AHI TUNA BOWL - $28 This was one of the most disappointing dishes I've had in a long time. The "togarashi-crusted" tuna was not crusted at all--completely bland, with no seasoning or flavor. It tasted like it had been frozen, thawed, and simply dropped into the bowl. The rest of the ingredients were just as underwhelming. Everything was placed in separate, unappealing mounds around the bowl: a pile of tasteless sushi rice with a few sesame seeds, hard and underripe avocados chunks, unseasoned raw shredded carrots, smashed vinegar cucumbers with no trace of cilantro and beside that were the overpowering pickled red onions. To make matters worse, it all sat awkwardly on top of a mayonnaise ginger-soy aioli that did nothing to bring the dish together. There was no balance, no cohesion, and absolutely no flavor. It looked unappetizing and tasted even worse. I barely touched it. The server never asked why, and even if she had, I was with coworkers and wouldn't have felt comfortable saying how bad it was. For $28, this was unacceptable. Honestly, it felt like something a child threw together--bland, poorly executed, and completely lacking care. Would not order again. read more

I will be back JUST for those and the food is a HIT. Very flavorful and I love the menu options and their choice of pairs. Pricing is very reasonable and fitting for the dishes provided. We booked the reservations literally 20 mins before they opened and they had plenty of availability for it being a holiday. We went around 12pm and there was no wait time. My first time and Burtons and I'm already planning my next trip back! Our waiter AJ was one of the most attentive waiters I've had in a long time. He was attentive, friendly, quick, and efficient. He deserves a raise! I got the steak frites with truffle fries and the portions were big and the food was tasty. The Buffalo chicken dip has a nice flavor and came out hot. Went to Burtons Grill for dinner last night 5/1/2025 Haven't been in a long time so we figured to try again. We had reservations and were quickly seated. The menu was limited and not very exciting and seemed a bit dated. The server was very pleasant and attentive took our order of cheese steak spring rolls and they came out almost too fast so they were either sitting or reheated they were ok just average nothing special. Our entrees came out 15 minutes later I got the Salmon and while it was good it again was nothing special. My wife got the shrimp and lobster pasta it just wasn't that good and was supposed to be in a tomato cream sauce but seemed more like a tomato sauce. I often order the fish sandwich but this time the bun was thin and crumbly - like a cheap hamburger bun. It made the sandwich hard to eat and not as tasty. My husband got the chicken piccata and two of the three pieces were tough. Last time he got the chicken with risotto and the chicken was tough then too. Two recent experiences: One was a birthday, one person needed their food cooked plainly due to allergy. It was very tough to get this through to the waitress about the exact specifics. Waitress came back to check on drinks during the wait for food and the person with allergies checked again they understood what they meant. The waitress had it in completely wrong, and thankfully, the patron checked on it. Everyone had raved about this as the best restaurant locally that really was on the mark with allergies. This was that person's first time out since they had had an anaphylactic reaction and they were so nervous and this just made them extremely unsettled to know that they didn't get it right at first. Second one was during the renovation. One of our party had the most disgusting Caesar salad with tips. Gooey dressing, extremely over dressed salad . Asked for medium steak tips and the 4 super tiny pieces of steak were grey. By the time the waitress came back to check, everyone else was done. That person got extremely sick about an hour later from the less than half of the salad they had picked at. We used to love Burtons and patronize it frequently, but after these past two experiences, it's a pass. read more

