He really made this an extra special experience for us. We all had various rolls, and they were all works of art....and yes, they were delicious. I had cheesecake for dessert. Probably the best cheesecake I've ever had. Nice 'n light. Perfect!! There's a social hour, which I'm guessing is another name for happy hour, daily from 5-7 pm with a nice variety of food and drink specials. They have parking on the side of the building. If I could give The Red Fish more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! My partner and I dined here in celebration of our anniversary, and we could not have had a better experience. The hostess was super kind and led us to a table right next to a beautiful olive tree in the main seating area, which made for a very comfortable vibe and a lovely view. Our server, Levi, provided outstanding service throughout the night and was super knowledgeable and attentive. He was honestly the main reason we had such a lovely time, as his energy was great and he was constantly checking in on us and making sure we were satisfied with everything. To drink, we had the Yuzu Whiskey Sour and the Melrose Passionfruit Martini, both of which were refreshing, delicious, and paired well with our food selection. I also had a Raspberry Breeze mocktail, which was sweet, tart, and bubbly! To eat, we started with the Rock Shrimp, which had a great spicy flavor and crunch to it. We also tried the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, which I liked, but I think the price on this item is a little steep, and you might be better off ordering another roll or menu item. For rolls, we ordered the Crunchy, the Tiger, the Lemon, and the Killer. Of these, my favorite had to be the Killer, as it was super fresh and had a great kick to it. Chef Salvador graciously sent over some Bluefin Tuna and Yellowtail nigiri for my partner and me to try, and it was such a thoughtful gesture and delicious treat for us. Valentine's Day at Red Fish truly felt like a couples' holiday. The entire atmosphere was centered around celebrating love dim lighting, full tables, and that unmistakable date-night energy. It was a beautiful place to spend the evening. As soon as we walked in, we were seated right away, which I appreciated especially on such a busy night. The restaurant was packed, and for a short while we did feel a bit forgotten but once things got moving, the service flowed much better. Because it was so busy, it's not necessarily a place where you feel individually catered to during peak holidays. One small suggestion would be for servers to introduce a popular or featured dish upfront to help guide guests when the room is full. That said, the food and drinks were really good and absolutely worth it. Everything we ordered was flavorful and well-prepared. I do wish I had tried dessert I'll definitely save that for next time. We got their: Japanese Salad Yellowtail Carpaccio Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice Golden Roll Lemon Roll BTS Roll Matcha Tempura Ice Cream Yuzu Whiskey Sour Every single thing we got was delicious! My favorite rolls were the BTS and Lemon Rolls, and I could probably eat another plate or two of their Japanese salad. The spicy tuna crispy rice came as expected, and the yellowtail carpaccio was light and refreshing. They have a great selection of cocktails to pair with your meal, and you need to get their tempura ice cream for dessert. It's a great spot to go for a relaxed date night while enjoying some cocktails and elevated sushi rolls. There's a decent amount of street parking around, but they also have valet when it gets busy. This review is for the social hour only. We dropped in early on a weeknight and ordered several food and drink items from the "social hour" menu. It had quite a good selection for a happy hour, and very good prices. The outstanding items were the spicy scallop hand roll, the spicy tuna cut roll, and the fried tempura branzino bites. The branzino was very lightly breaded and fried to a nice crispy texture without being overly oily. The one miss was the fried calamari which had a much heavier breading. The rainbow roll was fine but I've had better. The service was very good. Granted there weren't many people there at such an early hour (5pm) on a weeknight, but Patricio the bartender was super nice and attentive. The chimichurri was also delicious but I do think its a bit pricey for 3 small lamb chops. Spicy tuna crispy rice $25: 3.5/5 I wish the rice was a bit crispier. But after working in restaurants for years, I know slow nights can bring out a team's best and service here was exactly that. Formal, welcoming and very attentive. Unfortunately, the food and odd presentation missed the mark. They added flourishes that felt performative while skipping essentials. We ordered a dirty martini and were surprised to see the olives simply smothered in gold leaf--why? The ceviche arrived in a carved-out coconut that clearly took more effort than the dish itself. The portion was small, maybe four ounces of fish total. The flavor was there, but the value just wasn't. We also tried a few pieces of nigiri (more gold leaf) which ended up being the highlight. The kampachi nigiri in particular was the best bite of the night. The $70 NY steak, however, was a letdown. We ordered it medium-rare but it came out seared on both sides, raw in the middle and the fat was not rendered. It was our anniversary too so that stung a little. Overall, it was a strange experience. Support Melrose but maybe skip this spot. read more

This place just opened (it's where the brunch spot Taste Kitchen used to be). I was walking past with my dog early on a Friday night, and decided to stick my head in - they have renovated it really well, there is an inside and outside areas - an odd layout they had to deal with which was left by Taste Kitchen. It looks really nice. (Must admit I don't love the high top tables at the front, but that's just me.) I walked past the sushi bar and the fish looked so fresh I decided to sample some take out sushi - it was good. Fish was fresh and tasty, although I would have poured some ponzu over the yellowtail nigiri. Nice serving sizes too, fish cuts were generous. I waited at the bar while the takeout was being made - the staff were friendly and even brought my dog some water which I appreciated. The take out was presented beautifully, the ginger was fresh not prepackaged and the rolls tasted great! The bar is comfortable and the cocktails look great! (I did not indulge). I recently celebrated my birthday at The Red Fish and I couldn't have asked for a better birthday celebration. The staff was also super cute from the second I walked in, they greeted me, said happy birthday, helped me with my jacket and asked if I was here to have a great time which was honestly very welcoming. They also took all of the gifts and put them on the side, which was great because I didn't feel like I had to fuss in making space for everything. From start to finish everything was absolutely perfect and it was the best setting for a fun party with my friends. The food was also delicious. We all work in the hospitality industry and we discussed how every dish that was given to us was delicious and the presentation of each plate was also very appealing to the eye. The sushi was also very fresh and beautifully presented. We had sushi, Japanese salad, and pasta. The drinks on the menu were either margaritas or beer. Because we were a large party, I thought it would be best to create a set menu. What really made the experience stand out though was the service .
