Delicious dinner! Our family of five stopped for dinner on a Saturday night during our vacation. Three of us had the pot roast, one had the BBQ pork sandwich and one had grilled cheese. Pot roast was so tender, it fell apart. The portion was huge! BBQ was delicious, grilled cheese was good. Our waitress was very friendly, food was prepared quickly. Let me start out by saying that my husband nor I are picky eaters at all and will normally eat everything on our plates but we could not eat this food. The slaw was the prepackaged deli kind that my husband nor I could eat. When the waitress brought my order of fried trout I asked for lemon and tartar sauce. She brought some prepackaged tartar sauce that tasted awful and said they were out of lemons and had been for 3 days!!!! They serve fried trout, grilled trout and fried catfish and were out of lemon!! You would think someone would have gone to the grocery store and gotten enough to hold them over until their order came in! When we eat fast food we expect condiments that come in small packages, but don't appreciate them at a sit-down dinner that we're paying good money for. The waitress offered to let us go to the salad bar since we couldn't eat the slaw. The small salad bar with iceberg lettuce and large chunks of onions and green peppers and packaged salad dressing did not look appealing -no thanks! A good restaurant should have quality sauces and dressings. We will not be back and definitely do not recommend it. (Should have listened to the lady we rented the bnb from. Excellent fried green tomatoes: crispy and tasty. BBQ pork sandwich and cheesy broccoli soup. The soup tasted canned, but the sandwich was as outstanding as the fried tomatoes. Cozy , country ambiance and friendly, efficient staff. Definitely worth returning! Returned after Thanksgiving and not disappointed! The food was prepared very well. The trout was excellent, and the pot roast was excellent as well. It's a very family oriented restaurant.

Went here last week for dinner, just getting around to writing the review. Skip entirely. When we got there, the waitress told us they were out of a few things. By the time we were able to order, half the menu was unavailable. No kids menu whatsoever (which wouldn't have been a big deal had all of their pasta dishes been unavailable). Our waitress was really inattentive. We don't need much but when my husband needed to stand at the hostess stand to get our check and we STILL didn't get helped, you know it's pretty bad. Instead, our waitress was too busy gossiping in the kitchen with other employees. The other employee noticed my husband but made no effort to get our waitress' attention or help us. We had a group of nine come in after a day of hiking and seeing waterfalls. Wait was about an hour, but not surprising in these times. Our waitress was polite and got all of our orders right. The ribeye was out, so they let my husband have two sirloins instead. Everything was delicious, but my favorite were the mashed potatoes. They were wonderful!! We had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer, and the table had a smorgasbord from the menu including steaks, pot roast, pork, chicken, and a cheesesteak. We ate all of it! We were in Townsend for a little get away and decided to eat here. We don't live far away and have eaten here many times. This time however was the worst. We got seated started out ok. We waited for about 15 minutes and got our appetitizers in. We waited about 30 more minutes for our food. I ordered the rib eye medium but when it came out it was still mooing it was rare very rare. My wife ordered a sirloin and it looked like beef jerky. The mac and cheese was ok but the macaroni was cooked a little to much. Not going to go back it took 2 hours to do the meal. Totally love this place! My husband and I came here five years ago on our first trip to Tennessee, and we made sure to return this time. It was just as good as I had remembered. The atmosphere in here, it's like you're at somebody's house for dinner. The staff is all super friendly and you sit at dining room tables. I had the pot roast and my husband had a burger, both were amazing. I have to say this is probably the best pot roast I've ever had in my life. Sweet tea was also just as good as I remembered! We had to our breakfast here every morning while here on vacation for the 4th of July. We have been here multiple times while vacationing in Townsend. As always the food was excellent. The service was good and the prices were reasonable. The only odd thing, which I don't remember from previous visits was that food was served on paper plates. Drinks served in plastic cups. All those in our party had a variety of food: grilled pork chops, fried catfish Poboy, open faced roast beef, pot roast and veggies, spaghetti and meatballs. Peach cobbler was really good! Prices were averaging $10.99 to $17.99 per plate. However, you get a large portion of food. The primary negative is that they have NO kids menu. My husband and I had breakfast here and really enjoyed it. I had the pancake combo with bacon, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. Their pancakes are fantastic - fluffy and light with just a bit of a crispy edge. My husband had the Riverstone breakfast with toast, sausage, fried eggs, and hash browns. Everything was great. Our server was Bill. He was very attentive and friendly. You could tell all of the staff worked hard to make sure you had a nice meal. We were happy to see a tip jar up front for the cooks working hard in the back. They got our food out really quickly. We will go back the next time we are in Townsend. read more

