Update: I appreciated the customer service that followed. Accountability is so beautiful and refreshing! Original: I ordered their Pork Ramen and was excited to try their new menu. The menu says Pork Ramen comes with sliced pork, and also there is pork in the pictures they have used on the website. But when the order arrived, there was no pork. I called them and they confirmed that Pork Ramen is just pork broth without any pork. This was very disappointing and misleading. I had to add my own protein to the meal to eat it. I don't understand why they would charge $2 extra when this is just basically the Veggie Ramen, just with pork broth. I used to go here a lot but I don't think I'll go back. read more

I love this bar. Have not been here for a while as I have gone hermit. But 11/14/17 at 9:30 pm whomever the bartender is now at this moment is a rude person and doesn't understand that he is a bartender. His personal friends, (this is as I see it now and what is happening) are here. He poured my beer and walked off. Poured my bourbon and walked off. Never said hello nor seemed to give a shit that anyone besides his friends were there. I don't expect a lot when I drink at a bar except for a barkeep to smile and pour. Tonight this guy had no customer service or care at all. Seriously watch the tape and see how bad this guy tending bar was tonight and maybe just maybe it's why the place was empty. 9:45 now and he still hasn't tried to see if I would like food or another drink. I'm sorry to post this. But this was just not worth my money. I ordered a nachos grande to go. The portion was very generous. But seriously, I could have bought a bag of chips, melted some cheese on it (and I did supplement at home), open a can of black olives and a can of beans and throw it on. That is what it was. The only thing that had any prep were the tomato pieces, which were very good. Even the guacamole had no flavor. The service was great. I don't know what has happened, their food used to be so good. I went here after an event at Shea Theater on a Saturday night. Good live music, nice staff, beautiful looking food,good drinks and a very comfortable environment. Indoor and outdoor seating and the other guests all happened to be friendly too. Stopped in during a day out shopping and exploring. The only person working barely greeted us. Not busy. Appeared annoyed when we walked in. The Guavarita was delicious. The menu didn't reflect what I saw online so needless to say we shared one small app that included crostini and olives. The bread had a stale taste. ( yes I know it's supposed to be hard) but stale tasting none the less. No napkins, silverware, or small plates. We will not return. I only two star the drink. read more

We came to this area to hit up a couple of the local micro breweries and needed some grub in between stops. I checked out the menu online for a few places and this seemed right up my alley! Once there, it didn't disappoint. It was just before typical dinner time for a Saturday so it wasn't crowded and we grabbed a couple of seats at the end of the bar. Bartenders were very nice and attentive and quick to get us drinks. I had the Bahn Mi sandwich with Asian slaw and it was amazing! I liked that the jalapenos were on the side so you could add them or not (I always do lol). The bf had the BBQ cheddar burger with potato wedges which he also enjoyed. The locals that were also at the bar for dinner were very friendly and inquired where we were from. Definitely will be back here to try more on the menu... Unisex restroom was very clean and nicely decorated. Cool local art on the walls and a small outside patio with seating when the weather allows. We came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, it's a clean dive bar with great food. The reason there is such a low review is because the service was terrible. The waitress was also the bartender, there were only about 6 patrons in the whole place not including my party of 4. The bartender was preoccupied loudly talking to her two friends, to whom she shared, " I came to work with the flu and got the whole town sick" which definitely made us lose our appetites. We were not the only unhappy patrons with the service, someone at the bar ordered a beer and was ignored many times while the bartender/waitress was talking to her friends, or cleaning the mirror or decorating the cash register area. We waited 15mins for our water, which never came and I had to go to the bar and ask for it. Once we needed refills, we went to the bar and asked her for them and she said we could pour them our selfs from the pitcher... WOW... It was OBVIOUS she was not worried about service. I WOULD NOT recommend coming here if you want to have a good experience with service but I will say the food is great. read more

