Make sure you check out the new patio!!! I meant to write this a few weeks ago... but my wife and I stopped by to check out the new outdoor seating they built and it was awesome. The full menu is available outside, but the ambiance was pretty awesome. The lighting was just bright enough but dim so you can enjoy the evening, and the patio overlooks the actual quarry behind the restaurant. A great addition to one of our new favorite restaurants. We went for New Years 2017, and I'm afraid it will be our LAST time going to the Resturant. For the price of the food, the service is on par with MACDONALDS! Our waitress had "I could really care less about you, just tell me what you want off the limited New Years Eve menu." It was also my birthday and we had my sister & brother-in-law with us. I was embarrassed we brought them there. The waitress could not get the correct meals in front of us for each course. Now mind you there were limited choices per course. And each time we had to wait to get her attention to have it corrected. I drink my water with no ice & when I asked for that, she looked inconvenienced and brought back what looked like dirty water and disappeared so it took a while to get my water. I am gluten intolerant and when I asked what items on the menu could be done to accommodate my dietary request, she pointed out that of the two pasta choices, one could be done with gluten free pasta. Then just before being served the pasta, was told the chef "could not find the gluten-free pasta?" I know this is no reflection on the waitress, but she didn't seem to care. I could go on, but the real kicker at the end was she removed my drink before I was done, as if to make me/is feel like we should get going! Went to the quarry for NYE. Creative menu and a decent wine list. Everyone enjoyed their appetizers which included rich lobster bisque, excellent seafood chowder with salmon scallops and cod. Poached pear salad and Caesar were also fresh and tasty. My duck special was well prepared, tender and flavorful. I really enjoyed the lobster corn succotash, but unlike my friends, I didn't mind the level of spicy heat. I think this would be a better side without the added hot sauce and would appeal to more palates. My companions ordered the swordfish special. It was a very thin steak and over cooked. If you can't serve a thick piece of swordfish, just don't put it on the menu!! Desserts were great. Overall a pretty good dining experience, but this is New England, seafood has to be great so the Quarry needs a new fish monger! read more

The chef is a genius . I can strongly recommend the filet mignon and chicken Dish . The chef even selects the music play list . I brought some people i wanted to treat t a very elegant evening and the quarry did not disappoint. The wait staff is also very attenive I have become a regular as have friends i have brought . Julie and michael are tending bar and are on point with their mixology and service so equally great for dining there . I cant wait until they open the deck . We went to the Quarry for the first time for a family dinner on a Saturday night. I had called ahead to ask for a round table for our party of 7, and was told there were no tables to accomodate that number. We were seated at a long table for 8, where one person would be sitting alone. I asked the hostess to remove one table so that we could have a conversation, and she eventually did. I then noticed two large booths (round) and a round table that was purely decorarive, in the middle of the restaurant. I would have liked to sit at one of those three choices. The food was very good and the service was above average. Overpriced, but delicious. The owners (I assume?) tried to help deliver meals to the table, and didn't know what any of us ordered. This restaurant is too pricey for servers to be unprepared. read more

There are choices to make at The Quarry: sit in the dining room, a beautiful high-ceiling, granite-block-wall space; or the bar, a small, cozy space; or the lounge next to the bar, with a wood-burning fire place and high-top table seating. Last Friday, we chose the bar, and it was the right choice. Full menu is available, and on Friday from 4:00-6:00 the apps are half price. And the drinks are always spot on. Shoutout to the 2 best bartenders around: Julia and Mike. Last Friday, as usual, the food and drinks were excellent. The Quarry is a place that you leave well fed and happy. read more

