Bilbo literally takes you away to the Southof France! It's so beautifully appointed, and everything is maintained to perfection. I love the passion of everyone that works there, they create such an incredible atmosphere. Everyone there is having such a fun time, from large groups, to couples on dates to families, it just feels so good to be there! The beauty of the Marina, especially at night seeing all the mega yachts lit up, absolutely stunning. Everyone is dressed very well, and they require it upon entry, which I love! The food was very good, great quality, and served with care. The bar is an absolute vibe and once everyone is done eating, everyone goes over drinks, dances & has fun, laughing singing... it really just makes you feel like you are in Europe! It was such a fun place to celebrate my birthday, I can't wait to go back! Had an incredible experience and it's in such a great location right on the Marina in Sag Harbor. Yes, Le Bilboquet at this location is racist. I parked the car, the rest of my party of 8 was seated, we had a reservation. While waiting to enter I watched them openly discriminate. It's not the random actions of the host/hostess at the front. It's a restaurant management policy- let's make that clear. I wanted to leave but my party was waiting on me. When I walked to my party, I could see the results of the curated discrimination in the restaurant. Since my party was already seated and ordered (including my meal), I stayed. Others may state that "it was fine for me" and leave a glowing 5 star review, placing a nice piece of fish above discrimination, and that tells you more than my 1 star review based on how this restaurant treats others. The food was "ok" by the way, but the discrimination leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Hamptons or not, I look forward to these racist establishments falling out of favor or, changing their ways. If you like discrimination, pastels, and seafood, then this is the place for you. read more

I went here this past weekend for dinner with two friends (party of 3) to celebrate a friend's birthday, and unfortunately, the entire experience was horrible -- from the food to the service. When I arrived, I pulled my server aside and explained that we were celebrating a birthday. I asked if they could surprise my friend with a cake at the end of dinner -- a cake that I had personally brought with me. She was completely on board, and that was honestly the only pleasant interaction I had with the staff all night. Then came the food. Ceviche: Very average. Nothing particularly bad, but definitely nothing worth going out of your way for. Heirloom tomato salad: Calling these "heirloom tomatoes" feels extremely misleading. They were essentially regular tomatoes with salt, pepper, olive oil, and a lemon sitting on top of some lettuce. Extremely subpar and not remotely what I expected. Bread basket: Probably the most enjoyable thing we ordered. Ironically, when we asked about the size, we were told it was small and were basically encouraged to order more if we wanted to share. That was absolutely unnecessary -- there was more than enough for three people to share as an appetizer. Cajun chicken: Edible, but nothing memorable whatsoever. The portion was reasonable for $43, but we ended up leaving more than 2/3 of it behind because it was just so mediocre. Burger & fries: Again, nothing worth going out of your way for. Extremely underwhelming. 2/5. Vegetarian pizza: Easily the worst thing we ordered and possibly one of the worst things I have ever spent money on. Every single person at the table took maybe half a bite before we gave up and threw the rest away. It was served on what tasted like a bland pancake with a weak mushroom salad on top. I genuinely would not eat this again even if I were starving. At this point, you might think my opinion of the food was harsher because the service had already put me in a bad mood. Fair enough -- but I can confidently say that even if the service had been top-tier, I still would not want to dine here again. And then the birthday "surprise" happened. After we had finished dinner and paid our $300 bill, I had left a $100 tip because I was genuinely hoping the cake would at least make the evening special for my friend. After the bill was paid, the server told us, "Just a moment, there's one more thing." So we sat there waiting, excited for the birthday surprise. And waited. And waited. I am not exaggerating when I say we sat there for approximately 15 minutes after paying, with our table already cleared, without rushing anyone or making a fuss. Then a short man walked over toward another table carrying a cake. He looked over at us and said, "The cake is coming soon," with an annoyed look on his face. First of all, I had specifically explained that this was supposed to be a surprise birthday cake. Why would you announce that there was a cake coming? Secondly, why the attitude? We had been sitting there patiently for 15 minutes AFTER PAYING. We waited another 5-10 minutes before a server finally came over with the cake I had brought in the bag I brought it in. They did not bring the cake out properly. They did not put it on a plate. They did not light the candles I had specifically provided. They essentially handed me the cake in a paper bag and told us to have a good night. I honestly couldn't believe it. At this point I was so frustrated I could have cried. I took the cake out myself so I could at least salvage the birthday surprise, only to discover that they had opened the cake and put it back in the box. And the custom candles I had specifically asked them to put on the cake were nowhere to be found. What kind of birthday service is this? The food was mediocre at best, the service was frustrating, and the way they handled something as simple as a birthday cake was genuinely baffling. I came here wanting to celebrate my friend and left feeling embarrassed that I had chosen this place. I really wish I had read the other reviews before coming. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration and choose somewhere else. read more