The Rendezvous has been less than good lately. The male servers are inattentive (we waited a long time just to be noticed for menus, and then longer to order our meals), and the seasonal menu for lunch and dinner right now (in Summer) is sub-optimal. The chicken tasted like it had been microwaved, and the fish tacos were like McDonald's meets plane food: lots of fried stuff and very little fish, very bland and mushy. Ick! The lunches are good (several paninis to choose from, which come with french fries, salad, or really AWESOME curried carrot kickshaw: a cole slaw of sorts with curried carrots and sultanas). The brunch is still fabulous (LOVE their veggie breakfast burritos!!!), with really good service from one of their female staff, Sarah who is attentive and considerate (often making us a fresh pot of decaf). But, the dinners are really sub-par. Clearly, they have ups and downs, and they're in a down period right now. When they're on, they're really great. And, when they're off, it's a disappointment, knowing how good they can be. read more

My favorite neighborhood bar by far. Hipster enough to make you feel like one of the cool kids, but aware enough of this fact that you can drop by on your way home from work (banker or farmer) without changing. The food is good if you think of it as a restaurant, and shockingly good if you think of it as a bar with food. THE GOOD: Came to this place with family and had a good BBQ Cheddar burger. Couldn't really taste the cheese, but I understand that Chedder Jack cheese sometimes does that. THE BAD: On a Friday night, there was a skeleton crew working here. The hostess was decent. The waitress? Not so much. She seemed really confused, nervous and stoned. She took our orders, and I thought she was going to die of fright. When she came later to ask how our meal was, only I heard her, and I said "good"... she still felt the need to yell it louder to get a response from everyone... the hell? Finally as she was cleaning up and the birthday crew (more on that in a minute) was adjusting their lights, she starts going off on how the lights are freaking her out or something..... seriously... lay off the pot. Then when I wanted to get the hell out of this place, it was woefully apparent that one waitress was not enough to handle this place, and most certainly not this waitress. THE UGLY: This place is the DEFINITION of a local watering hole. If that's your thing cheers. However, for a restaurant that feels they can get away with having one waitress on a Friday night, you can tell the size of the place. So, they rent the place out for some people to have a 50th birthday party there.... ummmm... I don't want to have anything to do with this, but due to the small confines of the place, it's basically thrust onto me. I have literally never felt so uncomfortable in my life, I couldn't wait to pay the check and get the hell out of there. I will never go back to this place. If however you the reader are interested, I would suggest doing your research ahead of time to make sure there's no events going on to upset your dining experience. If you are looking for a new local watering hole "where everybody knows your name", you may love this place. So, the first thing you need to know about this place is that it is basically a bar. The atmosphere has an authentically grunge feel. It's not dirty but not exactly clean either. It's a bit too forced hipster, not quite hitting the mark by trying too hard. There is some very cool artwork for sale on the walls which does help add a nice touch. The menu is impressive, with many of the options offered with a vegetarian substitute at no extra charge. The nachos were solid, offering a nice pico de gallo and fresh black beans; the homemade guac was okay but then, I'm a bit of a guac snob so others might be more appreciative. The veggie burger was absolutely delicious - the bit of panko breading to hold it together was a nice touch. The potato wedges were so yummy - I could have eaten just a plate of those. My dining companion had the tofu steak which was a really nice option - he liked it but I thought it was a bit bland. A die hard tofu lover will enjoy it but it's not for the occasional vegetarian. There were lots of other creative options that I would love to return to try. The drink menu, alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike, was rather extensive with creative options offered. The Rendezvous isn't exactly kid friendly. No kids menu with chicken fingers on it but many of the menu items are kid friendly and the staff certainly welcomed my kids. read more

