This review isn't for Eddie - It's for Daniel Silva. Daniel is the new tattoo artist in the back room in The Rock Zone. Daniel has been there since the middle of May, 2015 and has completely changed the atmosphere in the best way possible. Daniel has refurnished the back- adding a nice couch with a nice display of his art. The least I can say is that it has turned this place into a very comfy, professional tattoo shop. I've had a couple tattoos done by a couple different artists. Daniel has been the best by far! I highly recommend Daniel Silva at The Rock Zone if you are in the Gilroy area. The place is well know to locals & is a really cool what i call 'fringe lifestyle' shop. I've gotten a few piercings here but the latest would be my nose again-had it once but the jewelry fell out while sleeping & I let that one close. Anyway... The owners a super awesome chill guy & the younger guy that works there always makes it a pleasant visit. It's your typical head shop...if your into smoking & it's paraphernalia. I grew up in Morgan Hill and Gilroy, and the Rock Zone is most well equipped smoking accessory shop for miles. Eddie, the owner, is super friendly and very helpful. I visit there maybe once or twice a year there when visiting Gilroy now, and he still remembers me and asks how I am doing. They have a wide variety of pipes, water pipes (I like that they have/had a lot of HVY glass brand), vaporizers, and other smoking utensils as well as plenty of body jewelry, posters, t-shirts, black lights, pornography, fairy/dragon statues, and I think you can by a tazer there too, if you feel so inclined. They have a bunch of random stuff that is basically typical of a head shop. They used to perform body piercing there as well as tattoo art, but I am not sure if they still do. The thing I like about Eddie's shop is that he really has a monopoly for the area (for what he is selling) and he doesn't over price all crazily. read more

I got a belly button piercing in July of 2018 do not remember the name of the piercer. My belly button got infected. I was then using antibacterial soap but it didn't work. Don't get any piercings here unless if you want an infection. read more

Super friendly place! Got a tattoo from Daniel the other day and no regrets. I've been looking for an amazing artist for a while now and this guy is perfect. His work is consistent, he asks a million questions and he makes you feel super comfortable. All I asked for was a palm tree and what he came up with was amazing. This place is absolute trash. I've been buying jewelry from here for about a year. More recently I went in for for a lip ring stud and nose ring stud. I went in and the counter guy said they had started carrying push in lip ring studs for about a month so I bought one and two nose ring studs. The lip ring after a week turned colors! It was literally rusting! The guy said it was stainless steel surgical grade jewelry and that is not the case. The nose ring I left in the baggy which he sprayed with sea salt spray and that rusted over night. They don't return jewelry and now I know why. They aren't actually providing stainless steel surgical quality jewelry. I will NEVER buy from this shitty establishment again. I've had my piercings for 10 years and I've never had any jewelry rust. A useful resource. I got a digital scale here that I use to weigh gold/silver chains etc I find at garage sales. Head shops are also handy for finding small ziploc type bags, useful for jewelry parts, electronics parts, etc. Generally I get mine from the crafts section at wal-mart but if I get 100's of something I want to package neatly to sell and they're out of the right size, this place would be my 2nd stop. I don't smoke .... anything ..... but I love looking at the WIERD pipes! read more

This review is for Ed, did an awesome job of changing out my dermal top piercing. They have a great selection of dermal tops I was having a big issue finding an all black or close to all black one and have been to other shops with no luck. Rock Zone saved the day and it was done quickly and efficiently with minimal to no pain which is of course expected on the final twist of the dermal top. Over the phone, a guy working here informed me that the tattoo artist is available and that they would go home if I don't get a tattoo. This tells me that they were not busy and had no bookings. I called later to tell them they could go home, for I couldn't make it in. The guy tells me that the tattoo artist would be in the next day and that walk-ins are welcome. I walk-in the next day and ask about getting a tattoo. The rude woman unwelcomely asks me if I have an appt to which I reply I was told walk-ins welcome. The demeanor, tone, and face of the woman was extremely rude for this type of establishment. She has me speak to the tattoo artist and he tells me he's booked for entire week. I told him I needed a simple piece and he tells me in an arrogant tone that those take a long time. He had nobody in the tattoo chair, and there was only one customer in the store seemingly waiting to be assisted. My ride had already left by the time I learned I wouldn't be getting tatted, so I asked the woman for the WiFi so I could get a ride. I was met with another rude "no." As if being completely misled wasn't enough, the staff is horribly unprofessional and unwelcoming and I was left without a ride. I spent my tattoo money at the nice spa in the shopping center instead, for I needed stress relief after experiencing this. I told my friends I see why they're rated only 3.5 stars. read more

I was in here a few days ago to get a tattoo from Daniel Silva. Not gonna lie, I was kinda nervous because of the negative reviews towards him, but I ended up having a really good experience. Daniel explained everything he was going to do before doing it, and warned me before starting on certain areas that are known to be more painful. He periodically checked in with me to make sure I was doing okay, offered me water, held a conversation, etc etc. He was also pretty light handed - I've been tattooed by people who really just dig in to your skin and he didn't do that, the pain was pretty minimal. Basically everything that you could hope for from a tattoo artist, he delivered on. I was kind of confused because a lot of people said that he was really rude and stuff, but he was very nice to me. Daniel is very unapologetically himself and not afraid to say what's on his mind, which might rub some people the wrong way. But I had no problem with that and thought he seemed like a very nice person. I would have no problem coming back and getting tattooed from him again, and would definitely recommend him to others as well. His work really is amazing. Also, the other people in the shop were really friendly. As soon as I walked in they asked how they could help me, and then walked me to the back where the tattoo room is. She fought and fought to have it just exchanged. And it wasn't until I went in with her that they finally did. . Members of my family, and many of my friends have worked here in the past. He normally has great people working at the shop, The latest set of employees are terrible though. I take customer service very seriously, they don't seem to care at all about it. For the burnout looking girl that is always there with a stick up her ass, drop the I'm better than you attitude. You work at a ghetto head shop, and you deal withpot heads, crack heads, crack whores, tweakers, meth dealers, coke heads, and drug runners. Your nothing special, so get over yourself. alright so i first went in to get two middle lip piercings and one was crooked so i went back and the man redid one for free so i'm not sure how to feel the staff are very kind and it's a very friendly environment but i wouldn't have had to go back if the piercing hadn't been uneven in the first place. in any case i love my lip piercings and they healed perfectly and have never gotten infected very sanitary would recommend going if ur only getting one piercing that day read more

This place is awesome!! Went in to trade my horse shoe piercings to fish tales.. Eddie changed them for me no problem.. I left and went to eat and they fell out so I called the shop to see if I can get them readjusted they said yes no problem. I ended up getting ones with flat back. Thanks for the help today! I learned how to better heat my piece for a better smoke. This is definitely where I'll be coming when I upgrade my rig or need tools and advice. And really, you should consider classes. I'd pay $5 or $10 to learn better methods for cleaning my piece, and probably drop money on some new accessory while I'm there. I visited Daniel in late 2016 to book a date in Nov 2017, paid his $200 deposit and was good to go. Come mid 2017, his assistant tells me Daniel is postponing my tattoo to 04/12/2018. Cool...So I wait. Meanwhile no communication whatsoever from Daniel. Then come 03/28/18, a week or so before my appointment, Daniel sends a message to text him. That very day my dog died. I was distraught. He asked me if I wanted to cancel and I said if that's my only option. And he cancelled me JUST LIKE THAT. I did not have time to think nor did he work with me. He cancelled my appointment, took my $200 and never spoke to me again after I tried repeatedly to get in touch and waited almost two years for him to tattoo me. read more
