Great upscale restaurant! It is not easy to find - on Washington Street right before entering Weymouth from Hingham (before Previte). We like the interior and atmosphere. The food: wWe had the stuffed fried pumpkin blossoms as an appetizer, then the lamb ragout lasagne and the seafood pasta. Everything was great, pasta was homemade. I had a great craft lager, 12 bucks though. So check prices before you order. We'll be back for another dinner and try Sunday brunch (until late, 4pm) as well. Hope this place survives being somewhat off the common areas. Put this in the Shipyard and it will give Alma Nove a big headache! read more

Had the prix fixe menu for Valentines day. The only thing stopping this review from being a 5 star was the price. $65 per head for 4 courses, +$20 per person for wine pairings. Wines were 3 oz each, plates were medium in size. 4 plates left us still a little peckish. I know Valentine's day is always a fixed menu, but having a few limited options for those who have big appetites and would like to choose off the prix fixe menu might not be a bad idea. Came in at 6:30, about half the tables were empty, left at 8ish and the dining room was packed to the gills. Noise level was never noticeable despite a lot of people filtering in. Waiter and owner (I think) were attentive without being overbearing. Food was delicious, but I could definitely eat a tiny bit more of it. read more

Had a wonderful birthday dinner for my husband on Saturday night. The restaurant is always beautifully decorated, especially at Christmas. We had a fabulous waitress, great service and excellent food and drinks. Even the bread with garlic olive oil was to die for. The swordfish taco app was delish. My husband had the Branzino fish, which was superb. The sides with it were not the best, as the broccoli rabe was very bitter. But the fish made up for it. I ordered the pork loin which was so tasty. The sides were amazing - roasted brussels sprouts with a cheesy potato style polenta. We were so glad we came back and will certainly visit again. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Disclaimer: this isn't the Applebee's, so anyone wearing their hoodies and sweats can make a res elsewhere. I can here for Valentine's Day, hoping for a high class experience and was not disappointed. They had a specific Valentine's Day 4 course menu, with about 3-4 options for each course, complete with optional wine pairing. The cocktail menu was 2 pages long with house made cocktails along with classic, commonly ordered ones. We tried to get alternating courses, so we were able to tried 8 different dishes. I liked everything with the exception of the chicken, but it was by no means terrible. My only small complaint was the tables were slightly too close together. I felt like was unintentionally eavesdropping on the neighboring tables' conversations. Also, due to the close tables, a waiter awkwardly stomped all over my gf's leftovers multiple times. The Quarry has been on our list to try since the restaurant changed hands in the last year or so. My in-laws visited over the summer while dog-sitting for us and were really pleased so while in town for the holiday, they suggested we return. We made reservations on the early side; being pregnant makes waiting to eat a trial for me and The Quarry was happy to take our early reservation although we realized it was unnecessary when we arrived to a quiet restaurant. Immediately I was impressed by the building; the sunken bar area was cozy and inviting. I could definitely see us hanging out there for a few drinks with friends. The main dining room was impressive as well with the tall ceilings, exposed ducts and those massive wrought iron chandeliers with Edison lightbulbs. Oh and I didn't even mention the beautiful large windows looking out over the new patio with views to the quarry behind. It was such an inviting and comfortable atmosphere. My mother-in-law indicated it was loud in there the first time they visited but I had no complaints about the volume whatsoever. Though they don't have draft beer lines, my husband was pleased with the craft beer bottle/can selection. The others ordered wine and cocktails and our server kept my water glass full. Again, being pregnant, I found myself scrutinizing the menu. I always trust and accept the chefs preferred doneness of meats but unfortunately have found myself erring towards caution when eating meat and seafood. I opted for a vegetarian option in the end to be safe and was very pleased with my choice - the mushroom risotto with truffle oil. I don't typically love risotto but this was well prepared, the rice al dente not mush and the portion large enough to split for lunch the next day. I also ordered the Bibb lettuce salad with fried ricotta. This was an enjoyable starter and though quite simple in presentation, packed quite a hit of flavor. My husband ordered the whole fish (branzino that day) and enjoyed it tremendously. My father in law ordered the wild boar pasta dish which he loved. Overall, it was a solid dining experience. My husband and I have already talked about going back and we can't wait to check out the patio come warmer weather. read more

