I have been dying to try The Refill Shoppe for a while now, and tonight really exceeded my expectations! My husband and I (along with our two crazy toddlers) went in tonight right before closing and we were greeted and helped by a really nice man who explained how the whole process works. He answered all of my questions about ingredients/products and broke down the pricing very well. He then patiently waited while i smelled almost every essential oil they offered and mixed it in with my lotion a little at a time to make sure the scent came out just right! Such a great place I love being able fill up on cleaning supplies and lotions, just about anything I need for my house can get here with the added bonus of making it be any scents I want. Ok, seriously, I'm so ready to fall in love with this place. Such a welcoming environment with an original and earth-friendly concept just makes me so excited to try all their products. Products by the ounce, in their containers or yours and scented by you with essential oils or fragrances, what is there to dislike here? For now I'm in love with their custom scented body lotion. I'm in love with this place! You fill up a bottle with shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. and then choose your own scent to go in it! They have pre-mixed scents or you can mix your own. Pretty awesome! Very reasonably priced as well. I hope they open one in Wesr Hollywood where I live! read more

Took a short day trip with some friends to Ventura and it was love at first site with this store. I bought a green clay mask that I absolutely love!! A friend of mine recommended The Refill Shoppe. My first visit to the "shoppe" was yesterday, and I will definitely be back. It was such a unique experience to get to customize the scent of the lotion(s) and hair serum I bought. I gifted two of the lotions for birthdays and kept one for myself, and everyone was impressed with the process of filling your own bottle and picking the scent. I can't wait to try the hair serum. I plan to go back to try out different products including the shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, hair spray, and body wash. Very cool place, if you are in the Ventura area, pay them a visit. read more

I've bought items here for myself and family a few times now - the products are great and I love being able to choose what scents I want. Only negative is the time it takes to get each product scented -- this is partly due to the fact that every customer crowds around the counter where the fragrances are so even if you already know what you have in mind, you can't order. I don't feel the products are pricey considering their quality and how much beauty products usually cost. read more

I love it here. There are so many possibilities in regards to cleaning, health and beauty products with your own personal touch. You can bring your own container or they have plenty of shapes and sizes for you to purchase. Lots of essential oils too that you can buy by the ounce. Be sure to ask about the top shelf oils if you are looking for something unique just keep in mind that those are very pricey, which is why they don't keep them out. read more

The Refill Shoppe is an amazing store that combines taking care of yourself, the ones you love, and the environment all in one! I was thrilled to find a store that cared about recycling bottles and your overall health; products are vegan, paraben, sulfate and fragrance free. I love this shoppe! I have been a customer since this place opened. So, I've been using the products for sometime, and it's all I use really. I love all the body products and enjoy scenting my cleaning products. My home smells so good since I've been buying all my soaps here. And the sustainable goodies and so fun! A GC attached to a glass bottle of one of their lotions (which you can custom scent yourself!), or other refill items is a winner for any eco-conscious (or not) friend. I had been meaning to go into this shop after I saw the article in the Ventura County Star back in September. Finally, I managed to make it there and what a treat! I'd been looking for a lotion like the one I found several years ago up north. This place is awesome! Yay! I can't believe I haven't written a review yet. I always have a wonderful experience here, every single member of the staff has always been really nice and helpful. They usually remember me and what scents I like, and I actually saw two of the employees while out and about and they knew me as "Rose/Palo Santo Girl" which is awesome and accurate. It's also very endearing and kind of embarrassing because at least they know that, and I never remember their names even though I think I've asked a few times. I get body/linen spray and have been going in recently for oils to care for my scalp and dreadlocks.Last time I went in to get a blend for my hair, I asked what would go good with what I picked. She recommended lime, which I would've never have picked up, but it smells phenomenal with the oils I picked. I also read that it will lighten my hair a bit, which is what I normally spray lemon juice on my hair for, now I have one "product" that does it all. Thanks again, ladies! read more

I hate using plastic bottles and this place will sell you glass jars or fill yours . The scents are optional, so you can pick one you like or skip it. Lots of shampoos, lotions, etc. I did not look at the house cleaning products because I use vinegar and baking soda. Staff was helpful. I will be back. read more

My children and I love this store. The little one plays in the area with the desk and toys quite happily whilst my 12 year old is in heaven making up fragrant combinations for her bath salts and soaps. Awesome place! Awesome people! Great for the environment and our health. Products that I've gotten including shampoo, face scrub, and face wash are all wonderful and high quality and work really well! I love that you can pick your essential oils for shampoo and stuff and make it smell how you want it to! They have other cool stuff in there too, great for gifts too. I've been "refilling" here since the shoppe opened and it has positively impacted my life in a couple notable ways: 1) I've used the same four plastic, liter-sized bottles for TWO YEARS and I figured out that during that period I, personally have SAVED TWENTY TWO plastic bottles from the landfill (and I smell EXACTLY the way I want because I selected & mixed the scents myself)! 2) I no longer use plastic forks, knives or spoons (or chopsticks) because I purchased a gorgeous set of bamboo utensils that I love and use regularly. 3) I no longer use plastic lids or cardboard cup insulators when I grab a coffee on-the-go because I purchased the silicon lid & insulator & LOVE THEM! 4) And for the longer haul, I purchased an insulated klean kanteen that keeps my piping hot beverages piping hot & my chilled beverages with ice, STILL icy for HOURS. 5) A bit off-topic, maybe... Michelle, the shoppe owner is also a catch - She is full of wisdom beyond her years, has an insanely kind soul and is one of the most creative, thoughtful individuals I've met in a very long time. read more

What can I say about this place besides PERFECTION!!!! Sweet and caring staff (sometimes we secretly go in just to chat with owner Michelle), awesome range of products, and wonderful environment. If you understand the labor that Michele and the Refill Shoppe have gone through to provide clean, green products, you'll know that the prices are exactly right. My favorite thing though, is that whenever you mix and match a scent, they write the recipe on a little card with your name. So now when I go in they already know exactly what I want my lotion to smell like, and the balance is always perfect.
