6 of us had lunch there yesterday. I got the chicken pecan sandwich special. I neither saw nor tasted any pecans and the chicken seemed to have been put through a grinder. It was bland and had far too much mayo in it. The rest of my group got the turkey panini, which was supposed to have Brie and strawberries on it. Out of 5 people, no one's sandwich had even one piece of a strawberry and a few said they had no cheese. We started with the calamari...although cooked nicely, (not rubbery), it was incredibly greasy. She had the $32 balsamic-grilled NY sirloin. Again, it was cooked perfectly (sous vide?), but had absolutely no flavor. It seems as though there were no seasonings whatsoever. I can certainly make a better one for 10 bucks. The fingerling potatoes tasted like dishwater. I had the New England baked haddock. Not only were there next to zero ritz breadcrumbs, it also tasted bland and the fingerling potatoes again tasted like dishwater. The server was nice enough, but she did not seem like she had her head in the game, very scattered. All in all, this place is VERY loud and lacks flavor/seasonings. It's not my first time there, but it very well may be my last. I certainly will not be buying entrees as they were horrible. I've had sliders in the past and other apps, but that's all this place is decent for (if you want to watch a game or ten) I got the $100 check and reluctantly gave a $30 tip. Great spot with an awesome atmosphere, however, the Covid limits you to 90 minutes and it takes 78 minutes for your food to come out of the kitchen. So you have 12 minutes to eat before they kick you out. Food is also mediocre, so I guess it's worth the wait. read more

I went here last night with a group. We got there around 7:30 and were told the wait for a table for 7 would be about 30 minutes. No problem, we can grab a drink at the bar. The bartenders we not inviting and seemed bothered by us ordering drinks. (I bartend and am very forgiving when I go out, but can absolutely tell they wanted nothing to do with working the bar that night). After about 40 minutes I noticed a large table left, another 15 minutes after then one of the members in my party asked how much longer and we were sat at the table that had been open for 15minutes. The waitress was very nice. The appetizers were good. The burrata was delicious. We also got nachos and fries pickles and were happy with both. They have house made chips with a delicious dipping sauce, but the chips were all too small to dip. I got the haddock sandwich and the breading was not good at all. I pulled all the breading off and ate only the fish. Two of my friends also didn't love their meal and left most of it on the plate. Overall the atmosphere wasn't great. The bartenders seemed bothered by us, it took us an hour to get a table after being told it would be 30 minutes, the signature chips were all small (like the end of the bag size), and the food wasn't great. Had dinner here with family and everything was good. I had the buffalo chicken mac and cheese. Two others at the table had the steak tips and the fourth meal was a burger. Everyone, including myself, enjoyed their meals. We also had the nachos for an app, which were fairly good. Our server, as well as the various food runners, was terrific. Very friendly and efficient. The location is nice, the restaurant itself is trendy and modern looking, with plenty of flat screens above to catch your favorite sporting events. Free parking is available and even though it's located at a golfing club, the restaurant is casual dress. A couple of things that some might view as drawbacks. First, it's noisy---loud music and voices travel through the establishment. Usually, this doesn't bother me, but it is worth pointing out that if you are dining out with the intention of having conversations, or catching up with people you haven't seen in a while, you will find it a tad annoying having to shout your words, or have to constantly lean in to hear what someone is saying. Just an FYI. Secondly; I should have quit while I was ahead, but I was coaxed into ordering dessert with the rest of my family. Our server informed us that the dessert menu changes daily, and the desserts are provided by Montillio's Bakery (local area bakery.) 2 from our table ordered key lime pie (which they enjoyed), I ordered the chocolate "something or another" cake, and I don't remember what the fourth dessert was. As far as my chocolate cake? Regrettable. It was nothing more than dry chocolate cake with cream filling inside a chocolate layer shell. Honestly, I might as well have been eating a hostess cup cake, because that's exactly what it tasted like. Just another FYI---I'm not delusional in assuming people come here for the desserts, or care much about the noise issues. It's just worth pointing out. We just went to the Range in hingham to watch Tiger Woods win the PGA Tour Championship. They had maybe 30 televisions all showing 2 football games, neither being the Patriots (they dont even have NFL Sunday Ticket mind you) with zero TVs showing the golf. When I asked the bartender to put 1 TV on the golf match, she said she wasn't allowed to change the televisions. I asked for the manager, but he had left for the day (3pm). This place is called the RANGE!! It's a bar where you can hit golf balls.... AND THEY DONT SHOW GOLF on Sunday!! What a joke. Embarrassing!!!! read more

