Although I live very close to this restaurant, I actually never realized it was open because the parking is in the back. We went there to celebrate a birthday recently, and the food was extraordinary! Highly recommend the shrimp, macaroni and cheese with barbecue pork, and the steaks. The service was excellent, and the inside of the restaurant was modern, up-to-date, and classy. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!!!!!! I've seen a few one star and two star reviews of this place, but they appear to have been from at least a year ago. As a former bartender, waitress, etc. I know what good service services and I know what good food/drink are. I would definitely go here again 100%. Let's start with the positives: the dining room was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and the espresso martini was perfect--although it did take 15 minutes to arrive after ordering. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. We chose The Quarry to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary because they've had great experiences in the past and even have a favorite waiter. Before we arrived, there had been a mix-up with our reservation, but thankfully it was sorted out in time. Although we were seated with the waiter my parents like, he had a full station of four tables in addition to our party of eleven, with no busser to help. From the moment we sat down, he already seemed on edge. When I politely asked about my martini, he told me to give him some grace because he "had a lot going on." I've waited tables myself, so I understand the stress--but being spoken to like a child by someone I'm paying to serve us didn't sit well. We had been sitting for over 30 minutes chatting and had to ask multiple times just to get bread. When dinner arrived, my mom was served first--her steak was supposed to be medium-well--and I received mine last, which was supposed to be medium. By the time we realized they had been switched, she had already eaten two pieces of the one meant for me, which was still red. I asked to have mine taken back, and the waiter seemed bothered. When it returned, the meat was tough from being cooked, smeared with butter, plated, then brought back in, un-buttered, recooked, replated, and sent out again. At that point, no amount of seasoning could save it. He took it back again, and I ended up just ordering a soup because most of my family had already finished eating. My mom also sat with an empty wine glass for over five minutes. I eventually had to go find the waiter myself, and once again he seemed more aggravated than apologetic. I really wanted my parents to receive the royal treatment for their milestone anniversary, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I understand restaurants get busy, but the situation could have been handled far better. I wish I could say the evening ended on a high note--that they offered a complimentary dessert, acknowledged the issues, or did something special for my parents, especially knowing they're longtime customers--but none of that happened. Even a sincere apology at the end of the night would have gone a long way. Instead, it felt like they simply didn't care how our experience had been, which said everything. read more

The restaurant itself is beautiful and perfect for date night, special occasions, etc. My girlfriends and I had our annual Christmas dinner here. We started with the meatballs, crab cakes and caesar salad. I can't decide which was my favorite as they were all fantastic! Crab cakes were much bigger than expected, meatballs were tender/flavorful and came with phenomenal toasted bread and that caesar salad was fresh/crisp as can be! For my entree, I ordered the hangar steak frites, medium-rare. The steak came out cooked correctly and the gorgonzola butter complimented it perfectly (and I usually don't even like gorgonzola!). The fries were just as delicious as the steak - I couldn't stop eating them! Our whole experience was wonderful! From the host who also helped clear plates and deliver food, to keep things moving, to our server Ryan, who was incredible. One of the best servers we've ever had. Super attentive and friendly with a good sense of humor. The food was all delicious. Starting with crab cakes (very fresh tasting and mostly crab meat) to the steak/mashed potatoes and the angel hair with scallops. Topped it off with amazing desserts. The flourless chocolate cake, but especially the cider donut with vanilla ice cream. Wow!! Great ambiance, too. We have been talking about checking this restaurant out for a while and so glad we finally did! Sat at the bar and tried the park carnitas taco, the port wine cheese spread, and the seafood chowder- all were wonderful, but the chowder- amazing!!! So full of flavor- We shared the duck special and I would order that again and again- perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. We