The food here was very good. We got a burger and the chicken- both were very good, they were presented very well and both cooked the way we wanted. A few hiccups were when we ordered our ceaser salad, it came with crutons after we asked for no crutons, our waiter started with very good service- attentive, respectful, etc but as our night went on the service started to decline. I felt like they were rushing us out and when we tried to order dessert it took them a very long time to give us the dessert menus and order. We ended up ordering and asking for the check at the same time. The overall vibe of the restaurant is very nice, the inside is gorgeous and the outside seating is very pretty. We had a noon reservation for two and were seated immediately at a lovely waterfront table. The service was excellent from start to finish--friendly and attentive. They did charge for water, but the food made up for it. The chicken pilard was outstanding, and the truffle pasta was rich and delicious. The ambiance at this restaurant is absolutely stunning, making it worth a visit just for the atmosphere alone. From the moment we walked in, the host greeted us warmly and was exceptionally friendly. While the food itself is fairly average and a bit pricey for what it is, the setting truly enhances the overall experience. We didn't try any drinks, but they looked great. We ordered a lobster salad, which was just okay, and a Wagyu burger with fries--the fries were definitely the highlight of the meal. We also had espresso, which was good, and finished with two scoops of sorbet. I would definitely come back, but more so to sit outside, enjoy some appetizers, and have a drink. read more

I went with my friends two days ago. (2 guys, 2 girls), the hostess welcomed us and we say 4 people. She then says the guys can not enter because they have shorts. Okay, no problem. We leave. Then we come back, literally 2 minutes later (just me and my girl friend) we see the hostess and ask her if we can go in now, to which she points to her manager who was sitting people before us. He lets TWO people go in and then 6 people (all white) randomly follow them inside one by one, and each tell him: we're with him...we're with him...we're with him... And the manager looked confused since he didn't know how many were in that party but still let them in. Now me n my friend go up to him and say two people and he says you can't go in without a reservation. (Did not even ask if we had one) (Maybe we should've said we were with all the people who walked in) We ask to stand by the bar and he says not without a reservation..okay..n then he adds with a little sass "what do you want me to do, it's the weekend " so we left. Everything would've been great if he had been polite about the situation. If we were told from the start, a reservation was required and that it was not just because our friends had shorts. It all just made their reasoning for not letting us in a bit sketchy if you get my drift. Would've loved to just look at the inside of the place and maybe then we would come back another day but not with the way it all went down. I love this restaurant. The low reviews are usually because people don't get seated outside or they try to walk in and get turned away or they think it's overpriced. This is the Hamptons, it's one of the only restaurants with a water view and the food is pretty good so you're paying for all of that. I never write reviews, but hours after dining at Le Bilboquet, I am still furious by my experience. I made a reservation on Resy. My fault for not reading the fine print, but I did arrive at the restaurant for my 5:45pm reservation on a Wednesday, with my family, to sit outside on a dock as it was 95 degrees, dressed appropriately, but was turned away because I was wearing shorts. Given that we drove 30-minutes to dine here, I found myself wondering the streets of Sag Harbor looking for a store to buy a pair of pants. Yes, this is as stupid as it sounds. As I finally made it to the table, without a drink menu presented, I ordered an iced tea. When I finished it, the server asked if I wanted another. This happened another 2-3xs, given how hot it was. When the bill came, I couldn't help but notice that the cost of an iced team was $10. Yes, $10. This wasn't a magical iced tea, or from a special tea leaf. It was literally your standard brewed tea. Well, I paid $30 for iced tea and the response from the waiter was, "sorry, they raised the prices". The food, service and ambiance was great. Can't take that away from them. But as for ever going back or recommending it any anyone, I'd for sure give them a heads-up. And I would NEVER go back due the sheer arrogance of this restaurants leadership. read more

