A friend of our recommended Ruggles Black and said we needed to try it. It did not disappoint, they are a Paleo and Keto restaurant and their menu is plenty long. We made reservations for a Friday, reservations preferred but not required. When we went they had plenty of tables open, both indoor and out doors. Casual chic is the vibe but I noticed not a strict dress code which is nice. Some stand out dishes were the Paleo Angry Shrimp, the Stuffed Goat Chicken, and the Pork Chop. We also ended with the carrot cake and omg it was just incredible. We will be back just to try more items on the menu!

Excellent meal! Everything was deliciously fresh and packed with flavor. The service was a little slow, but once things got going, it was good. Shoutout to Ashley for ensuring we were taken care of. Even the chef was on the floor directing patrons to their seats. And the dessert board?! To die for! Ask to see it, even if you're only contemplating it. Great experience, we plan to refer and return!

My first time returning back to this place in a while. Met a friend for HRW. I see they moved locations from down the street off the freeway. The hostess told me they moved locations to this one 3 years ago. I also inquired on what happened to Ruggles on the Green. She states those turned in to Bella green (or Sweet Green). Parking- is valet only. No self park option. But maybe you could find something down the street or in a neighborhood? They have regular parking for $5, and VIP parking for $10. Still unclear on the difference of the two besides the $$. The decor was cute, nicely designed for an elevated look. It's divided between bar seating with natural sunlight. And the dinning area more moody and dim with chandeliers all over. Service - was amazing thanks to Jose! 5 stars on him. He anticipated our needs, was warm friendly and provided excellent service. Please give this man a raise! Food- First course was there tomatoe basil bisque. I love soup, and gobbled this down in minutes. I liked the blanched carrots as a topping of the soup. Was very tasty. My main entree was the Chilean Sea Bass with mixed veg. Came out hot hot hot and good. Last was the keto lemon cheesecake. I was pretty full from the soup and the sea bass. But somehow I rationalized that the cheesecake was too small of a piece to take home, so just decided to eat it there. I left stuffed! We stayed there late and they never rushed us out. Thank you Ruggles!

I came for HRW and, unfortunately, was not very impressed by the food. I will preface by saying that I did not come in knowing that the restaurant was a health-conscious establishment. I appreciated the numerous paleo and keto options available for individuals with dietary restrictions, as well as the extensive HRW menu. However, the healthy substitutes were very noticeable with certain dishes. I shared with a friend and we got the calamari and the paleo short rib taco to start. We got the tandoori pepper crusted grassfed filet mignon with garlic jalepeno chive butter and the fresh made pasta with sausage, chicken, and short rib for our mains. For dessert, we had the paleo lemon cheesecake and the tres leches. The calamari was solid. It was crispy and I liked how it came with 3 different sauces. My favorite was the creamy tartar- like sauce. (6.5/10) The paleo short rib taco was also tasty. Though I was weary about the tortilla substitute, the flavors of the fresh veggies and sauce with the short rib were very nice. My only wish was that the order came with more than one taco. (7/10) The filet mignon was also solid. The meat itself was tender; however, the portion was very small, which was quite noticeable, especially when served on such a large plate. The vegetables on the side also came in such a small portion and were just boiled, so nothing special. The mashed cauliflower had a weird aftertaste and was disappointing to me because I was expecting velvety mashed potatoes. (5.5/10) The pasta was okay. I liked how they included a lot of protein as promised by the name of the dish. However, I did not love the choice of angel hair pasta for this dish, and the tomato sauce was pretty basic. (5/10) The paleo lemon cheesecake was my preferred dessert out of the two. It had a great lemon flavor and was the right balance of sweet and tart. The only thing I didn't love was the coconut cream on top. I'd prefer a normal whipped cream. (6/10) The tres leches was okay. I thought the sponge cake was moist but not soaked in the milk like I'd expect for a tres leches. I was also confused about the sauces that they incorporated on the side of the dish. I didn't feel as though they enhanced the dessert at all. (5/10) Overall, the service was good and the valets were very kind. Parking is valet only, which is a $5 charge. The ambiance is really nice with the dim lighting and chandeliers to give it more of an upscale vibe. Unfortunately, despite the grand looks, the food did not wow me in the same way. Though it was not necessarily my cup of tea, I think it is a good option for those who have dietary restrictions and are looking for a nice place to have dinner.