stopped in for a quick bite on a Wednesday night. We have driven by many times and were intrigued. The good: The grounds and the restaurant are beautiful. The drinks were delicious and so was the food. The bad: We asked for our fish chowder first and our apps after. The chowder came out first with the side of creamed spinach. We were confused. Then all of the other apps came out right away. We questioned it to the bald guy who dropped off the food (not a waiter he looked like a manager) and he looked at us and said "well she must not have know that". Well, yes she did! His accusations were insulting and embarrassing. So sad because it is such a pretty place to dine but we will not be back. Just left The Quarry after stopping in 12/1/23 at 4:00 for a late lunch, right when they open. We've been here before, several times, and like sitting at the bar corner. Tonight was simply awful. Ordered the hanger steak, medium. Menu says it comes with parmigiano fries. When it arrived, the fries were non-descript, frozen food-service type with nothing on them but salt. I asked the server if these were the truffle or parmesan fries advertised. She read the menu description to me, and said I could've upgraded if I wanted truffle fries. I said these are just plain, not what's described on the menu. She said well, do you like them? That's the question. I said it's not what you advertise on the menu, that's the point. These are plain. I guess I thought maybe she'd offer to get some parmigiano fries. Oh well. Cut a piece of the steak. It was rare, not medium. It was lukewarm; even the butter on it wasn't melting. I slid the plate to the edge of the bar. It was a while before she looked over and saw I wasn't eating it. My wife was halfway done with her bolognese. I told the server this isn't medium, and she looked and said, no, it is not. It was so rare it was easily evident at a quick glance. She asked if I wanted it redone, I said no, I'm finished. My wife asked for a box for hers. Then server asked if we'd like to see a dessert menu! Um, no, we'll take a check. I said, in case she hadn't noticed, we're very unhappy, and we're gonna go. We paid for our 2 drinks, salad, and one entree. We left. I know folks say you should speak up so the restaurant has a chance to fix it. Well, we did. Even though the server didn't seem to catch on, we let her know we were leaving early because we weren't happy with the food or service. I thought, for starters, she could've offered to get the correct fries, rather than suggesting I should've upgraded in order to get what was advertised. Second, another steak, with maybe a comped glass of wine for the inconvenience while I waited, might've been nice. But at the very least, let a manager know you have a couple walking out because food and service was not up to par. Nope. None of those happened. Fair enough. Message received. You don't care. I was feeling seafood, and got pulled into pan roasted swordfish with a buttery corn lobster casserole as a side. Gimme. Inside had an upper crust vibe but not overtly so, and I found myself bookmarking the interior as a place to dine in post-COVID. Order was ready on time, and the staff actually ran my take-out to the parking lot, shouting my name while I was cranking an audiobook in the car. Stellar. Foodwise, the flavor of the burger is on point - temperature of the patty was over cooked. But y'all - the house bacon is some of the best in the area. I want to eat their brunch. Sad the $16 price excluded any sides. Love fries? Expect a $22 burger + side combo. Loved my swordfish dish and the lobster corn side was a total win. Brussels were disappointing - boiled with a salamander finish, but not enough to dry out the copious moisture that made the entire dish a wet cabbage pass. Calamari didn't stand out - it was fine. I came in on a Saturday night thinking I had a reservation. Of course I didn't; I clicked on Wednesday. Lesson learned: Always check the confirmation emails. Nonetheless we got seated. They were gracious about it. Our waitress was a delight. I had the gnocchi bolognese and it was terrific. The pasta melted in my mouth. The meat sauce was fantastic. My girlfriend had the lemon angel hair pasta and scallops. I tried part of one of her scallops; perfectly cooked. The night ended with another mishap, when I left my credit card behind with the slip. They called me promptly and were good about giving me a bit extra time after closing to pick it up. We had my brother's wedding shower here this weekend! Everything was perfect! Our server Janine was super sweet and made sure to check in throughout the event to make sure we had everything we needed! The restaurant is beautiful and matched the style of our shower perfectly! The food was delicious! The French toast was fluffy and cooked well! We asked for chicken broccoli Alfredo to be added and they