The arcade games were ok. A few were partially broken. Some were very loud and it was a bit hard to talk to people over the sound of the games. They have an ATM and change maker in case you didn't bring quarters, but the change maker only took $1 bills when we went (you had to talk to the servers for smaller bills). The Harry Potter theme was fun - the toilets are like the toilets that get you to the ministry of magic, and they had the first HP movie running on one of the TVs. Food was mediocre. The curly fries with garlic and Parmesan (an appetizer) was awesome, but the Holy Shitake pizza was way too greasy and some of the sweeter flavors (the sweet balsamic dressing on the arugula on top and the caramelized onion) didn't seem to go well with the other savory flavors (the mushrooms and cheese). read more

Great beer. Great games. Great pizza! A must stop. We had the shrimp Alfredo pizza, blueberry BBQ pizza, and shiitake mushroom pizza and they were all great. 3 pizzas were good for our 4 member family. They had a couple of games set for free play which was awesome. read more

Just wasn't feeling it. The beer selection was kinda poor but still pricy and the games were very overly outdated with many having various faults which made things worse. Most pinball machine flippers were highly unresponsive, the guns in the shooting games didn't aim correctly, the buttons on many of the games were gummy or not working, the space was poorly set up and there were no cup holders on the games making things more uneasy and hard to work with. I want to see the place work, I really do, but the way it is now I don't think it will. I want to be wrong, but I was really disappointed in the place. read more

A bit disappointed by this place. The environment was a bunch of little kids with their parents. I know arcades rarely exist these days, but a barcade shouldnt have little kids. The pizza was very tasty so props on that. The beer really is average at best. The games really bummed me out though. I was hoping for mario, mortal kombat 1 and street fighter 2. While this arcade/bar had good service and great chicken sliders with many house crafted brews on tap, it lacks a variety of menu items. During my visit, there were also a lot of arcade games out of order, and many needed serviced as some of the buttons didn't respond when pressed and pinball machines weren't level. read more

Visited the QB for a special event in late July. They really went all out! The food was incredible, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the beers! QB has a great selection of in-house and other craft brews rivaling the selection and quality you'd find in any major city. My only regret was that I didn't have a chance to try the wide selection of pinball and vintage arcade games. They look fun and unique - and they broke up a large space into many smaller areas that were perfect for our gathering. I'm looking forward to a return trip next time I'm in Iowa. read more

Gave Quarter Barrel another try and it was fabulous! Last time only complaint was the music was too loud for conversation. Tonight we had no problems talking or hearing our server. My friend had Pineapple upside down cake drink and we all sampled it. It was really good and she said it was the best drink she has ever had. She is picky and likes fruity drinks. Had a bottle of wine for Happy hour and a great deal.. We ordered 3 pizzas and all were really good. Great service and fun atmosphere. read more

Let me start by saying I have lived in Cedar Rapids my entire life. I tend to be one who asks "What is there to do here?" Cedar Rapids is changing, and thankfully businesses like Quarter Barrel are keeping it alive and more entertaining. Not sure why anyone would have anything bad to say about this place. Love pinball? The Quarter Barrel has an arcade with a good selection of classic games. The pizza is excellent and highly recommended. They also have a nice variety of pinball machines. It's a great place to visit if you're looking for a few hours of fun. read more

Stopped at 4:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday and the place was fairly busy. They had two parties booked and we were seated at the bar, which we didn't mind at all. Decided against pizza because the couple next to us had one that looked like a greasy floppy mess, but they said it tasted ok. Our server must of had a great night last night as she had a nice dark fresh hickey covering the majority of one side of her neck. We opted for the sliders and some appetizers. I had the bruschetta burgers with beer cheese fries and my better half had the pulled pork sliders with the blueberry bbq sauce and onion rings. We would have chosen two other things on the menu, but they were out of the frickels and egg rolls. The meals showed up with the onion rings but they were cold and they had forgotten to put in the fries and they did show up hot after I had finished my sliders. I have to say the highlight of the meal were the potato chips that came with the sliders, which were both bland and flavorless. I normally don't write reviews, but we were in town for the weekend and they had a full size ad in the Cedar Rapids travelers guide. I'd advise to keep flipping through and find someplace else! read more

