When my partner and I moved here with little furniture and a tight budget, we furnished almost our entire place with pieces from TRS at shockingly fair prices. Nearly three years later, everything has held up beautifully. These pieces aren't just furniture, they're treasures, crafted with care by local artisans who repurpose used items instead of letting them go to waste. The store was bright and open, perhaps a bit empty. Overall it was eclectic with a good mix of inventory. We did fine a piece of furniture. The female employee was not very outgoing or particularly friendly. She did not offer to help us with our purchase which I found odd. This has taken me a decade or maybe longer to give you a great rating on a table and chairs I bought THEN . . . It was a teak vintage 1970's modern table and 6 chairs in pristine condition and a teak buffet. I love them and they are still beautiful . . never had to refinish them even. What made me think of it because I saw the exact same chairs for sale for $399 a piece! Which is great cause that means the table has gone up in value! That doesn't happen with a lot of furniture styles today! So thanks! read more

I've been meaning to get to writing a review of the regeneration station for a couple of years and finally feel compelled to do so. First wanted to when I was taking a picture of a pile of televisions across the street from the backside of their business. I just take pics of this kind of stuff because it's the subject matter I find intriguing. Two members of the team came out of the back door almost instantly and asked me to please leave. I told what I was doing and tried to be considerate and asked if I could continue seeing as how I was on a public road and not anybody's property. They told me no and said that if I continued that they'd call the police. I continued. Took a couple more pictures and left. They took pictures of me and my car and pictures as a I left as well while one of them made a phone call. All the while mocking "you don't wanna hang out and wait I thought you didn't care?" Another time my mom was in town and we like to shop for unique furniture. They sometimes will have a winner but rarely with a decent price. $400 side tables aren't my thing. But they're fun to look at. So we went because its across from another place we had just left after looking at dogs and went here despite my not good attempt at hiding that I didn't want to. When I was going to meet up with my mom after shopping and she wanted me to come see something I walked past the register desk and was looking at something beside it when I overheard them talking poorly about a customers excitement that they had shown about something. They mimicked the persons voice and actions and one of them "Jesus...why do we attract these people". I remember it clearly because I wondered if it was my special needs daughter that they were talking about. Most recently and why I'm swearing them off is because my wife and I went (again looking to see what might be appealing while in the area) and I found a hat. It was in my price range and I'd been wanting a hat like it so I got it but wasn't sure if it might fall apart or anything since they're a second hand store. So I paid and the guy at the counter asked if I wanted my receipt. I was thinking I just spent $20+ and I reluctantly said "suuuuuurreeee...". The guy at the register looked at the guy behind him and then said "sure?" And I said yeah. He then said "are you suuuuuuure you ACTUALLY NEED it?" I said "yeah. I am."!- to which he said "well you don't sound like it". Finally I said "just give me the fucking receipt dude". As if it matters WHY. I said I want my receipt. It's your job to give it to me when I ask. This place sucks. They're expensive. They're rude. They don't care. Sadly they have the market cornered. They don't even pick stuff up for free last time I checked. Call the people that build houses for needy folks if you want that. I know this was based off of 3 experiences and was dumb enough to go back twice but sometimes my interest gets the best of me. I'll happily say no and stand outside if my mom ever wants to go back. This is your typical Antique Mall. All the booths are owned and stocked by different people, so the prices are all different. I really enjoy antique malls because they're the perfect in-between of bottom dollar picking and up-charged upscale "thrifting". Went to a downtown "thrift" store for a leather jacket, 495$, came here and found a verrry similar jacket, very good condition, top quality leather 50$. Would it have cheaper at goodwill? Yes. Did goodwill have what I was looking for? No. Also found top notch denim from 1960s-1980s. You can't find those anywhere anymore. Loved this place and will be back again next time I'm in town. read more

What a joke of an establishment this place is. I was in there looking around and I found a large Chinese vase. Purchased a vase for $160. It had a bunch of flowers and stuff in it which they told me didn't come with it so they took them out which was fine with me. The guy carried it to the car and we set it outside. I realized the whole top was broken, I couldn't see the break because of all these floral arrangement and weeds that were in the vase. I said oh no it's cracked and broken. He said well everything here is sold as is you should've inspected before you paid for it, sir. So I went back in and complain to management, they said the same thing so now I've got a broken piece of crap for $160. That is totally worthless. I broke it up and spread it around the garden. I do not suggest this place under any circumstances. This was not the only bad experience I've ever had here. I've just never left bad feedback. read more

