Stopped in after filing some legal documents downtown; didn't know this place existed prior. It's a quiet little lunch spot that sees geared solely towards the downtown lunch crowd, given that they're only open between 11am and 2pm Monday through Friday. I feel like if downtown Buffalo wasn't so dead outside the workday, they should consider staying open longer, but I respect the owner's circumstances. The dining room itself is quite pleasant, decorated with cute cottage-like motifs. Nothing over the top, just enough to feel homey. The menu too was relatively minimalistic; seven sandwiches, five salads, two or three daily soups, and other snacks, drinks and a few deli goods. Not a demerit for me; that often tells me that put more emphasis on quality than variety, and that was certainly the case here. Ordered the tomato, roasted garlic and spinach soup, in addition to the Hungry Hungry Hipster salad. The soup was super flavorful and savory, with each of the main components in the bar featuring prominently. The garlic was not covered up by the tomato in the broth, and the spinach give very mild bitterness that balanced the bowl. Likewise, the salad was super fresh, filling, and bursting with flavor, with a base of tender kale on a bed of quinoa, brimming with sweet fruits like red apples, figs and date bits, tart fruits like Granny Smith apples and cranberries, topped with nutty Manchego cheese and a sweetly-spiced maple-mustard vinaigrette, and ringed with mini roast chicken cutlets ($2.50 Extra). Nothing about this salad was lacking in my opinion. The owners even dropped off a piece of candy at my table as I finished; I don't generally eat mass-produced confections but it was a very sweet gesture. Overall, I was very pleased to find this place for lunch and highly encourage anyone who happens to be in downtown Buffalo at midday to stop in. A true "hidden gem" that the influencers ironically haven't found yet. Keep in mind, as other reviewers have noted, they are a bit pricey, but I'd happily pay a bit more for this kind of quality from a small business any day. read more

Nicest people in the world own this place! And the food quality & atmosphere can't be beat. My favorite is the cauliflower or broccoli & cheddar, but truth is...I've never had a bad soup here. I almost always get the Malibu Barbie, and as much as I try to save 1/2 for later--I'm rarely successful--b/c despite getting full very quickly, the sandwich is so good I can't stop. I cannot say enough great things about this place, and I'm shocked I've not yet left a review for my favorite lunch spot in the entire city. This is a cute small restaurant across from the office where I work. I've been wanting to stop in for awhile now and I'm so glad I did. I spoke with one of the employees and the owner. I ordered their special today, which was half of a tuna sandwich and either black bean and chorizo soup or beef vegetable soup. I think you could get a salad, instead of the soup, as a combo. They asked if they could put sour cream and something else on top of the soup. I said sure. The soup was fantastic, as was the sandwich. They gave me a small piece of crusty bread with the sandwich. They also included a small soft mint in the box with the half of a sandwich. I loved my experience here and I'll definitely be back soon. If you're in the area, you should check this place out. I have visited this place 3 times within the last couple of weeks before I decided to settle on a 5 star review. It honestly has some of the best cream based soups I have ever have , both the cauliflower and potato soups were excellent ! All sandwiches are tasty too, breads taste fresh and they had an interesting avocado spread on their one Turkey sandwich (I would have never thought to pair turkey and avocado together, but I am now onboard) . It's easy to go over my $10 lunch budget there, but sizes are generous and can easily provide 2 meals. Owners are friendly and always thank me for the business. I only wish they had more of a selection on their menu . Only about 2-3 soups , 3 salads , and 6 or so sandwiches on their menu . Maybe they will expand with time! read more

We visit this little cafe every time we come to Buffalo. The family that owns and works it is so so sweet and funny, and the food is generously portioned and freshly prepared. We always get the lunch combo, and my kiddo amazes me by managing to finish the whole thing. My Onassis salad is fresh and crisp and perfect every time, and the tempeh dish my mom got today was delish, definitely grabbing that next time! I happened upon this cafe walking down Main Street so I decided to try it. It's really adorable inside, with a nice set of seats facing Main Street should you want to watch the activity. They have a handful of sandwiches, a few soups and salads, and some tasty looking baked goods. I tried the number 3, Tempeh of Doom (cute). It's basically a tempeh banh mi, and it was delicious. Be warned though - the sucker is spicy! Ask for no jalapeño and/or sriracha mayo on the side if you have a milder palate. It comes with a few pickles that were yummy, I wonder if they are made in house? Next I will try one of their salads. On the menu in the future I would like to see a chicken sandwich and a small side salad. It would also be nice to add a side to the sandwiches, like $1 up charge to add the small salad, or bean salad, or even chips. I'll be back!! read more

Ordered Catering from Missy last week for a luncheon with important clientele: Received a variety of deli sandwiches (which had a lot of meat in them) with dressings on the side, salad with dressings o/s, a good selection of sodas and yummy homemade cookies. There are several sandwiches, salads, and soups. It also has some pastries that looked yummy. Order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I got the banh mi to go, and it was quite tasty - although a bit spicy (be warned!). It was the perfect amount of food for lunch. However, there is an option to add potato salad or cole slaw for $1 if you're feeling the need for a little something more. I stopped by this lovely cafe today for lunch. Staff were wearing masks and gloves and they were pleasant and helpful. Prices were reasonable and portions were medium- to large-sized. The mushroom-asparagus soup and chocolate chip cookie with walnuts were delicious. The salad greens were fine but the vinaigrette dressing tasted too vinegary and looked and tasted like it came out of a bottle.