Menu is awesome. Food came out pretty good but not awesome. Service was terrible. Manager came by to see how the food was and we pointed out the 2 burgers we ordered were served medium rare rather than medium and thus were half eaten. She said sorry and did nothing. We also had to bring our bill to the hostess station to pay and our wine bottle to the bar to be packed as our waitress ended up with a big party and never came back. Outstanding!!! We first tried the Quarry when they first opened. THe owner/couple Ron and his wife who owned it, were very unfriendly, rude and unwelcoming, so we never came back. We heard they are gone and the Chef is now the new owner so we decided to give it a shot. Wonderful. The interior is beautiful, the service wonderful and the food.. Outstanding. Great meal last night. Had the pan roasted swordfish it was Absolutely delicious. Served over roasted corn with bacon lobster and roasted potatoes. Good portion. Would def reccomend. My husband loved his lemon angel hair with scallops. Another party had the fra diavolo and said it was great. Spicy. Very generous portion. Another party had the crab cake appetizer. Large crab cakes served over a small bed of greens. Would def try. Service was great. Our waitress was Taylor and she was knowledgeable about the menu and never rushed us. Haven't been here for about 5 years but would def come back and make this restaurant a regular. My husband and I had dinner here last night. We sat outside on the Patio and felt completely comfortable for our first dining experience during Covid. The food was delicious and the service was great. They really made you feel safe while enjoying your meal. The tables were spaced far apart and everyone working there had masks on. They had hand sanitizer located throughout the restaurant and arrows on the floor providing direction. We had the calamari and caprese appetizers, the steak and the salmon for dinner and chocolate cake for dessert with cappuccinos. Their wine and beer selection was great as well. I think we have found our new favorite spot on the South Shore. read more

Very nice interior! Can't believe we live so close and have never tried this place out. My one complaint is that our server was a little confused and kept asking us what we would like as our entrees. We explained we wanted to start with the Caesar salad and small plate mac and cheese to share, and that we would be ordering more... He seemed a little out of it. Not quite sure what the rush was because it was 3pm on a snowy Sunday and we were the only ones at a table in the bar area. We enjoyed our starters and then ordered the cheese board which was amazing. Great wine selections as well. We will be back to try more soon. read more

The newly opened Quarry restaurant is what had been Nino's for the past 17 years or so. They have remodeled a little and it feels more open and the color scheme has brightened up the whole place. The dark walls that used to be in e main dining room are now light colored and they have added some mirrors that make the place feel even bigger. The menus was completely revamped but a little small. That may change as time goes on, we will see. The wine list was greatly expanded. When we went there without a reservation because Nino's didn't used to take them in the past. They were booked but had a table for us in about 25 minutes (not bad for 7pm on a Sat nite). The staff was friendly and seemed to know the menu. The shrimp cocktail was 4 VERY LARGE shrimp with plenty of cocktail sauce. The dinner was perfectly cooked and well presented. The service was good. The pricing is higher than years past but the food was definitely worthy. As they settle in to this hidden gem of a location I expect things will only get better. We will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone looking for something new read more

On vacation we were looking for something new and different. I did a little research on yelp and was intrigued by this place. I had eaten at Nino's several times and found it to be unremarkable and had not been there in several years. As usual we arrived around 5 and the place was just about deserted and my wife was reluctant to even go in. I am really glad we did. The place has been very nicely remodeled but still sports the huge windows overlooking the old quarry. We made our way to the bar and we were greeted by Sandy the bartender. Part of the bar was occupied by some of the other bartenders that were being trained on new cocktails. Custom crafted cocktails are one of their specialties and they update their offerings quite often. My wife ordered a Royal Politan a variation of a cosmo with passion fruit that she loved. I had an Exit Music with tequila and pear liquer that was excellent. Sandy was extremely informative. They make everything from scratch (including their pasta) from local sourced organic ingredients. She recommended the chef's board and a lumbrusco sparking wine for appetizer. The board was covered with 3 cheeses and 3 imported meats as well as fresh sliced plums, homemade candied pecans, crostini and honey. The wine went perfectly with the selections. For entrees my wife had the Buccatini all'Amatriciana. Freshly made pasta with pancetta and a rich tomato sauce that she rated as 5 stars. I had the lobster risotto which had lots of chucks of lobster and was just splendid. It's rare that I finish everything on my plate but this found me asking for more bread so that could sop up the leftover saffron sauce. Once again Sandy recommended the perfect wine to accompany our dishes. The bill for the two of us was $160.00 certainly a little expensive for this area but we both felt that it was well worth it. We will be back. And by the time we left it was far from deserted. Pretty busy for a Tuesday night. read more