In to meet a friend, and grab a lunch. Not hugely impressed. For one thing, the dive look (however allegedly intentional) doesn't fill me with enthusiasm. Tables and chairs seem as if they were obtained at bankruptcy auctions and tag sales (seriously, they probably were), and if the crowd was made up of 50-somethings in blue jeans drinking JD and boilermakers, no one would be claiming how "hip" it all looked. I appreciate clean places with furniture that doesn't look like it was saved from the dump heap. Looking over the menu, I see that a burger is $10. Never mind -- I can get them cheaper at the Black Cow Burger Bar, which *specializes* in such things. (Heck, I know hip taverns in CAMBRIDGE where I can get great cow for cheaper.) So I pop for a steak and cheese quesadilla, which sounds OK. Except what I get isn't anything of the sort: it's a steak-and-cheese mini-sandwich, between soft pieces of bread reminiscent of hot dog rolls, with onions grilled to sloppy-joe consistency. It doesn't taste BAD, but I'd really like a quesadilla if the menu purports to offer quesadillas, and if they'd rather serve me a steak-and-cheese sandwich, CALL it that. Pretty damn tiny for $7, too (it took me about three bites to finish it), although it came with some inoffensive potato wedges, however much they're about 2" long. I suppose part of the "hip" comes in serving the food on those 8" wide square white plates beloved of Food Network shows and tony Manhattan bistros. After that, we don't see the waitress again until we're visibly getting up to leave -- she spent just about all the rest of the time chatting with three people at the bar (it looked like she was doing double duty as barkeep). A glance around the room every now and then to see if anyone was trying to get her attention would've been nice. Sure, the lighting is dim but not too dim, it didn't take us long to get our food, I was waited on reasonably promptly when I arrived, and the music was louder than I'd prefer but not so loud as to be unable to carry on conversation. My friend reports that they don't hassle you for nursing a drink and a bite in the early afternoons, and she's wont to park there for the WiFi while doing school work ... her hometown, in rural western Massachusetts, isn't hooked up for Internet. (Other than us, at 2:30 PM on a Friday, there were a half-dozen other patrons.) Still, downtown Turners is full of taverns serving good food at reasonable prices. This experience doesn't provoke me to recommend the Rendezvous over other options. read more

I stumbled upon the Rendezvous on a Friday at about 7 p.m. Totally loved the atmosphere, very kitschy and cool. Almost a hipster feel, but a bit more laid back. The menu is fun, offering different sandwiches, microwave dinners, and even a bowl of Lucky Charms! I tried the steak sandwich, and the meat was tender and seasoned well. It came with a side of steak fries and aioli, and I left nothing on my plate. The bar menu is just as appealing, for both the beer drinker and the martini sampler. Lots of local beers on tap and interesting concoctions. The only reason that the "Voo" is lacking one star from my rating is that when 8:00 hit, a band starting playing wayyyy too loud. I noticed that when I stuck my fingers in my ears, they sounded pretty good. However, they had the speakers up so loud that I'm sure if you were driving in your car over the Connecticut River Bridge that you could have heard the singers voice clearly. I had the cheeky tart highball with sour cherrys which was good, they have a full drink menu with cocktails, local beers and wines. We stopped here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. Attentive and friendly staff, full drink menu, local beer, and fresh ingredients. I ordered the blackened fish chowder which was the soup of the day, and it was fantastic. There was very little fish in it, but they had told me they only had a bowl or so left, so I received the last of it. The flavors were bold and complex, with plenty of spice. If it had more fish, I would have put it in one of the best chowders I have had. I ordered the Bahn-mi Panini, which had grilled chicken, a Asian style slaw, and jalapenos on the side (which I gladly covered my sandwich). It was a generous sized portion of chicken, and filled with all fresh ingredients. Also the side salad was very fresh (no iceberg lettuce here) with a good mix which of local veggies. The white buffalo chicken Panini was a buffalo style grilled chicken, with blue and ricotta cheese, lettuce and tomato. It was just spicy enough, and very good favors, with the chicken cooked perfectly. We were very happy with our lunch, the service, and the atmosphere. It is a small, casual place, that has music events at night. We plan on coming back in the future to try dinner. read more

