Parking can be hectic, but thankfully we found a spot. The owners are phenomenal. They are ridiculously funny and hospitable. Helped us pick the right option with patience. My boyfriend and i decided to check this place out on Sunday evening. The place is a few stores down from urban outfitters and right near green turtle. We are usually big fans of Vito's cheesesteak just because of its proximity to us. We both love cheesesteaks and i stumbled on to this place while looking through yelp. When we arrived, it was pretty empty, there were 2 other people and the owner was the only one making the food. He was very very friendly and patient, he helped us with making a decision, we both ended up getting "the real one", fries, and a drink. The real one is a cheesesteak sub that comes with peppers, onions, American cheese, special hot sauce, mayo, and mushrooms. I think for both orders we paid about $30. Unfortunately the credit card machine was down so we had to go out to get cash, our food was ready in less than 7-10 minutes. The amount of meat on that cheesesteak was probably the most i have ever had/seen on a cheesesteak! He really hooked us up!!! The bread was delicious and toasted just right and cheesesteak was seasoned perfectly. I actually could have done without the special hot sauce. As far as the most meat I've ever gotten on a cheesesteak, i would definitely give it to this place! You definitely get your money's worth! I have had better cheesesteaks in the past, but this one was really really good, i think it would have been in my top 3 without the hot sauce! I don't know what it was, but it was like the sauce took away from the perfection of the sandwich. The fries were also very crispy and delicious. Parking was ok, we parked behind the building in an open lot, which is usually free on weekend evenings, that lot is usually full most of the time. I placed an order over the phone for a cheese steak hoagie while I was at the mall and arrived 10 minutes later. There was no one behind the counter when I arrived, just a few patrons eating. Shortly thereafter I was approached ("greeted" would be too strong of a word") by a gentleman who was doing double-duty as cook and cashier. I was caught off guard by the $12.50 total since the sub is advertised at $9.50. The cook told me the mushrooms were extra and there was a $1 charge for using a card. Okay, I am used to the shady business practices of charging patrons a credit card surcharge. However, most businesses will waive the fee if the purchase meets a minimum threshold and mine should have, at least, qualified for that. And charging for mushrooms???? I never considered mushrooms a luxury food item that required an additional charge. Okay, so I'm already disappointed by the customer service so this better be the best cheese steak ever since I felt taken advantage of as a customer. The meat was very, very good and flavorful and the filling was very generous. The bread (an equally important component, if not more) fell very short - it was as not soft enough and too chewy at times. I thought the cook had forgotten the tomatoes because I didn't discover one until halfway in. I'm not exaggerating when I say there was a single slice in the entire (9 inch!!!) sub and the hot peppers weren't prominent either. Found on Yelp and it was a great find late at night. After spending the past three days taking care of my wife at the hospital it was a fantastic and quick meal. I got the The Real Chicken Cheesesteak and a side of fries. It was quickly prepared and I was able to speak a little with the owner and son (I assume this is the case). The father has a quick wit and was fun bantering with. Most importantly the food was great especially late night. Wonderful melding of chicken and cheese with the onions and mayo. The fries were still crispy when I got home a little while later. They season with salt and pepper which is not the normal straight salt seasoning but I prefer it personally. So no issues there. This location has really good cheese steaks. I am from south Jersey just outside Philadelphia and recommend this location. First of all they use Liscios bread which is from south Jersey and is much better than any hoagie bread made local to Maryland. They also make the steaks to order which is great. My only complaint is that the location needs some updating but I will be back for a cheese steak. read more