Was hoping this was going to be a spot to frequent as the space is so warm and comfortable but at $160.00 for 6 pcs shrimp cocktail, 2 entrees and a few drinks .....it won't be a weekly stop. Went for brunch this morning with three others. We arrived at 10:20 and were the second table to be seated. Despite there being very few other parties and a lot of waitstaff milling around, it took FOREVER for our waitress to greet us and again to bring coffee. Then literally as soon as she placed the coffee on the table she bolted despite us having been ready to order for ten minutes. We waited AGAIN to finally flag her down and order (I still have no idea what she kept going, she had no other tables.) The food itself was so-so. I ordered Big Tom's breakfast and requested no sausage - came with it anyway. I was very disappointed in the cornbread but the rest was fine. Remaining in party got the omelet and English muffin (unimpressed) and croissant sandwich which he did like. Overall it was expensive and probably would not be back due to the food being nothing special and service downright awful. read more

I came for a weekday dinner as well as for a large group function, and both times I had exceptional food, service, and overall experience here. THE FUNCTION: I first had some of the toasted bread and cheese from the chef's board as an appetizer, which was delicious. I also tried the spice poached pear salad, which was one of the best salads I've had in awhile (and I'm a vegetarian). It was dressed perfectly, so that the salad had a light flavor that enhanced it without being overbearing. The spice poached pears were incredible - I could have eaten a plate of just them- and the hazelnuts and shaved parmigiano really balanced out the dish. I also had some baked potatoes on the side, which I didn't see in the regular menu offering, but were very good... And I really never rave about baked potatoes. These were seasoned perfectly. Service during the function was impeccable, especially for a very large group. THE DINNER: Our table of 6 first shared the hummus, figs, and a special soft-shell crab slider, after munching on the bread and seasoned olive oil that was prepared table-side. The hummus was good, and a perfect appetizer for a small group. Our table all absolutely loved the figs- so much so that I finally just unwrapped the prosciutto from one (which my boyfriend ate) to try, and it was so worth it to skirt my very long-term vegetarianism with that appetizer. My boyfriend and his parents dug into the crab slider, which they loved and that had a pretty epic presentation... The crab was very lightly breaded, and had been done so whole, so that it appeared to almost be 'climbing out' of the bun. For my entree, I ordered the mushroom and asparagus risotto, which tasted amazing and was cooked perfectly. My parents both ordered the NY Strip steaks, which were cooked perfectly and very reasonably priced. My mom loved hers so much that she brought the tiny portion she could not finish home, to 'save room for dessert'. My boyfriend's parents ordered the swordfish and salmon, which they enjoyed, and my boyfriend ordered the Quarry Burger, which he promptly ravaged. The portions for all the entrees were spot on, and everything was served with an eye for detail and care for the quality of the ingredients. For dessert, my parents split the donut sundae, which they only stopped eating to rave about, and then ate more of. My boyfriend had previously had that dessert as well, and loved it so much he was going to order it again... UNTIL we were told that the bread pudding that night was chocolate and strawberry. We shared it, and I was originally just going to eat a bite or two since my entree was very filling, but it was so amazing I ate almost half of it. The caramel sauce was incredible, and there was enough of that and the whipped cream that you could eat some with every bite. My boyfriend's parents had the ice cream, which we were told by Chef Greg (who came by the table) was from a local farm that utilized a special, delicate pasteurization process which preserved the natural flavor of the milk. Everyone who tried a dessert with cream or ice cream could tell the difference, and I really appreciated that the Quarry not only utilized local farms for their ingredients, but so clearly was passionate about using the best possible ingredients. This attention to ingredient detail, food quality, and support for other local businesses is something so rare to see, and an aspect that especially sets The Quarry apart. As for our desserts in general, they were beautifully done but not at all skimpy - the portions were all perfect for sharing. The service was wonderful throughout the night, down to the very end when Chef Greg came over and talked to us when we were finishing our desserts. You could instantly tell how passionate he was about providing excellent quality food that was sourced in the best manner. The waitstaff was very professional, and the whole dinner was a lovely experience. Our table only ordered simple drinks (beer and wine), but I would love to try one of the cocktails (from the inventive and diverse drink menu) the next time I come in (which my family will likely be doing as much as possible, seeing as my mother is still raving about the food and experience several days later). The Quarry is certainly a restaurant to come to for more of a fine-dining experience, but the diverse selection of items (and prices) on their menu don't make eating here mutually exclusive from staying on a budget. My group came with the intention of having a dinner that was more of a 'treat', but I certainly could easily pick out less expensive options for a more casual night out. The quality of the food, care in sourcing the ingredients, level of detail in the presentation for the food and restaurant atmosphere, and professionalism and passion of the owners and employees working at The Quarry make it an excellent choice for a wonderful dining experience that's on par with some of the best restaurants in Boston! read more