JT and I went to check out The Range for dinner last weekend. First impressions, the restaurant and bar are large and spacious. Seating is ample and the super high ceilings are a plus. The bar has the best view for sure as the rest of the restaurant looks over the parking lot. We saw a couple tables getting the complimentary chips but they never appeared for us. Not that we minded all that much as we ordered an appetizer but the servers should be mindful of keeping things equitable across the board. The draft list is small and features mostly domestics and the bottled beer list follows suit. I didn't try and cocktails but it does seem like a place that would have a signature drink or two. We ordered the burrata appetizer to start. It was very, very tasty. It was definitely a large portion, could have probably shared it with two other people and everyone would have been satisfied. The cheese was very fresh and the bread had a nice crispy outside. For my meal, I decided on the scallops over spinach risotto. The scallops were well done (slightly over-peppered but I managed) and the risotto wasn't bad. It probably isn't something i would order again, just in favor of seeing how the restaurant presents other dishes. JT had the burger, which he liked but we both agreed that his sweet potato fries were oily (perhaps the fry oil wasn't hot enough?). The one other thing was that the food was fast - kind of too fast. We wanted a little more time to enjoy our appetizer before the main dishes came out but they were right on top of each other. We thought we'd enjoy a leisurely dinner but we were done eating within 30 minutes! The sever and hostesses were kind and efficient. Hidden gem in Hingham when you think about good food drinks and service you usually don't assume you'll find that at a golfing spot. Normally driving ranges have a snack bar and thats about it, but this place is like a driving range and an amazing bar/restaurant all in one. The crowd attracts a lot of younger people who dress nice and seem to see this spot as a hangout. Our server Kelley was attentive and was really helpful with drink and food selections. We both had the fish tacos which I usually prefer grilled but it was really good, spicy and sweet. Huge portions as well. Love it here. You won't find another bar with a similar atmosphere on the south shore. The outdoor patio allows you to choose from sitting in the sun or sitting beneath the cabana. They have a great cocktail menu, I've never had a drink I didn't like. As for the food, I can't vouch for the whole menu but what I've had, I enjoyed. Try the buffalo chicken dip! Went there yesterday for appetizers and was pleasantly surprised. We sat outside on the patio. What a cute lil setup! Kelcey was our waitress and she was AWESOME! She was very friendly, attentive and always had a smile. All waiters and waitresses should follow her example. We order a delicious bottle of wine and 2 apps. The mussels were mediocre. Stopped in recently for dinner with some friends who are regulars here. It wasn't super busy but seemed to be a little understaffed. Service was friendly but super slow and forgetful. We had to ask for several times for things that the server had already confirmed several times. The food makes this place worth the trip though. I was really impressed with this place and have made a note to come here in the future (and the summer for sure!). The place is brand new (I think) because the interior looks like it was recently done. The menu is not huge but honestly EVERYTHING sounded amazing. They serve up chips with an onion dip when you sit down. We had the fried pickles and tuna melt and the Range chicken sandwich. Everything was delicious! Buyer beware!! Many menu items advertised as GF. Not all together true. Great menu, but don't assume the menu item is totally gluten free. IE: Chicken piccata with linguine. You would think because it is tagged GF, that the entire meal is. Not so. Linguine is not. GF pasta has to be specifically ordered and there is an up charge. Burger GF, roll is not. Has the option to order with up charge. Spoke to manager. They need to change menu to specify GF option available. Been here about five times, and felt inclined to hop on here for a review since the outdoor patio is now open! Got a mudslide and they were out of mudslide mix, so our server Jared said they would be putting real ice cream in it instead - fine by me! Jared did a great job, very relaxed but efficient. The high top tables outside next to us were all laughs when he would start talking with them, so it's great to have that kind of waiter who knows what he's doing. The steak tips are awesome, and every time I start off with the buffalo chx bread and dip bowl its always a crowd pleaser. Their cobb salad is one of my favorites too, it's huge I almost couldn't finish it last time, or maybe that was because of the buffalo chicken app. Either way, it was great and it already comes with chicken which is a plus already factored into the 15$ price (get it blackened..a nice kick to it!) . Outdoor is fun because you get sweeping sunset views, high top tables, red Adirondack lounge chairs, a stone enclosed area with a TV, heaters, drawstring lights around the whole complex, standing room section/bar area, and a walk up window from the inside bar. read more

