But after spending at least an HOUR every year playing mediator between the doctor, insurance company, and lab, it's starting to feel less like "oops" and more like a seasonal tradition. Usually they eventually fix it after I call enough times. Other times I've honestly just paid it because I value my sanity. This there were two tests I knew insurance wouldn't cover, paid for them upfront with my credit card, had the doctor separate them on a different form, AND asked for a receipt. The receipt only had the amount paid -- no description. Which already felt a little "interesting." Convenient that for some reason they have no way of putting a description what I paid for on this but every time they send me a bill it has a very accurate description of what they are billing me for. It's sad that it comes to me having to cord this interaction to protect myself. So I asked on video: "So these definitely will not be billed to insurance since I'm paying here?" Receptionist: "Yes." Fast forward to this week: guess who just got billed $36 for those exact same tests. At this point I'm not even mad about the money. It's the principle. Because I know a lot of people probably just sigh dramatically, pay the $30, and move on. But no. Not this year. This year I will be returning like a low-budget legal drama with my receipt, my credit card statement, AND my little video clip. Honestly the phlebotomists are sweet, but the front office acts like kindness costs extra. They are shockingly rude! So if this place keeps overbilling you too: fight it. Even if it's annoying. Service depends, as with all businesses, on the folks who are on staff that day and the volume of patients. Get there on a slow day with the amiable staff, an excellent experience. High volume day with a cranky person, flat experience. I've seen both. I still say this is a good location due to it being hidden--the volume will be lower than other CPLs. But, that doesn't mean it will be low--just lower (if you hit a busy time). I'm increasing my stars because, with my increased visits, I'm finding friendlier phlebotomists.

When it's your turn They grill you, critique the amount of your specimen and ask for non-existent paperwork. I sent my husband in the first day to take in the first specimen. He came back talking about the mean lady. I went today. She's more than mean she's horrible. In the 3rd window. Not nice, doesn't like her job and doesn't like people. I feel sorry for her. It's not an easy job I wouldn't think but it's made a lot worse by bad management. And I venture to guess the other locations are bad sometimes but you can always count on this location to be ugly.

I had to call my doctor to get the same paperwork sent over again for the tests I needed. They also had me fill out an entirely new set of my information. I do not recommend this place. Quick, efficient and painless. I took one star off as there were signs everywhere saying furniture is disinfected after each guest. It doesn't look like it. The tech works alone including being a receptionist. It will be a lot slower if he has to do that too. There is also a sign at the front saying there is a disinfectant for check-in tablet, it's none to be found.

They have 5 locations in the Austin area and this one near 183 and Balcones Woods (not far from where I work, thus my decision to go here) is a fairly recent addition. Online appointments are theoretically available at https://www.labcorp.com/labs-and-appointments, but they also take walk-ins. Note that they are closed from 12:30-1:30, so dropping off a sample at lunch may be a challenge. There seems to be a trend in clinical lab chains these days to try to staff the locations with a barebones "team of one" who has to do everything from phlebotomy to security to administration to janitorial services. That must help the bottom line somewhere, but it makes the patient/customer experience a total frustration from start to finish. Case in point: this site for LabCorp (well, at least the comically accurate name previews the impersonal treatment you can expect). First off, the website and outgoing phone message give you absolutely no clue that you are actually heading to a building in the Seton Northwest Hospital complex. After following my Waze/Google/Yelp map trifecta to ensure I was going to 11111 Research Blvd, I wasted about 20 minutes driving around in circles looking for the listed address on a sign, a marque with the business name, anything to suggest that LabCorp was nearby. Nothing! I wasn't the only one, either, as I later saw 3 other cars apparently doing the same bewildered slow drive around the parking lot and surrounding locations that I did. When you call the listed phone number, you only get an automated message with minimal information and no ability to speak to a live person to ask a question (because the only person there is busy doing EVERYthing else in the office). Is it too much to ask to add one more sentence to the disembodied voice message which says, "Located in the Seton Northwest Health Plaza building in the same medical complex as Seton Northwest Hospital"? Once you finally get to the correct destination, posted signs indicate that you will not be treated as a human being but rather as a potential threat or criminal. Need a drink of water? The sign says to ask permission before accessing the fountain; who can give permission if the only staff person is in the back taking a sample from another patient? Happen to have your kid with you? Good luck with this errand because they can't come to the lab bay with you and you can't leave them unattended in the lobby. The self-signin machine was out of service, so you had to wait your turn to speak to the single human employee onsite. And so on. I photographed only a portion of the many ominous & paternalistic directives around the room. I was the 2nd customer in the room when I arrived shortly after the posted open hours, but it still took about 15 minutes until I was able to have my lab samples taken & sign all the necessary paperwork. The patient before me was berated for not properly registering his appointment and from the waiting area, I was able to hear his entire interaction with the lab tech, something I'm certain breaks HIPAA (medical privacy) best practices. I also was not pleased with the paper sign-in sheet which was viewable by everyone and requested the patient's full name and time of arrival; I did not comply and simply wrote my initials. My interactions with the lab tech / do-it-all person were as pleasant as could be under the circumstances. I believe that she was doing the best she could under conditions beyond her control. For her, I'm leaving 2 stars rather than the 1 that this experience warranted. Next time I need to have a lab sample analyzed, I'll choose another company, even if I have to drive out of my way to do so.

I've always had a great experience here and this time was decent but just not great…read more I arrived at 7:00am thinking I could be taken in as a walk-in. There were 3 phlebotomists and I believed that since there were only 4 of us that I would be seen before my scheduled 9:30am appointment. It was also urgent that my blood was drawn at around 8:30am because of my doctor's request. Yet, the phlebotomists were yapping really loudly as they prepared for the day and they never quite caught up. They were operating 20 minutes behind schedule and it was quite disappointing. Still, I waited the 2.5hrs and had a great experience once I was taken back. I only had one issue which was how much my insurance was covering but that was easily addressed. I will still come here for all things bloodwork. The team always makes me feel comfortable and seen and heard.
