This place is mediocre at best. Our first lunch here was okay. Nothing incredible so we decided to go back for dinner. My mom and I ordered boiled shrimp for dinner. Y'all. They brought out stark white frozen shrimp with NO shell that they had sprinkled some Cajun seasoning on. An absolute joke. My husband had the duck and it was burnt. So we gave it two good tries and definitely won't be back. Service isn't bad but the food is lacking. Especially since they claim to be a Louisiana seafood restaurant. read more

The food was good and the view was great. Very nice place on the lake. There were two VERY LARGE groups of people who arrived just ahead of us but our waiter got our order in before theirs. Beautiful place on the water. Food is as spectacular as the scenery. I recommend the soft shell crabs and the bread pudding.

Put off coming here for a long time just due to the fact that it's out of the way for us, but that was a mistake. The food, ambiance, and service were great. First of all, we were seated by the fireplace, which I thought was a good idea at first, but the smoke and the smell started to nauseate me. Even one of the employees came by and said, "I couldn't sit here with that smell." We sat outside; then the waiter did not wait on us as much. I ordered their specialty, which was glazed duck and it was so tough, my husband had to hold it down with his fork while I tried to butcher it. We were driving through and decided to give them a try. Love the location, would have eaten outside if it had been a bit cooler. I had been hearing good things about this place for a while now. I was alone coming back from Houston and decided to drop in for lunch. Upon entering the place i was very impressive. Great views of the lake, lots of light, and vaulted cypress ceilings. I started with the marinated crab claws that were exceptional. I ordered the grilled shrimp platter with creamed spinach and house salad. Surprisingly when I asked what house dressing they had I was informed that they didn't have one. Strange. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, served with a very tasty dipping sauce and the spinach was really done well with the perfect amount of garlic. Remember I was alone so my service was as good as it gets. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Great place. I highly recommend. Make the effort to get here. You won't be disappointed. read more

We just happened upon this restaurant by accident, as it is quite out of the way. The atmosphere and look of the place scream Louisiana in all the right ways. The restaurant is on the water of Lake Arthur and the Cajun culture is appropriately and tastefully made part of the decor. The food was wonderful (for the most part) and the service was prompt and courteous. I highly suggest the duck and andouille gumbo. It has a dark roux and is perfectly seasoned. The alligator bites and Cajun bites were scrumptious as well. I had a wedge salad that left something to be desired. Their house made blue cheese dressing was spicy when I found that element to be unnecessary. Not everything needs to be Cajun. Other than that one slight oversight, this place was a win. The food was mediocre at best... We ordered the alligator bites, conch fritters, seafood platter, shrimp and okra gumbo and andouille and duck gumbo... It wasn't the worst I've eaten but not that good either... Shrimp gumbo was fishy, and duck gumbo was bitter... The platter looked like it was a lot but really wasn't that good and not really seasoned... My wife and I visited on August 8, 2015. We started with the Mermantau crab cakes as an appetizer, chocked full of crab meat and delightful. I had the Cajun prime rib, prepared medium rare. It was melt in your mouth delicious. My wife had the crab meat stuffed flounder, best way to describe it is sweet and tangy, cooked to perfection. Service was great, fast and very accommodating. My wife and I made a day trip over to Avery Island, LA. this past weekend (4th of July 2019). I had seen the website for the Regatta in Lake Arthur while searching for restraunt's in LakeCharles. I thought I would give it a shot and stop by there on our way home from the Tabasco manufacturing plant. I should have went with my instincts and ate at the Tabasco Restraunt. The wife ordered stuffed crab, onion rings and potato salad. I ordered cajun style prime rib, salad and waffle fries. First of all, I am not on a diet! The portions were very small. The stuffed crab was buttered out seasoned crab meat. (Nothing holding it together) They put it on top of these little crab shaped aluminum foil things. Three fork full portions on each. The onion rings looked and tasted to be frozen, out of the bag and they forgot to bring her potato salad. As for me, my salad consisted of iceberg lettuce, a single cherry tomato and a ton of dressing. The waffle fries were cold and the wife had to go find the waitress to change them out. Being from Crowley, La. I did not talk to many people who had eaten here. Those that had, only had goood things to say and were quite free with their recommendations from the menu. Our initial visit was certainly a memorable one. The food was superior, the service prompt and friendly and the resturant itself very very nice. The stuffed crab with grilled asparagus and red wine mushrooms was absolutely outstanding. Many from Crowley go to Lafayette and Abbeville for a special dining experience. Lake Arthur is much closer, with less traffic, and the Regatta with its drive up boat facilities, seaplane fly in capabilities and all weather indoor and outdoor dining with the panoramic view of beautiful Lake Arthur, this is a unique dining experience. My wife and I were skeptical after reading other reviews. Our experience was superb. My wife had the Bar B Q Quail I had the Catfish Pont Breaux with corn grits. Plenty of food and all great. We had a wonderful experience--food and ambiance--at the Regatta in Lake Arthur a few years ago. This time, after taking our guests to the Gator Chateau--a great place in Jennings--we drove to the Regatta for lunch. A bit surprised by the lack of customers, we were seated and placed our order. Other than the great service, I can sum up our experience as embarrassing and disappointing. We were embarrassed in front of our guests because after living in south Louisiana for more than 50 years and experiencing great examples of local cuisine in the region, this was without exception the worst representation of Louisiana food preparations. We were disappointed because we know it could and should have been much better. For example, we sent the crab claws back because they were fishy. I had the Flounder a la Cheniere du fond which appeared as if it had been prepared previously and then reheated. The fish was floating in oil, the dried out crab stuffing was laying on the fish and the minute amount of Vermouth Sauce was atop the "stuffing". The Cajun Bait was so dry and overcooked it was inedible. My son-in-law, who loves duck, ordered the Crispy Duck with Cane Syrup because the description implied it was indigenous to the region. He was kind enough not to comment, but only ate half of his entrée. My grandson loves beef fillet so we verified it was on the menu. At the restaurant we were informed they didn't have any. I could continue with other examples but I think I am making my point. We have mentioned this event to several of our friends only to find out they recently had similar experiences. read more

really wanted to go heard good things, we got in quick, staff at check in not friendly. location beautiful, waitress nice, but after taking my order she was gone and it was 2 or 3 other people , who brought each of us a half raw roll. no water. had to ask for dressing on my salad, had to ask for salt & pepper, ask for crackers for salad, ask for water, Never received the water or crackers, she question me as to if the salt and pepper was on the table as if I pocketed a plastic salt and pepper container. no one explained the menu, I stated we had never been in before. no one explain the lunch menu was available. the food I order is not what I ordered. It was not bad food just not what I order, after I told her it was not correct "she told me it was"... some one cam e to ask if the waitress was rude I agreed, she told the manager The manager never came by to help.. after 5 min of having the wrong food someone came around to see if I wanted something else I said well not now I want to eat with my husband not after him,, I the baked potatoes' I did ordered took the rest home in a box for who ever was hungry. my husband ask for my tea she took his glass.... when we left me in tears the manager nor the owner or anyone else spoke to me ask to help, nor ask if I enjoyed my meal and no one ask me too come back.. I do think it is a place I will tell my friends to visit and I will not and I will write reviews to warn other.... read more