First impressions are its a sports bar, so my expectations were not tremendously high, i'm happy to report i was wrong, it may look like a sports bar with way too many TV's but the food is considerably better. We weren't fortunate enough to receive the illusive home made chips at our table, maybe you have to ask for them, but no problem, we ordered plenty of apps. Calamari was deliciously tender and cooked perfectly, corned beef reuben sliders on pretzel bread, excellent but the gold medal app winner was the pulled pork sliders, divine, i'd go back and have them as my dinner. #1 had Steak and cheese sandwich i had them do it in a wrap rather than a sub roll and it was one of the best i've had in a long time, served with coleslaw and fries, #2 had fish taco's which were served with rice and asparagus, quite tasty and well presented, #3 & #4 had the steak tips, mentioned they tasted ok but were overcooked and a couple of them were way too chewy and ended up in the sand trap, #5 had steak frites and was pleased with his choice, #6 had the chicken sandwich and was not quite as thrilled as the others i believe, it looked a little too complicated with way too many toppings #7 & #8 shared a fish sandwich, this was by far the runt of the litter, painfully thin fish and supremely disappointing batter, serving it with lettuce and tomato always seems foreign to me, then again, i am foreign! Service was prompt and friendly, food came out hot and was delivered by multiple staff pretty much all at the same time. Drink prices were good (and they have Strongbow cider on draught, BONUS!) and we found the bar service ok prior to being seated, its a big bar and they do seem to struggle when its packed as do most places. Plenty of parking makes it easy to get in and out, Saturday night was jammed, reservations on the weekends are definitely recommended. read more

The flank steak tacos were disappointing--steak wasn't marinated so not tender in any way, raw (fleshy) in the middle, and very chewy in a bad (gross) way. (Waitress didn't come by till we were finished so no chance to say anything.) The sweet potato fries are fabulous! I've had the fish tacos before and they were okay, not great, and very messy. Quinoa bowl was okay. The chicken wingre overly salty so won't be getting those again. Turkey wrap sandwich was nothing special. Came here on a Friday about 8pm. The bar was extremely packed and loud but the dining area had plenty open tables. Our drinks came very quickly but getting our food was a disaster. It took so long and when we finally stopped our waitress she said it was coming right out. It did not come right out and someone, maybe the manager, came to the table to apologize and said our food went to another table and the customers at that table didn't tell them it wasn't their food. The woman said they were making our dishes over and offered free dessert. Finally we see the food coming and the person bringing the food to tables (not our waitress) literally passed right by us and ready to bring it to the wrong table again. We quickly shouted for her to stop! My mom enjoyed her fish tacos. They were huge from all the toppings on it. I got the Mac & Cheese and it was not good at all. Not sure if it's because they had to quickly remake it or what but the sauce was apparently poured on top of the noodles and there were dry noodles on the perimeter of the plate. I have been here several times since they opened and the service is always really friendly and the food is always delicious. When they first opened parking and noise were an issue but it seems like these issues have been corrected. The Manager told me they purchased noise panels and it has made a noticeable difference. Visited over the weekend to try out the new seasonal menu and had drinks by the finished fireplace; it was fantastic!! My wife and I went last night for a company get together. We ended up staying in the bar with about 30 people in the group. There was a group of about 80 outside on the deck overlooking the driving range. So we all still had a very good time in the bar area even though it was tight quarters there. The appetizers we're very good and I tried most of them. My wife and I did have food from off the menu. My wife had the Turkey club roll up and I had a pretty darn good burger. While we were sitting at the bar eating I saw a lot the other food going out to people's tables or to the bar. It all looked really good. I gave this place a 4star because my husband totally loves the vibe here. I would say 3star because they are still new and working out the kinks. There seems to be a lot of unused space on the inside. Pro's- everything is new- the bar is trendy, the outside is nice, relaxing, good vibe, managers are checking in with customers to make sure that they are happy, cocktails are delicious- I have had 4 meals there, and can't complain about the food at all. Con's- LOUD LOUD LOUD. If you are on the inside, you are literally screaming to talk to the person next to you. Bad engineering for sure. The tables are so close together to one another, you might as well be sitting with your neighbors. My husband and I just sat there staring at each other because it was too much work to communicate. (maybe that is why he likes it there- hehe.) The high top tables at the bar are SO extremely close together, you can barely get in and out. If they used some of that unused space in the middle of the restaurant, they would have been able to provide more room for the high top tables. In Between Reviews- definitely a lot of people know people here. We live in the town, but its a high 20s place, with a mixture of hingham moms! Ha. Its a great vibe for sure, but you get a lot more attention if you know someone there. Looking forward to re-visiting once they do something about the sound. read more

Bizarre experience. We had two people order steak frites that were supposed to be served in bleu cheese butter come out smothered in a vinaigrette dressing? We asked the waitress about it and she told us it just appeared to be vinaigrette because of how the grill effects the bleu cheese? After our table decided that excuse was insulting, we asked her again. She came back 5 minutes later and told us that she spoke with the kitchen and they told her the frites are cooked in the butter and then smothered in vinaigrette despite not being listed on be menu? What the hell? We told her we thought it was weird to have an entirely different flavor profile served to us. Overall, the food and atmosphere were good good but left with a bad taste in our mouth (no pun intended). We gave our waitress two opportunities to just tell us they messed up our food and both times she came up with a preposterous response. read more