I am so mad at myself for not having visited this restaurant up until 2 years ago . We have been coming to this area for 50 years . I went there specifically for liver and onions. If you've never had them or never liked them before, this is the place to try them again. The rest of my group got barbecue pork and one also got open face roast beef sandwich . Everybody was absolutely thrilled with the quality of their meal and the quantity. Even though we knew from experience it was going to be good, as we walked in a couple was coming out and started giving us a testimonial on the food themselves. The service was great and friendly as well. It isn't fancy from the outside but inside it is quite homey and clean. If you are dying for awesome home cooking and you are in Pigeon Forge or in Gatlinburg take a half hour and drive over to Townsend and eat at the Riverstone restaurant in Townsend. People were nice and service was good. Maybe I chose the wrong thing from the menu. I picked the Philly cheesesteak since it was recommended by the waitress. It wasn't bad. The greenbeans were good. My kids got the chicken fingers and the other got catfish. I tried the chicken fingers and they were good. My son said the fish was really good. People inside were not wearing masks so just be aware of that is a concern of yours. I'm giving a very good because of the service. I would give this place another chance. read more

Only tried this place after receiving a recommendation from our server at The Black Bear Cafe. She said we'd never stop there on our own and she was right. It just doesn't jump out at you as you drive through town. This is a mom and pop shop and it looks like family members probably help run the place. Personally, I like that. We were hungry for breakfast before starting a day exploring Cade's Cove and other points of interest. Turns out, we had the BEST breakfast we've had in TN since moving here in 2018, and I'm not exaggerating at all. I like pancakes, but they're usually heavy, overdone, and/or kind of tasteless. Not at this wonderful place! These were the freshest, lightest and best tasting pancakes I've ever had. The eggs and bacon were perfect and we left very happy to have taken the suggestion to have breakfast here. Pancakes usually leave me ready for a nap because of their heaviness. These just didn't do that. My wife agreed that we have to make this a regular stop when we visit Townsend or the surrounding area. Try it, you will love it! read more

I'm a local and went this past Sunday. My wife and I both got omelets, sides of bacon, and coffees (no other side cause doing Keto). Our bill, for 2 people FOR BREAKFAST came to $41 and we waited easily 30 to 45 minutes for our food!!! The prices have obviously increased recently (catering to price gouging incoming tourists). This quaint restaurant is located in Townsend, Tennessee. Their menu offers the best variety of what I consider comfort food. Nothing fancy, just great home style meals from roast beef to fried fish. After a few hours of river rafting or tubing, something here should definitely satisfy the appetite- it did for us! I ordered the chicken fried steak with sweet corn and fried okra. Portion size was just right and everything cooked to perfection! My daughter ordered the southern roast beef with a side of pinto beans (she loves beans) and fried okra (cannot decide which she loves more) and she was not disappointed either! The roast beef had large chunks of shredded beef, carrots, onions, potatoes, and green beans. She eats like a high school football player trying to weigh up, and when she was done, there was a whole second serving remaining! My husband had to try the trout, which we read was the locally prized catch in these mountains. He chose sides of green beans and the loaded baked potato- he was very satisfied with his choice and left not a crumb on his plate. The highlight for him was the sweet tea, which he normally does not drink. However, three refills in and a cup to-go later, he will have their tea whenever we find ourselves in this areas again. The food here is decent and they have a solid breakfast. For the area it's probably one of the best places to eat because the options are slim. That being said, the staff appears to have just rolled out of bed before coming in and don't seem very professional. The prices ain't bad and the portion sizes are good so you won't leave hungry. Very solid breakfast. I had the eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and biscuit. The biscuit was especially good--slight crunch on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