easily accommodated. Don't know what happened to this place. I've been here twice (pre-pandemic). Service and the food were excellent both times. I was glad to see that this place is open so I decided to have my birthday dinner here. Some of my friends arrived very early and sat at the bar. They had no complaints. Service was great and so were the drinks. We moved to the main dining area at 7. We ordered appetizers (which we got within a reasonable time frame by pandemic standards) and entree which we didn't get until around 8:30. Per our server, the kitchen did not see our order. Not sure if that was really the case considering that she (the server) seemed off. I would not have been surprised if she forgot to put the order through in the first place. We were already about to ask for the check and leave when the kitchen brought the food out. The place closes at 9. We were one of two groups that lingered beyond closing time but it created a bit of a rush considering that we knew that if the other group leaves, it would be awkward being the only ones in the place. The other group did leave earlier. At least we were not overtly being kicked out after. We appreciate that the staff stayed past closing. But this would not have been necessary had we gotten our entrees in a timely manner. I realize that the pandemic created a whole host of staffing issues for restaurants. But this did not seem to be a case of understaffing. We had an assigned server and she wasn't the only one responsible for the whole dining area so it's not as though she was running around ragged all over the place. The kitchen was also churning out food. So either someone was not on their A game or we got the B team this night. On that note, the appetizers that we ordered were okay but my entree wasn't anything special. Overall, even the quality of the food seemed to have slipped a notch compared to my previous experiences here. Either that or the entree fiasco soured my taste buds. Oh well. Our table started with the seafood chowder, shrimp cocktail, beet salad and duck spring rolls. All great flavors. For dinner we had Lobster Roll (warm or cold) - a nightly special and had plenty of meat on a brioche bun. Really Good! Swordfish with succotash, chicken and a burger. Finished with two specials for dessert. I like how the (fantastic!) servers would speak about the chef and "his specials". While I usually stay away from "specials" these were really delicious. Plenty of parking in lot next to the restaurant. Large windows allow inside diners to enjoy the Quarry views too. Enjoy! read more

This place hits all the marks! Great food, excellent service, amazing atmosphere, and an overall great experience. Let's start with the food. The oysters were so clean and fresh, some of the best I've ever had. The duck egg rolls were loaded with duck, succulent and delicious. The bread with the garlic olive oil is perfection. The menu and wine list are perfect. The scallops with angel hair is the perfect dish with the balance of the rich buttery scallops and the fresh and light lemon pasta. The sword fish was cooked perfectly with a crisp crust but tender and juicy. The corn it came with was great and the potatoes were crispy perfection. The price is a little high but for what you get it's fair. The inside was gorgeous. I thought it would be dark and sleepy inside but it's the opposite. Beautiful floor to ceiling windows and a light bright and airy interior. I love the black and white interior design. Very comfortable indoors. The staff was fun! I loved talking to the gentleman about wine and our server seemed to really love her job and the food which made our experience even better. We were seated next to a table of 5 men whom were very loud and using language not suitable for an evening dinner with family. The server did not offer refills on drinks and even skipped people at the table. Food was over-cooked and orders were incorrect. This restaurant charges premium prices for service and presentation that is consistent with Olive Garden or Applebees. We did not complain and paid the bill. Discovered Quarry when I was on a mission to find a new restaurant near the Quincy/Braintree area. I had been here a few times when it used to be Nino's so there was a genuine curiousity to compare this to the former. I love what they've done to the place in terms of ambiance - very clean looking and plainly speaking, just beautiful. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and the presentation for the bread dipping oil was unique to say the least. Now here's my disclaimer - It's been a few weeks since we dined here but I still feel compelled to warn my fellow Yelpers to steer clear of their Lobster Risotto dish. Quite possibly the blandest risotto I've ever tasted (0 stars if Yelp would ever let us grade anything a 0). I order dishes with risotto on a fairly regular basis so it's hard to have recognition as the absolute worst I've ever had but it was. We also tried their calamari appetizer and while it wasn't bad, there was nothing memorable about it at all (3 stars). Only saving grace was the steak. Overall feedback was that it was pretty tasty but at $40, honestly I feel that there would be huge issues if it wasn't up to par. On the whole, I'm hoping that they're just ironing out the kinks being a new restaurant and all, though it's unlikely I will come back unless I hear some amazing new improvements. read more