I had an amazing experience here. I'm not sure what all the reviews are speaking about. But I feel like a lot of them didn't read the dress code that was prominently displayed on their site and when you make a reservation. When we arrived, they were able to sit us early and the hostess and host were very nice. The service was great. We had the shrimp cocktail and the salmon special for an app then we both had the Cajun chicken which was excellent. We also got the creme brûlé special dessert. We moved to the bar after for cocktails and the people watching was great. The bartenders were great as well. Mind you it is the weekend after Labor Day so we might have missed the craziness, but I definitely would go back. read more

Always marvelous for luncheon. It's nice to sit outside right on the water with a view of the boats. I find the staff here to be very kind and accommodating, never pretentious or pushy. I'm always offered coffee and never rushed with my bill. I most recently ordered the ratatouille. I was blown away! It's just how I make it myself at home, and I am very discerning in the kitchen. Not gonna lie, I was quite terrified to come here after reading the reviews of the host and the dress code. That however was not my experience at all. We arrived for a reservation for 3 promptly at 6:45 the Thursday before MDW. We expected it to be madness, but it was quite open and lowkey. The host was very kind in greeting us and asked for our preference of indoor/outdoor. We opted for indoor because we knew it would get a little chilly once the sun set, but outdoor seating looked beautiful. Our waiter was fantastic. He explained the specials perfectly and gave us ample time to decide on things. Even the additional serving staff ensured that our waters were always full and our meals were always seasoned with fresh pepper. Now, onto the food and drink: -Dama Nuestra (or whatever the spicy tequila drink was called): we enjoyed, as this is our spirit of choice, but the mix was definitely mass pre-made and room temp despite the giant ice cube inside -Bread Basket: fine, standard, nothing to write home about, could've skipped -Le Tartare de Thon (Tuna Tartare): underwhelming, lacking flavor -Calamari: SHOW STOPPER, we loved the grilled calamari -Branzino: wonderful with perfectly seasoned and cooked broccolini -Le Poulet Cajun: also amazing flavor and texture AND a lot of food, the fries were fantastic as well -Scallops: delicious, came with 3 (could've used a 4th) but great flavor All in all, YES this place is expensive, and YES some of the clientele/fellow diners can make you question your outfit choice and wallet size (place is frequently dined by celebrities, so be cool), but the food IS GOOD and us commoners were treated with nothing but respect. We ate here mid September 2024. We just wandered in while walking around Sag Harbor...didn't know anything about this restaurant. Beautiful place with a fantastic view of the yacht harbor. They are a bit too critical of attire. At lunch time tourists abound and the vast majority are dressed casually. We have traveled all 7 continents of the world and this Maitre' D nearly tops the list of being overly snooty looking people up and down....we saw him do that to everyone as they entered the restaurant. Oh I wish we had read the reviews before we went for dinner. Yes, the food was definitely prepared the night before and even then it was served cold. Tasty - I don't think so. Fish dry and tasteless. I'm fairly certain the vegetables were canned from the supermarket. They certainly tasted that way. There was a bouncer at the door - and we had to wait after our reservation time. Lots of arguing about dress code and getting in to the bar. Now the bar scene was interesting for about 10 seconds. The usual Hamptons tourists, a lot of old men and then escorts and an abundance of plastic everywhere. The moment our plates were cleared and we said no to desert, we were asked to leave. Very politely Here was a first ... there was a line to exit. Literally it took 5 minutes to leave - after that meal and the service it felt like an hour. So I guess people go there to look and be in the scene and based on the reviews the management doesn't care that their restaurant stinks cause they stay busy. Le Bilboquet gets 5 stars for service and the atmosphere but the food fell short. We made a reservation and were seated right away near the window with a great view of the dock and the boats. It is a great place for a sunset. The staff was extremely attentive and everyone was able to answer questions/grab more drinks etc. (Not just our own waitress). The apps were good. We had mussels and the tomato salad. The mussels were a huge portion because it normally comes as an entree. We had salmon, lamb chops and the Branzino for 2 as mains. Everything was good but not out of this world. Unfortunately the Branzino was fishy and lacked any flavor. It comes out as a full fish and then it is filleted at the table. They could use a some seasoning or sear on the Branzino bc it was very bland. Otherwise we enjoyed our meal. For the price though, the mains need to be better. We will be back but probably only for apps and drinks. read more