The ample keto and Paleo menu options caught my attention when I came across Ruggles Black on the Houston Restaurant Week menu and I had to try them out. Upon arrival the valets were super polite and helpful. Walked inside and the hostess was also super sweet. She sat us at our table. Shortly after we were greeted by the very best server, Jose! From start to finish he was so warm, welcoming, calm, polite, helpful, friendly but not too chatty, great at anticipating our needs, knowledgeable about the menu. He was basically perfect and my ideal server. The food was delicious. For my first course I had their tomato basil soup. It was the perfect portion size, super flavorful and just the right temperature, warming me up in the slightly cool restaurant as I sat there in my sleeveless shirt and Bermuda length shorts. My second and main course was their incredible grilled chicken breast with avocado lime cilantro tequila butter. It came with a side of mashed cauliflower and mixed sauteed vegetables. The chicken breast was also a perfect portion, kinda big which is always a lovely surprise during restaurant week. It was so juicy, tender and had so much flavor. The lime cilantro tequila butter was amazing and perfectly complimented the chicken. I dragged some of my veggies and mashed cauliflower in the butter as well and it tasted so good on those too. The best part, the meal had no impact on my glucose at all. It remained in a perfectly healthy range. Well that's until I ate my third course, their delectible white chocolate bread pudding but that was to be expected. The pudding was a smaller portion size for HRW. It was warm and melted in my mouth along with the small ice cream scoop they placed on top. It also came with a strawberry mint garnish that I also gobbled down. All courses of my food were perfect Also the restaurant is beautiful inside. Although they light actual candles at each table and the wax started spilling onto our table during our meal. Pro tip: Stick with the $5 valet parking. There is zero difference between the $5 parking and the $10 VIP parking. I sprang for VIP, while my friend got the $5 parking and they actually parked her car a little closer than mine.

DAMNNN. How have I not been here before? I've been cutting added sugar so this was perfect. So many paleo and keto options and the short rib biryani WAS INSANELY GOOD. One of the best dishes I've had at a restaurant ever. It was sweetened with dates and figs and the short rib was a very generous portion and perfectly tender. My mom's curry seafood ramen had an excellent flavor and was loaded with various proteins. The paleo lava cake was delicious as well and the coconut ice cream was the perfect touch- I can't believe it was paleo!! Definitely will be back soon to try the pizzas and pastas! Food came out very quickly as well!

Heard a lot about this place so we were excited to be here. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice. Service was a bit lacking. We were there for lunch, the restaurant is not packed but our servers were definitely not visible when needed. We had a table for 12. When came to food , presentation was Ok but the food was not that great at all. Overall experience was not impressive. By the way, they only have valet parking at the restaurant and it costs $5 during lunch hours. I was told $10 at nite.

    Judy C.

Made resy ahead of time and was able to get seated right away. Came during lunch and for their HRW 2025 menu. It is a very healthy restaurant (paleo, gluten free, vegetarian friendly). For HRW, got the Brussels Sprouts (pretty good balsamic flavoring and had some crisp), Chicken Parmesan (pretty average tasting) and the bread pudding (i was most disappointed that they added the strawberry syrup on top of the ice cream instead of on the side as optional). Not busy during lunch time on a friday. Restroom - clean Parking - $6 valet (card) and $5 valet (cash)

Service is great friendly food is great amount and flavorful ambience is great for party and friends day out and entertainment music the atmosphere.

I had been here years ago ( in another location) and enjoyed it but maybe my palette has changed - back this time for a work trip and found it reminded me of wedding food! Lovely service throughout - began with a French75 that was too sweet and not cold enough then we all shared appetizers! They were okay but not fabulous- calamari which is not my favorite dish turned out to be the thing! Had Ahi as my main course - it was okay but the sweet potato slice on the dish was better. As we ended they brought one of those fake dessert trays you used to see at chain restaurants maybe 15 years ago! They had way too many offerings which was reflected in the quality - I got a tiramisu - or at least that was what they called it! It has zero coffee that I could taste and appeared to be a brownie base not ladyfingers and cool whip! Weird and bad! Did not eat it! Not bad, not good but not for me !

