Even though there was no stated time limit the RD basically packed away almost all of the finish line, ran out of medals promised to all finishers and packed away all the finish line food and water bottle. The RD did not cheer me on as I finished and was very rude. I have completed about 300 races and never had a finish line experience this awful. I also want to note that while I was pretty slow I was not last so multiple runners got this awful treatment. I would never recommend anyone support this RD who does not support all runners

The race starts at Newburyport High School, then runs into the downtown area of Newburyport and along the waterfront. There are crowds of spectators in this area at the town's Yankee Homecoming celebration with concerts, food vendors and more. The second half of the race winds through beautiful, shady country roads, past open pastures and lush greenery. It finishes at the high school again, where there are sprinklers, freeze pops and cold water to refresh after the summer heat. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge at this race, so arrive early for street parking, or park at the middle school behind the high school and leave enough time for a short walk. This is a race I'll do every year - an awesome summer tradition!

When we reached out to the One Hundred Club and spoke with the Director of Events, Lisa Sammons, she turned what was a difficult decision into one of the easiest. We were immediately impressed by her professionalism and warm demeanor and decided to have our reception at the club. After the location was finalized, Lisa unexpectedly volunteered to assist in finding area vendors. When planning our wedding, we knew we wanted to have a local theme. The search for florists and bakeries went from an impersonal Google search to specific recommendations from Lisa, none of which we would have been able to find on our. Her network and knowledge of vendors in the area allowed us to secure vendors providing exactly what we wanted at the price we wanted. The stress of searching for the right chairs, tablecloths, place cards and champagne was gone after we started working with Lisa. We booked three nights of dry camping and arrived Friday excited to start our weekend…read more Unfortunately, we barely made it 24 hours before deciding to leave because of the way we were treated. We were told by another man at the campground that we were permitted to run our quiet generator overnight. The posted cutoff time was 9:00 AM, and we fully intended to shut it off by then. At approximately 8:50 AM the following morning, a woman who lives on-site who is named Karen (no pun intended)- and appeared to run the facility came pounding on our RV door, yelling at us about running the QUIET generator all night. We tried to explain that we had been told we were allowed to do so and that we were going to shut it off at the required time. Instead of having a reasonable conversation, we felt that we were essentially pushed out and harassed during the short time we were there. We also had our baby with us, and it was a hot summer night. Being told that we should have simply opened the windows was incredibly frustrating and felt completely dismissive of our situation. We came to enjoy a three-night camping weekend and instead left after barely 24 hours because of how uncomfortable and unwelcome we were made to feel. We have never experienced this kind of treatment at a campground before. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will never be returning to Hampton State Park RV Camping. The way we were treated was completely unacceptable and left us extremely disappointed and disgusted with the experience. She told us and I quote "this is a campground, not a prison" But clearly it wasn't.
