends sometimes and/or take advantage of the free yoga. They do have some classes like the explore one which is a really good deal if you're considering getting into climbing. That's not as necessary if you have friends that are really into climbing, because they can just teach you as you go. Everyone that works there has always been really friendly. It's a good place to meet other outdoorsy, chill people, who are usually down to give you some pointers here and there, and maybe even climb with you there or outside. It's a bit of a different crowd on Friday and Saturday evenings though, and Fridays can get really crazy for that free friend deal so I know I try to avoid those times if I can. Also I've felt a little weird at times if there are like 30 people in the bouldering area and I'm the only girl but usually it's fine. All in all, whether your'e looking for a fun date or a new hobby/obsession The Quarry is a great place to go. read more

Brought my family here for the first time. They gave us instruction and equipment, both were excellent- and we spent the next two hours having a blast. Facility was clean, areas for climbing and bouldering. Doesn't look like much from the outside but inside it's amazing- highly recommend for family bonding time- no electronics, just laughter and relying on one another for belay and encouragement! I went to the Quarry today with my wife and niece who lives in town- we are in Provo visiting her. I climb regularly at gyms in so cal. Overall I would say this facility is nice and the variations within the route and boulder problem setting is really good too. I like the fact that members get to vote on the ratings of newly set climbs, it adds a nice social element when trying new climbs and discussing reasoning behind ratings with others in the gym . We went during the middle of the day so crowds were not a problem. My only complaint is the no loose chalk rule, they expect you to use chalk balls only. I'm just going to say it, chalk balls suck! I was missing my Friction Labs Unicorn dust for sure. I guess they figure that loose chalk makes the gym more messy. To be honest our chalk ball made a bit of a mess anyway. All around we had a good time though! read more

It's a cool gym and not too far from where I live. It's usually packed with college students when I'm there which means waiting or taking whatever routes are left over. I don't like how crowded the TR section always is but overall the gym is cool and people are nice. read more

I have been here a few times to get in some climbing exercise. The gym itself is small with not many options for climbing and things like that. However, you can get some good exercise in for the essentials to prep you for your next outdoor trip. The trip is pretty friendly and very helpful. I have always received great service while I have been there. I always recommend it to others. read more

Eh, its ok. Not a bad place to work a burn as a solid gym facility but requires some patience or willingness to elbow for space as it is consistently busy on almost all afternoons/evenings/nights. Doesn't really strike me as a place for serious climbers looking for a workout - more of a cliquish gym rats/novice scene. A sort of date night activity. The workers are nice enough people but I wouldn't be looking for real climbing info as the majority are college girls/kids that I'm guessing aren't getting hired due to their climbing prowess. Its a gym that follows with the popularization of dangerous sports and unfortunately indoor climbing has become a "sport" of itself as I hear with increasing frequency of people that have never climbed outside. Thus, they have never climbed, as far as I'm concerned. Kind of a snobby purist view, I know. Indoor climbing takes away the real essence of climbing and cheapens it. Pretty expensive too. Adding one more bureaucratic intrusion into simplicity and freedom. read more