Menu mix: The Quarry has an extremely talented chef. It is very clear as you read through the menu. Very well thought out dishes that are well designed with various elements that go very well together. It's the type of menu that is difficult to make a selection. Does the water taste of bleach? It's a pet peeve of mine when water is poured and it has a strong bleach taste. It's always an issue with the machine wash and rinse cycle. The water at The Quarry is quite good, there was a very "slight" bleach-ness but not bad. Drink pour: Nice wine pour is good, no skimpy pours, great drink menu Food quality: Top notch dining, I love seeing restaurants like coming to the area. As I said the chef is extremely talented and it shows in the presentation of the foods. I love the fried clam appetizer, it's New England favorite. I would only offer one critique as I prefer the clams to be a bit more crisp. They seem to have steamed at some point or may have hung in the basket to long after frying. The breading was soft and seem to be coming away off the clams. I still ate every one of them. For entrees I got the filet mignon and my wife got the pork chop. Both were fantastic. Foe dessert we split the cider donut dessert. It's was phenomenal !!!! I couldn't praise it enough. The espresso martini was watery and lacked that rich coffee flavor. Service: On this trip we were taking care of by Tiffany. She was wonderful kind and had great menu knowledge. She chose some great drinks from the drink menu and a great line that went perfectly with my fillet mignon. Value: 1 app, 1 large salad, 2 entrees (filet $$), shared dessert, 3 craft cocktails 2 glasses of wine came to about 220.00 ish with tip. I want to say just a little steep. Only because of the pricy not so crisply coated clams and the watery espresso martini . If these items were flawless I would be perfectly fine with the end total Bathrooms: Spotlessly clean! Would I return? I would absolutely return I have a long list of restaurants to try out but it's always nice to have a place close by that we enjoy. We actually canceled reservations at a place in Boston because the weather was so bad on this evening, plus we had been wanting to return to The Quarry. I am absolutely flabbergasted by the experience I just had at this establishment. I made a reservation via opentable for 8:15. Due to recent traffic issues in the area I showed up 15 minutes prior to the reservation. The hostess informed us that they were running behind on time due to this. Taking a seat at the bar which is awkwardly shaped and sunken on one side , we waited 10 min to get the bartenders attention. I will say this -the bartender was overwhelmed , clearly. There certainly should have been more then one bartender given it was the day before Valentine's Day. Today was also Friday the 13th let me point that out - still - 8:50 rolls around and we have still not gotten seated at our table. Therefor having waited almost an hour we decided to leave the restaurant. We received one round of drinks during this time. I went to the hostess to inform her we were leaving. She told us to give her another 5 minutes before she sat us and there were THREE parties ahead of us. I suggested she inform the owner we were all set. We came hungry prior to our reservation and wasted an entire evening out only to find this "hostess" was in fact the OWNER!!!! She ahowed zero remorse and offered absolutely no compensation for this horrendous expirience. Clearly this restaurant is run improperly and I will certainly never return. Husband's burger we asked for it to be well done with no red at all- we got a burn on the outside/raw Red on inside. We Asked for it to be with mash it came with fries. Still new to Hingham area 3 years now, we enjoy eating out, so with C19 figure we got set back a yr, just started going out again and tried the Quarry for 1st time. So nice ambience, like look of sunken bar area, the rest nice, clean, nice outdoor dinning as well. So to dinner. Three people, 1 ordered Salmon with the days special veg's in replace of risotto. Score 3.5 needed to be marinated or a side sauce? One person ordered the Chicken & potatoes, score 2.5, Brick chicken at Hingham cafe better, it was just mediocre nothing special. Myself, I ordered the Lamb chops with polenta & broccoli rabe special. Score, 2.3, I mean, it just missed the mark somehow, very small, and should have had some more grilling, again, as with the entire meal, it wasn't a bad experience, but it just did not meet exceptions. We order a nice Stags Leap wine, ( solid wine list) which was 104.00. Grand total bill 245.00 of which nearly half was excellent vino. Overall score 2.8. might go back for cocktail but not for dinner. read more

