I get the ham and Greer sandwich with caramelized onions. Every time I go there it is so delicious. I don't even want to try anything else. The pastries are fresh. The dough is fresh. The bread is fresh and if you're lucky, you may even get some day old bread at half off. I highly recommend this.

I'd never before seen sourdough croissants or cheese danishes; there's an abundance of gorgeous loaves/boules for sale. (Cheese fondue supplies! Yes!!). A baker's rack to the right sells day-old bread at discounted prices (make your own croutons!) I opted for an almond (sourdough) croissant and a small coffee; I was asked if I wanted a mug or a to go cup? I was given a beautiful glazed mug - very charming! Two things worth mentioning: There's a small seating area downstairs, and five large tables upstairs. The stairs? A polite way of describing them is, "grandfathered-in". The rise/run makes it difficult to navigate if you're in thick boots, carrying a child, or have stiff knees. The pastry had a beautiful crunch. I enjoyed the almond flavor. And then I found: cherry preserves? I'm aware that "croissant et confiture" (eaten with jam) is a standard French breakfast, but it did change the mouth feel of the treat. I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting to try something earthier and beautifully executed.

I asked the waitress if the cheese could be melted & was told there was really no way to do it. It could be put under a heat lamp but that would take some time. We have asked for our eggs this way at other establishments and never received them like this. The bacon was floppy & needed to be cooked more. My daughter loves pancakes, but she wouldn't eat the ones here. I tasted them, and they were very dense, and tasted like they were from a not-so-great boxed mix. The sausage was good, as was the homemade strawberry jam, and the staff was great, but we won't be returning to any Stacks restaurants.

The creative way you can order your pancakes is limitless. I had the Stacked - 2 eggs cooked any way you want them,I ordered over medium which is hard to do and they came out perfect, hash browns, 2 bacon strips, 2 sausage links, with 2 incredible pancakes. I pluses up my pancakes with Nutella and bananas for $1.99 and that was well worth it! The service was great and friendly . Fast efficient team service model that worked perfectly. Our food was delivered hot and our coffee cups were never empty.

Checked back in after 30 mins was told it should be ready in just a few minutes . Went back in after waiting 45 mins. Food wasn't ready, I politely requested a refund as we couldn't wait any longer. The manager came over and had trouble reversing my payment. He was not apologetic , in fact he was rude. I said we couldn't wait , we had already been waiting over 45 mins. He said there are people ahead of you , you should normally wait an hour. The restaurant was not half full as others had left as the wait was too long. He begrudgingly gave me cash back as he couldn't get the machine to work. I'm willing to wait my turn but if the wait for two burgers to go is EXPECTED to be an hour , I will go somewhere else.

Well, it turns out that Backety Back has been replaced. On the basis of our first trial, I approve of the change. I ordered a chicken shawarma. When it came, it was practically bursting. There was all KINDS of stuff in there besides the chicken and lettuce. I was definitely a happy boy. My sweetie also really enjoyed her burger, and it sounds like Crystal Beach Gateway is her new favourite place for poutine. There are a bunch of tables outside. While we were there, several of them were in use, and more people kept showing up while we were there. Inside, some of the tables have been marked off to provide for social distancing, but of course you still need a mask to navigate past choke points like the front door and the washrooms. The servers have gotten practised at greeting unmasked patrons at the door with menus, and directing them to the outside seating. Given the structural limitations of the existing building, I was really impressed with how smoothly they're handling things. I should probably say that our food took its sweet time coming. Granted, it was worth the wait, but this isn't the kind of place that you can just pop into for a quick bite and split.
