Delicious bbq and great service! We lived in Memphis for a few years and it is comparable. The sauce options were wide in variety and delicious. The okra and cauliflower options are all hand breaded too! We sat on the patio on a nice July day and enjoyed the view and breeze.

Last summer my boyfriend, brother and i came here to eat. We were visiting from New Jersey and trust me we would all go back to Port Clinton to eat here. The staff was so nice and they were even having someone train to waitress with our table. We honestly had such an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very friendly and helpful !

Get ready for a rave review!!! My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant as we were driving through Ohio and searching for a local barbecue restaurant. We saw that this one had outdoor seating with a water view and decided to give it a shot. The hostess was kind and friendly. Our server, Amanda, was very sweet as well, but also extremely knowledgeable about the menu and extremely efficient -- we hardly had to wait for anything, it seemed. We got drinks, the Flannel Mouth Cider and the Key Lime Martini. WOW the martini was incredible! One of the most delicious drinks I've had. As an appetizer, we decided to try the Pork Belly Burnt Ends. Also amazing -- I actually closed my eyes during my first bite to make the most of the experience LOL. For our main course selections, the brisket smash burger and build your own tray with pork, fries, and asparagus did not disappoint. I loved their variety of sauces -- the spicy apple, peach, and Carolina mustard were all incredible! And of course the view was spectacular. Truly a wonderful experience from beginning to end!

The food here is great. Generous portions and nice atmosphere. And they've added gelato which we'll have to try when we're not so full.

Very disappointing…read more We have a cottage on the islands and yesterday we had some time available before our ferry so we stopped in to take advantage of their early happy hour (3-6) as we've been there before and enjoyed it. Not this time. It was about two minutes to 3 when we sat at the bar (nobody else at the bar but us) and asked for a menu. The bartender (male) gave us dinner menus so we asked could we please have the lunch menus. He looked at his watch and said "I guess so" and gave them to us. We then asked for the happy hour menu and again, he looked at his watch , decided it was ok, then gave them to us. Not an awesome start but no biggie. We ordered the happy hour calamari, and for lunch I had the perch sandwich with chips and wife got the luncheon steak filet. First the good news. Service was good, food came out quickly and my wife said her steak (while a bit pricey at $35 for a small filet) was excellent as were the green beans that came with it. Now the bad. The calamari was severely over-fried and basically tasteless. My wife asked me "do you taste anything?" and candidly, I didn't. Just the dipping sauce. My perch was equally flavorless, all I tasted was bread. Same goes for the 1/2 baked potato that came with the steak. That looked and tasted exactly like a microwaved potato someone sprinkled a bit of shredded cheese on. Very, very bland. And the homemade chips that came with the perch were the saltiest things ever salted. I couldn't eat them at all, had about three (they looked great) and realized my sodium level would spike off the charts if I ate any more. With two drinks (a happy hour beer & Tito's) the bill with tip was $100 and we couldn't taste the calamari, the perch or the potato and couldn't eat the chips. Insert "not great Bob" animated gif.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I stole a loaf of bread from this store. It's true, folks, no lie…read more I was around 7 or 8 years old when the family went to Cheese Haven to buy some things for the picnic we had planned later that afternoon. I was told to hold onto a loaf of French bread as they looked around. As it were, I quickly got separated from my mother and father and so with bread in hand, I walked out the door looking for them. I found my father outside having a smoke, and when he saw that loaf of bread, well, he wasn't very happy about it, but then again, he didn't make me take it back in either. So, many decades later: * The statute of limitations has passed. * I've made peace with my guilty conscience. * I stopped in again, a few weeks ago What I found was the same fun, kitschy, touristy place that it used to be. It's full of some things you need and some things you'll just want. They've got an impressive deli with all kinds of smoked meats and cheeses. Of course, all that needs to be washed down with some of their eclectic selection of sodas. Looking for something more adult? They have a huge selection of local Ohio beers and wines. If you're into the sweet and salty, there's plenty of candy and snacks. If you like spice, you'll find a surprisingly good selection of hot sauces too. Their prices are tourist haunt reasonable, so the cash register tally shouldn't be much of a surprise. Cheese Haven is a solid locally owned business that promotes Ohio based products with some good local stuff from all over the area. It'll delight and excite the younger ones and give some nostalgic feelings to the older ones. In any case, it's a lot of fun and a delicious stop while you're in the area. For me? Easily, 5 stars.

We have been visiting for 60 years, and find this shop to be delightful; the nearby retail area has greatly developed.
