We'd been to this place to kill some time a few years back on a weekend killing time and had a beverage and an appy, and were underwhelmed. Back in the area, and given a couple of choices we chose to go back to Annie's again. It was for sure the right choice. Our server Grace is absolute gold, both attentive, entertaining and engaging. We sat out in the covered outside area, which just seems newer and more inviting than the pub which is showing some wear and tear. We both ordered the fish and chips with Arctic cod the fish of choice. The lovely K had the one piece and I the two. The food came out quite quickly and was piping hot. Even the second piece of fish still steamed when cut into the first time. The fries are great and the tartar sauce average. The coleslaw was also not top notch which is why there is no five star. Grace, and the cook on the fish is the reason for the four stars, but that said we'd be happy to. Ike back and try some more of the menu! read more

I can't believe how much I miss this place. We moored our boat for many years just across the street at Shelter Island, and always capped off our boating adventures with a visit to Annie's. To be perfectly frank, I miss the days when you could simply go to a cafe, order a coffee and a grilled cheese sandwich, and have a smoke and read a paper as you waited. Because we're living in an age of entitled, emotionally stunted adults with short, child-like, attention spans, every restaurant has to provide an "experience" for these milquetoasts, otherwise the establishment will be pilloried online. Fortunately, Annie's delivers simple, yet very well prepared food, in an unambiguously mature adult setting. The servers have have always been very professional, and thankfully, treat their guests not like infants needing validation, but like adult diners in a restaurant. We moved up the coast recently, and our boat is now sold, but man-oh-man, do we ever miss our visits to this restaurant. read more

I was pretty excited when I drove by their giant scrolling message board this morning. In big red letters it said "DAILY HAPPY HOUR SPECIALS" I looked forward to the big deal after work. Well, I wasn't impressed. Same standard pub fare. Slightly overpriced. And the five people this side of the kitchen (including staff)? None of them looked very happy. I can walk from my house here. And I do so every year or so. I just wish they would take a hint from the Rivers Reach, the Union Jack or any of a handful of other New West pubs and give us a reason to not head over the bridge. read more

Been here quite a few times, temporarily working close by, food is good, liked it until my last experience just now moderately busy, seen it even more hopping and never had this happen. Sit at the bar had the server before only have tipped her above 15% in the past. 5 minutes pass she comes takes my beer order I ask for a menu 10 minute still no beer also if I don't get my food order in I'll be late getting back to work, wait for her settle up the women next to me still nothing not even a oh sorry I'm busy give me a minute. Nice location right on the river and that's why chose to come here for a Sunday lunch on this sunny December day. $4 Caesars and they're good, nothing fancy but just how I like them in a tall glass. Santa Fe chicken salad was a fresh, tasty and good sized with lots of greens, cheese, avocado, and spicy, but not too spicy, chicken and jalopenos; ask for your salsa and sour cream on the side. Beef dip and fries were devoured, service was good, no complaints! This is a decent pub, clean and comfortable, and we'll go back, probably try a burger next time as they looked great. read more

First time back in 20 years. Very disappointing dinner. My wife said the fish tacos were worst she's ever had. Fish very thin, all dried out and tough. Lettuce was brown. The taco shell was dried out and somewhat hardened. I had the potato skins and beef yorkies. Skins were nearly devoid of cheese and had no flavor. The yorkshire puddings were tiny and tasteless and this was the first time I had yorkies that were stuffed with potato before a couple of thin slices of beef on top. Scooped out most of the potato, but it didn't help. Watched the help clean one of the tables after a visitor left and wondered if they had read any Covid-19 rules. Cursory swipe at best. Just a bad night all around. Won't be going back and wouldn't recommend it to anybody. read more

I was a regular customer who had spent thousands of dollars entertaining business clients for lunch at Tugboat Annie's....that is, until one night when I had forgotten my wallet. Upon asking the waitress if it would be alright if I dropped by the next day to pay my tab, she told me that I should go and get it immediately. Her only concern was her own pathetic welfare. There was no recognition of having been a good customer, the generous tips long forgotten and the significant contribution I was making to the coffers. The trolop made me feel like crap. Not being the type to bear a grudge, I went back after a couple of months with a friend for dinner and a drink. After about 30 minutes it became obvious that we were being ignored. So, I went to the cash to pay for the drinks (two Mike's Hard lemonades at $15!) and to let them know how impressed I was with the service. The waitress said I had been rude to her last time. Evidently, she had not forgotten and was paying me out! What a sense of entitlement! Well, Tugboat Annie, you win. Low class waitress. Mideocre food. Tugboat Annie's Grille is a great little pub in Richmond at the end of Graybar road. Most of the customers work in the local boat yards and marinas. The staff here are all very friendly and attentive making sure that you always have everything you require. The food here is very good and they have daily specials to keep things interesting. My recommendation for food is either the Chicken and Chorizo Quesadilla and/or the French Onion Soup! These two are very tasty and I had both there once lunch. Man was I stuffed. read more

Go for drinks, the food is ..... intermittent. We have lived close to here for 4 years and used to go almost every week. Good specials on pints, great wings, down home neighbourhood pub atmosphere. My husband and I found this lovely gem, tucked on the banks of the Fraser River. It is a Saturday night ritual Prime Rib special for him and I've eaten pretty much everything on the menu and moved it all. The wait staff are great, quick with refills and bleating dishes. I ordered the fish tacos and the cod was completely raw, they must have forgotten to cook it. The waitress never came back to check on us so I went and found her. She sent it back to the kitchen and after half an hour I still didn't have a meal and my friend was done eating and the waitress never once came back to give me an update or see if we wanted anything. So eventually we went to the ktichen to ask for our bill and find out what happened to my lunch. The waitress said it wasn't her fault and the kitchen staff our terrible. So I got my food to go and it wasn't even good tasting. A few hours later my friend was sick, and I think it is safe to assume it was from this place. Terrible service and terrible food. read more

Great place stopped in and had the Poboy I was awesome the server was pretty cool and the Bartender was funny they kept me entertained as my friend and I had lunch my friend had the chefs Salad it was great, lots of stuff on it. Hidden gem in Richmond. Small and intimate with great food and excellent view. The regulars at night mostly lives close by, and a very friendly crowd. Also makes it very safe. No pool tables or anything but they do have an electronics dart board that lets you play people around the world. read more

I never knew this place existed....and now I can't wait to go back. It is right along the Fraser River and if you go on a nice sunny day you can sit on their patio overlooking the water. They have a nice indoor patio, and tons of places to sit inside on colder/rainy days. Probably the best pub food in Richmond if you choose the right dishes. The chef makes specials every day and I would recommend those each time...an exeption can be made for the salmon entree. Friendly staff, good atmosphere. I left a good tip cause I plan to be back.