I have sat on this review since dining on May 7th, but it is what it is so here goes. Service review: Service was an abomination. A total failure. Let me explain. We had a party of 14 celebrating my son's first communion. My wife made reservations for a several weeks in advance so this was not a last minute accommodation. This was Saturday 5/7 at 2 pm. 1. For starters, upon arrival, the staff attempted to seat us at 2 separate tables although we had a reservation for the entire party. They fixed this at my wife's request, no problem. 2. Our 10 and 7 year olds were hungry from the get go as it had already been a long day for them, so we requested some bread or rolls to tide them over. This simple request took forever. Cocktail orders were taken, filled and delivered before the kids got any bread. 3. We ordered 2 dozen oysters, these were delivered with cocktail sauce and one slice of lemon per dozen. No mignonette, no horseradish, no small forks. 4. We were 50 minutes into our service before water glasses were refilled, and then only upon my request. 5. When salads and other appetisers arrived we had a table full of app plates with oyster shells and dinner forks covered in cocktail sauce. Again this was only addressed upon my request. 6. Bread and dipping oil for the table were delivered after salads and appetisers. 7. Leading into the main course I asked to see a wine list. Imagine, an hour or so into the service and we had not been offered their wine list / specialty drink menu until I requested it, and even then they brought one list for a table of 14! 8. My aunt did not receive the coffee she ordered with dessert, until again we had to make another request. 9. We received attitude from the waitstaff for requesting water, replacing app plates, and clarifying who ordered which entree. Maybe they were understaffed, but they didn't seem interested in rising to the occasion to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. To be clear, any one or two issues would not have been a big deal, or perhaps even noticed or remembered, but the totality of one issue after another ruined what makes dining out such a pleasure. Food review: The food was ok but nothing wowed us. I thought Brodetto was under salted (a split / shared opinion) but still nice. However it should have been accompanied by a crostini or something to enjoy with the broth. The Fish filet was tasty but dry. My aunt commented that it should have come with more than one lemon wedge, but if it wasn't overcooked one wedge would have been plenty. The swordfish received positive reviews and looked nice. The hanger steak was good and cooked to order. The lobster sliders were nice. The pear salad was bland and the greens had brown bases. A chocolate cake prepared for us was excellent. So lacklustre service, OK food, poor execution and a bad attitude do not make for a fine, or fun, dining experience. I'll stick with Tosca's or Cafe Tosca when dining in Hingham. read more