As many people were, I was super excited to experience this place. What could be better then a bar, vintage arcade, and pizza place all wrapped into one, right!!?? Well, unfortunately my experience was far from stellar. I took my managing staff out for a late dinner meeting to the Quarter Barrel and they weren't very busy, yet I still had to venture to the bar to order our drinks and food because no one came to our table after the initial hello and welcome. The other issue for me is that their food menu does not in an way fit the atmosphere. When I think bar, vintage arcade, and food I am thinking fun apps, juicy burgers, and choices of sizes and toppings for pizza. It is far from that let me tell you. There is a big disconnect with their atmosphere and their food. The most alarming issues for us, however, was the lack of sanitary discipline their bar tender had and this is the reason why I will never set foot in their again, nor recommend this place to anyone until this issue is addressed and eliminated. On one occasion we saw the bar tender sneeze in his hands towards the tap beer turn around and promptly serve 2 beers to customers and never once washed his hands. The other occasion was that one of the people in our group was in the restroom and clearly noticed the bar tender come out of the stall, not once did he wash his hands, and went back to work? That was enough for us to not order anymore, pay our bill, and leave. read more

I absolutely love his place. First, I come for the environment. I always come after 7pm so there are fewer families with kids. Second, the beer selection is awesome. There have been times I have been enjoying the beer so much I forget about the games! The food is also phenomenal. Not greasy boring bar food. A HUGE PLUS. I'd not considered see it "gourmet" as other reviews have stated, but unique and very tasty. The pizza is amazing. I haven't had one thing there I've not enjoyed. The games are very entertaining. I used to go to boardwalk arcades as a kid and many of those games are here. QB also has frequent theme nights and events worth attending. The full bar has most of what someone ordering a drink would like, but if they don't have something, they make note of it and it may just be there the next time you're in! All in all, this place is awesome and I will come back over and over again. read more

Smelled of horrible burnt pizza. When we went to get beers it seemed as if we inconvenienced the bartender by taking time since they have many craft beers on tap. Would have loved to have some recommendations or even interaction, instead felt rushed and ordered a bud light. Games were taken over be young children still at ten to ten on a Saturday night. "Wait to be seated" was up as we entered. Waited for over 5 minutes to be seated. No one ever ever acknowledged us. Even though we saw two bartenders and a server. My friend even approached the bar and received no assistance. This was their second chance as we had poor service before. Not going back. read more

So to start off its a very loud environment with the music and the people. The music seems obnoxiously loud, and you can barely hear the person sitting 2 feet across from you. For second the waitresses seemed very rude, short, and like they didnt want to be there. For example, my friend asked for a water and the lady walked away from him as he asked her. For the third, the food wasnt the best either. Our Pepsi's were watered down. My other friends pizza came back with blue cheese on it, when he clearly stated 'no blue cheese, im allergic.' The food was very bland and had little to no seasoning. They did end up giving us a 7$ discount, but in my opinion it doesn't make up for the bland food, and unreasonable attitude. Not to mention that we never got an, 'I'm sorry'. I only gave then 2 stars because it was a cool place, and very retro/vintage interior design. I would recommend for entertainment, and alcoholic beverages, not for food. read more

First off they had the sign for Tuesday still showing the taco Tuesday special, I went in on a Wednesday.... second, 1 menu per table??? Dumb. Stole menus from other tables. Asked the server about that and she says it's stupid too. So maybe add some more menus to the tables.... i ordered the pork sliders with the chips. Small small portion. Only get 2 tiny sliders and the chips were very salty. Left there hungry. Won't be back. read more

This is a GREAT place! The beer is fabulous - a few house brews, some other local brews and some more commercial beers. They also have wine and mixed drinks. Food is great too - we're working our way down the menu. And no matter what I order, I also get the onion rings - thin, crisp, probably the best I've ever tasted - and the house ranch dip is to die for. And for dessert? Oh my, the beer brownie is beyond good! We love playing the games - especially the pin ball games - and we love watching people play the games, especially when a younger generation is introduced to them. Once we had a problem with sticky flippers on one of the games, told the staff and it was corrected immediately. Staff is highly responsive to all our wants and needs. I've read some of the 1 and 2 star reviews and can't for the life of me figure out what their problems are! They certainly weren't my experience! read more