One of many shops I visited in Asheville recently, The Regeneration Station sells a mix of new and vintage items with multiple stalls under one roof. In addition, they take donations of things you don't want and will repurpose them, whether it's reselling it, having someone take it for upcycling purposes, etc. The day I went was when they had a mini craft market inside some of the aisles for last minute holiday gifts. These sellers had a mix of edible, unique art pieces, and goods for sale and each of the vendors were present to answer questions. The regular stalls are easy to navigate and if you see something you like, you take it to the front register to pay for it. Some of the aisles in the center and far ends of the store can be a bit narrow, which was highlighted by the additional booths for the craft market, but people usually were respectful with letting others move through the aisles without too much issue. Parking can be a challenge here - there are spots where it's marked no parking on the opposite side of the street and there are some spots for loading heavy or large items only for a limited window of time. Make sure to check before parking and going inside. Also recommend to drive slowly as the road leading to the entrance of the store can be narrow, especially with cars of all sizes going into the area to park and those leaving. read more

Huge, with unfulfilled promise because of unfriendly staff. Never acknowledged, as we were at other thrifts, and workers inside were busy talking to each other. Pricey enough that's it's pushing the definition of thrift in our world and in comparison to others we've visited. read more

Highly recommended for its large, eclectic, and high-quality collection of second-hand furniture. The service, especially Forrest and Adam, were extremely helpful; they took time to show us where to find specific items in the store and also helped us load a few heavy pieces into our moving van and secure them. My wife told me to pickup a table there. I think what i did wrong was come by before 12:30? But the receipt only says to come after 12:30 if you need help. Which having the receipt shoved in your face and telling me to read it wasn't very helpful. If I was causing any trouble I could have swung back by later. I didn't ask for help and I didn't want ruin the worker's day. But, when people are passive aggressive you don't know what to do Makes me miss old Asheville, back when we had the Celtic Store on Wall Street. read more

Several years ago, my husband's coworker told him to get to TRS. From the coworker's statements about TRS, I envisioned a "Habitat for Humanity" type of place where faucets and lumber can be gleaned, and a giant workshop to make your own pieces. I was sorta close. TRS is basically an antique shop with tons of stalls for their vendors, industrial types of furnishings and modified ones, and a work area to the left, but only for the employees. It is crowded with wares. Everywhere you look, there is something to see. I started at the back right. That area is the Siberia of the vendor world. Some stalls were sparsely filled, while others focused on jars of buttons and lonely seashells. An ex-skater tried his best, while someone obsessed with outdoor decor brought inside made one wonder exactly how much outside space she indeed owned. One vendor tried to disguise his plethora of space by placing large coffee table books strategically. Back in the main warehouse is where the fun begins. I have never seen so many bizarre items under one roof. One vendor loved seventies rock. Another displayed toys from the mid-2000s. Some were inviting with their cozy living room look. Some had a bit of everything. My favorites were the stall dedicated to smoldering love and the quirky sci-fi stall. However, I could not afford anything. Even a vintage "Pound Puppy" could not be had. Mugs that reminded me of my Nana were shelved. I browsed the sci-fi paperbacks, turning the rack in desperation. Martians and rogue astronauts would not fill my cranium unless I handed over money that could be spent wisely elsewhere. Everything I looked at broke my heart, because nothing would grace my shelf. My attached photo of the paint-by-number golden retriever was something I really wanted for my husband, because it brought back childhood memories for him and me. (If I had stayed put after seeing his lifeless retriever that had been struck down by a car, I would have met him a couple seasons earlier and seen his older brother run down the street in just his underwear.) The upcycled pieces are fascinating. Some are just perfectly you, while others lose their vintage charm through transformation. Some you could make yourself with a little investigation. Some have to be left to the professionals, both the makers and the buyers. The bathroom is clean. It is on the outskirts, near BigItemsk. The employees do not greet you. That is important nowadays. Connecting with people makes a difference. Check it out, even if you can't check out. read more

