Chris, our server, was fantastic! The rest followed After a proper and pleasant welcome, when we entered Mavericks, we were escorted to our table, which had an amazing view of Fort Pond Bay facing west which provides incredible sunsets. We were then properly greeted at our table with water options which we chose flat bottled and drinks were ordered. Chris then introduced himself, and we knew right away that he was going to personally make sure our night was perfect in every way. A great personality and very experienced server here in Montauk this summer to delight everyone. We have Atlanta, GA in the house this summer. Chris answered all our questions about the menu in great detail, making our choices easy to make. We indulged in the raw bar options and salads first with our drinks, which were perfect. The bread was light, warm, and Soft. I'm a big ribeye person, so I went for the tomahawk option, which was the real deal. It was cooked to perfection and had that wonderful marbling you expect. All the other choices were just as satisfying, both in taste and presentation. Chris had the perfect eyeful watch on our table and was always always there for us. Chris loves what he does which makes the atmosphere even more enjoyable. The GM and Staff were focused on making sure everything exceeded our expectations throughout. For those who aren't familiar with Montauk, it's a very short season for all the restaurants on the East End of the Island, and very difficult for them to survive past the 90-day season of tourists. Mavericks's prices are astronomical, but our experience was decidedly down to earth. Reserved a few weeks ahead requesting a sunset view table for a birthday celebration, but was given a small table with no view instead, just a few inches from our neighbors. Our server Shiljo acknowledged the birthday with a glass of bubbly, and he was friendly and helpful throughout the meal. My "Verdant Vesper" cocktail was fresh, a pretty green and tasty. Grilled oysters with kimchee were delicious but a paltry portion. Unfortunately our entrees fell flat. Why oh why would anyone obscure the sweet natural taste of fresh lobster with a very spicy thick red sauce, as the Chef did in his version of lobster radiatori? I'm fine with some judiciously used spice, but not when the star of the show is obscured. Partner's strip steak was a thick slab of bland beef, fairly tender but utterly lacking in taste/texture/marbling as prime meat should have. Creamed spinach side arrived with a large round marrow bone stuck in the middle of the bowl, a black spoon weirdly protruding from its center. The white gooey marrow wasn't cooked enough, so overall an unappetizing presentation. Cheesecake with a small dab of preserves was tasty and light. An interesting $$$$ experience, not one I'd necessarily care to repeat. Maybe I'm just not the intended audience for this particular culinary performance, and that's OK. read more

Wow, this place is terrible. So many reviews say the food is awful... I told my friends... they still wanted to go... all regretted it. I think it's built for people who get bedazzled by fancy surroundings, have unlimited money, and zero palate for food. I say this without exaggeration - I'm not a fancy person and not a pro chef, and I wouldn't have served a single dish we got here at my home to a guest, or myself, for a random weekday meal. The thought would've gone through my mind... "wow, this is really bad, I can't eat/serve this, let me try it again". How this food gets the okay from the chef, manager, and owner, is mind blowing. Roasted mushrooms - swimming in oil and tasteless Potato gratin - this is one of the worst dishes I've ever had... from top to bottom, every aspect couldn't have been worse Lobster cavatelli - a few small pieces of lobster in a sauce that tastes like one you can buy at the IGA Short rib - overcooked and tough... nobody wanted more than a couple of bites so we took it to go and fed it to our friend's dog... not joking. Price - yeah, it's absurd. But it's absurd for a summer in Montauk, which is saying something. You can get food that's actually edible at other restaurants in Montauk. My best friend and I had a 7:30 reservation on August 19th, 2025. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with stunning views, but unfortunately the service and food did not live up to expectations. Upon arrival, we waited at the reservation desk while the staff tried to resolve a computer system failure. Before even being seated, we were asked whether we'd be paying by cash or credit--which was asked again after we'd already been at the table for 10 minutes. It felt uncomfortable and set the wrong tone for the evening. Our waiter was pleasant but lacked knowledge about the menu, wines, and cocktails. At a restaurant of this caliber, I expect staff to be well-trained. For example, when ordering an Old Fashioned, the waiter didn't know how it was made; my friend assumed it would be with bourbon, but it was made with rye. I ordered a margarita specifically with Herradura Reposado, but it was made with blanco instead--and I was still charged for reposado. I let it go to avoid making the night more awkward for my friend, but it was disappointing. The food also missed the mark. Our Caesar salad was overdressed and far too salty. My gnocchi with chanterelles was gritty from not being cleaned properly, and though the menu mentioned black truffles, I was told they used truffle oil instead--yet there was no truffle flavor at all. For $42, I would expect shaved truffles, not an oily substitute. My friend's steak was cooked well but lacked even basic seasoning of salt and pepper. At these prices, I expect precision, care, and consistency in both service and the kitchen. Sadly, we received none of that. Just....WOW. This was my first experience at Mavericks and it was absolutely incredible. First, let me say how great it was to have so many N/A drink options! The mocktails were killer! The food was out of this world. The apps were amazing, with my favorite being the tuna tartare. As for the entrees, I have never been a fan of swordfish, but my friend convinced me to try it and OH MY GOODNESS. It was delicious. The NY Strip was cooked PERFECTLY and the Amagansett Potato Gratin was my favorite! As for deserts....don't sleep on the key lime pie or the cheesecake. This is their sophomore season and they specialize in steaks We begin our meals with the Parker House Rolls, which are made in-house by their pastry chef! You MUST get, they're delicious! We also loved the Caesar salad It had a nice lemon flavored to it Their secret menu item is a gourmet burger made with ribeye fillet and New York strip meat and it