We stopped here for dinner after whitewater kayaking on the Deerfield river. We had the Gorgonzola flatbread which was absolutely yummy. I had the Meatloaf with Caribbean BBQ or something like that.....TASTY. Barbara had chorizo and roasted red pepper panini, which was good, but she wanted more red peppers in it. The music was cool, I found myself rapping to myself because the selection was a mix of sample songs used by Dre, Fresh Prince, Snoop, and other songs. Maybe skip it. But food is tasty, with great options for vegetarians and those who are just generally hard to please. I used to go to the 'vous all the time when I was going to photography school in Turners Falls. This place is the only decent bar in a 20+ mile radius. They have good food, and good drinks. While not cheaply priced, especially for being in a small town, they stay very busy on the weekends, and steady during the week. The atmosphere is quite pleasant and they have some really fun vintage pieces decorating the walls. It's cozy when it's cold out. READ: All winter. When the wi-fi is working it can be a great spot to get some work done on your laptop. Service is weak if the big lady is bartending. The other bartenders, however, are attentive and helpful. There are reasonable waits for a drink when the bar is slammed. The owner is chatty and helpful, despite his roots as a new yorker, and makes the experience even better. Rendezvous has been hosting a lot of shows and events. While they may not be the coolest things in the world, in a town like Turners anything at all seems noteworthy. Bottom line: Better than average bar in a below average town. Go give them some money. read more

Delish: Everything I ordered (I overordered for one person but wanted to try stuff) -Lamb Keftas (menu says three but actually four house-made lamb meatballs w. a crunchy panko crust. w. a cumin-&-mint sour cream): would be awesome to share but I ate all four! -- perfectly done, not too dry and not too brown and not too soft -Ethiopian Dal with bread (cup was actually a lot of food as very thick/hearty not like thinner Indian dals I've had) -Voo Steak Frites: (2 of our hand-trimmed 4oz sirloin strips w. our roasted root medley, roasted potatoes, & a crisp romaine, tomato, & parmesan salad) Nice! Very few places in Pioneer Valley area make a *decent priced* piece of beef, and it was all perfectly medium-well. Included salad was huge with tasty red wine vinaigrette. Included huge side of delicious roasted veg plus potato wedges. Obviously I had leftovers, which they packaged cheerfully. Could only do one drink, so tried cocktail new to me: red thing with whiskey, sour cherry, sweet something tart...a bit too sweet at my age:-) but fun. Looked like a pretty extensive selection of beverages. Bathroom: clean, but almost as important in my book, stylin without being too pretentious, a tough line to walk in the Valley of both aging hippie and hipster Gotta say I hesitated in the parking lot, looking in the side windows seeing only people at the bar in what did not appear to be a large place and being alone (not everyone appreciates a middle aged woman eating alone getting toward the time they need to turn tables), I looked up the menu on my phone and decided it needed a try -- so glad I did. And it's bigger than it looks, with a variety of seating arrangements. Good variety of art on the walls. Board games etc and sit down video game (Ms Pac Man?) Left well before any music started (schedule indicates music lots of times and karaoke others). Only odd thing: very low light in back third of seating area toward restrooms. Very.low. Totally mixed group of customers this Sunday before Christmas for 5pmish dinner, some at bar and some tables, some regulars, all ages but kids, though it looks like kids would be welcome. We decided to try this place on our way to a theater. It was mainly a bar but the food was good. I got a chicken panini with roasted veggie and Swiss cheese. It was tasty. I chose the potato wedges and it came with only 3 small wedges that weren't anything special. My daughter ordered the chicken bacon ranch pizza and she enjoyed it. Soda only comes with one free refill. It was an adult crowd. I wouldn't recommend bringing the kids. They have live music later on the evening. I would go again if in the area. read more

This place is great! I love the atmosphere in this place, the lighting is always spot on, the music selection is the same. I usually get the chorizo burger that's on the menu but I've recently been branching out in terms of what I pick here and let me just say that I have never been disappointed. I highly recommend this establishment, in the short time that I have been living in the area I've become somewhat of a regular here. I'd like to visit more often, however my minuscule eat-out budget will not allow it. Visited the restaurant on January 18, 2018. I was promptly greeted with a smile and hello. I ordered a Salmon Salad and a cup of clam chowder. The salad was generous, fresh and delicious. Clam chowder was scrumptious. My wife had the Wolfie's Hamburger that was tasty and huge. The staff was friendly and the service excellent. Looking forward to returning soon. read more
