Very authentic. Not the largest spread of food, but all A-ok, and not corndogs. The music? World class. The crowd? Super groovy, family friendly but not oppressively so. The "no alcohol" policy? Uh- not heavily enforced b/c there are NO DRUNKS! We get there for the hot air balloon show Sat, & always stay through the last gasp on Sunday. DO NOT MISS the dance tent in back: always a band you are glad to discover back there. Bring a cooler, and an umbrella and sunscreen and GET A PARKING PASS EARLY! (even tho there's a free shuttle to parking as of this year.)

Two food options were made, Hearty Monster Rice Balls, and Meat Pies. The rice balls were honestly pretty good, nothing fancy but good. The Meat Pies filling was good, but the entirety of it was pretty greasy and oily which was a little disappointing. I do hope they do another Zelda night and offer more food options. If they do that, we will definitely go again!

What a great place. Went on a busy Friday and the service was great! Even though he was busy, our waiter was friendly and attentive. The food was out of this world good. We started with a huge caesar salad and it was one of the best I've tasted. The burgers were big, juicy and done just to temperature and served with a spicy Curried Carrot Kickshaw that I devoured. I sampled my husband's Delmonico with Brandy sauce and it was terrific too. The drinks were great especially the drink special we had that was like a mint julep with fresh grapefruit. The wine, beer and alchohol lists were also extensive and interesting. To top it off they have a full schedule of great music and events. We will be checking out a show soon and when spring hits we definitely will enjoy their deck seating. read more

I'm just an average joe who wanted a beer and a bite. This *looked* like a nice divey bar, but I guess what I walked into was one of those fake "dives" that put on a grunge look so their college kid clientele can pretend. I got an overpriced warm beer and an overpriced tiny cold burger and high class restaurant service (meaning slow and surly). I'd be better off stopping at the neighborhood packy and Burger King. read more

12 fresh beers on tap many of them local. I had the weekend dinner special, the braised oxtail. It couldn't have been better. My wife had the Jamie Berger Burger, it was hands-down the best burger in the area. The liquor selection was also huge. I'm going back for a scotch soon. read more

Most offer mediocre lighting, poor insect traffic, and zero ambiance. Hope & Olive, however, continues to set the gold standard for frog fine dining. I arrived yesterday evening and secured a prime outdoor window-side table (vertical seating available for amphibian guests). The view was excellent, featuring lush greenery, attentive human patrons, and a climate-controlled observation deck. The appetizer selection was promising. Several small flying items passed through the area, but I decided to hold out for something more substantial. Excellent decision. Approximately midway through service, an enormous grasshopper practically launched itself onto a decorative hanging orb provided by management. I was immediately impressed by Hope & Olive's commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The entrée did put up a bit of a struggle. However, after a brief period of strategic positioning, professional stalking, and one lightning-fast procurement maneuver, I was able to enjoy the entire grasshopper. Portions are very generous. In fact, the meal was nearly as long as I am. Service was outstanding. The nearby humans appeared fascinated by my dining experience and refrained from interrupting me while I consumed an insect roughly the size of a canoe. After dinner, comfortably stuffed, I retired to the interior of the decorative orb for what can only be described as a food coma. It served as an excellent after-dinner lounge. As for the human food, judging from the smiles, laughter, and complete lack of attempts to steal my grasshopper, it appeared to be quite good as well. Pros: Farm-to-frog dining Excellent grasshopper acquisition opportunities Beautiful garden views Comfortable post-meal napping accommodations Curious but respectful human audience Cons: Grasshopper only appears once per evening Difficult to fit into your mouth, but that's a "me" problem Would hop here again.
