Date of visit: October 11, 2024 This was a stop on our way up to Minneapolis. We wanted to get past the Madison traffic for dinner but without having to deal with the crazy tourists in the Wisconsin Dells-area. We sought out a recommendation from a friend, and they did not disappoint! Service was a touch slow, but it was a very busy Friday night so I am giving some grace on that here with my review, especially as our server was quite wonderful. However, this is definitely a place that would benefit from the addition of some technology; watching our waitress take our order by hand, then stop at the next table and do the same, and then go enter both means that both orders get to the kitchen at the same time instead of spacing them out. And it just so happened that the table who ordered after us received their dinner first. Not complaining, just pointing out the inefficiency. Our server was super friendly and fun, which helped with the longer wait (I wonder how the Halloween decorating went--she said she was in charge of it), and the food was so good that I forgot all about the wait! We were on a road trip and needed a lunch place. This one had a good menu and was just off the highway so we gave it a try. It's a nice places tucked amongst a hotel, gas stations, and fast food. We were seated immediately, got our drinks quickly, and received excellent service throughout our lunch. I chose the hot bacon spinach salad. It was huge! The ingredients were fresh. The dressing was served on the side. It also came with a roll and butter. Lots to eat for lunch. You can get it with protein but I chose veggie. It was great. Husband had the club stacker which was also a substantial amount of food. Sandwich was served on Texas toast. It was good and the side of fries that came with it were great (I stole one or two). We are local. We have been going to Roadside Grill for years. Last night we tried to eat at a new place in our area Youngblood Brewery. Became frustrated with service and left. We decided to try Roadside Grill it had been awhile since we had been here. We were extremely happy with the whole experience!!!! We are never disappointed when we come here. I had the best Rueben I have ever had. My husband had the Windsor Cheese Steak sandwich he said it was the best sandwich he has had in a long while. Our server was friendly and very accommodating! Wow. In the middle of Nowhere Wisconsin there js a charming midwestern eatery. Friday night fish fry has a number of fish available. That was a new one for me. I stopped here two years ago on a cross-country trip and could not get this place off my mind, so when I happened to be in Wisconsin again, I hunted it down and was not disappointed! Rodeside has some of the best all-American food and I'm glad I don't live in town because I'd be there every day. The ambience is comfortable. Even in the middle of the day, the interior is warm and cozy. The staff is friendly and service is very, very quick. I was impressed before and was impressed again with the speed of service and the smiles on everyone's faces. My cheese curds and RodeSide burger? To die for. The cheese curds were perfectly fried and perfectly gooey. The burger is by far one of the best I've ever had. Char-grilled and dripping juices all over the plate; perfectly cooked onions; generous cheese... and that RodeSide sauce? Amazing. I can't wait to travel through Wisconsin again. The food was great but the service was even better. I ordered take out because my kid had a hockey game across the way. When I arrived my order didn't make it to the kitchen, but the bartender made up for it, since I had to pick the order up from the bar. He was sincere about it and was polite. It didn't bother me that much because they had a room in the front filled with toy machines and claw machines. So my kids didn't even want to leave. Food here is pretty good, the lighting is pretty dark. You are basically eating by candlelight. Their cheese curds are so good. I am not a fan of the steak fries. They are more reject potato wedges. Their burgers are good but the toppings are a lot. I'll be getting just a plain burger in the future because I did take the toppings off for some of it and it was really good without. We had dinner at The Rodeside Grill while in town for a baseball tournament. There weren't many non-fast food restaurant options in the area so we felt kind of stuck...and the experience wasn't great. There were three in our party and there still wasn't much on the menu that any of us wanted. Two in our party ended up sharing the ribs. When the ribs arrived, I joked that the half rack looked like half of a half rack because it was super small. My son wanted to know how it was possible for the food to arrive so quickly after we ordered - answer: It's all premade and sitting in a fridge or an oven in the kitchen. The only vegan option for me was veggie fajitas. Except for a salad, the other items on the menu aren't conducive to being made vegan-friendly. The staff was friendly enough and we were able to eat and watch the Brewers game and then the start of the Bucks game. That being said, after we sat down and ordered our drinks, we contemplated going elsewhere to eat, but there just wasn't much else to choose from. Two meals, one beer, one margarita, and a lemonade were $55 with a tip - kind of high for not very good food. It was just an all around meh kind of experience. read more

Attentiveness of manager could be improved. He personally served two plates filled with burnt food and both orders cold. When the server finally asked how food was I asked if my order could be heated in microwave. She offered a fresh meal which was gracious but wasn't needed. The server later explained why our order arrived cold, the kitchen had discovered they had no thawed asada sauce. So our food sat while they thawed the sauce. It was gracious to provide another meal, but I didn't insist on one nor expected one. The next order arrived hot within 5 minutes. Communication would have been appreciated; I would have forgone the sauce and all would have been just fine. Posting a candid review on Facebook caused a lot of vitriol from the regulars, uncomfortable and frankly unnecessary. Slow ticket times (not the first time here with slow ticket time, but definitely our last), cold food and understaffed service team does not make for a pleasant dining experience. While our server comped our meal, also not expected nor requested, it was an awkward dining experience that I won't soon forget. read more

I so wanted to like this place with easy parking and nice looking bar and seating. Friendly bartender and just the right amount of TVs on the walls. The food was another thing. My burrito grande was big and was full of grilled chicken but tasteless. There was a nice wrapper which was good but the red sauce that was sparingly dribbled on the sides had a bottled taste to it and nothing tasted like Mexican food should. My wife's chicken rice soup was a gelatinous bowl of rice with a strong onion taste and was not hot enough. We were disappointed at the lack of love in preparing these meals. The Roadeside has been here a long time and is close to our home so we were disappointed on this trip. Maybe some of the other menu choices are good but we're not sure we would go back. read more

Came here for mother's day brunch. We had reservations for 11 am. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our table. Not horrible considering how busy they were. Overall the choices for the buffet were decent. I wish there would have been a little more selection for the dessert portion as they only had carrot cake and a brownie. I can't comment on pricing as I'm not sure how much it was as my step mom paid. But we all left full and satisfied. So I would say it was worth it. Friends and I visited Rodeside to watch a Badger away game. Although the Badgers sucked that day, the food did not! We had good service, great game day specials, and super drinks! We solely ordered apps off the of the Game Day menu which is available for all Badger and Packer games. Eating them family style the four of us ordered four appetizers and had more than enough food to hold us over for the full game and then some. Not to mention the food included in the Bloodys (Zing Zang mix). The nachos alone were enough to feed our whole table, but the pot stickers, and giant wings were a nice addition. The buffalo chicken dip is one to put your homemade dip to shame. Very tasty! We will be returning, not only for the food but also for the collection of fans and tv availability to catch every play. Rodeside's food is very good and the employees are friendly and courteous. The salads are our favorite, full of flavor and an excellent portion size. My only complaint would be their old fashions. They use a mix instead of muddling.... It's a minor flaw (the bartenders are knowledgable and friendly) and doesn't stop me from eating there. read more
