A friend and I walked to Boone's Deli from one of the neighboring bars for a sandwich. It was a weeknight and it was fairly quiet. We were able to walk right up to the counter and order. I ordered the Buff Chicken sandwich and added a bag of chips. The sandwich was huge. I couldn't eat the entire sandwich. It was very tasty with a spicy ranch dressing on it. It also had jalapeños but it wasn't too spicy. The staff were very friendly and talked to us about many of their sandwiches and provided recommendations. I'd read about Boone's Deli online and had wanted to visit, but the chance never happened...until it did. :) On a recent Sunday afternoon we paid Boone's Deli a visit. The local eatery on the other side of Taylorsville Road the weekend before was a huge let down, but we'd heard nothing but good things about Boone's. The menu board isn't a board but actually more like a scroll, with all the menu items written on the 3 rolls of brown (for lack of a better word) packing paper on the wall. HIGH marks for creativity! (Hopefully the menu items don't change TOO often. It would be a headache to write all that stuff down regularly!) I opted for a spicy roast beef sandwich (exactly what I don't remember. I've slept since then). You can also get chips or one of a few types of home made salads (think macaroni salad, potato salad, etc) or cole slaw. I'm a HUGE fan of cole slaw, and in the case it looked delicious and peppery (like me). While they were making our sandwiches we chatted with the owners a bit and they seem like really nice, down-to-earth people. The told us how some of the menu options got their names and a little history of the business. It's really nice to to be able to chat with the owners. It wasn't long before our food was ready. My wife had, basically, a Rueben minus the sauerkraut (I hate that stuff) and a bag of chips. We both got a bottle of water. Our total was about $38. I've seen a number of reviewers comment on the cost of their meals. We had no complaints at all. They're serving Boar's Head meats, which a higher class/higher quality than most restaurants go near. You're also paying for locally, home made foods. I'm willing to bet that not a single food item came ready-made out of a jug or a box that came from Gordon's food. This is genuine food made with care and pride by the owners themselves. There's a small seating are behind the counter area and a much larger seating area outside, but the weather wasn't suited for such chicanery. We REALLY enjoyed our first visit to Boone's Deli. Sandwiches are way overpriced, fourteen dollars or so, no chips or drinks included. Bread is subpar, sandwiches are just not worth price charged. 3 sandwiches and a small cup of soup forty seven dollars, then they want a tip for carry out, which brought my total to fifty three dollars. Nice, clean deli with Boars Head meat. The staff were friendly and efficient with filling orders. There could be a little more signage for the direction and ordering at the counter. Also, the inside is big enough to have 3-4 two-top tables, which would be nice. I got the Italian and pasta salad. The sandwich was good and the bread was fresh. They mix the Italian dressing in with the lettuce which is an appreciated step in assembling the sandwich. The pasta salad had the perfect contents, but was dry. Stopped in today for lunch, carry out. Ordered the Boones Italian, Chicken salad Sando, Turkey and cheese pickle sandwich and the Potato Salad. Outstanding! You get every bit of your money's worth and so much flavor. Sandwiches are piled high and great flavor, some of the Best potato salad I have had. The service was excellent, very friendly staff. You could tell they enjoyed what they do. A few tables inside past the deli counter and tables outside on the patio. I would say they are dog friendly but you may want to ask first. If you have never had a Pickle sandwich, you have got to try one. A little messy and juicy but really good. You will not go away hungry read more

We loved Boones Deli! From the delicious sandwiches to the amazing and helpful staff this is definitely a hidden gem! Also, the pasta salad was AMAZING! And side note, they also sell Alani Nu, which was a hidden surprise for me!! They have an adorable outdoor area that faces the sidewalk/street so you can people watch while also being tucked away in private to eat. 100/10 recommend! read more

Okay who gave them the right to make a sandwich so good that I was ready to lick my fingers in public??? This small spot is easily going to be a return visit for me. I got the Italian (light banana peppers) a raspberry ginger ale and some sweet onion kettle chips. The drink & chips were from "Hal's" which I've never had but will be having more of immediately! The sandwich was delicious, light, yet flavor packed. A perfect meals for a hot summer day. This spot is family owned and everyone was as sweet as pie while ordering. This is a new deli in the middle of J-town. There is currently still "newly opened" characteristics of working on team communication and flow, but I find that charming for a new place. There is not a lot of interior sitting. Today they said there was room for 8. There is a large deck outback, but I not sure if it belongs to Boone's. If so, it will add plenty of outdoor seating. They use Boar's Head ingredients and that may be way the $10-15 sandwiches do not include a side. Two sandwiches plus one bag of chips was around $28. Friendly staff greeted us upon entering. Sandwich choices were good. Ingredients were fresh, but taking major points off due to price. Given its just cold-cut lunch meats on bread, it's hard to justify the price. 2 of us spent $42 for 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks, 2 bags of chips (what most sandwich places consider a combo). plus a cookie we split. When I saw ~$14 for my sandwich, I assumed it included a drink and chips. Of course I was wrong. We could have gone down the street and picked up Jimmy John's for both of us for the price one of us paid. Seating was limited (maybe 3 tables that could sit 2 people each?) so we sat outside in their courtyard since the weather was nice. I don't plan to return. read more

We had the opportunity to attend the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting for Boone's Deli in Jeffersontown, KY (Louisville!). What a fabulous addition to J-town! The sandwiches are loaded with meat and cheese and mine had guacamole as well. The Italian Sub was delicious and had some pickled onions on it! Genuine southern pimento cheese was incredible! Add that to the potato salad and pasta salad, and you've got a fabulous meal!! This place is elevated to a cut above! The Boars Head meats were delicious! We loved it! We were greeted coming through the door with very friendly faces. They were more than happy to help my always indecisive 12-year old son build his very own customized sandwich. All 3 of us loved our sandwiches and they were more than enough to eat. My son who also eats like a bird scarfed his sandwich down and asked if we could go there again sometime. Really disappointed. I ordered Grilled Cheese and Tomato Basil soup online for pick-up. In my opinion both of these choices are pretty basic for a deli. The grilled cheese was barely grilled, and didn't have a very good flavor (maybe the bread since it otherwise it was just a combo of american and cheddar cheese. The soup was flavorful and super thick, however I DID NOT enjoy it as a soup. It was definitely more of a pasta sauce vibe, therefore I only used it to dip my not so good sandwich in then threw it away. read more

I have never left a negative review but the owners need to know changes to make to stay in business. Your food is delicious but your prices are way too high. If you are going to charge a premium, you can at least provide a side even a hand full of chips. I love supporting local but only if it's a value. On my last visit, you were missing 3 of the items needed to make a Reuben. Your menu is not so extensive that you can't keep ingredients. Also, turn off the tip feature when people pay for self service. read more
