One of the best impromptu dinner decisions we've made in a while. With all the futuristic decor and glowing 5 star reviews, my expectations were high and they absolutely delivered. The food was SO good. We placed an order using their app which is super easy to maneuver. It didn't take long for our order to be ready. We ordered the Sesame Chicken, House Fried Rice (26oz), and wings tossed in sweet and sour sauce. We also added some General Tso and Sweet Chili sauces on the side. Everything was packed with flavor and served in generous portions. It was perfect for two adults with leftovers to take home. RB (The Rice Box) has the vibe of a cool after-hours hangout with great food, a chill ambiance, and a place you'll want to visit again and again. Can't wait to visit again soon.

Came here for a quick work lunch and loved it! Got the classic YangZhou fried rice with Chinese sausage - portions were large and they did not skimp out on the sausage. Came with an egg roll too which was a nice touch. I think they had a good balance of less salty base with salty sausage, but I would have liked just a touch more (maybe 10%) soy sauce to coat the rice as I thought some flavor was left on the table. But even with that, I'd still definitely come back!

Hands done one of the best Asian fusion places I have been to. The chicken here is exactly the way most Asian places can't replicate. Ambiance was top notch as I was just blown away.

Always love this place, after having it catered by my job. My dad loves Asian food, so I decided to get him hip to this place... I love the futuristic vibes and background music. This place was clean and I was able to order quickly without any issues. We ordered; App: Scallion Pancake Entrees: Pepper steak & Sesame Chicken both w/ noodles and chicken eggroll I like that you are able to control the spice in each dish; no spice, med or extra spicy. The food is always awesome here, no complaints. I was surprised that there was plenty of parking, despite its awkward location. My dad loved the noodles, they should rename it to "noodle box" Enter freely, they've been approved

Please start being considered neighbor. Thank you. This is a view from all our front balconies every day.

John P, the owner of Rice box, I live by your joint and do not need delivery if I choose to eat your food. Your customers do not park where they supposed to. Your waste trap overflowing last week of Thanksgiving week was the most disappointing and disgusting experience we had in our neighborhood for decades. You should treat your neighbors a little better!

    Eggplant garlic and noodles.

The garlic eggplant was heavily coated with a dark overpowering seasoning. I expected white rice to accompany but it was given noodles, again, seasoned heavily where you couldn't tell what exactly you were eating. Not an enjoyable meal in my opinion.

I still love rice box when I'm in Houston the vibe is unmatched major meow wolf energy! The food is good and decently priced too! The lady that took my order was so incredibly sweet can't wait to go back thank you for the great food and consistently!

I stopped by for some quick dinner and was impressed by the tasty food and timely service. The place was clean and was decorated in a lovely and fun manner, with colorful low lights and plenty of seating. There were multiple faction movies playing all at once and the bright menus that made up an entire wall made it easy to order. I had the general tsao's chicken meal with the chicken egg roll and it was really good. The flavors were rich and the textures were succulent. Really good quality and quantity for what I was looking for.

This place is so cool!! It's so high tech and I feel like I just walked into a restaurant in Tokyo, Japan. The food is really good and just even the chicken fried rice itself is very good. I will say that The portions are very large so they are definitely splittable. The first time we went, we got our own entrées and then the next time we went, we just split one and that was more than enough for both me and my boyfriend. Service was really fast. Even the second time when we ordered it online it was ready before we even got there. This is definitely a place you want to take a lot of photos. Even have like a nice outside area because it is a little bit cold inside the restaurant. Bring a jacket.

Random craving for egg rolls so I tried this place out. The interior is nice. There is parking but the lot is oddly shaped. Customer service is non-existent - at least it was when I dined in. It gave vollect payment and then we don't care energy. There is a variety of options on the menu. I ordered what I call the beef with broccoli . The portion size was fulfilling. The fried rice just lacked flavor -which was disappointing. Even when you add the duck sauce the fried rice was just bland. Also, I dined in and it was interesting that you don't get refills on fountain drinks.

Love the lights and the tech feel. My kiddo was obsessed and she's definitely hard to please aesthetically. Tall guy with the long hair was super nice and friendly!! Great customer service and it's so hard to come by these days. So thank you!! Tonight I got the lg house fried rice with chicken. It's a great portion for two or for one person and have left overs. I appreciate the flavor and the green onions sliced just right in the rice. I also like that the rice is the right texture. It's not mushy or too wet. It's a nice dry rice that's light but gets your full. I also ordered the noodles as a side and that was plenty to eat as a full entree. I will be back!! And maybe even tomorrow!!

Chicken Curry. Tender chicken. Just barely crispy carrots. The random sweet potatoes. The curry sauce. Love.

Husband and I have a 7 year tradition now. Eat at Rice Box. Go look at fancy Christmas lights. Usually we do it mid December. But we did it Jan 3 this year. Fewer lights, but same great experience. Food is delicious. I know they've rebranded to make everything look like them and not a random takeout. Perfect. Our date night included beer, 2 Star Wars movies and 2 Keanu Reeves movies. Perfect date night.

