We had always seen this restaurant on the corner, but never went. So, I surprised my sister by taking her to this cute lil' place in Guntersville for her birthday. Made reservations..glad I did. Beautiful weather calls for sitting outside. They just need umbrellas for all of the tables. Not just the +4 tables. We had a good friendly waitress. We enjoyed a tasty bowl of tomato bisque. Sister had to try their friend green tomatoes, which I don't eat. They did look delish..and she did enjoy. I wish I could have checked out the inside more other than running in to the restroom. We were looking for a new place to try and decided to make the reservations for Valentine's Day. We booked the 7:30pm Seating. The restaurant was adorable. Atmosphere was quaint and romantic The special event menu was 4 courses with an option for each course and a glass of champagne per person. I chose the Italian wedding soup, salmon, Caesar salad, and chocolate cake. All of the dishes were fantastic. I also tried their red velvet martini and that was dangerously good. Couple things I didn't really like was having to lay in advance including 20% tip. This meant we also still had to lay for drinks that we had once we were there too. Made a reservation for brunch on a Wednesday. Arrived right on time at 11, basically opening time, and we were the first people to be seated with no line. Within 20 minutes they were full! On a Wednesday! Anyway, the atmosphere is rustic and charming, service was very pleasant and the staff seem to be right on point. We ordered lavender mimosas-they were especially good. Our entrees ranged from salads to sandwiches, which we all enjoyed. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. We were staying on Lake Guntersville for a week & just happened to drive by the Rock House our last day there while out getting coffee. I called to see if I could make a reservation for that evening (for 6 people) but they were all booked up. About 5 mins after I called, I got a call back from Bo (THE nicest man)! letting me know he was revising their reservation list, that they had a large party cancel & that they could get us in at 5pm. I'm SO glad he called back because OMG the food was UNREAL. The service was amazing, the atmosphere is insanely quaint & welcoming. He greeted us (& everyone else at the door), checked in on us when we were leaving & made sure everything was up to par. And it was...& then some! The tables are on top of each other, and we were sat right next to another table when the back room of the restaurant was WIDE OPEN. Also, our service was kinda abrupt and inconsistent. The table next to us (RIGHT next to us) received a bread board, and we did not. I even ordered soup... no bread or crackers. Odd. Coconut added a good sweet taste. Unfortunately the shrimp was way under cooked. Side salad with balsamic dressing was good. Really likes the dressing, good flavor, creamish. For dinner I had the special fish. Blackened, really good. Cooked well. Had a side of vegetables and another side of carrots. Vegtables were cold, carrots were burnt but had good flavor. The pros: Varied menu Kind and courteous staff They take reservations, which is good in such a cramped space The cons: Limited parking The varied menu...isn't so great, at least for lunch The restaurant is packed, so you have to wait outside for your table--regardless if you have a reservation, it's cold, and/or it's inclement weather They served me a rotten--like black and moldy--grape tomato in my salad, which makes me question their produce and quality control The "hand pattied" burger was okay, but there was no option to order it to temperature which makes me question their beef The lower level room we ate in smelled overwhelmingly like mildew, and you had to walk through the kitchen to get there Of note: this is not a handicap friendly restaurant (not a big deal for us, but might be for you), parking is a chore, and bathrooms were clean-ish but oddly located (it is a converted house after all). read more

Can't believe I haven't gotten around to writing a review for the Rock House. I've been maybe 5-6 times now, and each time except for one has been absolutely delicious! The one outlier was only "pretty good," which still makes for a satisfying dining experience. Although the seating is a little cramped and the restaurant is always busy, it's still cool and cozy inside. Lunch consists mostly of imaginative sandwiches and pizzas; dinner is more upscale with steaks. Brunch is absolutely a treat!! I've never been for dinner, but my parents went for their anniversary and said the steak they had was among the best ever. The staff also left them a lovely anniversary card, too, which is a great touch. The one time I went for brunch, I had this French toast dish that was actually mind blowing. Cinnamony toast, pecans, and maple syrup. It was cooked perfectly, melted in my mouth, and was perfectly portioned. Otherwise, I've gone for lunch. I always get the chicken bacon ranch sandwich, but I've also tried their pizzas. My party always splits the fried green beans. This time, the chipotle sauce was a little hotter than usual. Still, the dish is always perfectly crispy, and the beans taste super fresh and snappy. The CBR is always succulent and juicy, with real applewood smoked bacon. SO yummy. The fries that I usually get with it aren't my favorite fries ever, but they are unique -- a different type of breading, I'm guessing tempura, gives them a more distinct flavor than other fries. I like them well enough, though sometimes I'd rather just go with a plain salty French fry. Oh well. I recently had a bite of the spinach, chicken, and artichoke pizza, and it was also delicious. So much ooey, gooey cheese. And no dry chicken! Yay! My boyfriend also really loved his burger. Service has been excellent most times. Once, at brunch, we had a server who was a bit of an oversharer...but every other time, they've been incredibly professional, polite, unobtrusive, and helpful. A final tip: if they have the peach cobbler, do not under any circumstances hesitate to get it. You can thank me later. read more

The best dinner in Guntersville. I had the catch of the day, redfish in a garlic cream sauce, with rice and sauteed spinach. It was so pleasant to have fresh fish. My wife had the filet, perfectly cooked and flavorful. We shared a decadent piece of chocolate mocha cake for dessert. Seating is available inside with good A/C and nice art work, or outside on the patio - At this time of year, we chose inside due to the weather. Service by Ashley T was professional, and supported by other team members. Pricing is quite reasonable, averaging less than $40/person all-in. The drive up the mountain was beautiful. The view is spectacular! The restaurant has a warm cozy ambiance. There's a lot of places to sit, inside and out, each seating area has a wonderful view, especially outside. The Mountainous view continues as far as you can see. The handcrafted beer is light and not over powering, as some might be. Had the IPA and the Red ale. For an appetizer had the artichoke in a bread bowl, the bread was home made and the dip was tasty. For dinner we had the 6 oz filet and it was just enough, cooked perfectly with mash potatoes and asparagus. Also had the blackend Mahi-mahi, it wasn't overly seasoned and it was cooked to perfection with Farro pilaf, avocado salsa, pico de gallo, arugula, lemon oil, grilled asparagus. After having a TERRIBLE meal the night before at Wentzells Oyster House in Guntersville, we decided to try out The Rockhouse Eatery the next night. We started out with The lime drizzled coconut shrimp appetizer and it was fabulous! 10/10! Then we shared a large Citrus pecan goat cheese salad and I have to say it was one of the best salads I've ever had in my life!! Also 10/10! Then I had the bone in rib-eye 16 oz and the chef cooked it PERFECTLY and it was slathered with a garlic herbed butter and touched with fresh rosemary , just Devine!! My garlic mashed potatoes were a dream and my Stir fryer Veges ( squash, zucchini, onion and red bell pepper), we're delicious, Perfectly seasoned a cooked! My daughter raved over her swordfish and her asparagus and potatoes were also wonderful she said. The swordfish ( I tasted a bite) was so tender and mildly sweet and buttery tasting it was fantastic. We ended this awesome meal with a piece of chocolate cake that was grand also! We will for SURE eat here every single time that we're in Guntersville!! And when I think that we could have eaten here the night before when we suffered through an awful mess of a dinner at Wentzells Oyster House I just cringe!!! read more