JT and I made a last minute reservation for Sunday brunch. At 10:30 AM, we walked in and were probably the third table to sit down. Things eventually filled in around us, but the reservation certainly wasn't necessary for a 10:30 AM meal. First impressions, the restaurant is beautiful. White, bright, clean... Despite the quiet restaurant, it took a fair amount of time between being seated and getting water...then it took more time after our water was poured and she sent over the build-your-own Bloody Mary/Mimosa cart...and then even more time before we actually got coffee and ordered some breakfast. We weren't in a particular rush, but it seemed like it would have made far more sense for her to simply make one trip over and get our whole order rather than the piecemeal service we received. It was fun to make my own Bloody Mary, but the end result wasn't very tasty. It was bland and watery with little heat. I had bacon and a pickle added on, but I wasn't given the "free" toppers like onion and olives. Those aren't standard, so be sure you ask for each and every item you want. The pastry basket featured a blueberry muffin, lemon scone and the apple cider donut. The blueberry muffin had good flavor but the batter was perhaps over-beaten. The texture was very stiff and dense. The lemon scone and apple cider donut were amazing. Like another reviewer, I would order a basket of those bad boys if I could. For my meal, I got the Lobster Benedict. The Lobster Benedict should have been called the Pancetta Benedict because though lobster was listed as the main ingredient in the dish, the pancetta overwhelmed it. There was far more pancetta than lobster. It was so tasty and the eggs were perfectly cooked...I just wished that the portion of lobster had been more generous. The potatoes on the side were great - full of flavor and not too salty. JT had the Big Tom's Breakfast (3 eggs, skillet cornbread, sausage, bacon and home fries). He loved the skillet cornbread and home fries, but the sausage links were stone cold (even cold to the touch). There were a few improvements that could have made this a four-star meal, rather than the 3 I settled on, but even as it stands, we agreed we'd love to come back to give the dinner menu a shot. I came here with my family for Sunday brunch and it was very nice. We hadn't all been together for a while, so this quiet, bright restaurant was perfect for catching up over brunch. It's a white linen restaurant, even at brunch. My favorite part of the experience was the table side build-your-own Bloody Marys. They have all these pickled things you can add -- olives, bacon, shrimp, the usual, but also some unique things like pickled watermelon rinds. Downside of bloodys at brunch, split Marys everywhere... The bartender was awesome, he made my sister a "custom" drink. So I guess they're into mixology! Brunch itself was delicious. We started it off with one of those pastry baskets. I wish you could get a whole basket of apple cider donuts, those things were to die for!! For breakfast, I got the big plate, I forget what it's called now. But it came with a personal sized cast-iron pan of cornbread cooked just right with this dill infused butter that melted inside. Eggs anyway you want them, homefries, bacon, sausage, the whole nine yards. Everything looks good on the menu, I almost got the chicken and waffles. I was "turned on" to this place a few weeks ago and must say, Im a convert now! Whether you're looking for an incredible dining experience or just want to stop by for a cocktail, I can assure that you'll leave saying "WOW"! I've been to what are considered the "Heavy Hitters" in the South Shore Restaurant scene (Solstice, Scarlet Oak, Tosca, The Square Cafe etc) and The Quarry is heads above the rest. They feature a bevy of craft beers, wines and cocktails that are sure to impress. Can't make your mind up? Let the bartenders here suggest a cocktail, beer or wine that will suit your taste. These bartenders are TRUE PROS! "David" is part master mixologist and mad scientist! Some of the other reviews touch on a few menu items that are incredible. This review is strictly for the bar service. I had a less than satisfactory experience with the host and wait staff but Mike, the bartender was a real stand up guy and made my night. I will go back in the future to give it second chance. The burrata was excellent as well as the oysters were good as well. I'm not going to comment on my entree because I think it was an off night.
