I If you want some good german food, go elsewhere. I ordered The Blitzkrieg, which had a little bit of everything...schintzel, spaetzel, perogies, german potato salad...all bad. My friend ordered the Reuben with a side of potato pancakes. The Reuben was average at best and the potato pancakes were inedible. On a positive note...we both enjoyed the Hofbrau Hefeweisse Bier. I'd give zero stars if possible. The manager with the white hair and beard was uncaring and the server seemed clueless. We arrived at 7:00 pm there were several seats available and plenty of staff bustling about. We ordered drinks and food at 7:15. We also observed several tables ordering after us. Those tables received their food, ate and were cleared within an hour. 8:10 we are still waiting for food. I asked for the manager. He looked up our food order , still had no estimated time and agreed waiting an hour wasn't acceptable. I said I wanted to pay for our drinks and was leaving. He didn't seem to care, ask us to stay or anything charged us full price for the drinks and that was that. Another customer had also walked in and was constantly vaping and blowing it at my kids. Vaping which is illegal in Ohio bars and restaurants. I had mentioned it to the waitstaff who chose to not do anything. I mentioned it to the customer and he didn't want to stop. I didn't want to get in a fight as he seemed confrontational. So when I was settling my bill, I also mentioned it to the manager. He too seemed to not care. All in all the service was so bad and we never got to try the food. I walked in assuming the Fourth of July would have low staffing or other issues so initially we were super patient, but after seeing that other tables were being attentively served and food was coming out of the kitchen normally, I knew something was wrong and we were having a poor experience. There were no updates from the waitress while we waited either. The only good deed I did was while waiting for my check, another young family came in, thought I was waiting for a table, I told them no, and my story of waiting for food and the vaper. They turned around and immediately left. Hopefully others see this review and patronize other businesses instead. Wolfies should be on the Never go to list. Zero stars. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this german dish. I got the Blitzkrieg, it consisted of warm German potato salad, choice if chicken or veal schnitzel, spaetzle with Hunter sauce, pierogies with grilled onions & bacon, cole slaw, and sour cream. It's hard to find a good german meal in the area and this was surprisingly close to authentic. The potato salad was spot on although my german family does not typically eat it hot, the flavors were correct and super tasty. I will be back!! read more

Went to wolfies, on Saturday only 4 days after being opened. When our party of 4 arrived the bar was crowded but the restaurant only had three tables full. The atmosphere was good the place had a cute German vibe, but the food was good but not great. Being German I was super excited to check this place out. I ordered the fried bologna, it was served on a pretzel roll with sautéed onions and cheddar cheese. No pickles like I am use to and the hand cut fries were limp not crispy, for 15.00 I expected better.My wife and daughter in law had salads are were good size for the price, and had a decent amount of chicken in them. My son order the Jager schnitzel That comes with two sides he chose German potato salad and Spatzel with mushroom gravy. He said sparsely was good but entree was very small and German potato salad tasted like mustard not traditional vinegar bacon and onions. The price was like 24.00 and he added sauerkraut as a side for 4.00 and it was tiny, and straight from a can. Wolfies is slightly newer to Port Clinton, they offer some pretty great German cuisine as well as full liters of beer. I am typically a bar customer, so I don't have much of an opinion about the table service. When there's a band in the street this is a great spot to tuck away for a beer and some onion rings or a bockwurst. Beer is offered on draft, but additionally they can serve it warm or however traditional you want to get. read more

Very disappointed with the "German" food. Ordered the Hunerschnitzel (breaded chicken cutlet), german potato salad, and spaetzel. What I got was a soggy, tastless chicken breast, boiled potatoes, and bits and pieces of undercooked dough. Couldn't finish it. Also, ordered a tall beer and got a short one. Waste of money. My guest and I went there today at 1 p.m. There weren't many customers in the restaurant. Our server was timely, friendly, and attentive. She checked on us at least three times. The decor was appropriate and tasteful. The restaurant was clean. I was very disappointed with food selection. I was told they didn't have the sauerkraut balls, German potato salad, bockwurst, or mashed potatoes. All of these are on the website menu, and the sauerkraut balls and potato salad are on the in-house menu. The bratwurst and potato pancakes were ok,--I've had better, and I've had worse. The sauerkraut was good. The fries were hot and fresh, but too oversalted. I thought the serving sizes were generous. My guest had the big pretzel with cheese and spicy mustard. She said everything tasted good, except the mustard was too spicy for her (personal preference). The ladies' bathroom needs a deep clean, and the music was too loud. Tried this place for the first time today. They have a good selection of beers, with drafts and bottles. The German pretzel was excellent and huge. We tried the pierogis, schnitzel, and burger. We selected the potato pancakes, German potato salad, and sauerkraut as sides. Everything was good. Max was our server and he was excellent. read more

My husband and I decided to try our new German restaurant in Port Clinton. We love Schmidts restaurant in Columbus but was skeptical that they could live up to the expectations. We were mistaken. From start to finish our meal was amazing. Peter our bartender/ waiter was very attentive. Suggesting a German beer that was awesome. There are many to choose from including German wines and martinis. The atmosphere was very authentic and pleasant. We ordered the appetizer onion tower that came with an awesome ring sauce, they were cooked perfectly and definitely delicious. We decided to try the Bahama Mama brat (our fave at Schmidt's) I topped it with kraft and my husband with onion and peppers they came on toasted pretzel hoagie buns. You can choose from many sides and I had the sweet slaw, he had fries. Well folks we found a German restaurant that surpassed our expectations. Food was amazing!!! We couldn't finish but brought them home for a late night snack because we wanted to try the cream puff and a German Chocolate martini for dessert. They were AMAZING!! I included a Pic and not much left of the cream puff. I love chocolate martinis and this one I highly recommend. Over-all our experience was wonderful. I was very excited to try this new German restaurant out. The sausage appetizer was very good, with really tasty mustard to go with it. The saurkraut balls were a little over crispy, but the center was excellent! The waiter said that the new chef had made the balls a little too big, so they got a little overcooked in order to warm up the middle. I was a little disappointed in the German potato salad, but having had my mother's, I had very high expectations. The schnitzel was awesome! Seeing as the place had only been open for 2 weeks, and they were working out the kinks yet, I was pretty impressed. They were very open to suggestions and critiques. read more
