It was absolutely delicious and such a fun, unique combination of flavors! I also really appreciated how much care they put into accommodating gluten free customers. Gluten free meals are served on a blue plate so staff and customers are clearly aware of the allergy precautions being taken, which is such a thoughtful touch and made me feel very comfortable dining there. We are on a roll! Enjoying springtime and taking advantage of all this nice weather to get out of the house. The Poked Yolk is only open for breakfast and lunch. They close by 2:00 pm so you gotta get over there early! Sometimes the line is out the door, but we got lucky and were seated immediately. Our hot coffee came out very quickly, and our food plates were out a few minutes later. The challenge this week is to find KETO breakfast items and I was not disappointed. I ordered the 3 Little Pigs omelette. It comes with toast and hash brown potatoes which I packed up to go for my husband. My omelette was full of bacon, breakfast sausage and ham bits. Topped with a layer of cheddar cheese, this fit the KETO requirement on this day. My husband chose the Chicken Club omelet with hash brown and rye toast. This is mine and my friends go to spot for breakfast! It's a small little place and it can get a little noisy when they are busy, it's never really been a long wait typically around 15 minutes and the staff is friendly. Went on a Saturday around 10am. Short wait time & quick service. Everything we tried was delicious and relatively very healthy. They also make their own homemade jam which was amazing. Wow this place is busy but with good reason!! My daughter in law & I went around 10am & it only took a few minutes to get seated. Our waitress was nice as well as efficient & our food was brought out in a timely manner. We had apple carmel French toast & ham & the Bacon lover's breakfast that had 2 eggs, seasoned home fries, toast, & 6 pieces of bacon. Their preserve of the month was pineapple peach & was super good not tangy at all. We weren't made to feel rushed at all. When we arrived we were told 40 mins. Which i had no problem with, so we left to get a car wash during the wait. Our table ended up being ready 6 minutes later. Not upset about getting seated early, but some accuracy with the timing would be much more appreciated. That is the only reason I'm giving this 4 stars- the food was great. The yolk was not runny, which I liked better (even though that's not traditional). Ham you could taste, was a little salty, but not too much. English muffin was toasted a little too much, little darker than I like but still it was fine. Home fries were just plain. Nothing special. Could do without them, I would sub for something else next time. Vanilla iced coffee 9/10 I think this was a special? This was really good. Didn't taste super sugary either. My server was warm and made me feel really comfortable even though it was my first time visiting. Amy (?) provided great service as well! The interior is quaint, clean and welcoming. I ordered a coffee and the Bacon Lovers Breakfast, which includes 2 eggs (any style), 6 pieces of bacon, homefries, and toast. The BLB, (not to be confused with a BBL), is exactly what I want to order when I go out to breakfast, without having to make substitutions or order add-ons. My order came out quickly, within about 10 minutes, despite it being busy and requesting crispy bacon and well done homefries. Everything came out perfectly to order though! My scrambled eggs came out flat, (think omelette without the filling), but I really liked them. They were so much easier to eat than typical scrambled eggs. The bacon was a really good quality, cooked perfectly. It was crispy, but not dry. The homefries were nicely seasoned and also cooked to perfection. I had a friend visiting from Seattle for a week and they're big on having a good breakfast. I had taken him to nearly all of my favorite spots in Buffalo but figured we could try someplace I hadn't been before. The Poked Yolk popped up in the Yelp app and had solid reviews so we decided to check them out for ourselves. We arrived around 10am on a Wednesday morning and pulled into the fairly big parking lot and found a spot pretty close to the entrance. We were greeted and one of the waitresses said we could take the table she was pointing at. We were seated as soon as we walked in, which was great! Our waitress then came over and took our drink orders and let us look over the menu. Our waitress was pretty and friendly but it seemed like she was spread thin as it took a little more time to get our drinks and be checked on throughout the meal, but I understand that restaurants are still recovering - some slower than others. But, with the extra time, it was nice to sit and chat with my friend and do a little people watching. For breakfast, I ended up ordering the Fire & Smoke omelet from their "Eggcellent Omelets" sub-menu. This is a 3-extra large egg omelet filled with fire roasted red peppers and smoked gouda cheese and served with homefries and toast, which I ordered as wheat-bread. The omelet was pretty good. The roasted red peppers added a different flavor that I don't normally get in an omelet. There was plenty of that smoked gouda cheese inside. The homefries were fine, nothing to go on about though. I did appreciate the option to add sauteed peppers and onions on top. The wheat-bread toast was also fine, nothing special - nicely toasted with a good amount of butter spread on each slice. They had a special strawberry jam which was pretty good. The portions served up seemed a little light when compared to the other breakfast spots in Buffalo we ventured to. The prices weren't too high, but I would've liked the omelet to have been a bit bigger. All-in-all, Poked Yok is an a-ok breakfast spot with friendly staff and good breakfast options. But when comparing to other breakfast spots in and around Buffalo, they don't really compare, at least for me. I'll be honest here, I did not actually look at the menu because before I could begin to ponder what I wanted our server mentioned that they offered a Buffalo Chicken omelette and I was sold! This thing was something special too. The fairly large omelette had hot sauce on it, chicken in it, and a whole lot of egg making it pretty scrumptious. The potatoes that were served with it were pretty good too (although completely outshined by the omelette) Overall, this is an amazing spot to stop and get some breakfast and I couldn't recommend them enough. This is place is legit delicious. We arrived at about 11:30am and were seated 25 minutes later. Their waiting system is pretty awesome. You give them your name and phone number, receive a text, like most places, but then you can go wait in your car and the text they send gives you a link where you can keep checking on where you are in line and how long you have been waiting. That's pretty cool and something that other places should use. It's a good solution for customers who keep asking the hostess where they are on the list, and how much longer it is going to take to get seated. They offer tons of gluten free options, served on a blue plate to specify who requires more care in food preparation. Bravo! The specials included a lot of Thanksgiving inspired meals and I went with the Benny Thanks, which was an English muffin topped with turkey, poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce, and cranberry drizzle. It was also served with home fries. The non-gluten free option also had fried stuffing on the benny. It was fantastic, and a creative dish. My mom ordered the lumberjack waffle. It had hash browns mixed with sausage, bacon and eggs and then smothered with gravy. My mom loved it. From my angle, it looked delicious. Tip: They make homemade jelly of the day. I got the the popular item which was the polk yolk which was homefries cooked with spicy chorizo, onions, green peppers, and melted cheddar jack cheese -- topped with 2 eggs your choice, served with toast. It sounds amazing but when I got it, it was just OK. My partner got the Eggs Benedict and he mentioned they were very skimpy on the hollandaise sauce. Over all everything was just OK and did not live to the hype everyone was talking it up. What great things we had was the service from our server and the pricing was pretty good. Would I come back?
