I used to love this bar and have been coming here for many many years (10+) but my experience tonight was horrible and I will not be supporting this bar anymore. You have lost a long time customer. We were out celebrating my friend's birthday (3 girls, one of which is clearly pregnant). We sat at the bar and tried to get a table but were beat to it. Eventually one of the women who beat us to the table told us they were leaving, and she asked us if we would like to take the table, so we did. We were enjoying our drinks at the table for several minutes before a very rude waiter came up to us and said he needed the table to seat someone else and proceeded to put a "reserved" sign on the table while we were already sitting there. I proceeded to tell him this is ridiculous as we have been sitting here and lost our previous seats. He said "yeah, too bad, then you can leave." This is extremely unprofessional as we had already been sitting for several minutes and had just ordered more drinks. In what world is it considered ok to take a customers seat, that was not previously reserved, to sit another customer. When he seated the other party, they could barely even fit in the booth and I'm sure they were uncomfortable. The waiter was extremely rude and had no remorse. Not to mention the bar tender took forever to take our order and the bar wasn't even busy, I have seen it much more packed in the past. Shame on The Roger Room. Now I see why so many of my friends stopped coming here. Do better. read more

I used to love this place, until last night & I will not be returning. The way we were treated by the bartenders was disgusting. My boyfriend and I were in the mood to have a couple drinks out and about. As a long time resident of the neighborhood, I suggested Roger room. I was excited to share this cool spot with my boyfriend, him having moved here within the year to setup his practice. There wasn't the usual person at the door checking IDs, however upon entering, we made our way to the bar. The first bartender working on the left with a man bun, screams through the bar quite embarrassingly, "ID'S GUYS", now granted we are both 35. I also don't understand why that needed to be announced through the bar when our bartender (who was not the person that announced us) could have quite literally just checked our IDs upon sitting down. We sat down, I ordered a martini, my boyfriend his NA cocktail as he was driving and doesn't often drink. My bf worked as a bartender during grad school and enjoying watching the cocktails be made, as they were quite a bit more crafty than what he was used to back in the Midwest. Our bartender looked at my boyfriend and said, "you ok man?". To which he responded yes, as he was. Mind you his behavior was normal so I'm not sure what the bartender was getting at. Typically, I use the purse hooks, however was unable to as they were occupied by the couples either side us when we got there, so for that reason, my bag (which was on the smaller side), was on the counter in front of me. The man next to me, ordered a martini at some point, and the bartender who was standing in front of me reached over with the filled martini (instead of delivering it by moving closer or in front of the man) and spilled it all over my $3000 denim bag. Fabrication for context- it's not a material that alcohol can just be wiped off of, as it seeps in to the denim. I'm a pretty reasonable person, and I didn't react really any sort of way, I get it, it's on the bar. However, instead of apologizing, the bartender shrugged his shoulders and said "you're kinda in the line of fire." Still not letting this get to us, my boyfriend and I continued our conversations and laughs. A bit later, another cocktail being made (for another party) involved some sort of stencil, which turned out really cool. My boyfriend said "woah, awesome!" To which the bartender then said, "you sure you're ok man, you need some water?" He responded he was just enjoying watching the cocktails being made. After we both finished our drinks, he got the check, tipped 20% despite the treatment and we left. We would have stayed for another round or two, had our service not been so rude and off putting, but I will HAPPILY take our business elsewhere. We did just that, and went down the road to Scarlett (new restaurant with full bar) which was stunning with a great vibe. The service was friendly and welcoming, with delicious. read more

We popped into the Roger room on our way back from dinner because we were really wanting to go to a speakeasy. This place is very easy to find no trouble at all it's very small it was incredibly packed standing room only. Very difficult to get the attention of the bartender to get a drink , once we got his attention. His attitude was very stiff and basically quickly made our cocktail and shoved it in front of us. We asked for an extra jalapeño in the cocktail and he said "you don't need it. " We both laughed and thought is this an LA thing!!! The drinks we're tasty. I've been to Roger Room multiple times over the years and have always had a fabulous experience. The drinks are divine, the bartenders are conscientious, the space is chic and inviting. Honestly, what's not to love? It does tend to get pretty busy, so going early is your best bet if you want to snag a booth. But that's a small price to pay for such a fun night out! On my most recent visit I got The Black Dahlia (their version of an espresso martini) and it was rich and delicious. Definitely one of my favorite spots in LA! read more

The space is cute and the bartenders are attentive. I'll give it that much. But they axed their sole affordable gluten-free option (a hard kombucha), while keeping several canned beers. When I asked, there are no plans to replace it. One of the bartenders suggested this decision may have been to support cocktail sales. If so, I really think that logic is flawed. It doesn't disincentivize beer drinkers at all, and making hard liquor the only gluten-free option doesn't seem wise. Made a reservation here for a Thursday night at 9. Easy to find as someone on the street as us if we were looking for the bar and pointed to the black door. When we arrived, no one seemed to be checking anyone in so we grabbed a table. It was a little cold and the bartender pointed us to a table where the AC wasn't blowing directly on you. The bartender went over the menu, answered our questions and then we didn't see him again to take our drink order. Or we did see him, behind the bar working and chatting.
