This is a decent enough place if you're in the area and out of better ideas, but it's nothing spectacular. I will give major props to the server, Mollie, and her manager for doing a phenomenal job resolving a minor issue with the order quickly, politely, and effectively. The atmosphere was fair with good music and humorous decor in the bathroom. The lights weren't for me, but others may like the statement. Where The Reserve was lacking was the food. The pepperoni pizza was pretty good, but again there are better options around town. It did taste like it had been prepared in a genuine brick oven. The tortellini was bland. The queso was good enough, but nothing to get excited about. The salsa was downright terrible. The chips were actually phenomenal. The margarita made no attempt to cover up the strong taste of tequila. The Chilton tasted like club soda and not much else. Lastly, some of the surprise fees made me feel like I was booking air travel or paying a wireless bill rather than getting a nice meal. The final charge was a few dollars more than what was shown on the ticket. I assumed this was probably due to a service charge for paying with a card, although I didn't see it with a quick glance at the receipt. In all fairness, I'm sure this was disclosed somewhere and I overlooked it. I have come to accept this as the way of the world now. Also, when we ordered the chips and queso, we were asked if we wanted salsa with it. We accepted the salsa with the assumption that it was complimentary. Granted, since we were asked, I should have assumed that there was a charge for it. The charge was reasonable, although wasted because the salsa was so terrible. I did receive approximately a 5% discount for the order mix-up, and I actually ended up with a free pizza as well. The service and attentiveness were truly exemplary. I would give this place a second chance if I were in the area, but I certainly will not go out of my way for it. read more

Went here hoping for a nice brunch for Mother's Day. The atmosphere is great, but the food is definitely lacking. Brunch portions are small for the price, and some of the food is just weird (not in gourmet/creative food kind of way). They did nothing to make the plate more eye appealing. Our experience was 3 star, but the restaurant is better than this I assume. Food was good but not amazing. I'd give it a 3.5. The restaurant is beautiful and well decorated, I imagine as the owners saw it come together it was a cool process. Very well put together. Our server was friendly but likely new (I hope). Long waits for plates, table wasn't cleared, finally after walking by several times I waved him to us to order a dessert. He delivered the dessert but didn't clear the entree plates which was weird. We spent an extra 30 minutes here just waiting for service after we finished our entrees. Highlights were the street corn fritters and churros, unfortunately they were out of ice cream which would have really brought more to the churros. Always a fun place to go! My family has met here many times in the past year and a half. We have enjoyed it every time! The food is great! My husband and brothers in law have enjoyed the chicken fried bacon. When they do not have it as an appetizer, it can usually be found on a burger. Was in Lubbock for the weekend , moving my daughter into her new apartment. Since we were spending daddy daughter time I wanted to take her to eat. We always go somewhere new when we come to visit her. This place is really nice on the inside and out. The hostess was very welcoming and sat us immediately. The waiter greeted us with cold waters and took our drink orders. Lemonade for her and Woodford Rye neat for me. The waiter gave us recommendations for food. She had the chicken tacos (lots of shredded cheese), I had two appetizers Nan w/ steak and prey bites with spicy cheese. Her tacos were great on flavor and a great portion of actual chicken. They could lighten up on the shredded cheeses. It also comes with cilantro lime rice and refried beans. The rice had a little too much lime flavor for her but the beans were good. The Nan was delicious with excellent flavor and steak very tender, the pretzel bites were lightly salted and very light and the cheese dip was well seasoned and tasty. We also had a slice of chocolate cream pie. That's was very light and not too sweet. It was very good (not like my aunts though) . Overall we had a great experience. This is typically our go to place on the weekends. Today they had a special Valentine's menu and it did not meet expectations. The server was not aware of the items on the special menu, as when we asked questions, he was unsure. For our appetizer, we ordered the coconut shrimp and it came out completely raw. Overall, entrees (filet and stuffed chicken), desserts (cheesecake and red velvet pie) and drinks were good. I think they really messed up offering a special menu that the employees did not get to try first when they could have just slimed down the menu that they already have and is always good. read more

They call this is a "tavern." It is a bar with bar food and some of Lubbock's roughest. We were there for late brunch on June 1. Two raucous groups at the bar controlled the entire atmosphere. The food was delicious - absolutely fantastic fries, the burger was cooked perfectly. The martini was awesome too, will be having it again for sure. Our waitress, Bailey, was super friendly and nice. My husband and I did like The Reserve for a night alone, without family. We waited to be seated as instructed. The girl took the couple ahead of us and returned to the hostess stand. Two women walked in after us and a young man walked up to the stand and spoke to the hostess. They both looked at my husband and I, more words, then he walked off. The girl picked up two menus, asked the couple behind us how many were in their party? She then proceeded to escort the couple that came in after us to their table. Traveling through Lubbock, a place I lived years ago. A lot of my old favorite spots were not holding up on Yelp so decided to try something new; this was it. I went on a Thursday night, and there was a pretty busy crowd. Even so, I'd expect that someone would be at the door to help seat the line that had been forming before I arrived hoping to sit at an open table (of which there were plenty). After an uncomfortably long wait a hostess arrived and sat the first group. After seating the group, she disappeared again for at least another five minutes. I get you're busy, but just sayin': someone needs to man the door. Service was fair, they were out of the first two beer selections I asked for, and after asking for some pepper with my steak salad (should be on the table at this point), I waited another 5 to 7 minutes before the server came by to ask if everything was OK, at which point I asked for pepper again. What keeps this at a 4-star (more like 3.5) is the food was really good. Pickle brined chicken wings were outstanding, and the Black & Blue Steak Tip salad was excellent. I'd go back if I was in town, but would hope the service was improved. read more

Now the bad, made a reservation the day before and requested to be at a table away from the front door, when arrived the manager stone faced said no, and pointed to a table almost next to the door. I ordered the street tacos, 2 to an order but I requested to have one pork one chicken instead of having two of the same meat. The waitress asked the manager if she could do that, and he said no. Received the bill and there was a 3% additional charge for credit card use. Want to irritate a customer? Charge for a normal business expense. Wife and I yelped this place. We have been in lubbock off and on for 30 years so we know the food and locations well. Hadn't been to this place before. We both liked the portion size of the plates (not too huge!). The filet medallion's I had were good. I asked for medium rare and they came medium to well done. Other than that the flavor was good. Wife's salmon plate was good she really enjoyed it. Loved the atmosphere. We'll come again. read more
