I hate you Rabbit Hole. I hate you so much. At one point in time, you conquered wingfest. You had the best wings in Chicago. A beautiful breaded wing, perfectly cooked. THAT is hard. Any dumb $hit with a deep fryer can heat wings and then throw sauce on them. Oh yeah, you heated your sauce and added butter. Good job. Add butter, makes it better. The same dumb donkey with a deep fryer can do that. I can't believe you used to have the best wings around and you went the dumb donkey route. Same garbage as anyone else has got. I can't believe I made my wife wait for my pickup order to bring home the garbage you now call your wings. She had to wait because my notes said you had the best wings in Chicago and you thought it was a joke - no wonder you thought it was a joke because y'all know your wings are $hit. You should remove any reference to wingfest on your website because not doing so is a violation and illegal. You no longer serve those wings - you can't advertise that you do. Simple, casual neighborhood bar that has really taken off and gained a lot of my business. The bartenders are great, you can always get good service, and they offer a nice happy hour with $3 drafts, $5 wines, etc. They don't gouge you on drink prices like a lot of other options in Old Town. The food is your standard pub fare, but I think they have made some improvements here as well like with their new wing sauces. They struggled to find their identity at the beginning, but it seems to be much busier on weekends now than it used to be. Giant jenga and some other games on tables, beer pong set up, and a nice little front patio with a garage door that opens up on nice days. If you want to just hang out and have fun at a casual bar in Old Town, this is your spot. read more

I love this place. they have giant (medium?) jenga and connect four games, so it's a super fun spot. They also play sports on their tvs so good spot to grab games. I've been here for two world cup games so far. Their food is good - I've had their cheese curds, fried chicken and waffles, and tots. All of them were really good, specially the sauce that comes with the curds. They have $2 mimosas for brunch, which is great until they run out of champagne. Good bar spot overall. read more

This is a solid, recommendable bar and grill. It's the sort of place where you'll be happy to meet friends for a few drinks and some bar bites. It has an unpretentious vibe where you'll feel comfortable watching a game on the TVs or partying with friends. It has a good happy hour. I think a bit too much is made of it's "Alice in Wonderland" theme. This seems like a standard (but good) Old Town bar with brick walls, a comfortable bar, and TVs on ESPN. It took me some time to realize there was some artwork on the walls of the White Rabbit, but it's not exactly like I'd consider this a quirky, themed spot. So much fun! Came here after playing on the tire swing at Happy Camper one Saturday. The laid back atmosphere of this place and it's games provided the perfect transition. I played numerous games connect four. Also, the amount of TVs is a major plus. My favorite part...the mystery beer and mystery shot combo adds an extra thrill to the day and provides a way to challenge your friends. In keeping with the theme, the shots come in vials with cork stoppers. The beer, however, comes in a paper bag. Be warned, the shots vary in taste (did I taste Malort once?), but that's all part of the fun. My only complaint...more rabbits! read more

Came here for the happy hour deals that are awesome! (especially some of the food) Had a few draft beers that were poured perfectly and cheese curds. The cheese curds were soooo good and I would eat like 4 more servings now if I could. The service was great considering it was pretty busy. This is not the particular hole Alice fell through. Just wanted to clear that up before we move forward with this review. So, another yelper said this would make it onto the list of the worst bars in the city. Although perceptions are subjective, to classify this as the worst is downright false. If a bar can have a group of people drunk, dancing, singing at the top of their lungs, etc, they have done their job. This was the case for us at The Rabbit Hole. I must admit that I was a bit thrown by the name of the bar. When observing what was offered. Im a bit confused as to what part about the business was supposed to be whimsical, magical, etc. The decor is very one dimensional - aside from the literal rabbit statue near the entrance. There is no color. There is no wow factor. I think The Rabbit Hole could go for a major elevation in terms of decor. There was no magical factor about the bar food either. All basic items. No unique flavors. No original creations. I am not an alcohol connoisseur so I cant really judge the cocktails and whatnot, but the What Dreams May Come was quite tasty. Their house red wine was also decent. What truly made this night memorable was the live karaoke band. Noah and his pals are true crowd pleasers. As a singer myself, I always judge a band based on their ability to connect with a crowd and draw them in. Noah and his guys excell at this. Not only are they quite funny they are also extremely talented musicians. I was very impressed with how accommodating they were to everyone's song choices and how they made sure everyone was having a great time. Also, shout to out to the best waitress in The Rabbit Hole, Jenn (double N)! She made sure our drinks kept coming, and was sure to also keep my water cup refilled while my crew was dancing our buttons off. Thank you, Jenn! So the food and drinks are great. However they had a sign by the door that was clearly written by an employee (multi-colored marker was used) advertising $0.50 shots for every home run the cubs scored. This is a complete lie. The manager totally denied the special and was not nice about it. I will be back however I will not believe any bullshit advertising ever presented at this bar. read more

