Not to mention the vibes in this place is like an absolute funeral, all the pictures made this place look so fun and great, but no it was worse than funeral. We ultimately spent more than $900, and what we received was nowhere close to what I expected based on what is portrayed online. The problems started before we even arrived. The phone number listed online said the number did not exist, an email address I tried bounced back, and simply getting in contact with someone to secure the reservation became an ordeal. I understood and willingly agreed to the $750 minimum. However, THRōW's online photos and walkthrough were a major reason I booked. They portray a bright, lively, tropical party atmosphere with cabana-style lounge areas, colorful décor, games, and entertainment. That was exactly what I wanted for my retirement celebration. What we walked into felt like a completely different venue. There was no lively tropical or cabana-style atmosphere in our area. Our reserved "lounge" consisted of plain black lounge chairs that were visibly dirty. The space felt cold, bare, and unfinished. Staff were still rolling equipment around and actively setting up after our 7 PM reservation had already started. Very little of what attracted me to the venue online was reflected in what we actually experienced. Honestly, it felt more like having my retirement celebration in a dirty warehouse that was still being set up than the tropical party venue portrayed online. The food and beverage experience was also extremely disappointing. We were told multiple food items we tried to order were unavailable, and wine we attempted to order was unavailable as well. That is especially frustrating when your reservation requires a $750 food and beverage minimum. The food we did receive was overwhelmingly disappointing. Out of everything ordered for our group, my pizza was eaten, one friend ate their wings, and the Caesar salad was eaten. That was essentially it. Much of the remaining food went uneaten. I also later noticed that we were charged for margaritas that were not the margaritas we actually ordered. One of my guests also had an unwelcoming interaction with staff shortly after arriving. I was specifically told that a DJ would start at 9 PM. Our reservation ran until 10 PM, and we stayed until approximately 10. No DJ ever showed up. Near the end of the night, we were told we had only spent around $400 toward the $750 minimum. At that point, we were literally trying to figure out what else we could purchase just to satisfy the minimum. We ultimately purchased a bottle largely for that reason. Our final total exceeded $900. To be clear, I am not complaining because I agreed to a $750 minimum and later regretted it. I knew the minimum when I booked. My issue is that if you require someone to commit to that level of spending, the experience should reasonably resemble what you are selling them. The reserved space should be clean and ready, advertised menu options should have reasonable availability, customers should be charged for what they actually ordered, and if you specifically tell a customer there will be a DJ at 9 PM, there should probably be a DJ at 9 PM. Unfortunately, trying to resolve this afterward has been frustrating too. A manager contacted me after my complaint and said he wanted to resolve the issue. We scheduled a 6 PM call, but I never received it. I followed up and said I would call him the following day at 6 PM instead. I did, and the call went directly to a full voicemail box. I sent the SMS notification offered by the phone system and followed up again in writing. I made a genuine effort to address this directly with the business before posting publicly. This was supposed to be an important celebration marking the end of my military career. Instead, I spent more than $900 on an experience that looked and felt nothing like what I believed I was booking, and I'm now spending additional time trying to get management to address it. Extremely disappointing from booking, to the event itself, to the follow-up afterward. Based on my experience, I would not choose THRōW Social again, especially for an important celebration or an event requiring a significant minimum spend.

There were nine of us around the table, watching the sun set over Washington while working our way through cocktails and some seriously good food. We shared burrata, crab cakes, steak tartare, and plenty more around the table. Everything was beautifully prepared and absolutely delivered. Is it a little pricey? Yep. But you're also paying for one heck of a front-row seat to Washington, DC. Thankfully, the food holds its own against the view, so it doesn't feel like you're paying premium prices just for the scenery. The night ended with lots of laughter, pictures on the indoor swing, and then there may or may not have been an adventure involving electric scooters through Washington, DC.