is TO DIE FOR!! Seriously it is so good! It comes with Gruyère cheese and caramelized onions on a homemade Parker House roll. This is not on the menu, so be sure to ask your server about it. Come first serve to get in order to have one because it is the best burger we've ever had!! The lobster pasta was amazing. It is served with a spicy tomato basil sauce and the cavatelli is cooked to perfection! We all loved this dish. It's definitely one of the better pasta dishes we've ever had. If you are a lobster fan, this is for you! All the desserts made in house as well! You MUST GET the pecan pie, it was out of this world!! The crunchy pecans mixed with the warm pie and vanilla ice cream on top with a great combo and our favorite dessert! It was worth the wait! Mavericks opened last year and, bc my summer home is in Bridgehampton, i never got organized to arrange for the drive haha. FINALLY made it happen while on a staycation in Montauk with my partner Will for our one year anniversary. We had an 8PM reservation and were shown to an amazing corner banquette table with a spectacular lake view! We were greeted promptly and ordered a pair of martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives. We opted to splurge for our anniversary and went for broke with the caviar service ($170 for an oz so pricey) and the special boneless T bone for dinner with a side of cream corn. The knives presentation was a highlight haha! The caviar was luscious, the Bellini's hot, the steak perfectly cooked. We only had the two courses and it was enough for 2. We paired our main with a lovely Chablis by the glass. The room is BEAUTIFUL, live music, a great vibe and walls of windows so the view takes center stage. We enjoyed a nightcap on the terrace after dinner to make our night perfect. The staff - EVERY MEMBER: from hostess, to bus staff, to server and food runner to my dear friend Nick, the GM- was sheer PERFECTION! We had a variety of steaks, fish and salads. One member of our party wanted a ceasars salad the only way to execute this was by ordering a full roast chicken dinner along with the salad. They couldnt do a chicken breast and upcharge us for that. Our waitstaff while pleasant and conversational was a bit low rent for what I would expect from a restaurant that ended up costing $155 per person for dinner. Keep in mind we only had mains, a few sides, no apps and only 3 drinks among us. Lastly, they had the nerve to put their bread on the menu as some special buns that they would charge $10 for. Really? $2.50 per roll when we are ordering entrees that range from $55-$129 plus sides.. Good thing we are only here for a week and don't have to really think about coming back. read more

My husband and I had dinner last night. I ordered a bottle of Bandol rosé from the server. The sommelier presented the bottle to my husband instead of me. My husband just nodded. I didn't see it. The sommelier opened the wine away from the table, brought it to pour and it was red wine not rosé. If he had presented the bottle to me I would have caught the mistake. I was offered a glass of rosé on the house. Which then appeared on the bill. We ordered shrimp cocktail and crab claws arrived. The server brought the shrimp later and said the crab claws were on the house. Which was good because they were tasteless. We ordered chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream from the dessert menu - it arrived without the ice cream. Your restaurant is very beautiful and the prices are very steep. $452 for 2. We made a reservation in advance, which I would recommend as the restaurant is quite popular. The food was interesting and creative. We started with the bread appetizer. For our mains, we had the lobster pasta, the tuna, and the steak. The lobster pasta was creamy and flavorful, the tuna was cooked perfectly, and the steak was juicy and tender. We shared one bottle of wine, which was a good choice for us. The staff was very attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed. They even cut the tuna and steak for us so it was easy to share. Overall, we had a great dining experience at Mavericks. The food was delicious, the views were stunning, and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special night out in Montauk. I was super excited about going for dinner here, but was unfortunately extremely disappointed by how our party was treated by the hosts and managers. Upon sitting down, we noticed that there were a fair amount of guests being seated wearing flip-flops, hoodies, and graphic T-shirts when we had understood the restaurant as a place to dress up for dinner. When our party was seated we were immediately greeted by how cold it was in the restaurant for a particularly cool night outside and asked our server whether it would be possible to turn down the air conditioning. She was responsive and told us that she had made the request, but since the temperature hadn't felt like it changed, one of the members of our party told her that she was going to get a hat for the cold. Our party ordered drinks (which we found that the cocktails were the same price when ordered with or without the alcohol) and a couple of courses for the meal. For the first course, one of our appetizers was a soup, which unfortunately came out of the kitchen cold (it was not intended as a cold soup). The rest of our appetizers and dishes were good, but felt priced highly. At the end of our meal, after ordering coffee and dessert, a hostess came over to our table and told the person in our party wearing a hat to take it off. We explained that our meal was almost over and that it was incredibly cold so the hat was a way to enjoy the meal without feeling too marred by the cold. She persisted in telling us that the hat needed to be taken off and that it wasn't permitted in the restaurant. The person in my party left the table and went outside to wear the hat and upon leaving was accosted by the manager who was exceedingly rude about the situation, yet wouldn't explain why people wearing flip flops (made for the beach, in a worn in the sun, sand, and dirt way) and T-shirts weren't escorted from the restaurant as we were. After leaving, I looked at their website, and found that their dress code states that flip-flops and athletic attire - as we saw so clearly at the restaurant - are not permitted. I am not sure why we were targeted and other guests were not. The unfortunate fact that stuck with me was that we were seated at the table closest to the door and were thus visible to the hosts and management the whole meal - why did the management wait until we had ordered every course and spent as much money as possible to force us to leave? read more