I'll say the pros up front to be fair: the wait staff is friendly, accommodating, and attentive. The space is cute, Alice in Wonderland theme but not all overwhelming the way a lot of places with this theme are. It's a big space and was probably half full so didn't feel weird empty but wasn't annoying crowded. The menu has vegetarian versions of all the main dishes as far as I could tell. The food was good and reasonably priced. Solid beer list too. Ok into the bad. First thing - we sat down just after 6p.m. and at like 6:30 they started BLASTING "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." It was a Friday right after work and everyone there was eating dinner, and it was so loud we had to shout to hear each other. Bizarre, but just a mistake and not a big deal - we asked and they turned down the volume. But then I ordered the side salad, which didn't have any description on the menu. It had bacon in it. Maybe it I should have asked, but I've never had a nondescript side salad come with more than lettuce tomatoes dressing and maybe cheese. Given the vegetarian friendly menu, I didn't even think to ask if there was meat in the side salad. Just a really weird menu choice. I brought it up to the waitress and she gave me 20% off later on when she brought the bill. It was a really big salad for $5 and I scooped the bacon out, no harm no foul. But the real problem was that there was a persistent, significant fruit fly infestation at our table. It was SO gross. I really wish I hadn't already commented about the other issues to the waitress because the fruit flies got progressively worse while we were sitting there. They were like colonizing the stack of wood blocks at the end of the table. It was impossible to ignore, and I couldn't finish eating. I sent them a DM about this but haven't heard back (sent Fri, today Mon night) so I'm just going ahead to post this. One more small thing about the service. They were REALLY attentive. I don't think we went more than five minutes without one of the servers asking if we needed anything. They all seemed really friendly and were just working hard, but our waitress was totally attentive enough without the other two servers coming by to check on us also. It was a little disruptive. Takeaway overall: seemed like it was going through growing pains. If the music volume, side salad bacon, and fruit flies hadn't happened, I'd say it's 3/5 realistically. Would come back for drinks and games and probably not eat here again. Also - totally subjective - but one wall is covered in graffiti and a "We're all mad here" quote. The rest of the decor is cool but that wall is instagram gone wrong, pretty ugly. read more

Super cute place with a little bit of everything, lots of tvs, nice beer selection, cute cocktails, giant games (Jenga & Connect 4). We came in for dinner and stayed for live band karaoke, and although we didn't sing, we had a blast! The band is super interactive and encouraging to the audience and the setting isn't as intimidating as some other live karaoke places I've been to. There are actually some amazing singers who got up (also unlike other karaoke places lol) - even some of the staff took to the stage and they were great too! Not sure why all the complaints on here exist, the staff was super friendly and helpful, they were more than happy to change a tv for us. My boyfriends burger was a little over cooked for him and our waitress was more than happy to get him another one which came out perfect - seriously try their mushroom burger, it's so good! To the lady who believes there may have been a purposely placed hair in her food, I think you watch too many movies, lol - that just doesn't happen in real life. Not sure if i should be reviewing this place as a restaurant or a bar. As a bar, it's bad, and as a restaurant, it's really bad. The drinks were tough to swallow, it's what you would expect at a club at 2am. My napkin had a mustard stain on it and my plate had someone else's food residue on it. On the food side, we ordered the steak sliders and the chicken fingers. Steak wasn't seasoned at all and was overcooked to its dry death. Chicken was mediocre at best. We walked by this place randomly and we immediately decided to go in. As rabbit owners we both fall in love with the little bunny statue. The service there is GREAT. Our waitress (I believe her name is Katherine) is very nice and attentive! The drink list is quite good. As beer nerds we both found some great beers we never tried before. This bar has a very ignorant, abrasive, crass and dishonest employee (I believe one of the managers) working there. Unfortunately, I do not know her name to note it here. The short version is that she falsely accused me and my friends of theft, she basically lied, tried to get us to pay a tab for another group/person they lost track of and cursed at me even after we explained it was not our tab. Full details below. I went there this past Saturday with some friends after a charity gala because we wanted to keep the night going. We found a table and a couple of my friends went to the bar to grab drinks. I had enough to drink and didn't want to get drunk, so I had my friend get me some water. We stayed until they closed, my friends closed their tabs, then we called an Uber and went outside to wait. Just as the uber arrived a woman that worked there came out yelling at us that we didn't pay our tab and that it's illegal to leave without paying. We explained to her that we paid. We explained that a group of people asked us to join them for a game before the bar closed, so she should check with them if she believes the drinks were from a certain area to have suspected us because we already paid our tabs. They were also standing outside the bar for her to check with them and they were clearly drunk, so it would make sense if they forgot to pay. For some reason she insisted it belonged to us, so we agreed to go back inside to sort it out. Once we got inside she walked up to the bartender behind the bar, she says we didn't pay, then points at me and says 'the open tab is for the one in the hat.' This was a lie. I am saying this is a lie and not a mistake because it wasn't my tab and she had no reason to believe it was my tab to so confidently say it was. Even if she thought it was from people sitting in a certain area, how does she jump to 'it belongs to this person'? She didn't know who the tab was for to make the claim that it was mine. In addition to it not being my tab, I know this to be true because we overheard the bartender say "I have no idea who I served those drinks to" referring to whatever was on the tab. So she wasn't even the one serving the drinks to think she could possibly know who ordered them. I personally did not even order one drink the entire time I was there, so this wasn't some confusion that I had a drink and she just didn't remember that I paid. She claimed she knew it was our tab and my tab specifically, which clearly isn't possible and is dishonest. It is unfortunate that someone left their tab without paying. I understand that bars will force their employees to pay when this happens, but it was not our tab and not our fault. What type of person thinks it is okay to just accuse a random group of people, singling me out, to make accusations of theft? She did not say "Hey, we have a open tab, is it for someone in your group?" That would have been completely understandable as she clearly didn't know who the tab belonged to and needed to figure it out. That is not how this was handled. She jumped straight to accusing us of theft, presumably because we were still there as if it would be impossible that it belonged to someone that already left or another group. My friend pulled out his receipt while inside to show her, she didn't even seem to acknowledge it. I don't know if she ever bothered to ask the group, that invited us to play a game with them, as we suggested. She didn't seem to care if it was actually our tab and I got the impression she was trying to scare us into paying this random tab by accusing us of breaking the law. Apparently, she preferred doing that over trying to actually figure out who the tab actually belonged to. She could have asked us what we ordered, asked who we ordered from, checked receipts.... I lost my patience with this person and said to my friends "This isn't our problem, we paid our tab..." and directed my friends to leave in our uber that was still waiting. The woman overheard this and said "this IS your problem" which makes zero sense as it wasn't our tab and not our responsibility to figure it out. On top of everything else, as I was leaving she yells at me "You're an asshole." I was falsely accused of theft, calmly explained to her that it was not our tab and even offered her help by suggesting she check with the obviously drunk group that invited us to join them standing a few feet away. Then instead of speaking to her the way she spoke to us, I chose to leave and I got called an asshole. Part of me wonders if she is this ignorant or if this is some kind of scam she runs on drunk people. The reason I say this is my friends confirmed that each of them had to put a card down when they ordered their drinks. Which is the normal procedure in most bars. So how did she have a open tab with drinks on it and no card to charge????? read more