Highly recommend scoping out the bar area for a high top if you have not made a reservation, bar area is first come first serve and we've been lucky that way. The restaurant is large and dimly lit but not too much that you can't see the menu in front of you. Servers are pleasant and efficient. Food is very good, and i enjoyed a "mocktail" this time while the rest of my family did have actual drinks and we all enjoyed our time. Celebrities do frequent this spot! Oh Burtons...what the heck happened? Hard to say I will be back after last night's experience. Wanted some good food so hit Burtons after a long day. And the food? Was good. The atmosphere? Cozy! The service though - left a LOT to be desired. It started with the hostess. We walked in and at the same time two other couples came in right behind us. The hostess asks how she can help us (without looking up from her iPad) and we tell her two for dinner. She immediately looks panicked/annoyed and barks at one of the other four front of house folks to help us and then yells out into the ether, "CAN I HELP WHOEVER IS NEXT?!" Another girl takes our name and tells us it's going to be about thirty minutes. We walk next door to the book store to kill some time, and before we know it almost an hour has passed. We get a text that our table is almost ready, and less than two minutes later (as we are walking in the door to the restaurant) we get a text asking if we were still "interred" in the table. Yes, we were still interested. We are sat and order. The apps were good - got buffalo chicken and paid extra for the bread service. The cocktails were not good - got the "Summertime Spritz" which is supposed to have elderflower but tasted like flat Prosecco and a splash of white cranberry. The service was inattentive and rushed. Our server was frequently off talking to one of her other tables, who she clearly knew personally. At one point, one of our servers friends got up and was standing behind our table chatting with her. They were cursing about something the kitchen did, and she said "I'll text them, that isn't fucking right." Another server came and dropped our food. She asked if I'd like anything else, to which I said "I'd like to order another cocktail please." She told me she would send our server over. When our server finally came over to frantically refresh our waters, I went to order a different cocktail (first one sucked). She seemed irritated and said it takes time for the bar staff to make the cocktail, and that the other server placed an order for the same one I had had before. Obviously, I know this. But you didn't take my order. When pouring the water, she refilled my husbands empty soda glass even though he had a full glass of water in front of him. Not once were we checked in with during the meal. The service was sloppy and inattentive, which is not what I'm looking for at a place where you're paying $50 for a steak. South shore is up and coming for some restaurants, I'll probably go elsewhere next time. read more

The food is excellent here. This is a solid choice for a steakhouse on the South Shore. I had the 28-day aged ribeye and it was delicious. I topped it with lobster. I met four friends here for my last supper before my bariatric surgery. We had plenty of drinks and shared a dessert too. I think it only cost $100 per person which isn't bad. Our waiter was good, but I think he had a lot on his plate. Service was a little in slow side. But I've been here before and this is apparently normal. The restaurant does get very busy on the weekends. You may want to consider a reservation. read more

The Desert Flower is such a good drink! Tequila and mezcal but I didn't even taste the mezcal (I'm usually not a huge fan). The Buffalo Chicken Dip is really good, if not as cheesy as the one I had in Lynnfield years ago. The Spinach Artichoke Dip was also good but not as good as the buff chick. The Ribeye was very good, and the Maxx Burger was good as well. Definitely get the Parmesan Truffle Fries instead of the regular if you can. The GF Mac & Cheese side is way better than I would have expected for either gluten-free pasta or restaurant mac and cheese. Service was great. Love Burton's because they cater to gluten-free eaters, asking everyone if they need a GF menu and having a mostly gluten free menu even when you don't specifically order gluten-free. read more

I used to love this place years ago. But my visit the other day was awful. To start, they have three hostesses when you walk in (kind of overkill) but they seem under staffed in the wait staff department. The place is dirty. We say at a table next to the ledge and you can see it covered in dust except for a few inches where they had dusted. We were seated and ignored for at least 15 minutes. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. They dropped off the food and no one stopped back to see if we needed anything. In fact, there wasn't a single waiter on the floor to even flag down. It's like they were hiding in the kitchen. And there is no place to wait for a table so diners had to sit near the windows while people waiting for tables stood over them talking. This time we switch it up my wife got the burger and truffle fries and I got the grilled chicken with ham avocado with a cream sauce . Had to give four this time , one of my pet peeves is cleanliness and service now the service was excellent and the food BUT I had to wash my hands and when I went into the men's room I thought I was going to vomit it reeked of ursine and a fouls smell . They still take good care of me as a celiac, but it's not near as polished a place as it used to be. The menu doesn't change, if there were specials, our server didn't let us know. And it's LOUD. I realize that means it was full, but it is also one of only two restaurants in the shopping plaza other than sandwich/burger joints, so not much choice! I guess it's just become a bit predictable. The drinks were mixed well - not a heavy pour, but enough to make sure they were not giving you more ice like other places. Started with the bread - warm, fresh and everyone liked it. Calamari, plenty to go around - warm and devoured quickly. The main courses - Classic burger, short rib grilled cheese, salmon romesco, and superfood with chicken - you will not go wrong with any of these choices, nor will you go hungry. Absolutely fantastic all around. Highly recommend the short rib grilled cheese and fries - not life changing, but close. Wrapped up with some dessert to go - see will not go hungry - and was a nice treat later that night. Love this restaurant. They have the best Greek salad on earth, and I've been to Greece. But if you want bread there is a charge, which in my opinion is a bad move by ownership. I'll buy the bread, but then not have a second glass of wine or dessert. So the restaurant pays for the bread regardless, not to mention the missing Yelp star. read more