We had a really great experience at Ruggles Black. When we walked in, we did not realize how nice the atmosphere would be. It was a wonderful dining experience. The service was excellent and our waiter Lenard gave us all of the great suggestions. The goat cheese salad was phenomenal and was quite filling. The pepporoni pizza was solid but a little bit greasy for my preference. When you go, ask to see the dessert tray and get the Charlotes Web. It was one of the best desserts I have ever had. Note- There is valet at the restaurant for $5. I did not see any self park option.

Dillon: Sun Tzu once said, "Never order a burger at a non-burger place". After not eating all day, i was really excited to finally have a great meal that i was looking forward to. I got the burger. It came with a fried egg and bacon which are my favorite burger toppings. If nothing else, most restaurants will get this right, it was not very good. I asked for medium rare but the meat was mealy, soggy, and undercooked. The egg was overcooked and cold. The service was pretty mid for such an upscale and expensive place, we were left alone for quite some time. The rating would be lower if not for the outstanding beef empanadas and the paleo chicken wings. Also, I'm glad they use such high quality ingredients and oils. They say hunger is the best spice, but I guess that wasn't on their ingredient list tonight. Aneena: As someone who's not very picky, the burger I was served wasnt the best. The meat wasn't cooked as well as l'd like and the fried egg was far too overcooked and cold. The best parts of my meal were the sweet potato fries that came as a side and the chicken wing appetizer. The venue was beautiful and the service was nice!

First, we got there pretty early for our reservation. We sat almost immediately upon check in. Our waiter was in training but did a really good job. Ordered a whiskey sour. Was seated at the bar so I got to watch it be made. The bartender- man that guy never stopped. He was organized and just did his thing. So many pretty drinks were made while I was there watching. The pink one, whatever it was, was really pretty! On to the food. We got two apps, two meals, and two desserts. Husband ordered the Brussels, Steak Frites, and the Devil's Affogato. I got the Bacon covered Dates, the Pizza, and the Sticky Toffee Cake. The Brussels were good - husband liked them more than me. They were good. Had cashews in them. Little spicy. The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. The desserts - don't skip them! The Devils Affogato we had the first time we ate at Sixty Vines. Had to have it again. If you like coffee, chocolate and vanilla ice cream just get it. Restaurant vibe is relaxed and clean. There were several large parties and what looked like a lot of date night guests. Just try it. No regrets!!

I might have just found one of my new favorite restaurants in Houston. What a great experience!…read more Recently, a good friend dined here and immediately called me to tell me how great it was. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I will be back.

Had a 5:30pm resy, seated outside right away that Saturday evening--it was a full house 45 minutes later. You'd be a fool to skip the dilly bread--a complete fool! The rolls are pillowy and warm. I could eat the butter by the pint. The fingerlinging potato dish is also a must have...pretty small for $19 but tastes like heaven. Spicy! Zaddy was being a bit of a clutz that evening and knocked over my $20 mezcal cocktail, so what does he do? Orders me another one! (That's why he's "zaddy") ....kind of wish he hadn't...so wasn't worth the price tag. Skip it. The chicken dinner was definitely the winner--fresh, juicy breast, crispy skin...don't be cute, you won't finish it unless your party has at least 4 in it! The flies were ruthless! Very annoying! They were acting like the geekers that come bother you just outside your favorite fried chicken joint in south Dallas! Our waitress brought out a table fan so that made the experience a little more tolerable. The chocolate peanut butter pie tasted like a salt rock and the lemon chiffon pie had great flavor but not lemony enough for me. All in all this place is a bit pricey but truly a gem! I parked on a nearby street by mandell park. They have a separate bar and separate restaurant. I first entered the bar area. The line was long and I almost waited in it not realizing that the actual restaurant was right next door! The restaurant itself was spacious and had plenty of seating. They accommodated a baby and we saw a couple of other families present. I had always heard the Toasted Coconut was vegetarian friendly but there wasn't that many vegetarian options on the menu. The menu in the past had a vegetarian sandwich, but it looks like this has since been removed. I got the onion hash which was a large egg dish with black beans and potatoes. It was good and I had enough leftover to take home for another meal. I also tried the cauliflower wings. The sauce was a strong sweet and sour flavor (just a little too strong for my liking) and the cauliflower was crispy. I would order this again. I got the zinger mocktail and it was tasty with a nice kick to it. Service was friendly! Overall would return.

