I was there last night with my friend celebrating her birthday, we both ordered dozen each of raw oysters and Hot shrimp and crab dip with chips, it was delicious and the oysters are very fresh and sweet, we are so full that we can't even eat the delicious bread with butter, the finale, The Big Mike's 24oz Ribeye my favorite! 3.5/5 My visit to Big Mike's was in September to celebrate my Dad's birthday. They are in a nice location (City Harbor) with seating inside and out. The food wasn't seasoned to my liking, however, there were several tables who looked more than pleased with their selections. Quality was great, portions were a nice size, service was friendly. I can't remember what my family ordered but I ordered the featured fish and the ribeye with a baked potato and Caesar salad. The likelihood of me trying them again is very slim because I don't live in the area. I don't regret going and I do encourage others to try them out. This was our first time eating at Big Mikes. Upon entering the restaurant was extremely smokey. We later found out the vent hood had malfunction allowing the restaurant to fill with smoke. Luckily we were the last party to be seated before they decided to close. The food was pretty good. I didn't care for the crab/shrimp dip. The cheese was too thick and I really think they brought us the wrong dish anyway. I didn't see any crab or shrimp, it appeared to be steak. The server assured us it was the seafood dip. I want to preface with this is a difficult review because when you put the service aside the food was great. We waited an hour and forty minutes for a table, which wasn't a big deal, we were told 2 hours up front. However, the problem came when we were seated (about 7:35PM) It took about 10 minutes for anyone to come to our table for drink orders. Once our waitress came she took our drinks and appetizer orders. We had the shrimp and crab dip, which didn't take too long to come out, it was very good. We both ordered steaks for our meals (around 7:45). After an hour we were told by the waitress that she was sorry it was taking so long that she didn't put the order in as soon as she should have. Well, at 9:05PM we finally received our food. In my opinion an hour and a half is unacceptable in any situation. Especially when we ordered as soon as we were given the opportunity. Now, the food was very good. Based on food alone I'd give it an easy 5 star. I don't want to hide that, great food. It does bother me a lot though that the only thing we were offered was free dessert. We had to ask them to just take our appetizer off instead since we didn't want dessert. Personally, this seems like a half off meal situation. It seems wrong to pay more than $100 for a meal that you waited overall 3 hours for counting the wait time outside. Besides the hostess , we had a great experience at Big Mike's Steakhouse. When we entered the establishment, the hostess immediately asked "how many?" She didn't smile.. she didn't greet us. Her tone was unfriendly. She sat us down and didn't let us know who would be serving us. Maybe she was just having a day. Besides this unpleasant situation, we were immediately greeted by our awesome waitress (drawing a blank on her name, but that day she worked outside). She was super friendly, patient, and very attentive. She had quite a few tables, but despite this, we didn't have to ask for anything besides to go boxes. Now that's great service! We ended up splitting the 'Big Mike' steak with baked potatoes and side salads. We also ordered sautéed crab claws. Omg!! Both dishes were so delicious. Each dish was well prepared and seasoned...served hot. For the food alone, I would definitely come back and visit but our waitress was just the 'cherrt on top.' read more

Went here vacationing in Guntersville. The city harbor location is beautiful with panoramic views. We had a broad selection. Appetizers filet bites and wickles fired pickles. Both were loved by all. Hubs had the big Mike and I had the top sirloin. The steaks were cooked to proper or for medium and medium rare. Chicken salad looked good as well. Son loved their fried chicken tenders which were huge. Honestly we probably won't get their steaks again. They were good but mine was heavily marinated or seemed that way. The hubs and I both elected we would probably get an order of steak bites with a side salad next time. Our server (Gabby) was excellent throughout our meal. What could be improved?Parking, for one. This place has limited parking for the number of venues available. Only 5 handicapped spots and all were full. Design of the structure provides no shade or shelter for inclement weather. Our mistake was trying to enjoy dinner on a Saturday at 5:30 pm. The staff said the wait was 1:45 minutes. Why bother?! Perhaps a valet parking arrangement would alleviate this issue. Also, it seems that understaffing is an issue. We viewed empty tables. Pay more to staff to get full employment. read more

We lucked out and were able to get the last outdoor table overlooking the lake. It was a beautiful day which made the meal 5x better. But really, the food was great - we enjoyed the fried crab claws so much we ordered it twice! Their house Bavarian bread was amazing! Everyone in our party enjoyed their dinner. Great price point for the amount of food we got. Our server was very busy but she did a great job balancing the outdoor tables. The shrimp appetizer was ok, a nod to "bang bang shrimp" but not nearly as well coated in sauce, just kinda drizzled on top. I ordered the gumbo which was the soup of the day, not good at all. I ate a few bites to give it a chance. The rice was crunchy and dried out somewhat. The steak was ok. Not $60 worthy by any means. We ordered the large ribeye to share, the soup of the day, onion straws (very good), Cajun rice, baked potato and broccoli. We are new to the area and everybody told us Big Mike's is THE place. So we went on a Thursday afternoon as soon as they opened. We started with the fried mushrooms and they were hot and delicious. The bread with the cinnamon butter was really good. My wife had the red fish, bronzed with the potato casserole. I had the pork prime rib with a baked potato. My wife's fish was hot and really spicy. Sadly the potato casserole was cold. My pork was over seasoned and very spicy. The baked potato was hot and very good. We had ample leftovers but didn't take any home. We had two glasses of house wine, a red and a white, neither was very good. Our waitress was very sweet and did a good job of taking care of us. Big Mike's does not take reservations or have a waiting list so I suggest you get there early if you do not want to wait in line. However, the wait will be well worth it. My wife and I ordered the 24 ounce Ribeye and shared it and with a very reasonable up charge you can order your choice of 2 sides each. I've had my share of ribeyes, but this particular ribeye hits a little different from all the other steakhouses I've been to. The flavor was excellent. This steak had a nice size cap on the end that was full of flavor, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The service was great. I was able to get my food within 10 to 15 minutes after I ordered, which is almost unheard of these days. I'm usually not a bread eater, but that brown bread and that sweet butter it came with nearly put me in a coma.