I recently moved to Old Town this past summer and decided to stop in for the first time with some friends and family. We had a good time and some good food in a nice bar atmosphere with games like Giant Jenga. So St. Patricks day came and I decided to take my friends here as I thought it would be a good time. The bar was packed as expected and we were having a great time for about 30 minutes. There was a group of 10 or so of us so we were not able to get a table, but like most people we hung around the bar. All of a sudden a guy came flying past us, and rammed into one of the girls I was with spilling her whole drink and kept walking. I simply tapped him on the shoulder and said, "Hey, you can apologize for that". With no response, he kept walking towards the door, grabbed the bouncer and told him to get us all out. I asked the bouncer why we were being kicked out and he said his manager told him he had to and couldn't give us a reason. The guy who ran into my friend, spilling her drink is apparently the GM, and instead of simply saying sorry, or maybe offering her a new drink, he kicked us all out. While we were leaving the GM grabbed another one of my female friends by the arm and dragged her out as well, even though she was not involved one bit. Talking to the bouncer outside he apologized but said there was nothing he could do since the direction was coming from his boss. In finality, I will not be coming back to this bar as the GM seems to be a rude, inconsiderate person who does not know how operate a place of business. As a former bouncer I know that it is awkward when you have to remove people from the bar/restaurant and you cannot even tell them why. Since I only live a few blocks away I will make sure everyone knows this GM is a piece of trash who does not deserve their buisiness... Another fun fact is that my credit card was there and was not allowed to get it, so I was without my card for the remainder of the day until I came back to get it the next day. This GM is a piece of work who instead of a simple "I'm sorry" decided to flex his tiny muscles and kick us out for him spilling a drink. I have been wanting to come here since I heard they opened. I really was intrigued by the concept. From an oversized bunny at the window, to the paintings on the walls, to the clock...all great touches. The bar is clean and bright and fresh. There is not a lot of seating, but enough for an early dinner which is when I have come both times. I really enjoy their beer menu as they always have a couple of stouts or porters. I also enjoyed their food, especially the blanched carrots...I know that seems odd but they are delicious. I must have made a real stink about it because the waitress remembered me the second time around. I have also had their black bean hummus, salad, and chicken fingers which have all been good. And for desert they gave us some gummy bears. What I appreciate the most is that they are close to my house. I think I have found my go-to bar! read more

We gladly sat outside so we can hear ourselves talk but once we had to move inside after 11pm, we could not stand how loud it was inside.