The overall vibe is casual and welcoming, making it a great place to grab a few drinks with friends or coworkers. The indoor and outdoor seating options are nice when Houston isn't blistering hot. Parking can be tough, though, since the lot is shared with a couple of other restaurants. That said, this recent visit was overshadowed by what was easily the most awkward and least customer-focused service experience I've had here. I was dining with a group of friends, and one friend ordered a meal to eat there along with another item to go. There was a little confusion when the order was placed, but we thought everything had been clarified. When the food arrived, both items were served on plates for the table. We politely explained that one of them was supposed to be a to-go order. It turned out the server had entered an additional order and believed we wanted both items for the table. What bothered me wasn't the mistake itself--those happen. It was the response. There was no apology, and instead we were told the misunderstanding was due to how we had communicated the order. We decided to keep all the food and move on, but the interaction felt unnecessarily defensive. I came a little late and was looking at the menu and asked whether they still had the fried eggplant dish that had been on the menu before. The response was simply, "No." No explanation, no follow-up, just an awkward silence. It set the tone for the rest of the interaction. So I decided to let her know I'll continue to look. This response was so uncomfortable that I later decided not to order anything at all. At one point, the server mentioned she had overheard us talking about having a "crazy weekend" and seemed to use that as an explanation for the earlier confusion. Whether there was miscommunication on both sides or not, the overall experience felt unnecessarily tense. I've typically had wonderful experiences here, which is why this visit stood out so much. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are still reasons I'd come back, but please avoid assigning Naya to customers if she's not willing to be a bit more cordial.

The front hostess, Annabella, was incredibly welcoming and helpful, making us feel valued from the start. Our waiter was equally amazing and attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring we had a wonderful evening. We started with the deviled eggs and crab beignets, both of which were absolutely delicious. Their French onion soup was hearty. Drinks were fabulous too. For our meal, we ordered the mashed potatoes, cacio e pepe, pork schnitzel, blackened fish, miso fish, and burger, and every dish was perfectly prepared and packed with flavor. The restaurant went above and beyond by surprising my mother-in-law with a birthday dessert (upon my request when I had originally booked it), which was such a thoughtful touch and made the celebration even more memorable. We also enjoyed the pecan ball and chocolate soufflé, and both were outstanding. Between the incredible food, impeccable service, and special attention to our celebration, State of Grace exceeded all expectations. Annabella, our waiter, and the entire staff made the evening feel truly special. Easily one of the best dining experiences we've had in Houston, and we can't wait to return! I will be planning a girls night there soon!

Hollywood, va voom and metagorda all similar in taste to each other. The maison salad was delicious. Butter lettuce with the toppings and sauce was just enjoyable. The butter burger sliders were good. Just would like it thicker as it's too much bun. The cookie on the way out was so awesome, I almost went back in to grab another. Gingerbread I think. Avery was a wonderful bartender and kept up with entertaining conversations and was attentive to all service needs. Tried the g4 tequila reposado and it was very easy drinking.

The wings are good and at a great price point; I believe it was 9 wings for about $12, which is not bad at all. The broccoli, an add on side, was bland and cold. The chocolate croissant was okay. Service was quick walk in order at the counter and you can order at the table too off the app . Ambiance is calm and chill Overall, it's a great place with a solid menu, and they have happy hour as well. Check it out if you're in the area.

The restaurant is connected to one of the main parking garages. The first two hours are free which is convenient. It has a more casual feel because of the counter service setup. I like that they have a large menu. We visited on a Sunday afternoon which meant we had the option to order from the brunch menu. The dining area is a good size and they also have a nice patio which is where we sat. The staff was nice, but they were slow at times. The biggest issue was with the food. I ordered the Chicken Tenders which came with Fries and Honey Slaw. I also ordered a side of Broccoli. The Fries and Broccoli were cold while the Cole Slaw was too salty for my taste preference. The Chicken Tenders and dipping sauces (Cayenne Ranch and Honey Mustard) were tasty. One of my dining companions sent some of her food back because it was also served cold. One of the employees was going to reheat her food, and she had to ask for a new order to be brought out (which they reluctantly did). For my beverage I had the Blueberry Spritz which is a mocktail. It was very good and refreshing, but took quite a while to be brought to the table. The staff was nice enough to grab extra napkins and utensils for us when we asked which was very nice of them to do. Maybe it was just an off day for the staff and hopefully they have fixed the issue with serving cold food that is meant to be served hot. I'll wait a little while longer before returning.