This place is wonderful! From the beautiful setting and dining room to the amazing food. My boyfriend and I had dinner on a Thursday night, the server was extremely attentive yet not invasive. He gave us suggestions, attended to everything we needed and also gave us space to enjoy everything. The food waa equally great, we started with the mussels which were cooked perfectly along with my boyfriend's burger and my pork. It was the comfort food we were looking for. I am never disappointed when I come here. The service is exceptional, the food is unique and amazing. Last night: Started with caesar salad and mussels - yum. The garlic olive oil with bread is delicious as well. I got the honey chicken with potato puree and jus.. my friend got the scallops with pear & mascarpone pasta purses and butternut squash cubed. Whoa flavor town. Both were sooo good. Finished off with 2 desserts (chubby night) Hofstra ice cream and homemade bread pudding. And I got a glass of wine that was delish. All of this for $106! We'd only been to the previous restaurant here once, but I was impressed with what the new owners (Ron & Julie Leduc, and Greg Jordan) have done with the space. It's much lighter and more welcoming, with a lot of elegant touches. We dined with friends, and had caprese salad, sausage, and the chef's board, a mix of cheeses, nuts and antipasto. My wife ordered the pumpkin ravioli and I had the filet mignon. The entrees were amazing, and the dessert was too. We split the flourless chocolate cake. Brunch at the Quarry is simply excellent. If dinners there are held to the same standard as the brunch, then I'm sure they are fantastic. I will definitely be going back to try some of their other offerings or to sit out on the patio in the warmer weather. I would highly recommend the Quarry's brunch to anyone in the immediate area for sure, but it's worth the drive even for those living farther away. Just had an early dinner on a Thursday at 4:30. When I arrived earlier than my party, I said to the manager I would wait in the bar area and he said I'd have to wait outside. No one was in the restaurant at all, so I thought it was odd to have to wait outside even though I was wearing a mask. (They allow indoor seating at the bar and restaurant. The service was good. The waiter very accommodating and friendly. After dessert, my friend had not finished her wine and the manager came over and told us our time was up because the next party was due in 10 minutes. My friend has eaten here three times within 2 and 1/2 weeks . We have never been asked to leave like this . This manager ruined an otherwise lovely evening celebrating my birthday! read more

Came here to celebrate a birthday on Friday night. I have to say the Quarry is deserving of a higher rating that the 3 1/2 stars it gets as of this writing. There were quite a few negative ratings on Yelp so the Quarry must have had a difficult time when it first opened. The service was excellent, the food was excellent, and the overall atmosphere was very nice. The one thing I will comment on is that we had the place to ourselves, so we can't really comment on how the staff and restaurant function under stress. Also, the music is very nice but the place was very quite and since we were celebrating a birthday we were a bit on the noisier side. We were not being obnoxious there were times that we felt like we were affecting the experience of those around us. This would not have happened if the restaurant were at capacity and the hustle and bustle had drowned out the celebration. Will definitely come back, you shouldn't be afraid to give it a shot. read more

This place was awful on the first and last visit. The service at the bar was poor and the bartender had no clue as to what he was doing or talking about in reference to the wine. Plus the wine list has nothing familiar which only means they jack up the prices on it. We ordered a salad that the bartender described to us and it came out nothing like he described. It was late so we went with it. Our dinners was barely eatable. My wife's fish she ordered was so dry that she didn't even bother eating it. I chose this place because it appeared to take cocktails as seriously as food. I really relish the opportunity to experience the vision of a chef/mixologist, which is why I'm not a big fan of the "pick a starch and a veggie" options that just about every restaurant on the south shore offers - I want a fully composed dish, as it was designed by the chef. Anyhow, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have the bartender make a cocktail based on my whim. I simply asked for something with bourbon, and not too sweet. He came back at me with a Boulevardier (rye, campari, and house-made vermouth) - here's the kicker - I really wanted rye, but know that most bars have a meager offering. To say he knocked it out of the park is an understatement. The meal started with focaccia and garlic/herb olive oil, which is prepared tableside. I opted to start with the seared scallops, which we accompanied by a butternut squash puree, fried sage, and pine nut brittle. The scallops were perfectly seared, the squash/sage/scallop combo was divine, but the brittle almost took a tooth with it. My wife started with a caesar salad, which was good, but very heavy-handed with pepper, and big enough for two to split. My entree consisted of duck breast with fig risotto, and sautéed spinach with enoki mushrooms - perfectly seasoned, the skin could have been a little crispier, but the risotto was cooked perfectly. My wife had steak frites - which was a little on the tough side, and the pieces that escaped a bath in the bleu cheese butter were under-seasoned. Luckily, the fries must have been tossed in crack - I'll be ordering a basket of those in the future. When I expressed pleasure in my Boulevardier, it was recommended that I try their barrel-aged Negroni for my next drink (for those not in the know, it's essentially the same cocktail, with gin instead of rye) - an excellent drink, but I preferred the whiskey version. We capped off the night with tea-infused creme brulee, and my wife got the flourless chocolate cake. Both were a great way to cap off the meal. Service was on point without being cloying, the atmosphere was great, and the prices weren't exorbitant - best of all, I didn't have to drive into the city for a real cocktail. I just wish my wife had the near-perfect experience that I had - she was a bit "meh" about it. I'd like a chance to hang out in the lounge and experience some more of the great cocktails and food (they have a separate lounge menu), in the future. It's a pity that my wife isn't a drinker! read more

