Saw a bong I really liked, had two price tags on it. One said 200, one said 250$. Guy at the counter Carlos said it was 250, couldn't drop it lower. I really wanted the piece, so I paid it, and went home. Cashier forgot to include downstem and bowl piece in bag, but I keep spares so I used it, loved it and decided to see if the glass blowers had a website, which they did. The bong I bought from rock zone for $250, which was marked 200$, was being sold online by the glass blowers for 160, plus 10$ for shipping. They also charge a 4 PERCENT fee for using credit card. Not a 4$ fee. A 4% fee. So my 250$ purchase has an additional 10$. Super shady business practices. I could have returned it, they did offer that option, but they said not to use it and I had already, and since it really is a terrific piece I am eating my lost $ , but I doubt I'll ever spend another dime at rock zone. read more

I went into Rock Zone today. I'm very skeptical of headshops these days because none of them ever mask up. Like zero mask whatsoever. But to my surprise, Eddy the owner of the shop was double masked!!!!! With both masks covering his nose!!! I was shocked. It felt so nice to be able to shop in a place that cared about my well-being. The reason I went there was to buy a small bong. And he had a great selection! He let me test hit the bong with purified water and it had great function! And the price($50) was right on the money! do not, for any reason, get a piercing here. i have many piercings and i know that 80% of piercers are bad piercers but i wanted my navel done and i didn't want to drive to san jose. big mistake. he had me pick my own jewelry (first red flag). he then measured me lying down even when i asked if he could measure standing up because it will sit different (second red flag, i should've left after the first). i ended up seeing my piercer in san jose a few days later (shoutout make me wholy 10/10 ) because it wouldn't stop bleeding and was very red and swollen. she recommended i take it out. she also told me that the gauge was too small, and the bar was too short, and that it was done way too deep. please do not get pierced here; it was a nightmare i paid for and i still have a scar read more

I have been shopping here since they opened many years ago... I think the owner is one of the greatest guys ever, super nice very helpful. Unfortunately, today I had a really unpleasant experience with another worker. It was the brown haired lady wearing the red Santa cruz shirt. I myself have been in retail management for 40 years. It took her forever and she didn't know what she was looking for. I brought her in a piece that I wanted her to match that I have bought there many times from the owner. She says I think this is it... hands me a little piece of glass, wrapped in plastic. Because I had my old piece I wanted to make sure it was the right size, I asked her if I could open it..., She responded if you buy it. When I was checking out, she was rude and started to get argumentative over the $10 minimum charge for me to use my credit card, all I said, was, I wasn't aware that I come in here all the time. No problem I have cash. Then she goes on to say it's not my rules. It's written right here... I am really bummed out because I love supporting local, and I have always had a great experience with the owner of the store. unfortunately; I will not be going back into your store. I reminded the lady that was working, that she signed up for a customer service job and she should work on her attitude. She was rude and snotty. Good luck with her! This review is for Daniel Silva.  I have gotten work done by him on 3 separate occasions & was waiting for our last appointment (appt) to submit a review.  It would have been a 3-4 star review based on the work, but Daniel demonstrates time and time again how wildly UNPROFESSIONAL he is. Here is a condensed list of the pros and cons when working w/ him: Pros: -Composition of tattoos -Artistry- his tattoos can be beautiful, BUT there are now so many artists who specialize in black/grey, dotwork/pointillism AND they are more experienced AND less difficult to work with than Daniel -Pricing (Now a con)- Used to be a good deal: $100 deposit, $100 per hour rate & he said for his 6 hr appointment slots, "if you can put up with me for 4 hours, the last 2 hrs are free."  No more deal, & idk what the deposit is, but the rate is now $200/hr. One time he was nice enough to charge me less because he messed up an appt. Now when he messes up the appt, you don't get the deposit back. Cons: OH LORD so many cons, about him & his business, but let's just stick with the business side: PLACEMENT: idk if he's aware, but tattoos are permanent.  Take some time to make sure it is placed well on the body, this includes checking how the stencil moves with the body once it is placed.  Most artists place the stencil on, then have you relax, tense, move the body to see how it bends as you move it, making sure the tattoo is as stationary as possible, symmetrical, and aligned. I've had artists put the stencil on 8+ times just to ensure it is placed as close to perfect as they can. Daniel puts on the stencil, asks you how it looks & starts tattooing. My unfinished tatt with him is not aligned with my arm or the rest of the work on my arm. UNPROFESSIONAL- no ID/license/age check, no paper work or waiver, constant interruptions from potential/current clients bc he does not have an assistant &/or he only has someone to help him check emails?   The lack of an assistant in the shop or some system to schedule appropriate consultations (like the 17 other artists I have gone to), leads to bad time management, & he places the responsibility on the client. This means lost time for the appt if he shows up late, if he isn't set up for the tatt, if he has shown you the stencil for the 1st time since the consult & it isn't what you discussed, if he is rushing through a tattoo bc the smoke shop he works in is closing, leaving tattoos unfinished, doing subpar tattooing (see pic) bc it is 10:10pm and the smoke shop closes at 10pm & is asking us to leave & you rush through instead of just scheduling another appointment. Lastly on his professionalism, I'm not sure if he has a license from the county health department to tattoo?  I looked for the certification last time I was in there, but I didn't see any certifications for him, only for the piercer.   UNSANITARY- every artist I have been to will change their gloves if they touch something other than the needle, machine, ink, or client.  I have seen him pick up trash and sh*t from the ground, play with his greasy phone to change the music & show me pictures, then go back to touching the client he is working on.  UNAWARE?- he told me a story about how a girl was getting her first tattoo & she fainted, it was her first tattoo & it was a 6 hr appt.  While she was slumping over/falling out of the chair, he dragged the needle across her arm & left a permanent line & dots running down from her forearm to her hand.   Each time I have gotten work done or accompanied friends, the artist CHECKS IN WITH THEIR CLIENT, especially if it is their first tattoo.  FOR SIX HOURS.  You should maybe check in & see if they are doing ok, do they need a break, water, a snack. ARE THEY FAINTING? He also had a friend come in one time while he was working on me & they were giggling about vape pens, got distracted then knocked the entire tray over, spilling ink on himself, his friend & all over my arm.   EGO OVER CLIENTS:  My friend really liked his work & made an appt with him. I warned her that he is EXTREMELY frustrating to work with. I said if she could deal with how unprofessional he is, the work is worth it. You can see how their exchange went in another review. They had a disagreement about the design that escalated, he got upset with her & canceled my appt. He canceled my appt by messaging my friend, another client, telling her to tell me not to come. We in middle school? HE DIDN'T EVEN DIRECTLY TELL ME MY APPOINTMENT IS CANCELED (see pic).  What if I didn't get the message? I don't live in the area, I work as a program supervisor for autistic kids & my schedule is packed.  I don't have the luxury of driving all the way down to Gilroy in traffic JUST TO FIND OUT MY APPT IS CANCELED. All in all, not a good artist to work with, not a good business. Sad. read more

