I've had them served to me looking burnt af ... yes BURNT. the color on the ika geso should not be dark brown / almost looking black . That's not how my Ika geso was being served under previous management smh This place no longer feels pro lgbtq+ .. & that was one of the main reasons why I kept coming. Messing up my order the first time is no biggie but messing it up every time I go in to order the same thing on different days ..just for my food to taste overcooked / undercooked is wild. All good. We came in on a Friday night around 9pm, the place was pretty full but we were seated within a few minutes. We waited close to 10 minutes before anyone greeted us, brought us menus or took our drink order. They finally came and literally threw the menus on the table and walked away. I fell in love with their Malibu roll here. We live in Colorado and had a quick trip into town and stopped in here for dinner. I think about this roll all the time now. It hit just right. I'm so glad this place hasn't blown up on social media yet but I am worried that it'll happen soon!! Casual and unassuming, this small sushi spot was empty when I arrived at the tail end of happy hour #1 on a Friday night! The lack of people got me questioning my decision to come. Why no people if the happy hour deals were this good? I got my order in as happy hour was ending and that's when all the other customers started arriving. We ended up having too much fun and staying for happy hour #2 at 8 pm! That's when the place got busy! Started with a large hot sake ($9) to share. It was smooth and easy to drink. Then came the food: Salmon belly nigiri ($6 2pcs) -- buttery, smooth, delicious. Even though the rice to fish ratio was a little high, I was considering getting another. So yummy. Salmon collar/yama ($8) -- big cooked hunk of the fattiest and most tender part of the salmon. This one was nice and simple: just salt and pepper on top. It was also great with a side of teriyaki sauce! So pro tip: ask for teriyaki sauce. Spicy tuna crispy rice ($8 5pcs) -- wonderful textures and flavors. Exactly what I want! The pieces were quite large compared to other more expensive restaurants. Angry tiger roll ($12.99 happy hour price) -- crab, avocado, cucumber with salmon and eel on top. Eel sauce and spicy mayo. I liked all the things in this roll but it was too saucy for me. Next time I would get lite sauce. Super Albacore roll ($12.99 HH price) -- my friend had this and enjoyed it. The rolls came covered in a mountain of crispy onions that kept falling off! They were yummy. Rainbow roll ($12.99 HH price) -- my friend had this and had no complaints. California roll with an assortment of fish on top. We certainly ordered too much and couldn't finish it all! This place is great! I was looking for an affordable sushi spot in the area and I found this spot. They happened to have happy hour at the time we showed up also which was great. The ambiance is very causal. We started with garlic chili edamame and gyoza which were both delicious. We also got the mountain roll and the happy tail roll which were both on the HH menu and they were amazing! So fresh and full of flavor. Affordable and amazing! Cozy spot in weho with great happy hour deals! We went for their 8-9pm happy hour and rolls were around $13 or under, when they're normally ~$18.50. For 3 rolls and a matcha IPA it was around $50 which was such a steal! My favorite rolls were the baked salmon roll and the crunch roll. Both had yummy sauces and the fish felt fresh. We also got the super albacore roll, but it was a bit too sour for my taste. I did enjoy the fried onions on top though. Service was very friendly and rolls came out super fast! I got the matcha IPA because I was curious (i've seen it all social media) and it was interesting -- super strong and bitter beer flavor, but the aftertaste was sweet and tasted like matcha. It is all full-size menu items. It was fairly quiet when we sat down, but the place was popping by the time that we left. There is parking available as well! They do a lot of To Go orders. Drivers were picking up food every few minutes it seemed. The staff is friendly and must have come by the table at least ten times during service. Water always full and plates cleared when we were done with them. We started with garlic edamame, yellowtail collar (Kama), and baked mussels. And then got a couple of rolls to round it out. These were the Super Philadelphia and the Dancing Eel. The edamame came out a couple of minutes after ordering and was steaming hot. They were cooked just right and had so much garlic on them. The baked mussels came a bit later and were very good. Cooked very well and was an attractive presentation. The Kama came after the rolls, but this does take time to prepare. It was a really nice size portion and was steaming hot when it came out. Great to pick at when there are a bunch of choices on the table to choose from. The rolls came out and the table looked full at this point. So many good things to choose from. The Super Philadelphia roll was tasty and had a lot of salmon on it. Stopped in today and had an incredible experience. The sushi was super fresh -- melt-in-your-mouth salmon, perfect yellowtail, and beautiful cuts of tuna. Everything came out looking like art on a board. The jalapeño yellowtail and the salmon were my favorites. Service was friendly, quick, and always on point. But after the blood was drawn, and because I was starving, I decided to treat myself to sushi, and set out to find a place close. Ocean Sushi did not disappoint! I arrived at the restaurant around 2 PM, during happy hour. At this time, you can get any roll for $12.50 each. I ordered three (I know, I know) and ate it all. DELICIOUS! The woman serving had a lovely smile the entire time as she managed the patrons and take-away orders, never missing a beat. The restaurant is small, cute, and oh so good. Parking can be difficult because it is WeHo, but I found street parking without too much difficulty. I got the teriyaki beef, and I'm accustomed to having it be on the wetter side, and this was not, I prefer wet to eat with rice but it was still good.. tbe pickled cucumber was my favorite, I want a whole bowl of that.. the salad is always a hit, gyoza was good, although no dippings sauces for that.. and the edamame's were so dry. Flavor was good though. And then my chicken karaang was perfectly crispy, and sauce was great too! I also ordered the spicy tuna roll, my favorite and it didn't disappoint.. ahh I want another thinking about it.. the roll was great! Now the takoyaki, thos was my first time having it so perhaps it is right and I'm wrong, but I felt it was really bland I couldn't pinpoint if they even added salt. I ordered sashimi for delivery. It didn't smell off, and it tasted good, but 30 minutes after I finished eating, I was vomiting. A lot. It was unquestionably food poisoning from my order, as I'd had nothing to drink but water, and I hadn't eaten anything except the sashimi since the morning. (I've also been eating sushi regularly for like 20 years and I've never gotten sick from it before.) But this isn't the reason for my 1-star review. Mistakes can happen in food storage and preparation at a lot of different points, and even the best places can slip up, so I was ready to give them some grace. But when I called the restaurant to let them know that they had a food safety issue, they didn't seem to care. They tried to blame the delivery driver--"you never know what they're doing to your food" ???--even though he only drove 3 miles and the food and packaging clearly weren't tampered with. They took no responsibility for the incident whatsoever. The response I got honestly shocked me. I've worked in food service for years, and I've never seen a restaurant not take something like this seriously. I wasn't asking for a refund--since I'm getting that from uber eats--I literally just wanted to let them know, for the safety of their other customers, that they might need to get rid of some product, contact their supplier(s), or reevaluate their practices slightly. Very disappointing to essentially be met with a shrug on a health & safety issue. He also has the Ken Roll which was filled with spicy tuna and layered on top with garlic, cilantro, yuzu and ponzu. The flavors were an absolute delight. Rolls on happy hour are like 13 instead of 18 or 19. The edamame app was huge, plenty to share. We were 3 and couldn't finish it. And it was super fresh with a good amount of salt on it which I like. The rolls were fresh and delicious. I liked the shrimp tempura and ultimate salmon roll. The garlic ninja roll was good too. Those were my favorites. The salmon crunch roll was too spicy for me. The plum wine was very sweet. The matcha beer just tasted like beer but was colored green. I guess there was matcha in there too but I didn't taste it. It was quiet on a Monday night.