They really deserve 3.5 stars. It was here or the Scarlet Oak. I picked here because they had these brussel sprouts appetizers that I really wanted. They did not have them...UGH! I came here with my family on the way back from Mirabeau Spa for my birthday dinner. Perks of dining in the burbs is plenty of parking. We requested to sit by the window so we turned a banquette booth in a 5 person table. There was still plenty of room. I had the white sangria. It was good and a little sweet. We had the creamy polenta with wild mushrooms, fresh burrata and salads. They were all good. For dinner, I had the swordfish modified due to a shellfish allergy. I had it with mashed potatoes and broccoli rabi. The broccoli was so salty that I could only have a few bites. I was also served last and had to ask if my food was coming. Full disclosure - Greg and Shannon Jordan have become our next door neighbors since my last review posted five years ago. That does make going to The Quarry for dinner a somewhat biased choice. Nevertheless, when we reserved a table for the night of 11/21/19, I simply said "a nice table since it's our anniversary (48 years)". We were seated at a spacious booth near the window overlooking the quarry, where an anniversary card and a single red rose welcomed us. We were informed that the house wished to buy us an appetizer "so choose something nice." We shared a 4-piece jumbo shrimp cocktail, each shrimp the size of a small lobster tail, firm and flavorful. My husband ordered the broiled swordfish over a bed of corn, lobster and bacon. I had the duck breast and nearly licked the plate clean. Both were prepared and served perfectly. For dessert we shared the cider donut sundae and coffee. The meal was fabulous, the service impeccable and attentive, the ambience exquisite. Of course we'll be back. read more

The only reason I am rating as a "one star," is because that's what I have to do to write a review. My husband and I made a reservation for a late dinner at 8pm. We arrived 5 minutes early and checked in. We were told a table would be ready in "a few minutes." Fine with a small wait, we waited.... Over 25 minutes went by without being acknowledged by any staff member. When I went up to the host stand after 30 minutes, I was told that "I could be seated now if I wanted," because another couple had just walked out, after waiting longer than us (because they were there before us). Before I could finish my response back, she walked away to go check out where we would perhaps be sitting. At that time, I didn't have any time or patience to wait, and we left. The dining space was very small, putting people literally RIGHT next to each other, almost as if you were the same party. It was loud, people were bumping into each other and it just looked stressful. I can't imagine how long the wait would have been to be waited on and to have gotten dinner. Needless to say, I'm glad we left and went somewhere else. It's a shame, because other reviews are positive and the menu looked great. If you cannot accommodate a reservation, don't offer them as a convenience. read more

Went there today....we were part of a group. They had made mistakes with the seating and room setup...not a big deal. I did however find the staff overall rude and dismissive.....went to get a drink at the bar and the male bartender clearly saw me but preferred to watch the game as opposed to acknowledge us.....If you read the reviews this is a very very common theme. It is everything when picking a place to eat. Just ok food with great staff will still be a good experience....but poor attitudes and service and it's all over. Wife had the fruti di mare and it was average....I had the wild boar pappadelle and it lacked flavor.....needs fresh grated Parmesan or something...very unforgettable: The bar area however was great so maybe just drinks. read more

In town for the holiday weekend and made reservations here for dinner. The food was amazing, as was the service. We tried a handful of small plates - oysters, mussels, hummus, veggies, burrata, lobster sliders - and everything was perfect. They even have a kids menu, which was great for my 4yr old son. Had a reservation for 7 for a birthday party here. Called in advance to see if they had a birthday cake or cake for desert and they said no. Asked if I could bring a cake and they said "sure no problem". As we took the cake out a waiter runs over and says "that will cost you $2.00 a person to eat that here". If they'd told me that when I called we would have had the cake at home. $300.00 bill and they add $14 for our cake. Never go here again. read more

