Oh my Patrick, you are amazing and so is your amazing locally owned and operated Market. Not only…read moredo you have a wonderful selection of meat, the steak we picked up you cut for us to our desired thickness. So you are looking for a huge steak, or a wicked good deal on chicken breast, or actually those square lunchroom pizzas from your child hood memory, Guess where you go, Patrick's. Yes, crispitos, cheese sticks, Mexican pizza, square pepperoni pizza, you name it, and they have it (unless they are sold out). But don't kid yourself, you really have to come here for the steaks, some of the most tender cut of beef I have ever eaten. All steaks are cut to a 1 inch diameter that is in the meat case, but you can request 2 inch cut or 3 inch cut, whichever your heart desires. And 2 inches of a NY Strip or ribeye with the correct seasoning and grilling method. Amazing! We got to meet Patrick, he was actually the one who asked us if he could help us find anything and shared a little bit about the market. We asked if we could get some steaks cut and he was more than enthusiastic to help us. Our special request and within seconds Patrick's disappears to the back to cut our requested order. Exceptional service, amazing values. They also have a seafood case (we didn't try but almost got some scallops because they look amazing). We will definitely be back,we will drive out of our way to purchase here and get amazing steaks. You are definitely missing out if you don't go here at least once.

Visited for lunch on Thursday and was unfortunately sorely disappointed…read more I arrived at about 12:45 and found a fairly full parking lot. The lot is a little torn up but not too bad. It's easy to get in and out. Walked around to the front and stood in the entryway for a few minutes. Didn't know the protocol since it was my first visit. Eventually, a waitress said loudly from the drink machine to seat myself, so I selected an empty booth near the kitchen. There's a lot of seating inside. I'd say the restaurant was about 1/3 full. Idk where people park when they're at capacity lol. Waitress came over and somewhat incredulously asked if I was by myself, which I confirmed. She pushed a scrap of white paper in front of me and told me to circle what I wanted and she'd pick it up. Eh...okay. It was a limited menu of meat + 3 combinations. They advertise breakfast till 1 as well as burgers and sandwiches but none of that was on there. However, the waitress' demeanor can only be described as frosty, and fortunately I was okay with my choices, so I kept to myself. But a part of me was kind of curious about breakfast for lunch. Alas. She returned with my tea wordlessly and swiped up my slip with my order. I circled a fried chicken breast with "potato patties" and fried okra. The sweet tea was the best thing I had and I enjoyed drinking it while I waited for my food. No refills or to go cups were ever offered though. I will grant the food came out fairly fast...but it also came out cold. Well, the chicken and potatoes were approximating room temperature, but the okra wasn't even lukewarm. My grouchy waitress also didn't give me any silverware and ran off before I could ask for any. I had to hunt down a different, only marginally less grouchy waitress so I could eat my food with a fork. It's a shame the okra was cold because it had a hint of potential; the breading was sort of cornmeal-y and might have once been crispy. As it was, it wasn't good at all -- the cold okra got slimy. The chicken was passable but also not nearly hot enough. The breading also needed more seasoning. The potato patties were...not patties? I was expecting something like a Jojo (small crispy potato round, thicker than a chip) or at least something circular lol, but instead I got two scoops of a sort of whipped potato casserole. This would've also been alright except it was lukewarm and, even worse, absolutely replete with still-crunchy large pieces of onion. Couldn't get a mouthful without them and left with much smellier breath. The one redeeming factor other than the tea was the bread basket: two yeast rolls and a hunk of cornbread. The cornbread was awful (bland and dry), but the yeast rolls were soft and warm and about the only food item I legitimately enjoyed -- even though, once again, my waitress left me hanging with no butter. I really couldn't wait to get out as I felt terribly unwelcome, so as soon as I ate what I could stomach I went to the marginally less unfriendly waitress and paid at the register. The price was decent (~$15 before tip). I did still tip, but I was salty -- legitimately some of the worst service I've had in a long time. I'm forgiving of long wait times and forgotten stuff, but I really don't like callous attitudes when I do my best to be pleasant and accommodating. Definitely wouldn't return. 2 stars because the food was edible and the place was clean enough. The hunt for a decent lunch in Scottsboro continues.

The overall feel of the diner was an old school classic mom and pops place. If you are looking for a local joint with good food, this would be it. We went for breakfast, it was great.

Chips and salsa were brought to the table without having to ask, which is always a welcome touch. Service was attentive considering there was only one server handling the floor. Props to them for keeping things running smoothly. The food was middle-of-the-road -- not the best Mexican I've had, but certainly not the worst either. If you're looking for a solid, no-surprises meal, it'll do the job. The atmosphere is actually one of the highlights. It's a nice bar setting, well-lit, and wasn't overly loud during our early visit -- easy to hold a conversation, which isn't always a given at a bar. Now, the restrooms could use some attention. They're a bit dated and in need of updating. I did get a chuckle out of the handwashing requirement sign posted prominently on the wall -- right next to the one soap dispenser that happened to be completely empty. It makes you wonder how closely that policy is actually enforced. Overall, La Cabaña by JUAN is a fine spot for drinks and a casual bite. Just maybe bring your own hand sanitizer.

It's a humble restaurant, the inside isn't going to wow you - cabin like appearance and very simple seating. And you can smell the smoke as you pull up. I lucked out with Holy Smokes. I've been to a couple barbeque places in Scottsboro, and this is my favorite so far. The parking lot is a little bumpy / pot-holey so be careful pulling in. I rolled into the restaurant and immediately felt that this was a local-type spot. The man operating the cash register was engaged in a very friendly, familiar conversations with someone eating there. However, he paused his conversation immediately when I walked up to him and taught me about the different sauces they offered. I'm glad he did, because I definitely have bbq sauce preferences, and he steered me in the right direction! Their fairly large menu is handwritten on the board behind the register, but I opted for a lunch deal they had running - a small pulled pork sandwich with chips and a drink for only $5!! Now granted, it was a small sandwich -- if you were starving you'd likely need a little something extra -- but for how delicious the sandwich was and for that cheap, you really can't do much better than that! The pulled pork itself was really, really good - honestly some of the best bbq I've had in north Alabama. Tender, moist, moderately smoky, not too fatty. Really, really good stuff. The sweet sauce the man at the register set me up with was good too, also faintly smoky and tangy on top of the usual sweet tomato flavor. It was a delicious sandwich, and the sweet tea I got was good too, though maybe not quite sweet enough for me. I plan on coming back with family so we can try some of their other bbq. If the pork stays consistent and the other stuff is even 75% as good, this could definitely be a 5 star spot. Check it out if you're in the area!