But staff is friendly and competent, which I appreciate; selection is broad and diverse. One of those places you can pretty much find whatever you're looking for. I had a non-working wine fridge which the guys came out and picked up this morning. I cannot speak highly enough of them. Not only were they timely, they arrived early and communicated to me that they would be arriving early. Communication skills and professionalism?!?!? YES. I have mixed reviews about this place. For starters, not an employee to be found and the two at the cash register did not greet you as you walk in. I was expecting consignment, vintage, thrift, a little bit of everything. It was set up in booths, some booths were reasonably priced but most seemed outrageous. Unfortunately, vintage finds are very trendy right now and prices are spiked. But I was seeing furniture and pieces that you can find at Goodwill for less than $100 for $300+. Unreasonably priced trinkets, dinnerware, etc. Really took away from the experience. A lot of repurposed items- this really isn't my thing. I prefer original. Would have enjoyed seeing more local art booths. read more

There's some seriously fun vintage stuff here for less than some other places in town. It's a mixed bag, of course. We got very lucky with a round oak table with 5 leaves in very nice shape. It's perfect for our dining room. Round tables are hard to find and this one was by far the nicest we have seen. We felt the price was reasonable for the quality. Always worth a stop. read more

I really enjoy going to Regeneration Station (especially on Sundays when they have free local beer) to just walk around and "window" shop. The place is set up with a bunch of different booths with furniture, art, knick knacks, tools, etc. It's really fun to just imagine decorating with all the awesome stuff. BUT this place is way overpriced. I could never afford to buy things here (except mattresses). I did end up buying a new-to-me mattress here. The professionally clean the used mattresses before selling them for a totally reasonable price. I love my mattress! read more

I've been in twice so far and love it! I've owned small businesses in the past, and to me the very first impression is how you're greeted at the door. Ten stars for these guys. I got a beautiful welcome in. Next, I spent about an hour wandering the aisles and having fun seeing the super eclectic mixture. I felt that the prices were reasonable in general. A few people have mentioned that they are high here, but remember, you're not at a yard sale! Another pet peeve is stores that say "We don't have a bathroom". Of course they do - unless the employees wear diapers. These guys directed me to theirs - and it was even sparkly clean. I also loved the music, and lastly, when I forgot something at the counter (which by the way they threw in FREE, the sweet guy ran it out to my car. Having just moved into town, my husband and I are on a hunt for some new furniture. After a stop at a local niche furniture shop with prices a bit steep for us, we headed over to the Regeneration Station. I'd been following them on Facebook for awhile so I knew what to expect but my husband was going in for the first time unsure of what it was going to be like. First impressions, it's huge. There are so many cool booths. There was one that reminded us of the game Fallout. We ended up purchasing 2 pieces and delivery was a reasonable amount. The staff that helped us while we were there as well as the guys who delivered our purchases were fantastic. It looks like their stock changes enough to warrant going back every couple weeks for sure. If you're in the area and want a time killers or are on the hunt for something, this would make an excellent stop! A side note, there's a surcharge when you use your credit card, so I'd suggest bringing some cash just in case. read more

There is no doubt, this place has some fun pieces. Unfortunately I went there expecting to find furniture that was picked from a dumpster and items that I would be able to refurbish myself. Majority of the furniture (tables and couches) averaged about $200. This place is in a large warehouse and each booth is owned by a different person. Some booths had great homemade pieces, that seemed to be priced fairly, but some of the booths seemed very overpriced (a rusty chair for $40, a stained mattress for $99, and a couch that looked similar to something I saw for free on CL marked $200) I don't mean to rant, this place is very cool and I will definitely go back for some neat small treasures. They also had some awesome furniture pieces. There's a beautiful homemade wooden headboard, the booth with the industrial Edison lighting fixtures (was probably my favorite), and many more great pieces. All and all go there but don't expect to find cheap junk! read more

This place is fun to walk around. There are some great (and overpriced) things here. Shelves of them! I've never found anything worth the money, and once when I rushed over for a "free $10 gift certificate" they "forgot to mention it was for the 2-3 staff booths only" until I was at the cashier. Nice, large warehouse thrift mall, with both cheap and expensive items. Lots of furniture, which was what we wanted. The prices are somewhere between Craigslist and antique stores. Some mid-century stuff, some older - its a mixed bag. I got an industrial metal desk on casters for $50, and a few other industrial type things for my home office. Note: There's a 4% fee added to prices for using a credit card. Plenty of parking, dirt lot. Second Chances Thrift Store (brother wolf animal sanctuary) is across the street, so you can shop at both places and park once. read more

Lots and lots to see! This place has spaces to rent so there are many vendors with a variety of STUFF! We had fun walking through and conversations about all the items we saw. It's cold (no heat) so wear your outerwear. They have multiple bathrooms within the warehouse. It's dog friendly. Parking is limited (we had to park around the block and walk to the front). read more