Had a wonderful dinner at the Quarry Restaurant tonight. We were seated promptly at a spacious booth, myself, my fiancée and my daughter. We started with the house marinated olives and the handmade fresh burrata which were to die for. Followed by the wild mushroom ravioli, pasture raised filet mignon, and the seared Maine dayboat scallops, We each loved our entrees, all were exceptional. This restaurant is an absolute gem. My advice is try it now when it is easy to get into since I suspect this will be a place where reservations will be needed to get a table in the future. Here is my take: Parking: Easy access off of Rte. 53 with ample parking around the building. A+ Service: Service is prompt but not overbearing. The servers strike just the right touch of paying attention while letting you enjoy your meal in peace. A+ Atmosphere: Beautifully restored old stone building with large glass windows overlooking the quarry letting in natural light. The bar is a cool looking sunken area on your left as you enter the restaurant. A+ Drinks: Normally I order a martini but last night I ordered a Manhattan. It was perfect. They pour a very generous drink here. A glass of red wine which our server suggested was terrific. A++ Food: I ordered the house made sausage which was bratwurst. It was a generous portion served on a narrow plate with a mount of greens and pickled red onion. Other than the fact that I would have felt foolish I could have eaten 3 more helpings. The taste was incredible; the presentation matching the quality of the taste. The Day Boat Scallop dish is killer. You could see the attention to detail.The asparagus in the dish were peeled to leave only the more tender part of the stalks; clearly someone in the kitchen cares about quality. I managed to snag a couple of my wife's mushroom ravioli. Again clearly made on the premise. Another awesome dish. Go easy on the bread (again presentation and attention to detail were evident) since portions are not over the top but certainly generous. For desert we split a dish mint ice cream. Unless you have a prodigious appetite splitting is a good option. A+++ While prices are not inexpensive they are more than fair given the quality of the food and the overall experience. Over rating...Somewhere between A+ and A+++. PS: One minor suggestion is that they do something about the music in the background. Superb spot--the ambience is a wonderful blend of contemporary chic, rustic charm with the right touch of elegance. The wine list is superb--even wines by the glass are excellent (and I am a wine snob). The food is 5-star quality and presented beautifully. This is usually a great restaurant! My husband and I enjoy The Quarry very much. YET tonight was a different story and the two of us were extremely disappointed. The atmosphere is excellent, great ambiance. The bartender was very friendly and extremely knowledgable. We sat at the bar and had a drink, checked out the menu before we went to our table. Once we sat in the dining area it took forever for a waiter or waitress to acknowledge us. (I guess that was the first sign.) When a waitress finally appeared, she was apologetic saying she was at the bar waiting for her order not realizing she had a table. So, we ordered our drinks, appetizer and meal. Our appetizer was the hummus plate which was delicious last time but extremely Un Flavorful tonight. My husband ordered the filet which came out on a cold bed of potato purée. I had the hanger steak which came out on a bed of soggy old fries. Matter of fact, it looked like it was thrown on top of the fries and then brought out. Our waitress never came over to ask us how everything was until we were almost finished. So, we informed her about our experience so far. Hey, if the place wasn't so pricey we wouldn't have said anything. But for the $$$ , you expect your food to be spot on and your service to be outstanding. The waitress came back, let us know she spoke with the CHEF OWNER (her exact words) and he would like to buy us dessert!! Are you serious?? First off, most people are to stuffed to eat dessert, second, not everyone eats dessert! Don't get me wrong, we weren't looking for anything but really? Dessert? Great find in a gorgeous space in Hingham! Went with group of six and tried many of the dishes, all were cooked perfectly. The fig appetizer, hake, and mushroom ravioli were special highlights. We were there on 12/7/2019 and the service was terrible. The waitress forgot our drinks. Mixed up drinks and then it got worse. The appetizers took forever to come out, one was the hummus plate with vegetables so how hard is that? The other was their seafood plateau which was a complete rip off. $ I ordered the rib eye special which was $49 for just the plate no sides and it was the worse cooked steak I have ever had. I had to send it back. The burgers were raw and went back as well. The seafood dish smelled. Burtons around the corner blows this place away and for less. Then the waitress forgot our desserts!!!! At that point is was three strikes and we will never come back. read more
