Chicken and Spinach Salad

When I saw the name, I thought this has to be good "Culinary Tavern." Nothing special on the menu. What I had was really good, tasty and cooked well. The wine list was pretty good as well. Service at the bar was pleasant. What this place really wants to be -- a sports bar. There must have been 15 large screen televisions showing various sports event. When the weeknight football game came on, it was blaring the broadcast. I mean loud. The Tavern was memorable, but not a very good experience.

The service was good as well as the ambiance. However our food was cold, everything appeared & tasted store bought and not freshly made, except for the eggs . We ordered stack waffles with eggs, bacon , oatmeal and hash browns. The mimosas with J.Rogét champagne was ok.

Our experience was 3 star, but the restaurant is better than this I assume. Food was good but not amazing. I'd give it a 3.5. The restaurant is beautiful and well decorated, I imagine as the owners saw it come together it was a cool process. Very well put together. Our server was friendly but likely new (I hope). Long waits for plates, table wasn't cleared, finally after walking by several times I waved him to us to order a dessert. He delivered the dessert but didn't clear the entree plates which was weird. We spent an extra 30 minutes here just waiting for service after we finished our entrees. Highlights were the street corn fritters and churros, unfortunately they were out of ice cream which would have really brought more to the churros. I will go back and expect the experience will be much better.

I had the pleasure of dining here this week. I cannot say enough great things about this restaurant. Excellent service, Stellar drinks, and delicious food. I recommend the blueberry lemon drop and the filet medallions. Best green beans ever!!

I wanted a good breakfast before heading out of Lubbock and saw the great reviews from other yelpers. The drinks were definitely delicious! I hate bloody Mary's - I try to like them but I just can't. My husband had one and idk what they do differently but it was amazing! The mimosas served with a bottle of Prosecco and frozen cubes of juice is brilliant! They were delicious!! 5 My waffle stack was great! I'm not a savory breakfast person but decided to try it and the nice surprise of the sugar in the waffles was awesome!! The only thing I would've liked to see to give it 5 stars was a few healthier options for those of us that had over indulged while visiting TTU for the weekend. But I would definitely go back! And the chairs at our table were beautiful and so comfortable!!! If you are ao inclito do me a huge favor and send me the information on them I'd be soooo stoked!!

Nice interior, upscale bar. Good service. The food is notch above bar fare. This is a bar first, restaurant second. The onion rings were great. Wings good if you like a dry rub finish. Would I return? Maybe for drinks and lite appetizer.

Was in Lubbock for the weekend , moving my daughter into her new apartment. Since we were spending daddy daughter time I wanted to take her to eat. We always go somewhere new when we come to visit her. This place is really nice on the inside and out. The hostess was very welcoming and sat us immediately. The waiter greeted us with cold waters and took our drink orders. Lemonade for her and Woodford Rye neat for me. The waiter gave us recommendations for food. She had the chicken tacos (lots of shredded cheese), I had two appetizers Nan w/ steak and prey bites with spicy cheese. Her tacos were great on flavor and a great portion of actual chicken. They could lighten up on the shredded cheeses. It also comes with cilantro lime rice and refried beans. The rice had a little too much lime flavor for her but the beans were good. The Nan was delicious with excellent flavor and steak very tender, the pretzel bites were lightly salted and very light and the cheese dip was well seasoned and tasty. We also had a slice of chocolate cream pie. That's was very light and not too sweet. It was very good (not like my aunts though) . Overall we had a great experience. The waiter was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed. I would definitely return.

Great food and ambiance, I suggest sitting in the bar area m. Ordered two drinks (Old Fashion). They take reservations. Looking forward to coming back and explore the menu. Cheers!

Had been there several times but the last time, the food was inferior. Everyone at table felt the same way. Hope they get it together.

This new…read moreplace not only boasts a shuffleboard, they have pool tables, a few arcade games, a gigantic stage (think Karaoke, Comedy and Music), LOTS of seating, good lighting, big screen wall-mounted TVs and we have not event talked about food or drinks yet. Listen up, this place is new (opened late Nov 2024) so they are still working out the kinks. I say this because there are two reviews on this place that mention negative things. IMHO I think thus far they are excelling and will only get better and better. We need to give them grace as they learn and grow. ***So please READ MY REVIEW and ignore the 1 stars.*** The food we ordered was tasty, affordable and came out quickly. Drinks for the entire table were on point. Shout out to Chet who will gladly curate a drink for you if you are not sure what you want. Oh and did I mention 237 is located inside? 237 is Speakeasy located inside of Soggy Dog (at this time 237 is open Thur-Sat nights). 237 has it's own vibe and drink menu. PRO TIP: Enter Soggy Dog through either of the double set of metal doors. Yes you are at the right place. I will take pictures of the entrance on my next visit.

The chips and queso were an appetizer but came out with the rest of the food. Queso was extremely burned so I asked for it to be removed from the ticket; instead, they replaced it with spicy broccoli cheese soup. Okra and fries were not cooked all the way through; seems hard to mess up food service frozen food, but here we are. The hot chicken sandwich was made with chicken so tough I couldn't cut it. The hot sauce was nice, the salsa was decent. My giant mug of beer was flat but at least it was cold. Overall: poor food, slow service. Was hoping for better.

As we were leaving our very special dinner date, we were driving through downtown Lubbock off Broadway when a place we had never seen before passed by the car window. In perfect unison and harmony, she and I said, "What place is that? Narrow Bar?" We had never seen it before. Was it new? Were we just blind all this time? Narrow Bar has been around. We truly have been blind all this time. Through my four years of college and then some, I had never heard of it. Tonight would change that. As I reached Avenue Q, we turned around to investigate. Narrow Bar is attached to the Wells Fargo building with, shockingly, a narrow indoor bar. The outside is what grabbed our attention: an expansive patio filled with a live music trio and young adults casually having a great time. Was this bar one of Lubbock's best-kept secrets? Having had a few drinks already, we agreed on a one-and-done experience to try this place out. We were handed an expansive drink menu listing four categories: classic cocktails, contemporary cocktails, signature cocktails, and mocktails. I immediately eyed one of my favorite cocktails, a Carajillo, while my girlfriend yearned for the IYKYK (a Porn Star Martini). Our server took our order, and it wasn't long before our drinks reached the table. My Carajillo came with one of those big ice cubes (an actual cube), which was awesome, and the drink itself was really well done. Their espresso cold brew gave it a strong coffee profile that wasn't as sharp as other Carajillos I've had, which I think benefited the drink, especially being mixed with the slightly citrusy Licor 43. As for my girlfriend, she was really excited for her martini and adored it, notably because it came with prosecco. The space is really nice on a cool Lubbock night as it faces the street of downtown Lubbock. The band playing was not a cheesy bar band but actually quite good, pulling some deeper tracks out of their hat, including "That Smell" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. The lead vocalist had this Steve Miller vocal inflection going on, so I requested any Steve Miller song, and we got the always enjoyable "Fly Like an Eagle." They had no tip jar sadly, but my hat goes off to you guys. It was a short experience, but a great impression enough to make us know we're coming back the next time I visit her in Lubbock.
