I stopped in on a Wednesday early afternoon as a single diner. It was not busy. You order at the counter, pay and wait for your food. They serve it in to go wrapping and offer packets of condiments. I ordered the French Dip and an order of French fries. $16 + $8 so it's essential $25 for lunch. The sandwich contained a bit less beef than I would have expected for the price, as you can see in the photo. It came with a pint container of au jus for dipping. The sandwich was a bit greasy and fatty, not really a bad thing for umami, but a tad more greasy than I would have liked. The roll held up to the at jus. Excellent! The sandwich was dying for seasoning along with the au jus . Salt and pepper at minimum. It made a big difference. It was ok but bland. The French fries were a very large portion served in a paper bag ala Five Guys. You can tell they are trying to produce a good product. Sadly the fries had ZERO crisp and were limp and borderline soggy. I think they need to double fry if they continue to use the same cooking method. An almost good, but a miss. Here's my biggest issue. The menu is not conducive to eating solo. I tossed well over half of my fries, wasting food and money. They really should consider offering a side portion of fries with sandwiches that is half the current size at a reduced cost. It was enough of an issue to stop me from returning unless I go with other folks. I think they are trying. Reviews are good. Normally I'd come again and try something else. A few days ago they posted a photo of a chicken parm special sandwich that had looked phenomenal. But unless they adjust their menu to make portion choices more conducive for solo consumers, I won't return. read more

So Good! We were visiting Shellburne Falls for the day and happened upon this amazing restaurant! Everything was spotless and everyone was very friendly, especially the owner! Hubby had the Hot Mess and I had the French Dip! We also had the Fried pickles. The blackberry lemonade was over the top good! The meat in the sandwiches was extremely tender and flavorful! The only downfall??? We were only here for the day, and we live across the country in California. Which means we won't be back for a while! Don't miss this place! read more

This place does not disappoint. Walked in for lunch and the chef explained the process while cooking up a storm in front of us. We had the 12 for 12 wings, a Mediterranean chicken wrap and a Commander burger with fries. The warm of the sun shining through the window made this place very comfortable along with their staff. My wife and I have been visiting Shelburne Falls for nearly forty years. A lot has changed and one welcome addition is Hotfire Bar and Grill! We recently visited for the first time and we were not disappointed! They have a wonderful menu of sandwiches, burgers and wraps. I had the Cubano which was excellent! The Cubano is one of my favorite sandwiches and they do it right! My wife had the Chicken Caesar wrap which was really good! The chicken was nice and tender. We also had the fried pickles and the garlic parmesan fries which we great! To wash it all down, I had a local IPA and my wife had a raspberry Margarita. They have a great drink menu. The seating inside can get a little cramped, but everything is served in to-go containers. There are tables on the sidewalk and a pavilion across the street with picnic tables too. There is no table service, but the staff are very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be visiting Hotfire again and again! P.S. They have the BEST napkins!!! read more

Lately, after some initial concerns over pricing, I've been back to Hotfire several times now. They make really good burgers, and I wound up having lunch and dinner same day. Lunch was Commander burger, and dinner was tacos. Crunchy shell, well seasoned beef. Could use a leetle more beef. If I were politely critical, I suggest they consider a two sized option on their French fries. I hasten to add, the fries Are good. For us older folks past 70 however, eating that large a fries order might cause my blood type to morph into Ragu. Can't have that! An optional smaller size would be appreciated by more than just little ol' me. So, I'm on board with these guys now. The place is busy, right up to closing time 6:00 PM (1800). It is clean inside. Seating area well laid out. They have hired additional counter help - noticeable difference. Call ahead, and your order is ready by the time you get there. This a nice hole in the wall in the best sense of the word sandwich/salad restaurant . It looks new which given few on lien reviews is true. You order at the counter and there are a few two tops to sit and eat. There is a nice selection of Massachusetts and Vermont lagers and ales. We had the Cubano which declared as delicious even though no traditionaly served on a small baguette rather the the traditional bun or toast. Excellent. I had the Hotwire which is a slightly brown chicken breast that was superbly cooked, flavorful , juicy and tender (no small feat) on a toasted sourdough with roasted poblanos, Gouda cheese and a little bit of raspberry. It was perfect balance. Poblanos are not hot so don't be afraid to try this. This is one the best put together sandwich's with quality ingredients that have had in a very long time.