I did not catch the name of the person that helped me when I went in but came in looking for a retainer for a daith piercing. I had called prior and was told they had them in the right guage. When I went in the person that was showing me the retainers was showing me ones for the nose and they not even the right guage. You do not put an L shaped stud into a daith piercing! Not only that but he was touching them with his unwashed, unsanitized hands. His hands were obviously dirty and then touched all of those piercings. Sanitizing those or not, gloves should have been worn. Was not impressed by whoever helped me and will not be going back here. read more

ONE HOUR BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT, as I'm driving from fucking Oakland, his lazy ass texts me the designs he drew and says that if I don't like it we'll have to reschedule for December (6 months later). That's some unprofessional bullshit right there - not the clients fault he overbooks and doesn't have time to properly work with the client. Why am I getting punished because I don't like what he drew? What a narcissist. I ended up rescheduling for December because the design wasn't what I wanted (and I didn't want to loose my deposit). He agreed to reschedule. Then he emails me after I left and tells me to put another deposit down for wasting HIS time. Unbelievable. Disrespectful, condescending little boy. Despite how much I been dreading for 2 years to have my closed earlobes reopened, I went to Eddie the owner here today and was very pleased with my experience. He has a very calm and reassuring demeaner. He was highly recommended by multiple people that have gotten piercings from him over the many years. I was told he is very experienced and I was set on having him help me. His placed was clean, infection protocol followed and he wore gloves. He was swift and precise. I also appreciate he didn't try to hard sell his jewlery on display and allowed me to use my own 18k white gold studs. I am very grateful he positioned my piercing much more ideal than my previous spot that was done as a teenager at Claire's with a gun. Clear post-op instructions given. Everyone I encountered at the shop was very kind and friendly. I did not experience much swelling or pain at right now 10 hrs later. I highly recommend needle piercing with Eddie! read more

