We happened upon this restaurant very happily last night while traveling through the state heading west. A delightful meal! Everyone was so welcoming as we walked in; we were seated in the bar. Our server, Yuliana, was attentive and friendly, super knowledgeable about the dishes and made great recommendations. Courses were timed perfectly so as not to overlap and we never felt rushed. The portions are large and delicious so sadly we did not have room for tiramisu even though I wanted it so badly. There is definite love and attention to detail in this authentic food. We were a party of five and dined at this restaurant last weekend, which was Labor Day weekend. We had no trouble getting a table, but we waited well over an hour to get our food. I realize it was the holiday so no complaining here. I ordered the fettuccine and meatballs and my grandson ordered a meatball sandwich. The sauce was excellent, but the meatballs were painfully salty. I want to love this place and I am going to try again, but I hope whoever reads this does talk to the chef about salt. We made a reservation on the web site for Tonelli's on 12 next to Swingbelly's, The reservation was confirmed by return email. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and was told that the restaurant was fully booked, and there was a problem with their website. No remedy was offered and no time was offered for when a table would be available! No offer for us to place a carry out, no effort at apology, just a brush off. One hell of a way to run a business! We were visiting my sister who lives in the area, and she was discussing how she has been for weeks been wanting to check out this new Italian joint, and so we entered excited to try the new cuisine. It definitely didn't disappoint. We opted to sit outside on the massive patio given the food weather, but the vibes in the inside were also very welcoming and cozy. The service was excellent (thanks Anthony!) and the drinks were deep. We got many dishes including two of the delicious hand made fettuccine pastas, wonderfully cooked lamb, and the 4 toddlers in the group had remarkably tasty spaghetti and meatballs. Holy cow, the food was delicious! The menu is very pasta heavy (they don't even have a salad aside from caprese) with some chicken and seafood entrees. The space itself is essentially the same as the prior business, Tripps Treehouse, and while the service was waaaaaay better than Tripps they still seem to be working out some kinks. Prices were definitely on the higher end but seemed worth it based on the quality of the food. read more

Had dinner last night and sat at the bar. This was our third or fourth time here so it's about time I dropped a review. The bartender that took care of us, Katelyn I believe, was great. She was extremely accommodating to the overly critical people next to us while serving amazing drinks. Overall the service and food were excellent. We each had a cocktail and shared a bottle of wine. An absolutely amazing dining experience. I really can't say enough about how incredible the food is. I ordered the Gorgonzola Stuffed Gnocchi and the Lamb Chops. The gnocchi was so light and delicious. Like little pillows. Best gnocchi I've ever had! The lamb chops were cooked to perfection with an incredible red wine sauce that complimented the dish perfectly. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered a lemon drop and a glass of the Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon and both were delicious! The atmosphere is casual and warm and so inviting. Service was superb. Nicki was our server she was fantastic! We had been to this restaurant before it was Tavern on 12, ( blind pig and treehouse) so were familiar with the space but this is the best concept here yet. I like the new decors a lot, the outdoor area should have a few Bacci Ball courts with all the space they have out back! Orrechetti was great, I'll be back for that dish! What a great place for dinner! Italian restaurant, family owned and operated. I can't say anything bad about this place. Everything we ordered was incredible, and the service was perfect. The lighting and music really made the atmosphere extremely comfortable and pleasant. The owner's daughter was our server, and she was great. She was even patient and helpful with my drink requests - I like my cocktails on the sweet side - and they came out great. It was a bit pricey, but worth every penny. I've never been more disrespected by a restaurant establishment in my life. This is my first review ever, 43 years old, and hopefully the last. The hostess clearly is anti-children even though the sign says children welcome. I have a summer home in Long Beach and i will tell everyone I know another failed business in this location. The food is excellent. Cindy (formerly of Taverna Tonelli) and her former chef Luis know food. They have been sorely missed and so glad they are back. Ample portions, homemade sauces and very good wine selections. They are slowly expanding the menu and experimenting with specials. Interestingly, I had one of the best entree Greek Salads there the other day on special!! Best chicken piccatta ANYWHERE (you can get it with linguine or mash/asparagus) and the bolognese is delicious. Meatballs are as good as always. Hubby loves the chicken marsala. All pastas are solid choices. Lamb chops are perfectly cooked and four nice sized pieces with mashed and asparagus and a perfect wine sauce. I keep hoping for the old Tonelli version of Frutti di Mare Linguine. I still think about that dish. Love the olive appetizer and the burratta and prosciutto is legit. The ice cream bars for dessert are really yummy!! And if Cindy has made tiramisu, don't miss it. Cindy has done the best she could with the space. It is little oddly shaped, but the vibe is moody elegance. The bar area is quite nice with a long good-looking bar (my old back does miss backs on the stools, but, as I said, I am old lol). The high top tables in the bar have seat with backs. The dining room is tight and can get noisy on busy nights, but the table and chairs look comfortable. Outdoor patio seating in the back is lovely on good weather evenings. P.S. Cindy says she has plans for the very large outdoor space. Stay tuned! The servers are great. The twins (Autumn and Summer) are so much fun. Nikki is also a great server. Ryan and Vanessa behind the bar know their stuff. Went on when of the very hot nights! Sat in bar, was pretty cool! High tops in bars! Drinks very good, nice pours! Calamari was very good! We had shrimp with fettuccine and the lobster risotto. Owner was so rude, this was our second time coming. They state "children allowed" but instead do not seat you if you have children. This is michigan city/beach community it is a family dynamic. What an expensive and disappointing experience. We asked to be seated outdoors at one of the numerous picnic tables on the grounds because we had two children with us. The waitress said she'd ask the owner/manager who was also seated outside talking with a table full of people and two large dogs, one of which growled as we walked by. Whatever their conversation was, we could hear the manager speak to the server in a rude, condescending tone. That started the evening off. We ordered two appetizers and a salad (one glass of wine). As we were attempting to enjoy our food, one of our children was maybe four feet away from the dogs who both jumped up and began barking and growling at her. She became very frightened, froze and began crying. It took several minutes to calm her. Whoever the person was that we believe was the manager/owner never said a word to us or to the party with the dogs. At that point we decided to pack up our food and go home to the tune of $90.00. Our waitress was great and the food, what we were able to eat of it was very good but as I told our waitress, we definitely will not be returning there again. As a new establishment in the area, we would have expected them to at least care a little bit about the impression they are making on new customers, but they didn't seem to care at all.