    Crab Rangoons
    Sarah W.

I found this food pretty lackluster, but I might've just ordered the wrong thing. I got curry chicken and I didn't realize that it was just chicken, sweet potato, and carrots... and I don't like sweet potatoes or carrots. Their fried rice was good - just plain old rice fried with some egg. The crab Rangoons were good and so were the egg rolls. I'm sure I'll eat here again because my friends enjoyed their food, so I'll update my review when I get something better next time. I will say that I found it hard to focus on the menu on the wall because there were so many moving parts on it, but that might just be a me problem. I much preferred looking at the menu on my phone. There was a pretty long wait even though there weren't a lot of people eating there, but I think they get a lot of takeout orders so maybe that's why. The tables are all long so it's sort of communal seating. There's also outdoor seating.

A couple came in after us, walked up to the host stand, and were seated immediately, which seemed a little odd. The service was fine overall, but there were a few things that stood out. Since I have back issues, I would have preferred a booth, and the couple who arrived after us was seated in an open booth while we were seated at a table. No one checked to see if I needed a tea refill during the meal. In the restroom, an ant casually strolled into my stall and wandered around, which was unexpected. The biggest issue was the food. Multiple dishes had an unexpected smoky flavor, including the wonton soup, hot and sour soup, and General Tso's chicken. My husband and I both noticed it. The food was okay, but the smoky taste wasn't something we enjoyed, and I ended up leaving quite a bit on my plate rather than taking leftovers home. Overall, the experience wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable enough that we'd be excited to return.

When I began eating it, I immediately tasted cilantro on a portion of the chicken. I strongly dislike cilantro and am very familiar with its very distinctive taste, so I sent the dish back. The cilantro itself wasn't even what bothered me most. Mistakes and cross-contact happen in restaurant kitchens. Since I didn't taste it on every piece of chicken, I assumed some of it may simply have been accidentally garnished or come into contact with cilantro. What bothered me was how the chef/owner handled it. He came to my table and proceeded to tell me that what I was tasting wasn't cilantro. He insisted that I was either tasting the microgreens or green onion. I know what cilantro tastes like. I certainly know the difference between cilantro, green onion and microgreens. Instead of simply acknowledging that something could have happened in the kitchen, he spoke to me as though I didn't understand what I was tasting. Eventually, I just agreed with him because I wanted the conversation to end and wanted him away from my table. I wasn't agreeing because I suddenly believed I had mistaken green onion or microgreens for cilantro. I simply had no interest in continuing to argue with the chef/owner over what I had personally tasted in my own food. I have no interest in engaging with a man who acts like that and wants to argue. A much more professional response would have been, "I'm sorry about that. We'll replace it." That would have been the end of the matter. Instead, a minor and completely understandable kitchen mistake became an uncomfortable interaction because of the way it was handled. Food mistakes happen. I don't expect perfection. But I do expect to be treated respectfully rather than patronized and argued with over something as simple as cilantro. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled is what left the lasting impression.Definitely not coming back. This was my third and final visit here.

I can confidently say that I was disappointed. There was not one dish that stood out or that I would recommend or come back for. I especially was sad that the crying tiger flavors really missed the mark. The sticky rice that came with it felt like it was reheated and some parts were hard. It also tasted like some of the vegetables (green beans and carrots) that come with the entrees were frozen, not fresh. The jasmine green tea tastes like a powder mix. Some of the squid tasted freezer burned. The kua kling was the most interesting and unique of the dishes, but not one that I would go out of my way to eat again. The sticky rice with mango was as expected. The coconut ice cream is probably pre-portioned and frozen so was rock solid when it came out. I did not find most of the toppings particularly good. It was a busy Friday and I know service was busy. The food did not take long to come out, but we definitely had dishes from previous courses that stacked up, and we had to ask them to be taken away. They do have a high chair for toddlers and brought a plastic plate/utensils, but there was not a changing table in the bathroom we used. We have had such great experiences at other Thai restaurants in Houston that I would not come back.

I also love the aesthetic of the restaurant especially with the cute turtle pond. The reason for four stars is because the service was just ok for it to be not busy they were not attentive at all. It's ok for a quick bite but I won't got out my way to visit. Oh yea the stir fry noodles were a 10/10.

The restaurant had an interesting vibe not bad, not great. The S&M maki: 6/10 this is a roll for people that don't really like sushi. Rating it a bit lower because I don't like cooked salmon in my sushi and it didn't specify that it would be. It tasted decent mainly because of the sauces giving it some flavor. Crispy chicken egg roll: 6/10 pretty dry, but I enjoyed how crispy it was and doused it with sauce. Yaki noodles: 4/10 they looked amazing but severely lacked flavor and they were supposed to be really spicy too. They had no spice and really just tasted like bland noodles with overcooked veggies. I don't think I will be returning here as the food wasn't that great but maybe the regular non reverse happy hour is better ?