The owner here does the piercings, he is in and out of the shop so you have to ask the guy at the store approx when the owner will be in. Piercing was $60 including the ring and I paid $10 for the spray to keep it clean which was reasonable. This review is so long overdue because I definitely have a lot of things to say about my experience. I first heard about Daniel through a old coworker because she has work done by him so I checked out his insta. His work is honestly so amazing and yes he is very talented. Emailed him and got a reply right away by his assistant. The wait list for me was almost a year which is ridiculous but he's a very high in demand artist. Lucky for me he became famous from ink master after I booked so prices did go up and it became harder to get on the waitlist. This is where it became unprofessional: I get an email from Daniels assistant saying that he had to travel and film for ink master so my appointment would need to be rescheduled. Originally my appointment was scheduled for February 12 so she rescheduled it for March 3. Then she emailed back a few days later saying it was a mistake and meant March 31. I get a text from Daniel two days before the appointment saying he's excited to do the piece and he was willing to talk over the phone if I wanted to discuss more about it. He texts me day of appointment saying I should come in at 1 or 2 because that's best for him even though my appointment is scheduled at 12. I show up and he's tattooing another girl and looks up very confused and says "you here for me?" Honestly this was so annoying cause it just shows his schedule is messy. I had to wait around Gilroy and then drive an hour back home because he kept pushing back the time and ended up tattooing that girl for the rest of the day. He texts me with an apology and $100 off my session but I still had to wait another few days to get the tattoo. Day of session: I show up on time and Daniel comes in 5 mins after me ready with the design. My original idea for the design was a sunflower and roses but he didn't want to do it with the sunflower because he didn't think it flowed well. He wanted people to be able to look at his work years later and still be amazed. I was whatever at this point because I love his work so much and went through so much hassle that I wanted to get something done by him. The tattoo took 6 hours and he has such a light hand that it's pretty much painless. During the last 40 mins or so I became light headed because I had nothing to eat or drink so I fainted. I would like to thank the two teen girls that were there hanging out with us for helping me up. Daniel was very nice and told the girls to go buy me a granola bar. He stopped and offered if I wanted to finish another day but obviously I said no because I didn't want to go through appointment trouble. Thank you also to Eddie for being so so so nice by checking if I was ok and he told me fainting happens all the time. I did finish the session that day and of course I loved the result. Healing was awesome too because he uses this sandiderm seal that you leave on for 4-5 days and you don't clean it during that period. Overall even though it was a roller coaster to get this tattoo I do appreciate Daniel for being so kind through my incident. Just please get more organized :) read more

Eddie is amazing, clean, accurate, & efficient. I've also gotten a couple tattoos by Kasey. He is great! His artwork is incredible and he really works to draw out exactly what you're looking for. He's a great artist and very friendly. They have also stepped up their glass game. There is such a great variety of pieces from well known brand names as well as other brands (HitMan, PerkTech, Illusion, Bent, HiSi, Roar, Bio, and many more). There's something for everyone. They even carry Santa Cruz shredder products as well as the omni nails and carb caps. 18+ of course. Haha I have been coming here since for years and have always had a good experience. I asked if he would be able to do a small tattoo like a heart or a butterfly, just something small because this would be my first tattoo. He said "no im not doing that. I have to give a huge thank you to Daniel for all the hard work, effort and time he put in to my piece. Daniel was very detailed and precise from start to finish. The day I met Daniel for my consultation I got the opportunity to express what I had hoped for him to create. Daniel was very excited work with me which was nice and his style was exactly was I was looking for. I made my deposit and scheduled a date for my work to be done. At that point Daniel explained how he wanted lots of reference photos (in addition to what I had already sent prior) with descriptions as to what I liked or might be interested in incorporating into my piece. A couple weeks prior to my tattoo I received an appointment confirmation via email, which I immediately confirmed. The next day I received another email reminding me to send in my reference photos with descriptions if I had not already done so (which I was thankful for because I had almost forgot). I received a confirmation email directly from Daniel stating my references were great and at that time he didn't need any additional information. The day of my appointment I had a long drive from Sacramento to Gilroy. On my way in I received a text message from Daniel saying he was excited to get to work and reminding me to eat a good meal as we would be looking at a long day. Upon arrival Daniel was a ball of energy and very friendly. He had me review his work to be sure he captured what I wanted and actually had several variations drawn out. I was super happy with my options which made it hard to decide on a final piece but I did. He even made some suggestions to the drawing I chose and added on to the drawing. Daniel was very easy going and professional throughout the entire process. I was happy to have a complete tattoo when I walked out and I couldn't have asked for anything better. I have been wanting another tattoo for quite some time and was thankful I came across his IG @danielsilvatattoos. The very same day I sent the DM and a few weeks later dropped my cash deposit off. He was pretty booked by the time I saw him but, it was well worth the wait. When I went to drop off my cash deposit he asked for details of what I wanted for my tattoo and told me that for what I was looking for I would need to block off a good chunk of my day. This was my first big tattoo and I liked the fact that he was able to finish it all in one session. I got my back piece a few days ago and it is continuing to heal quite nicely! One thing I do want to mention is that he handles his own schedule and runs all his own appointments. So, if he takes a minute to respond. Chances are he's busy but, he will get back to you. After getting multiple piercings here, I find that there isn't much to complain about. Their hours are very open and the owner is usually a phone call a way to do piercings if he is not in the shop. I've had my nose pierced twice, belly button twice, and cartilage all pierced here and each time everything has been completely sterile. The owner is very careful and makes it as painless as possible. He's also very thorough on aftercare so you do not get it infected. My overall experience as far as piercings go have been great. The cost on their studs, jewelry, and pretty much everything else besides the piercing itself is a little overpriced. Most earrings and studs don't cost as much as they do here. I think the owner tries to make up for the cheaper piercing cost with charging you extra on the studs. If you do decide to get a piercing here, make sure you buy the stud elsewhere to save money! read more
