1st return visit after $15.9 million remodel from 2021 bond program. WOW! Seeing all the new stuff…read moreyou almost forget how dated it was before. Much better looking from ceiling to floors. See photos. Another rec center is closer to home and will go there to save drive time. But nice to have an option for a newer location. Appears all the exercise equipment on 2d floor has been replaced with same models just new ones. One needs to bring own lock for lockers or buy one from rec center. Too much to list here but do a Google search to review all the improvements made visible and behind the scenes (roof/HVAC/plumbing)

We love this gym because of the pools and the inside is nice, and has a lot of cardio and strength…read moretraining equipment. However, most of the front desk seems like they hate people. Meaning, they are pretty indifferent when greeting or answering questions about the facility. They don't really say hello until we do. I can tell they are just there to have a job, so it doesn't detour me, but geez. I can't imagine being the face of the facility, and having such a poor attitude. They are not mean or disrespectful, but it's like they just tolerate the paying guests that come in. Kind of like that new emotion on the Inside Out 2 movie. There is one guy that is friendly-I think he has reddish hair and glasses. There is another guy upstairs and the first time we went, he just stared my son down in the youth area for like the first 20 minutes we were there. My son is within the age range, but I guess the staff member wanted to make sure he didn't do anything wrong. I interacted with him a bit, and it seemed to break down a little bit of his mean-mugging vibe. He might try saying hello to people, because most people won't want to break any rules if it means disappointing a friendly guy that is in charge. The facility is cool. I suggest they get built in locks on the available lockers like they have at Carpenter Rec. I also recommend that management have a team building exercise or rotate the front people with other staff to give them a break. If you can get past the blah energy upon arriving, it's a really great facility.

If you're looking for the gold standard of playgrounds in Frisco (or honestly, anywhere nearby),…read moreHope Park is it. This is hands-down one of the most thoughtfully designed, beautifully maintained, and inclusive parks I've ever visited. The playground is massive, separated into different sections by age group, which is a lifesaver if you have both toddlers and older kids. Everything is built with accessibility in mind ramps, wide pathways, sensory features, musical instruments, and even mini pretend storefronts that spark imaginative play. The rubberized ground covering is such a bonus for safety too soft, clean, and comfortable for little ones learning to navigate the world. There's also a splash pad right next door, which is an absolute magnet on hot Texas afternoons. Shaded picnic tables and benches are scattered throughout the park, making it easy for parents and caregivers to relax without feeling like you have to hover the entire time. What makes Hope Park extra special is the heart behind it. It was created by the Frisco community with the dream of building a place where all children no matter their ability level could play side by side. You can feel that spirit when you're here. It's not just a playground; it's a celebration of inclusion, joy, and togetherness. Pro tip: It can get very busy on weekends, so early mornings or weekday evenings are perfect if you want more space to roam. Parking is plentiful, and restrooms are nearby. Five huge stars!

We went on a night where it was raining and chilly and it just perfectly set the vibe. The only problem we had was the parking was not super clear and would have been better with better signage. If you are an above average fan, the price tag and amount of outdoor walking likely won't deter you. If you are just looking for something different but haven't seen at least 3 of the movies, I would be tempted to pass. We were lucky and had perfect weather for the 1-1.5 trail. I noticed that they had a small coat check but we kept our jackets just in case. The trees significantly reduce the wind so people were shedding jackets and wishing we brought a wagon to carry them and bottled waters. Saturday night ran us $72 for adults, $57 for kids, $5 for parking, $7-8 hot chocolates and $8-13 cake pops. Shortly upon entering, I sensed that the price tag wasn't going to justify the experience for some of our group. We had a former superfan, about 3 years from the height of her obsession. She enjoyed it the most but still thought the price and distance could have been reduced. Follow the concrete trail and you'll enjoy some scenes from the movie along with a few audio snippets. The lights are well done and the few interactive stops were the most appreciated by our youngest fans. At these stations, there are a few wands to use for the wand dual or casting a spell. It isn't scary and kids and older people seemed to do fine strolling the path in the dark. The staff spaced groups out so you aren't shoulder to shoulder. Maybe a 10-15 min light for picture opportunities and then move on to the next. The end drops you at snack and drink pit stop, roast some huge marshmallows or hit the merch store and pick up your wand, starting at $45. It was a very chill crowd at our 7pm entry. We were a few minutes late but luckily it didn't matter. Eventually we got our drinks situation settled and begin our tour. We saw the stag and stopped a few minutes later due to a line. The group is let in and a staffer reviews your journey. Overall it was enjoyable. You will feel slightly rushed through the interactive stations as everyone wants to get a picture or take a turn. Hang back towards the end of the group if you suspect you'll need additional time. The curvy paths aren't super wide so skip the giant wagons/strollers.