The Quarry is what used to be Nino's in Hingham on Route 53. We went there last night because we had gift certificates that we never used from Nino's and they told us they would honor them. I was shocked and very happy. We walked in to a very nice and smiling hostess. She was very friendly. In the 10 steps from the hostess stand to our table I felt like we were at a friends house for dinner. Our waitress Kody came right over to the table with a smile and a knowledge of the menu like she owned the place. I had asked her to recommend a few dishes which she did and explained them so great that my mouth was watering for everything on the menu. Yes the other reviews say that the menu isn't that big, but that is one thing my husband and I liked about it. I think it has plenty of choices. Like 4 or 5 meat, seafood, and pasta dishes. The appetizers were a bit foo foo for our liking, but this is definitely a high quality restaurant and definitely sounded good, but we are a bit nervous to try too many new things. We ordered our drinks which the bartender made perfectly and we had bread and this delicious oil concoction brought with it. It was so good. My husband ordered the lobster risotto with a side of corn bread and I ordered a spiced rubbed Hake with a side of roasted broccoli rabe. Our waitress Kody had recommended the Hake. Luckily I have a really awesome husband that shared some bites of his meal with me. My mouth is still watering just writing this. The ONLY thing I would say that I struggled with was the length of time that it took to get our meals after ordering BUT it didn't wouldn't stop us from going back again. The meals were out of this world!!! So flavorful!! So delicious!! So filling!! I was sad when our meal was done. Overall we had a wonderful meal, wonderful drinks, but probably even better service. I am looking forward to going back there. It is a bit on the pricey side, but if you are looking for a nice date night out or even for the people that can afford it I would go here over anywhere around there. Absolutely horrible service and food was gross. Ordered a steak medium rare, it came out cold. I sent it back. They cooked the same piece of steak over again and it was terrible. The atmosphere is nice but the service was sluggish at best. For a Saturday night they were very slow and the bar was empty by 7:30. The head bartender mixed our drink, determined it was in too large of a glass and poured 3/4 into a smaller glass then chugged the remainder. He was later seen banging a wine bottle on a table as he mis judged the distance, almost dropped it again when he spun it to show the label. I was SHOCKED at the mark up of the wine. Everything was triple what I would pay retail. I expect some markup but no more than double. The Opus One I can buy for $120 and they had it at $350. Ridiculous! My duck was improperly cooked as the skin was soft and greasy vs crisp as it should be. Chef board was delicious but over priced at $26. Overall.....POOR VALUE POOR SERVICE POOR QUALITY waste of my time and money read more

The ambiance of the restaurant sitting outside and the beautiful view of the quarry just adds to the dinning experience. Is it possible to be very pleased and quite disappointed at the same time? Let's start from the beginning...a long overdue date night with my girlfriend. Parking was a complete pain...it took 15 minutes to get a spot and there was no valet to assist. Once we did park and get inside our table (we had a reservation) was being set promptly at 7:28 for our seating at 7:30. Considering that I expected a pretentious establishment, the atmosphere was very relaxed. There were folks casually eating and enjoying drinks in the Lounge, a large group in one corner celebrating a birthday and casually dressed couples scattered about. Joseph was our server and he was fantastic. He hit the highlights of the menu and explained the specials with delicious detail. Joseph also knew the wine list and made several excellent recommendations to pair with our entrees. Now, onto the food and drink. We were offered the choice of bottled flat or sparkling water. We chose flat, but as it turns out, they had just run out of bottled. No big deal...I drink tap daily. For apps, we ordered scallops and a dozen oysters (I had a severe hankering for oysters). Joseph put the order in, but came back to inform us that they were out of oysters. We substituted with mussels, which were average. The scallops, however, were exceptional...possibly the best texture I have found in a scallop. Between apps and entrees, we asked Joseph for the wine list and he made recommendations. We chose, and yet again, they were fresh out (third time). Alas, we chose again and this bottle was available. As it turns out, the second choice was wonderful and paired well with our filets. The filets were prepared as requested and the flavor was fantastic, but they were not warm enough and served over a bed of mashed potatoes and green beans that were also cool. It would have helped to have the plated warmed up. Either that or the meals sat on the counter too long. The highlight of the night was the chocolate bread pudding over salted caramel and the creme brûlée...nothing short of amazing! Had the oysters been available, I might have giver 5 stars. Overall, our dining experience was great and we will most likely return, but only for special occasions....The Quarry is a bit pricy! read more
